Quick question on ur Escalade , did you guys notice any issues with the drive performance during the time your check engine light came on for transmission temp sensor ? Mines came one night just out the blue however week later it went out and hasn’t come back on I’m wondering if I still need to have that serviced . Upon research of others with this problem they say it cause rough shifting . I have notice a rough take off from 1st to 2nd here in there but nothing that make me feel like I need to take it in for service . I just assumed that having it sport mode cause the torquey like shifting .
I don’t recall any hard shifting or driving performance then. When it is cold from time to time shifting to drive from reverse can be a little sluggish. Probably due to cold transmission fluid though. The Escalade has been very reliable the past couple years since the issues were addressed
I love the FACT you mentioned the uniqueness of the headlights on your truck(FOR THAT POINT ALONE I'M SUBSCRIBED) because GM totally botched them on the 2021 IMO keep the great content coming
I am with you. When I first saw the new headlight configuration, I thought it was a rendering and not the actual production style. I hope in person it looks better. I'm thinking of buying a 2018 Premium Luxury from CARMAX. It'll come with a 90-ay or 4,000 mile warranty. It has 37k miles on it and selling for $55K. I haven't taken it for a test drive yet, but it seems to be in great condition. Do you think this is a safe buy? Your videos are the 1st ones I've come across that are really helpful. Thank you.
Hey Eddie, since those issues in the video happened (all under warranty) our Cadillac has been solid. Towing the boat to the lake tomorrow with it! Thank you for checking out the video!
I think it depends on what you are doing with the vehicle. In my personal opinion (and I own a 2016 F-150 and had a Lincoln Mark LT) I would probably consider the Escalade if it has the 8 speed transmission. That would be a consideration for me if towing and daily driving. Full disclosure I had a transmission fail on an Expedition we had and then the Lincoln started to show signs of the same and with that an annoying ‘sticky shifter’ on top of that. Sold it, got a 2013 Sierra Denali. No major issues. Both engines are pretty reliable but the Escalade wins on power. The 2015 F-150 may be a fine choice if the Escalade only has the 6 speed transmission. Also you can do more with an actual truck if you need to haul stuff.
Hey Don, thanks for the video. My wife is looking at a 2015 Escalade Premium 4wd with 74,000 miles. Although this is 5 years old, it appears to be in really good condition. Carfax says it is a one owner "Corporate" vehicle? This would be by far the most we have ever paid for a vehicle ($40,000). I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous after watching your video as this will have no warranty at all. I know you said some people have had less issues and some have had more than you. Let me ask you this, knowing what you know, would you buy a 5 year old Escalade with no warranty?
P M My video wasn’t intended to scare off anyone. We haven’t had anymore problems since the items I discussed were replaced or repaired. There are only some things I would look at if I was in your situation and looking to purchase one. If you can, GM can do a test on the air-ride to determine if there are leaks. If they find one, maybe you can negotiate a discount. The air-ride parts can be pricey. I think it is worth a full inspection too. I think the power train is solid and if taken care of will last a very long time. The good news is the parts for most of the mechanical are easy to find and not ridiculously priced since the platform is shared with the Tahoe’s, Suburbans and Yukons. Hopefully you’re a subscriber and you’ll get to see what we are doing to our 2016 Escalade soon! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Hey Amrit jir, From what I know they are pretty good value for that year compared to other small SUV’s. I researched a couple things quickly : Factory paint issues and/or body panel fitment issues are most of the complaints when buying new. For used ones make sure there is absolutely no smoke out of the exhaust while it has been running for awhile. Since it is from a dealer and low kms (less than 20k per year) you should be able to ask for the full history no problem. If you pay a fair price without any history of collisions, major mechanical repairs, etc, you are probably buying a decent BMW. Hopefully the dealer offers some sort of short term warranty that saves you from any catastrophic costs with a breakdown in the first few months.
