hey scotty, I think your videos are super informative and very helpful. Im always comfortable listening to you cause you just tell it like it is. thanks for all your content
Hey Scotty have you ever researched the Dodge Journeys? I was in the market to buy a used SUV. While looking for one I noticed that a lot of these journeys less than 40,000 miles and they were dirt cheap. I thought it was way to good to be true so once I researched it I found a lot of people traded them in because of problems with the car turning off unexpectedly and other engine problems.
I bought a Cadillac Escalade with about 60,000 miles on it I'm at 134 no major problems yet Cadillac is one of the most reliable vehicles if you keep it maintenance like you're supposed to.... this is like my 5th Cadillac
Disagree on the Escalade. Bulletproof power train and very easy to work on. Parts are usually dirt cheap too. They’re a super good value for folks who do their own work
I agree, i Have the 2002 AWD 6.0 escalade. Best gen to buy. before GM stopped caring about those SUV's NGL i bought mine used and after a year and 10k later oil changes, basic maintenance and 22-inch black wheels later, car runs like a champ!! BUT yes some of these escalades will have their share of problems. but all used cars do. its all personal preference!
I bought used Lexus because you Scotty and no problems yet. It's 2008 es350 drives like new just needs seat covers and new dashboard. It had 1 recall for airbag but that didn't malfunction. Lexus are boring but very dependable.
Tampatec I bought a used Lexus too.. 174k miles.. but the knock sensors are failing after 6 months of driving it and the fact they have to open up the engine just to get to it.. a royal pain in $$$.. one place quoted me 1,300.. now I’m here without a car selling it and looking for another one
I have 2007 yukon xl Denali having now 389k mile and bought it 80k miles still strong and low costs for maintainance getting 13.7mpg in town 21mpg highway And its the best luxury suv i have ever driven loved it so much🖤
I have a 2009 yukon denali and I bought it with used 78,000 and it has 175,000 now and still runs like new. I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. similar gas mileage. it's like driving around sitting on a couch.
I love them too, I bought one GMC Yukon XL 4x4 with the 5.3 Vortec with 200 k on it cheap purchase though. Astonishing I drove it for 140 k plus without a problem, with proper oil changes intervals of couse.
Its mostly just transmission and air suspension problems which arent that bad (the transmission ones are mostly just mismatched gears), compared to stuff like total transmission failures, engine failures, AWD failures, etc, these things make the current LR/RRs look like RAV4s
I had an LR3. Never left me on the side of the road, excellent road trip truck, and uber capable off road. Quietest interior I've experienced. I could hold a conversation with my kid who would sit in the third row. Because everything is hermetically sealed, in case you want to traverse a river, much of cost when at the shop was labor. My year/model required a special tool set. I don't know if that's still the case. Reliable, yes. Costly to maintain, relative to a Toyota, absolutley. Worth the truly exclusive luxury ride and experience, ..yes, no, yes...no.
Land and Range Rovers often have small issues that can be fixed using non-Land Rover parts. People make the mistake of going to their Land Rover dealer for new brakes then act surprised when they get charged $1,000 for new pads. That’s were the “ahhhh Land Rovers break down all the time” idea comes from. Little things sometimes break, but my mother who still drives a 2001 Range Rover has never had to replace the engine or transmission over the 165,000 miles she’s put on it.
I bought my 2002 Escalade used back in 2005 with 25k miles on it. I went shopping for a newer Tahoe but found the Escalade to be the same price. Fast forward to 2019 and I still own my Escalade and it has 189,000 miles on it. Yes the dash cover is cracked and my driver seat leather is torn but the SUV still runs great with no real issues. Over the years I have replaced some common things like the fuel pump, alternator, belts and hoses but I am very impressed with the durability of the 6.2L GM engine that I average 13.9 mpg on regular gas. I am going to have the leather repaired and keep rolling on! I would buy another if I needed.
Ride her till the wheels fall off! I purchased a 2000 suburban with 160k miles on it for work and carrying my tools around and it runs great no issues. That 5.3 vortex engine is quite reliable, although not the best with low end power. I figure i can maybe get a couple years of work outta her before the wheels fall off. Not bad for a $2700 truck.
Yeah I don't know why he is so hard on GM trucks. Ive been working in the automotive repair industry for over ten years now, and I can tell you ALL chevy truck products are good vehicles. The gas mileage isn't the greatest, but the drive trains are soild.
The second generation Escalades (2002-2006) have a 6.0L engine. The 6.2L was implemented with the third generation in 2007. It's the same engine just 2/10ths of a liter more.
I strongly disagree with the Escalade. We bought ours used (a 2006 model year) in 2012. Late 2020 we had to fix the differential, but other than that really no major problems. The only reason we got rid of it in June of 2021 was because of a Car accident and it was totaled.
I have a 2017 Escalade and love it. I get 18 MPG all day long and have had no problems of any kind in 50k miles. Big, comfortable and can get most service and repairs (when needed) anywhere.
The 02-06 Cadillac Escalade with the Vortec LQ9 6.0 is one of the most reliable SUVs ever made in the 2000’s. The plastic you’re referring to was only found in center console cup holder covers everything else was great quality especially the seats.
‘05 6.0…165,000 miles…3 years ago steering sensor went out…last week rear oil pan leaking they had to drop trans to fix it $1800…only major work been done since bought brand new off lot
@@LGS_Inc that’s good, hopefully I can get to 300k range also, feels like the trans is running better, most definitely engine back on par after the oil leak fix 💪🏽
Forbes made a list of 30 cars to avoid at all cost and on that list there was: Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler JK.
I agree about the Beemer. I've had one and it's horrible on reliability and peace of mind. However, the Escalade is total opposite ! I recently bought a 11 year old Escalade, drove it around for a year, Enjoyed it big time and sold it for as much as I bought it for. The 2007 to 2014 generation are AWESOME !!!
Someone selling a 2011 Escalade near me for 7500 with 130k miles but one window is busted down other than that I think it’s in good condition.. think that’s a deal?
General Motors Company is overall a terrible company that is well known for making shitty quality vehicles. Do they make some vehicle's that turn out to be pretty good vehicle's that will run for $300,000 - 400,000 miles?... Yes they do but it is rare! I'd buy a Lincoln Navigator L Black Label any day before I would buy a Cadillac Escalade.
@@MemphisReins ALL of the gm vehicle i have owned have lasted over 300k milles ive had a 2022 blazer lasted the least at 140k milles, ive had a 13 escalade lasted 9 years with 600k milles the only reason i got rid of it is cuz it was old, ive had a 2003 camaro with 120k milles and a hole bunch others, the only cars ive had that havent lasted 100k miles are all toyotas mercedies, bmw, and lexus so your wrong abt many things. and heres another thing u cant count on any repares and getting good parts back becuze i never got any replaced and none of my past cars have ever ben in an accident in my ownership!
So much plastic. I've decided to go full metal. So question for Scotty. Should I go for a 1972, M60 Patton with 20k miles, or an 1980 M1 Abrams tank with 5k miles?
I had an 04 Escalade that I put over 120k miles on it with trips back and forth to Florida and back to New England. Drove it every weekend to somewhere far away like Niagra Falls, Bar Harbor, Cape Cod, and Toronto. Only problem I ever had with it was the transmission died at 198k. Cost me $700 to buy a used one and another $500 to have it put in. Lasted me another 48k. Finally got rid of it with 235k on it. Traded in for a 2019 Yukon Denali. here's to another 150k+ in the new Denali.
@aljaberhk not really. It started having issues. Electrical, mechanical, etc. I would have had to put over $10k-$15k worth of work into it if I kept it. The engine was also burning oil faster than it should have and was starting to develop a rattle. Having the engine rebuilt would have been a pretty penny. I'd rather put that money to the new car. So far I have no complaints about the new car. Runs great drives great its a dream.
Traverse/ acadia/ enclave/ outlook combo has to be the worst suvs You can buy. Worked on many and the wife owned a 2009 Saturn outlook awd. Terrible terrible vehicle and something was always wrong. They are stylish and comfortable but 2 diff “rebuilds” 5 wheel bearings, many airbag module reprograms and transmission computer issues all before 100k. Not to mention the engine kept getting condensation in the values and causing the engine to run in reduced mode. (That was the reason according to them)...Took 4 breakdowns and tows to the Chevy dealer before they figured would what would possibly be wrong. After we sold that pos outlook we decided we will never buy another gm again. What a lemon.
It wasn't actually a lemon. That's just the crappy way GM makes their vehicles. What else do you expect from the company that just announced their plans to screw every American employee they have left?
Cars ownership is kinda of like dog ownership. A guard dog does not have to be pretty just serve a purpose. Same for a hound dog, nothing better for hunting. This idea that the Aztek i ugly is very subjective to what you use it for..
Just because it has problems doesn't mean it's a piece of junk every Vehicles going to have problems that doesn't mean to Pontiacs a piece of junk because you have problems with it if you keep the upkeep on your vehicle and keep it maintenance maintained well and keep it serviced as often as possible it wouldn't have problems. So duh where's your brain
I just bought a Cadillac Escalade new. Not everyone wants to buy a POS Toyota car and drive it until it has 300k miles. I got really low interest financing, 5 year unlimited miles warranty. Aaaand Im very happy with it
2014 Traverse I own has 104k miles, never had a problem, regular maintenance. I think Scotty meant the 2009-2011 traverses, because 14-17 are very reliable and beautiful SUVS.
Actually Jeep stand for Just Enough Essential Parts. The Army made them east to fix in the field so they could get them going again fast in case the enemy was near by to attack them. I know this because I drove MP Jeeps in the Army in the 70's.
Going to have to disagree on the Escalade. I have a Yukon Denali which is the GMC version of the Escalade and mind has been solid. It's a 2008 with 230k miles and I've just had to do the rear main seal. Other than that it'd been solid. Yes the interior pieces are not the best quality but parts are not very expensive. These things will run forever if you just take care of it
Hey John, JD Power & Associates agrees with you, but on the Yukon. The Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon are all documented to reach 200k miles or more regularly. Of course, the Escalade is on the same platform. I think the difference though is that the Escalade has more electronics and touch screens that can fail.
The Pontiac Vibe (Matrix clone) is a great car. I've had one for 12 years/170,000mi and aside from normal maintenance the only problem I've had was a failed belt tensioner. We knew it was really a Toyota when we bought it, my wife just preferred the styling over the matrix...plus it was a few thousand cheaper.
Did you know that Toyota sold the Pontiac Vibe as the Toyota Voltz from 2002-2009 in Japan? They used the Pontiac styling rather than their own Matrix! True story!
@@ushittyuglylc5037 horribly made. Land Rover is almost always bottom of the JD power dependability surveys for a reason. I wanted an old discovery for a while but when I searched it on Craigslist almost all of them were mechanics specials
I disagree. It depends on what you want. modern BMWs are for car guys who can afford them (as in afford to maintain) and know how to maintain them. For most people though BMWs are not going to leave them very happy.
Actually then 1st Gen to 3rd Gen Escalades been pretty reliable.... my uncle had a 2007 one since new and it has around 416000km and it’s still running pretty good
I had a 2005 Cadillac Escalade that I bought used in 2007. I never had any problems like what's mentioned here. We had to fix the air conditioning and then normal maintenance. I drove it everyday until 2014. It just got stolen in 2021 and it was still running great.
They are trash. My daughters's boyfriend worked at a Mercedes/Range Rover dealership where the service bay had 13 lifts. At any time there would be two-three Benz up on a lift and the rest of the lifts held Rovers even though Benz outsold the RR 10 to 1.
A well taken care of Land Rover/Range Rover is a great car. My 2006 lr3 has over 160k on it and is frequently taken off-road. Still running strong with no major issues. The car has been a dream. On top of that it’s the easiest car to work on that I have ever owned, makes maintenance very easy. It’s very common for Land Rover owners to neglect their car and then blame the car when it breaks down
Tyler Pearson Well Land Rovers actually have very strong powertrains. It’s just the electricals that tend to get a bit wonky. It’s the case with most European cars. Strong powertrains but somewhat weak electrical systems. I’ve owned benzes and I’m on my 2nd consecutive BMW. No issues with the engines, just some weird electrical glitches. Nothing major tho.
Matthias H I’ll admit to that. I just get annoyed at the hate they get. First question I always get asked when people find out I own one is “oh wow how many times has it broke down?”
Nasima Akhter they have a lot of problems and only the dealership works on them. I had a Land Rover years again they charged me $100 to tell me the check engine light was on because the cap didn’t get on right
My Uncle’s Escalade ESV Platinum bought in early 2016 has 180000 miles just needs a transmission change. No other problems. He carries a lot of load on it.
Best 4x4 SUVs ever made 1999 Chevy Tahoe with 5.7 Vortex... Last forever parts are dirt cheap.....Everyone I've ever had went well into the 200k mile range with no major work....plus they are cheap too....I bought a 99 Tahoe a few years back with 96k miles for $3000 loaded.... put a new paint job on it and it looks awesome....
100% agree. I had a white 99' Tahoe that was stolen. I really hate the new headlight front grill design on the tahoe. Thinking about getting a 2014 with low miles.
I totally agree. I inherited my Dad's 99 Tahoe Lt 4x4 in 2015. It now has 55,000 actual miles. O love it, I baby it. I'll drive it till it dies, then rebuild it.
I love my Cadillac Escalade, I purchased a 2003 over 10 years ago, it had one owner and was in meticulous condition. It has been and is an amazing reliable SUV, many road trips and very few issues. I have had the brakes changed a few times and just took it in for a full service because it hadn't had one since I purchased it. $1000 later and it is purring like a baby. Over 200K miles and still going strong, Escalade will always be my first choice. I know I got fortunate with this purchase, there will always be vehicles out there that are lemons or money pits, thankfully this was not the case with mine.
@@NaRcOsAtAnIcO98 keep up on the maintenance and you'll get another hundred thousand miles out of it, facts, I live near Chicago and drove mine to New Orleans last year, and it's still strong af, same trans too!
I have owned 5 Escalades and have put over 200k and never had problems just regular maintenance, but what can you expect from Scott he said not to buy a Honda element because it's hard to change a starter what kind of mechanic is he. I agree with all the other vehicles but not with an Escalade
@@unique-daann6098Same story for me, worst part is my mother drove past the states just to acquire it some years ago. It’s once you exceed a certain threshold, like about 150k miles
I bought a 2003 Escalade with 50K miles, now at 108,000 only replaced tires and fuel pump, brake pads still better than 50% one of the safest and trustworthy cars, does say check Ride Control. Love this car.
I saw a BMW X5 spin out in front of me on the highway at 75MPH after it hit a pothole (regulars know to avoid this lane on this section of the highway) filled with rainwater. I believe what Scotty says about the bad ESC.
I have a friend that bought a 2008 cadillac escalade with 147k miles that only lasted him 2 months. After that the transmission blew out! $6500 down the drain SMFH!
Thats because morons never service the transmission and then when it hits the used dealers lot or someone is trying to sell it, they do a quick trans flush. NEVER do a trans flush on a GM transmission, it even says not to do it in the manual but if you do it on a high mileage GM you will probably lose the transmission. If you just drop the pan and change the fluid/filter you'll probably make it to 300k+ miles
@@Ascendaeus No, these people are idiots and Scotty's anti GM bias is ridiculous. For example the Aztek didn't leak oil and water from the intake manifold because it was a dry manifold and ironically it was built on the same assembly line as his beloved Toyota.
I had a 2004 Pontiac Aztek and got 230k miles out of it with only one battery, brake pads, tires, and regular maintenance. Everyone else I knew that owned one had the same experience. I’m aware of the 60 degree V6 issues, but overall the Aztek was functionality a great vehicle, if a bit ugly.
I had heard that too. I know a lot of people hate Azteks. But they’re supposed to actually be fairly dependable. I’m surprised Scotty watched Breaking Bad, and didn’t get that the reason the mechanic said the vehicle would last another 300k miles is because they have that reputation, in the automotive industry. I mean, engine failure after 40k miles, on any vehicle, sounds 100% like operator error.
I still drive my 2000 F 250 I have 378,000 miles on it. Replaced the seat covers. I tuned up the engine at 250,000 miles and it didn’t need it. It’s still all original. Replaced the belt once. If I have my way, I’ll drive it another 20 years. It pulls a landscape trailer, and a Mobil home on the weekends.
But I want to buy an Escalade with 200,000 miles for 5,000 and spend another 5,000 on some 26 inch knock off rims with rubber bands on them so I can impress my homies.
@@elcoholic79 Gotcha! Well, I'm in the suburbs in the New York City metro area so here, AWD is a must in the winter so I wouldn't even consider disabling my four wheel drive on my Yukon.
@@retroguy9494 reason i did mines was for more hp. im putting a stage 2 cam with stage 2 trans and 2800 stall. Headers etc. My wifes escalade is still awd so we just use hers if we have to
Jeep went rapidly downhill when Chrysler acquired it. Then Fiat bought Chrysler and the brand fell off a cliff. Anybody remember the old Jeep inline "6"? Talk about bulletproof. Good things CAN happen when automakers mix. But mostly bad things happen.
I have a Ram 2500 and my girlfriend has a jeep liberty, the ram does irritate me sometimes but the jeep has literally never had a major issue. The first thing that I noticed on it which gave me concern is how the bumper is literally plastic which makes me question how long the vehicle will even last
My mother in law had a Traverse and it was the biggest pile of garbage I've seen in a long time. The transmission failed after 25,000 miles, the rear main seal failed, gauge cluster failed, sunroof began to leak, and the tailgate latch broke. She traded it in 10 months later. What an absolute POS of a vehicle.
@coolwhip455 That's bc Chevy is complete garbage nowadays. All Chevy worries about is all their trim models & special editions instead of fixing or recalling what's under the hood. I have 2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ with 6.2L V8 & transmission had to be rebuilt before 90,000 miles. All in all we'd been out well over $10,000 if we hadn't purchased the 100,000 extended warranty. I can't count how many times we had to take it to dealership had the same #4 valve drop twice plus heated seats going out, electrical issues etc etc has been fixed. Never will buy a Chevy or GMC truck or any other model they sell. I'm sorry your mother in law had those issues so early. It just shows you how shitty Chevy's are nowadays.
Sounds like my Acadia Denali after 30k power steering gear went out $2500 bucks to replace and 40k ac leaks $1200 to fix. Now at 60k leaks oils from god knows where. After I get rid of it I’m done with GM.
Whats really sad too is that Gm has some really good concepts and designs but their shoddy workmanship and engineering makes almost all of them a total pile of garbage. I have an old 97 K1500 Silverado with 250,000 miles on it and still runs great. GM did make some good vehicles in the past but in the last decade the quality has nose dived. I still like the Camaros but thats about it. I'd never buy another GM vehicle ever again.
My personal experiences with escalades can tell you that the third gen is the one to stay away from. The newer 4th gen, is actually pretty reliable for the most part. It will suffer from luxury car issues, like the fact that the shocks in the back are air shocks and they of course, don't last as long as normal hydraulic shocks. Some times vented or heated seats go out, or maybe the cue screen. The 2 mechanical recurring issues are, the a/c condenser, and the torque converters with the 8 speed. The a/c condenser were not made by gm, and tend to leak in a certain spot. The torque converters go out from the transmission fluid burning them out. If a mechanic changed the converter, they will most likely put different fluid in it as well. If you look for a used 4th gen out of warranty, then those jobs have already been done most likely, and you'll be good to go. The newest 4th gens come with 10 speeds now, so you won't have to worry about the torque converted issue.
The Escalade has a 4l80 those are solid transmission. I agree with hvac problems but the transmission are reasonably reliable and the motors in those are great
Range Rover should be number one it will brake your bank first day you buy it We know you hate GM cars but don't say Escalade is a bad SUV I put 180k miles and still going strong
Hi Scotty - big fan of your videos How about a video on the top 5 SUVs you should buy used... I am looking for one but the choices are too many Likes who agree with me on the video idea
I'm not Scotty obviously but if you are willing to buy an older model, i suggest a Suzuki Vitara/Grand Vitara/Xl7 around 1999 to 2005. Very reliable, very competent in harsh winters, fuel friendly and fun to drive. Parts are sometimes costly and you have to make sure that rust did not affected a vital place. Otherwise, can't tell anything bad. They're even available in manual or auto, RWD or 4x4, short, normal or long version, convertible, 4 or 6 cyl, etc.
We traded our 2006 Honda Odyssey with 187,00 miles for a 2016 Honda Pilot AWD with 60,000 miles this year. The Odyssey pulled our travel trailer (3200 lbs loaded) every summer for about 3000 miles and it ran fine when we traded it. We're expecting the Pilot to do the same.
I'll save you the time of waiting and us the time for having to watch the painful display he'd produce... *insert 5 toyota/lexus SUVs* there's your list.
I have a Chevy traverse 2011. Most comfortable and reliable suv. Maybe I got lucky but with what I’ve experienced it’s a great car. I know this channel is all about the Toyota but the traverse has good gas mileage, smooth ride and handles great. Hard to pass up the traverse in my opinion. Now the engine isn’t the easiest to work on and is expensive too. But, I’ve only had to replace the alternator for the 205k miles I’ve owned it. Been great for me. Just saying.
I've know of a Escalade 03 that runs really good. Over 100k miles. It sid have the AC computer problem early on and was fixed still under warranty. Differential & Trans are perfect. Only other issue was a fuel pump. It is the 4 wheel drive kind. I can't agree with that one. But I wouldn't buy because of gas milage.
Is just the ac resistor 230 dollars autozone... 25 on Ebay.. yup i got it on Ebay works like a charm.. ive had my 03 for 10 years no problems just recently replaced the fuel pump due to the wiring which is a common problem and a fairly easy job to do i must say.. complete opposite to my lincoln town cars fuel pump..
I worked at an auto parts store. The cars that I often saw with over 300 k miles still going strong: Tahoes and Yukons, first gen Ford Escape 6 cyl. VW diesels,Jeep Cherokee 4.0,Ford Crown Victoria, a few Toyotas but surprisingly very few,and F 150
yeah but thats a parts store, toyotas almost never need parts. thats why theres an issue lol. the rest, start wearing out around 2-300k, thats why you saw those. sure they were 'still running strong' yet the people needed parts for them. they weren't trash but still needed some help, there are definitely more than a few that are trash long before that though
The Crown Victorias that were dispatched to deputies during the 2000s have smaller nozzles on the cylinders cranking the engine, making them quite excellent on gas. Necessary for high speed pursuits
Have a 2016 escalade & I love it never got an issue at all.. Had a 03 & 07 wich I never had a problem with eighter. So sometimes its the negativity of maintenance wich will bring issues.
My dad has a 2003 Cadillac Escalade esv, and he beat the crap out of it. I'm talking towing thousands of pounds over the rated limit, running around with only a couple quarts of oil in the pan. Rarely washes it, and just daily drives it. It has over 250,000 miles on it and it still runs. We replaced the transmission once, and the alternator, water pump, and fuel pump a couple of times and that's about it. Did I mention he doesn't change the brakes until he gets tired of hearing the rotors grinding for over a month! This thing was treated like the vehicle it was based on, a pickup truck, its amazing it is still a survivor. The early escalades aren't bad at all.
"We replaced the transmission once, and the alternator, water pump, and fuel pump a couple of times and that's about it." When you replace the brake lines and the lower body falls off into the yard, you should have a nice vehicle after you run down all the sensors that failed. Just guessing you have SRS, ABS and a check engine lights on along with "service ride control" on because you put work truck shocks on it. Window motors, drivers side lock/window switch, failed heated mirrors, CD's stuck in the dash, rear wiper doesn't work, glove box rattles at any and every speed (even sometimes without moving, just getting in, it'll rattle). POS
That's more than I'd want to deal with. You should get 250000 trouble free miles out of a vehicle though. I've come to expect it with mine and I haven't had to replace an alternator, fuel pump, or transmission since I started buying Toyotas 16 years ago. One cracked radiator at 160k, and regular maintenance other than that, on 4 different vehicles. Knock on wood. If your dad really did all that, especially the constant towing over the limit, then that's held up pretty well I guess. Everyone I know that has a GM vehicle has replaced the fuel pump. I had a 1 ton work truck with an allison transmission that had to be replaced at 50k. It was supposed to be bullet proof. I had a ton of weight on it, but my previous truck had been an overloaded half ton that took 200k with no motor or tranny issues. The half ton felt like it was gonna roll every time I turned lol.
InForTheWin32 I can say the same too. Scotty is just too biased and can’t stand the fact that their are GM vehicles that are super reliable. He only likes Toyota and Ford
My 2014 silverado mechanically has been a reliable tank...... the paint is horrible though sadly never seen such bad paint quality but mechanically it's been great
I just purchased a 2004 pontiac vibe with 220k miles on it for $1500...It is in great shape, good tires on it, all service records including a recent catalytic converter, struts and lots of other suspension parts. being a current corolla owner I am looking to get the odometer over 300k on this vehicle.
I don't agree with you about Escalade. I bought one 2.5 years old in 2011. It's 2019 and have never had a major problem with it. Runs perfectly. I have only replaced the engine mounts and the cruise control box under the dash. Less than a $1000 maintenance (not including brakes) in almost 10 years. That is awesome performance. Will get another one in the future.
They had a zillion recalls over the years but that's free fix. My escape is at around 175k had it's first problem. When it gets fueled up it floods the engine. So it has to be fueled up running and it blows black fuel smoke while filling up. It's the gas ventilation like $100 for parts only. That 100 made me say F this vehicle so I just got a 2017 dodge journey just now. Then I got on this video scared he was going to name the dodge lol

You're one of the lucky one's. My problem started 2 mnths after I bought my used 2012 Traverse. Bad gas smell when I turn the air on. My headlights would go off on me and they are brand new and wouldn't come back on for a couple of days. My airbag light would come on and off every other week lol. Its just crazy cause theres always something new on my dashboard at least once a month that something is wrong with the SUV
Don’t buy an Escalade with over 200,000 miles. The major problem I had with mine in under the 200k Mark is just the water and fuel pump. Since I broke 230k Mark, I’ve replaced transmission, transfer case and wheel bearings. The engine still runs amazing though!!
I was glad to see my nurse was finally getting rid of her Pontiak Aztek. She was excited and brought it to the office to show off. It was hard to be happy for her when she showed up w/ her new, used Chevy Traverse.

I bought used Lexus because you Scotty and no problems yet. It's 2008 es350 drives like new just needs seat covers and new dashboard. It had 1 recall for airbag but that didn't malfunction. Lexus are boring but very dependable.

Wow surprised not to see a Land Rover on this list. Their SUVs are legendary for their issues
Its mostly just transmission and air suspension problems which arent that bad (the transmission ones are mostly just mismatched gears), compared to stuff like total transmission failures, engine failures, AWD failures, etc, these things make the current LR/RRs look like RAV4s
Dot Dot personally I love Range Rover. The issues aren’t that bad they are just more costly, which is the trade off for such a nice vehicle
Most of ppl lease them
I had an LR3. Worth the truly exclusive luxury ride and experience,
..yes, no, yes...no.
The gas mileage isn't the greatest, but the drive trains are soild.
with gas at 2 bucks a gallon your doing alright!
The second generation Escalades (2002-2006) have a 6.0L engine. The 6.2L was implemented with the third generation in 2007. It's the same engine just 2/10ths of a liter more.
@@JT-sl3ui my mistake. I see 6.2L engines all day and it was stuck in my mind.
I strongly disagree with the Escalade. We bought ours used (a 2006 model year) in 2012. Late 2020 we had to fix the differential, but other than that really no major problems. The only reason we got rid of it in June of 2021 was because of a Car accident and it was totaled.

@aljaberhk not really. It started having issues. Electrical, mechanical, etc. I would have had to put over $10k-$15k worth of work into it if I kept it. Not to mention the engine kept getting condensation in the values and causing the engine to run in reduced mode. After we sold that pos outlook we decided we will never buy another gm again. What a lemon.

Hey John, JD Power & Associates agrees with you, but on the Yukon. The Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon are all documented to reach 200k miles or more regularly. How much does the rear main seal cost to repair
What are your thoughts in buying a Hybrid Escalade 2010 with 294k miles?
The Pontiac Vibe (Matrix clone) is a great car. I've had one for 12 years/170,000mi and aside from normal maintenance the only problem I've had was a failed belt tensioner.

I am with you on Escalades! They are very durable work horses. My 2002 Escalade has almost 200k on it.

Wow I bought a Used 01 Suburban more than a Year ago with 177k & it's doin' fine Now 17 thousand miles Later, is the Escalade really so Different?
The trans rebuild cost is normally 1500- 2500. He was a sucker.
I bought a 2007 suburban 150.000 miles had it for 18 months, 8000 in repairs, needless to say I own a ford now
I had a 2004 Pontiac Aztek and got 230k miles out of it with only one battery, brake pads, tires, and regular maintenance. Everyone else I knew that owned one had the same experience. I’m aware of the 60 degree V6 issues, but overall the Aztek was functionality a great vehicle, if a bit ugly.
i never thought it was ugly, it was different which was nice
Thats a unicorn of an aztek. It wont be a sad day when they are all off the road.

The transmission failed after 25,000 miles, the rear main seal failed, gauge cluster failed, sunroof began to leak, and the tailgate latch broke. She traded it in 10 months later. What an absolute POS of a vehicle.

I know a lady that had the engine replaced at 40k and cv axles at 20k, lucky for her it was a leace
I'd never buy another GM vehicle ever again.

yukons are basically the same car as an escalade and a tahoe/suburban
Yeah the 3rd gen tahoes and Escalade sucks from what I have read.
I own a third gen Escalade. Other than an exhaust manifold I never had any issues with it. *knock on wood*
The Escalade has a 4l80 those are solid transmission. I agree with hvac problems but the transmission are reasonably reliable and the motors in those are great

"We replaced the transmission once, and the alternator, water pump, and fuel pump a couple of times and that's about it."
When you replace the brake lines and the lower body falls off into the yard, you should have a nice vehicle after you run down all the sensors that failed.
