I've been a GM owner my entire life. The rear main, rear diff, air ride shocks, radiators, coolant quick release fittings, and oil pressure sensors are common problems also.
My brothers rear diff was a major issue. Lots of leaky oil also.
Honestly I was correct when I predicted this video wouldn’t have any drivetrain components. These vehicles are pretty solid and reliable.
+Jared Ostler Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
+Hay Hay Thanks for the feedback!
True, just gotta keep an eye on the oil pump and bypass the Active Fuel Management, so many horror stories with it screwing up the oil flow and engine wear. My lil bros 13' Yukon Denali is getting its second engine replacement. Otherwise they're solid! I always wanted a 13-14 ESV Premium. That whole pkg is beautiful and are well within my price range.
@@LSp8 My as well get the PLATINUM,thats what I'm looking for,hopefully a 2014....
@@LSp8 Reason I'm here now. I'm getting rid of my 08 Navigator. The 15-17 is basically a refresh and it sucks. So I'm going with the Bling King.
YES! Both passenger side door handles have come off, both front hub bearings replaced, air ride assist shocks replaced. Otherwise, I LOVE my ‘13 Platinum ESV! Thank you 🙏
I bought a 2007 escalade 150k miles no problem i love it best truck ever
Note to automakers. Some things don’t need to be computerized. Like the doors that control the airflow. The old levers and connected to the doors worked beautiful for decades. Just a thought.
nope, the plastic for those levers break eventually. these electronic ones are a lot less common to fail if you live in an area without a lot of rust like california.
@@chek1n Yea the plastic will break after 25-30 years. The electronic crap fails in 12-15 years....or less.
Actually those where never levers they where controls for vacume lines which are horrible and never ever ever need to return.
Chek1n what’s cheaper and easier to change, a $1.00 piece of plastic, or a $100.00 computer chip?
Yup, the less tech there is, the less likely it is for something to break
This was spot on. I’ve had 3 Escalade’s and they’ve all had these issues. Only thing I’d add is that this car eats batteries also. Even the Agm ones only last 2 to 2.5 years. I’ll take these small issues any day.
Hey, just got rid of a my pos gl450. Any other insight into Cadillac escalade would be extremely helpful
@@mitchellglass6832 Also waiting to hear
Thank you. This video was extremely helpful on my truck for few issues I'm having.
My 08’ Escalade has none of those issues except for front wheel bearings I replaced already . It’s only summer driven and has 80,000 miles . Good Info here, thanks ! 👍
80,000?? Come back at 120k when it's in the junkyard lol
A man good luck
@@ThatOnePriest My dad sold his 04 Escalade with 206,000 miles, Only had minor oil leak. Not to shabby 😉
@@ThatOnePriest My dad sold his 04 Escalade with 206,000 miles, Only had minor oil leak. Not to shabby 😉
holy crap that’s low my 07 has 183K
Nailed it. I've had every single one of these issues on my 2007 and alot more.
My dad loved Cadillac’s. But the old long Batmobile looking ones. He must’ve had about 6 as o was growing up. Now I’m looking at buying one. I heard a lot of horror stories on the Northstar motor’s. I’m looking at a 07 Cadillac Escalade ESV this video really helps make my decision to buy it.
I had an 07 escalade
Trust me these trucks are %100 perfect
The only negative thing is the gas mileage
But they have no aux port right?
@@Johna41223 There is an RCA port in the rear of the car behind the center console. I bought an RCA to 3.5MM headphone jack and selected rear input and that works as an aux cord.

Oil pressure sensor
I had all those problem on my 2010

Cracks on dashboard !!!!!!!!! Quality!!!!

Mine too. Both corners by the windshield
Thats GM ford you
Nah. Got an 2007 with no cracks, but then again I live in the northwest.
Easily fixed. They make a glue in cover that looks identical to factory. I installed it drunk and the dash looks brandnew
So true😭 I have one and every year it’s always something I gotta fix 🤷🏻♀️but I love my truck
Oil pressure sensor as well
Christian Baker I’m dealing with this
What year?
julio bello same here
That's actually the #1 problem!!! I've honestly never seen one break a door handle but the numerous horror stories with the oil pressure make me glad I have a 03!
Thank you for the video I’m a mechanic and that is 100%👌 correct.I also buy one esv for my wife and I a ready went true all this repair you mentioned.Very we’ll explain also you have my 👍 like 👍

Bought my 07 Yukon Denali XL Sept 11th, 2016 with 220k! Only put about 80k on her, Been Reliable for the most Part!
Only Problem I been having lately is After a Car wash water somehow is getting in the Engine Bay! Getting the Battery Wet!
Gotta Change out my Shocks and Struts and uJoints. Thanks 1A Auto for keeping the How to Vids Coming!!
I'm the 2nd owner of an 07 Escalade EXT with 157k miles. Extremely clean and immaculately maintained truck. It has a cold engine knock since the day after I bought it. Sounds like a diesel/bad rod until engine gets warm and then it goes away. No one at multiple dealerships knows exactly what it is. I've heard of many other people with same problem. Another common issue is driver's side motor mount and rust issues on bottom of door sills/rocker panels.
Is the knock heard at idle or when driving?
My 2010 escalade esv had the same noise, took it to my mechanic and it was the knocking sensors
Might be the exhaust manifold
Mine made a ticking noise until the engine got warm. I replaced the exhaust manifold and that solved the problem
You are not alone. I had my engine rebuilt at 125k miles. Still has the same knock. Same motor mount issue even after installing new mounts with the engine install. Torque converter went bad, cost me another $1000. $4,600 to rebuild the 6.2 after a spunt rod bearing. Im starting to think this truck is a money pit. Overall, i think its a horribly designed SUV, my 05 Escalade was much more reliable
If your engine has the displacement on demand/active fuel management the "knock" you are hearing is most likely a collapsed lifter. I have a Chevy Avalanche that does the same thing with 170,000 miles.
i love my '11 escalade. but i gotta get my '01 suburban back on the road.
Lol I got a 2002 suburban that needs work and looking to buy a 11'escalade
I have a 07 suburban and I’m here because of an 08 Escalade esv I’m interested in. Love that body style!!😍🥰
My 2014 Escalade developed severe chrome corrosion on the rims, it was so bad the tires were losing air daily, and a new rim is $870, also 3 of my door handles broke but I used JB Plastic Weld to build up the nutsert area , I added a secondary battery ground cable and I change my oil before 50% service life. They say never use anything heavier than 5w 30, I add a small amount of Marvel Mystery Oil to oil and gas and always Dexos rated oil, Pennzoil Platinum is my choice.
The electrical issue is common. The SUV loses power while driving or at start up. I found this to be caused by the battery cables becoming loose where the wire connects to the battery post connectors. Replace the cables.
Right on point with the outer door handles. I have had 2 break so far on my 07 Slade. Also 2 big cracks in dash. Rims peeling. Rusting. But I wouldnt trade it for anything.
UPDATE Just traded it on a new Ram. She needed $6k in repairs. Not worth it for a 14 YO vehicle
+Richard E Thanks for the feedback!
WELL...were here about repairs....what were the $6000 in repairs it needed?
Cracking dash has to be on the list.
Great video. Always good to listen to someone who knows what he's talking about. I 'm looking at a 05
Any issues with this year .? Thanks

I own a 2011 Escalade ESV , The problem
is not being able to fill up the fuel tank.
Great information!! Thank you.
Thank you very much this was very knowledgeable if you can can you do one on the Cadillac DTS 2008 about the actuator Motors in the top problems with that vehicle
+Francis W Davis jr We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1AAuto.com
Not super serious stuff . Great to know!! Thanks!!!
Mine had lifter, oil pump, and TCM issues happen all at the same time at 176 thousand.
Also at around 170 my front differential mounts went bad. A big one with these is exhaust manifold bolts rusting and breaking off. The oil pressure switch is another, that’s a joy to replace. Oh yeah and the power fold motor for the side mirrors that’s a 400 dollar repair (each mirror) another issue is the heated/cooled seat module. Yeah that harness will fire (positive and negative leads) the trick to fix that is buy the Ford harness (they make a better harness) and splice the existing one into that one. Another issues these have is the steering wheel positioning sensor, the column has to be taped and removed. For this you have to buy the 15-19 Escalade sensor because they don’t make an oem one and the standard part doesn’t even work for it.
Just had my front hubs replaced on my 2006 Escalade Ext.
Thanks for all your info, I am for my carpentry company going purchase an 07 to 13 in black. To make the consult, the the client. It still looks new
Dont want anything new, newer means more to go wrong. My old Nova's only the point ignition was troubling.
My SS replaced the 350 with 400 had it turned into 406 with lunati street racing cam. All the deserted country roads I left black on, it never broke down.
my 03 Silverado has few things that need attention. I now see why my uncle traded his off 1 year before the warranty was up. let the next person have the headaches.
+jeff alan Thanks for the feedback!
Don't get in black..it's the cheapest color and the black color which is used in inferior ain't to the other colors. It's an auto color for a reason. Blue, white gold and red and pricey. For good reasons.
I have a low mileage 07 ESV. I have none of these problems. My only problem is the front door inner door handles peeling chrome.
It's just a matter of time.
The thing about caddy’s is they have some electrical problems, but mechanically if they’re maintained right they’ll last to 300k miles
Yeah I just got an Escalade and it’s having a issue with the running boards seems to be getting stuck when it comes out might be a sensor tho since it goes up and down a few times trying
Yep, Im dealing with all these issues right now.
Thanks for sharing
This is spot on everything wrong with my escalade

Thank you Sir. Beautiful video. May I make you a question in something else? I have a 2008 Escalade and the reverse camera works only if I press fast 4 times the windows-lock button. Not when I put the reverse gear. I replaced the controller but nothing. No fuse is burned and the reverse lamp it works well. Do you know any idea of a possible fix?
I live in Switzerland.
Thank you in advance
Nick
I really like the exterior lights
Also slot of these parts are interchangeable with 1500 series parts. Also some of the 2500hd parts. My ball joints and control arms are all for the 2500HD gas series . Have yet to have a new issue
Would you happen to have any part numbers for the 2500hd parts that you used?
besides the service suspension i feel this may be standard across most gm and chevy vehicles for these years, these are all the same issues i had on my 08 impala haha, all very easy to fix
Thanks. Amigo

Owner of a 2008 Escalade EXT here. 6.2 with all wheel drive. I have owned the truck since 2012 and it had only 30k miles when I got it. Here are what problems I have found. Currently the truck has 87k miles.
1) Bad front CV axles. I replaced these about a year ago.
2) Rear air assist shocks leak down. When I hook my trailer up I hear the pump level the truck but it slowly leaks down putting a squat in the rear of the truck. (next repair on the list)
3) I feel a clunk when it down shifts at low speeds. I believe it's the front drive shaft clunking in and out of the splines when the load is off the drive shaft.
4) Driver side engine mount. This is super common on all 2007-2014 GM trucks. This was a fairly easy fix.
5) Rear exhaust manifold bolt head broken off on the driver side. Another very common problem on these trucks. Makes a clicking sound until engine is warm.
6) Every so often the dash goes crazy and flashes every dummy light and the truck runs like shit. Won't get out of 1st gear. Usually shutting it off for 5 mins clears it.
7) Squeaky brake pedal. This is super annoying. Happens mostly on cooler days.
Never had an issue with anything on the video except maybe the suspension system but I never get the service suspension light by itself. Only when the dash goes crazy as mentioned in my #6.
ScarabChris we have 2010 Escalade 2wd and engine mount went bad around 180k, oil pressure sensor went bad around the same milage, front suspension was bad had to be replaced and that was in 139k, air compressor went off recent just replace it with 2001-2006 compressor bolts on and cheaper, ac/heater actuator went bad just month ago replacement was cheap and easy to fix. And I have travel with this truck to Southern California many times and to Lacey Washington visit family. I also love the 6.2 on highway feels so good over the Yukon with 5.3 and no air ride I had bad experience driving my girlfriend dad truck to Los Angeles recently.
ScarabChris that’s crazy hearing , I got an 08 esv awd and she just hit 150k , only issue was bushings and and oil pan mine is making 650ewhp on stock drivetrain , sounds like yours was a lemon imo but honestly best truck I’ve ever own
Thanks
+Luis Velasquez Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
A lot I've checked out on lots maybe 1/3rd of them had broken door handles. For a VERY high end SUV the door handles seem cheap and hollow
Are these repairs expensive. Great video..
I have a couple more to add .. mirrors gears striping, trans going out at 129 k, projection lamp lights, motor mounts etc.... etc ....
I have had four out of the five problems with my 2008 Escalade
Was it expensive to fix?
Hahaha me too. Let me guess.. Door handles, throttle body, suspension, and wheel bearings?
Me too
Plus oil pressure sensor
Great video I have the long one 2012 and having that bouncing problem I wonder if I can put regular shocks on the back of it
+Pop FFM Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
You can put aftermarket shocks that eliminate the air ride suspension. Comes with parts to trick the computer so the error code disappears.
You should just replace the blown shocks. More likely they're leaking air by now through the cracks in the rubber bags. Aftermarket air shocks for the denali/Escalade on Amazon or Ebay work as well. Running them on mine.
You're air ride compressor should be working to control ride height.
@@20tea I put the arnott shocks on mine to eliminate the mag ride big mistake. Rides horrible I should have spent the money and put the factory ones back on
I have 08 escalade it runs good but I’m having trouble with my dash , nothing works not much but it will jump into manual drive. Drops in low gear
What no nav screen delamination???
Hi. tell me please. I bought a 2012 Cadillac Escalade Platinum. I can’t understand why the display does not switch the economy mode from V8 to V4 when you are standing at a traffic light or driving slowly? Is it supposed to switch automatically or does the fuel economy mode have to be switched to manual on the instrument panel? Thank you
Hi I have a 2008 Cadillac Escalade platinum I have all these issues with my truck. I have spent to much money on parts and repair. Also I saw on the news about recalls on this vehicle. Most of these are dangerous. The car stopped on me all of the sudden.
With our 2007 Escalade the only issue in the interior is both second row seat warmers don’t work at all (Don’t remember when they ever did work.) And the front seats, it’s a gamble weather they’ll work or not that applies to the cooling and heating function. (Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t work)
+Real WRLD Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you for the video, it might help I need to discuss with my mechanic, I’m struggling 3 years with loosing power of my engine, it started when I exchanged the headlights bulb, the engine wasn’t the same, after fixing the engine reprogrammed, my car stopping on the road many times with engine needs power message and slowly stopped, pedal was changed and nothing changed my car still stopping, light engine showed up all the time but after few hours or days it is gone the car is going well till stopped again, the last message was service tracking system and stability and short after engine needs power or engine loosing power, let me know if you have any ideas?
I have a 2010 escalade esv platnium and I have an issue with coolant dash gauge not working. When I go to start the vehicle all of the gauges will do the sweep movement, go from left to right. This includes the coolant temp gauge.
I've replaced the tstat and then borrowed a scan tool that can view live data. I can then see the temp of the coolant and see is rising as the vehicle is warming up.
The only thing I can think is the gauge at the dash isn't working but the sweep function does work so I'm not sure if the ECU/PCM isn't sending the signal or if the gauge cluster is messed up?
My dash board shows everything is working, heated & cooled seats on the dash are on. Still no heat or cooled feeling coming to both front seats. Any insight would be appreciated, what do you suggest? I have no burnt connections.
Headlight condensation ruining ballasts should be on here too. Just did a full reseal job on both front headlights... cussed the entire time.
My ac in my 09 randomly gets warm then cold. Which actuator should I look into replacing ?
I pretty much have all of those problems on my 2007 close to 190,000 miles. Peeling chrome on passenger front door handle, back driver side door handle comes off, air conditioner works when it wants to. Rarely when we need it. DVD player stopped working. Same tire area issues shown in your clip. Hesitation on acceleration. Also, back end is low. Headlight issues. Tire sensors issues with front passenger tire. No matter how many tires we put on the same issue for the passenger side front and back tires keep happening. Every three days we have to inflate tire. Despite all of that. According to a family member without permission to drive my truck she claims as she was driving everything under the hood just fell to the ground. No air bags deployed. We have spent $2,500.00 over the pass year just to get the truck back up and off the ground and rolling again. We have replaced the upper and lower arm with other repairs I forgot the name for those parts. We still need new fender and bumper. Basically around another $6,000.00 including a new fender, bumper. one rim and one front light kit and back air lift bags. I am on RUclips searching how to put on passenger fender, bumper and light kit myself. I need to get my front passenger door open for Cadillac dealer to repair recalled air bag on passenger side and to stop tire from rubbing in tire wall up against lower fender. I do not want to sale. This vehicle was my deceased dad's Caddy. If I am not able to make the repairs myself I will be forced to sell. Parts cost is not the problem. Mechanic charges makes it not affordable although they deserve every penny they work for. Just a bit tight for me right now. Making turns is the scariest for me. Pray my ability to do the repairs. I am going to need it. I am ordering the bumper and fender. If nothing else I will learn a new skill. I really rather not, lol!

Hello, I had a question. I just did the brakes on my ‘08 Escalade ESV and now trying to figure out to remove the “Service Brakes Soon” light the is showing on my dashboard. Would you have any suggestions on what I can do please? It’s really annoying seeing that light several times a day every single day. Thank you.
Hi brother I got a question I brought a 2004 cadillac escalade and I didn't like the rims it had,so I switched them to stock rims and now my abs speed sensor light it's on and I fixed it already but the light it's still on and my computer it's not reading the code no more says traction control did u know what can be wrong with it,all because i switched the rims???now I got a bunch of mechanics with different stories!one of them said my sterling wheel motion sensor it's bad ,and another one said the tires and rims??? another one said my shocks ???can u help me out ???
Any problems with cilinder deactivation? I know 2007-2009 don't have it.
You missed the big one, rear a/c lines, notorious on every Escalade. Expensive too.
+Joshua Redlin Thanks for the feedback!
how much did they charge you to do it?
I've had a number 3 for about a year. Might be wiring changed pedal and throttle
Sis you ever figure out what it was? I’ve changed the throttle body and wiring harness and still gets the throttle body code. My next move is to replace gas pedal
Could the airbags be replaced with regular shocks?
Air ride/ball joints is all I've had to do on my 11 EXT. Hardly drive it so I'm not a scientific example of what goes wrong. It's just my cruiser/help folks move vehicle. I drive a 2016 Escalade all over town. We shall see what goes wrong. Would like him to do a vid on that next
As a cadillac tech I can tell
You number 3 and 4 are rare. What should be in there is left side motor
Mount and steering wheel
Angle sensors

There is recall on all of them for inside door handles
So since I live in Alaska let me tell you what goes wrong on 07 yukon denali Door handles, mass airflow sensor ,transmission coolant lines the buttons inside the vehicle get worn out, But at the end of the day I love that 6.2 motor so I can't complain👌🏽💯💯

Great motor but the 4 cylinder mode is ridiculous.
I have an 07 escalade and the oil light comes on from time to time saying there is an issue with oil pressure. Any tips? We change the oil regularly but im thinking it could be the pump rather or a seal isnt working properly?

Did you get that electrical problem figured out? I'm h and ving the same problem
What is the typical cost in 2022 to repair all those problems? I’m retired and have a 2011 Cadillac Escalade Premium and I’d really like to keep it but these problems as well as the ones I’ve experienced in the last 3 years are scary. However, new vehicle costs are scarier 😆

Service stabilitrak prompt appearing and lighting of several warning lights for wheel bearing/other unknown part. Wish it would say what part/sensor is wrong and not just give multiple codes for one part
+Marco Mingucha Thanks for the feedback!
That's GM for you. They've been doing this exact thing since 2006. I had a 2007 Impala that would randomly throw those same codes and it was a nightmare trying to figure out which one was the actual problem.
I have now banned GM vehicles. Now I turn to Japanese cars that were made in Japan and import them in. I am a million times happier. Reliability for the Win!
The engine power reduced problem is a 5 volt reference issue not just pedal and throttle body it could be ac pressure sensor, oil pressure sensor, cam sensor and I know I’m missing a couple more sensors that are all connected to the same network

What about DOD issues, stuck lifters?
That's what I was thinking
That’s like the main issue with these trucks
The 6.2 don't have DOD. Earlier ones anyways

My '08 Rear Access Window pops open randomly when locking/unlocking doors and even opening doors.. does anyone else have this issue
I got a 2007 ESV and the front head lights turn on in the day, but in the night they are all off. I'm not trying to spend 3 Williams on the light bulbs, might be a sensor. Anybody know why and how I can fix them and not rely on my fog lights at night?
Biggest problems I had with these vehicles is the activation of (Stability control) after changing out both Positive and the Negative battery cable with the sensor all is good...
