This is excellent! Could you please do it for the other world ballet/royal ballet videos?
thank you so, so much for this! if you could, can you please do this as well for the 2014 world ballet day video from the royal ballet as well?
i love how marianela does what she wants and disappears for a bunch of exercises but when she does do them she just nails them god I love her
Is Marianela the girl with pink t-shirt? Just curious
@@belenmontserratobregonguti4476 She's wearing a black leotard & floral skirt
@@rebeccaconchar4939 Many thanks! do you then who’s wearing the pink t-shirt? I loved her!

its marianela nuñez in pizza socks for me
Will plie for pizza ;)
It cracks me up that a lot of serious ballet schools have rules about what you have to wear in class {like pnk tights and black leo} but companies let you wear whatever. If you go look at the Mariinsky class, a lot of them start bundled up like they're trekking to the North Pole!

It always amazes me that the pregnant ladies are doing class like they aren't growing another human. It was as much as I could do to waddle from the sofa to the fridge.
Everybody is different, but it is very important to maintain training during pregnancy for professional athletes, dancers and other folks like that. Of course, not on the usual level, with considerations and after discussion with medic. After several years of hard work and exercises 9 months of rest can be very stressful for trained body. Damaging even.
I was going to mention that and ask who it was and offer congratulations. I noticed her mainly at the barre---allegro and turns (throws your center off) are hard with a small life growing just there inside you. I had a girlfriend who was rehearsing Aurora when she learned she was pregnant and managed her performances when she was about 8 weeks. I can't imagine what the balances in the Rose Adagio are like even that early in pregnancy, but she did them! The culture has changed so much. 25 years ago you had to choose and now so many ballerinas start families and come back stronger than ever.
@@minissa2009 Thank you for your insights! 🙏🙏🙏

The pianist breathes such remarkable life into everything he plays. Through him, all the music seems "new"
An historic World Ballet Day. Dancing even with masks. Bravo dancers, Brian and Rob!
You're an idiot!!
@@lmarti204 why?
@@amisplm Because I say so.
@@lmarti204 🤦♀️
@@amisplm You're welcome!
why do i love watching class more than performances lol
Because it's like a peek into everyday life for them, without all the otherworldly costumes and makeup, maybe? I love playing class too... much as I love my dancers' performances too.
not sure ..interested in physical technique maybe ..horrendous imo ..hate the music..hate the exercises ..dancers just automated like sports people ..whereas performances ..beautiful music, dancers really perform..have to act ..put together technique with artistry, musicality
@@balletcat2 dont watch it then. Amazing in many dance lovers opinion. if they didnt do all this hard work then you wouldnt see beautiful dancers performing amazing on stage. Its great also that that they are dancing to such strange music you wouldnt image would be appropriate, Viva Espagne, well meet again and seen them practicing to disco numbers and Bee Gees Absolutly amazing
I love it when the teacher is giving the steps at the barre and half the dancers are going through it with their hands
As horrible as this pandemic is, it’s given us your world ballet day in the opera house! Grateful for the accidental magic of the company class at the opera house and how we feel close to you. Thank you🙏💕

Disabled with MS, I LOVE watching these talented and masked young people warming up! It lifts my spirits as I let myself feel like I’m actually dancing, too. Bravo to you dancers, instructors, and definitely to Rob, the pianist, who is so talented, as well!
Such gorgeous technique, it warms my heart to see the Royal Opera House dancing again, even during Covid
I'm in love with Marianela's pizza socks
So happy to have Brian Maloney teaching the class, accompanied by the inimitable Rob Clark. Perfect combination! Wish I could recognize the dancers more easily, but they are ALL superb. Following the class, what wonderful rehearsals! Many thanks to you all!
What a wonderful experience to see these beautiful athletes at work. We're so privileged to see their beautiful talent. Rob's accompaniment is so perfect. Brian maloney is brilliant.
Thanks for the post -- was wondering the teacher's name!
Ok i just want the pregnant lady series she just is so beautiful dancing with her belly and i hope she sees this!!! Im so inspired!!! I mean she looks about 7 months and her modifications were so appropriate so amazed she handled class! OUT STANDING!!!
I think her name is Leticia Stock - she’s on Tik Tok and her content is amazing, she announced the birth of her baby yesterday! ♥️
Watching this gives me such a deep appreciation for how hard and long they practice to recreate themselves into works of art for their audiences. Dancers, we are so grateful for your generosity!
Thanks!! 😍
This pianist is giving me “opening night orchestral” real- ness!! He’s great! lol
And the dancers are just breathtaking!
Marcelino Sambé just gets better and better!
the pianist is excellent ... impeccable ...
Rob is a legend
500 year old dance form- still going strong and beautiful!!!
Pianist is wonderful and I was 'dancing' with the company. Absolutely wonderful doing class masked up! Well well done!
A year ago, Nov 2019, I was in that exact theatre, having travelled half of the planet to watch almost all Principals and some of my favourite ROH dancers (except McRae as he was injured but replaced by another Sydney boy Campbell) in multiple productions.
What has happened in between then and now is also worth remembering. However nothing comparable to those few nights back in London. ROH is definitely the best ballet company in my opinion, not just for the marvellous dancers and production, but also the diversity and inclusiveness.
We will return - that’s for sure. Good luck ROH!
Yes , diversity !
I just love the pianist! He’s brilliant! Always saw him in the videos. What’s his name may I know?
I would love to know too he is extraordinary!
That's Robert Clark: www.roh.org.uk/people/robert-clark
@@RoyalBalletAndOpera Thank you so much ❤️
yes, he is absolutely unique!
I was just remarking. It took me a minute to understand what he was playing for plies. His phrasing is just lush and gorgeous! I remember ages ago having a change in class accompanist who was less than inspired and hearing a classmate say "There is a God!" It must be a joy even to do barre with this gentleman playing.
Perfect! By far the best broadcasting, presenter-led intro and then just let us watch the amazing dancers without interruption. Fantastic camera coverage, lighting, pianist, terrific performances even in masks. Congrats for putting together this production at this really challenging time.
Lovely! So glad they are able to be back on stage doing what the love the most! As always absolutely amazing!!
Robert is also amazing at the piano!
I wish the cinematographer focused more attention on the dancers movements as this is what we are studying and admiring! Thank you.
Wonderful music and pianist.........

Such a beautiful class ! and amazing pianist , wishing the nomal life returns soon, so dancers dont need to wear mask during the classes, thank you so much dancers!
These videos have been a godsend during lockdown. I have no experience with dance, but since I'm so inactive, I've been following along with the warm up routines almost daily. Thanks so much to Brian and Rob!
Love watching the classes. And the pianist is just magic! Thanks for the chance to watch

Thank you for this. So much. All my love and support to all the dancers and staff. 💙🌙
Amazing! Incredible that they can do class in masks. Brilliant. ❤️
🩰 I'm so happy this happen this year. Unfortunately, the dark stage and the wide angle... The dancers were minuscules on my screen. I would have loved to see them closer like the other year, but I understand the mandatory distanciation.
I was expecting an audience of cardboard cutouts!!!!
Cast your screen on TV which I believed you can have a wider view

Still keep so strong!
i couldn't touch my toes or do a backbend when i was a child. as an old lady it's all i can do to stoop over to pick something off the floor.
thank you SO much dancers for just being you.
Wonderful to see the company again, and what a shame Covid is limiting their performing activity over there. I like that they are dancing on the stage, but I miss the intimacy of the rehearsal room and the mirrors showing snippets of action in reflection. I do feel more involved in the smaller venue, whereas the large theatre returns it to a "normal" observed performance because of the distance.
The masks are understandable (with a few noses peeking out) and it must be difficult controlling the breathing, but it is amazing how much of the "performance" is affected by not being able to see their faces. They may not be telling a story, or presenting a rehearsed facial component, but it is usually so entertaining to watch their faces and to read their thoughts to a degree.
We are lucky here in New Zealand as the royal New Zealand Ballet are once again on tour and presenting The Sleeping Beauty. We have also just had a full-on production of the musical Mary Poppins at the Civic Theatre in Auckland which seats over 2000 people and they did great business. We are so lucky, and I hope the UK gets back into its artistic swing very soon.
I really like this annual event
Absolutely lovely. My next goal is to see them live!
so much fun, this for world's ballet fun and a all of the world's ballet fun..
Thank you for posting this!! Just a suggestion for next year, can we get more close-ups on the dancers’ legs, feet, and port de bras during the company class? I’m sure everyone else (as students or just ballet enthusiasts) would like to watch and learn how the pros handle these combinations and work their muscles. Thank you again!
I suggest you watch their company class from 2018. Not only does the wonderful Olga lead the class, but because the cameras are right there with the dancers in the rehearsal room, only a few meters away, you get all the close ups you could wish for! It's one of my favourites.
I like brief glimpses of dancers faces also
@@1houndgal Absolutely!
They usually do this, but I'm pretty sure they decided not to this year due to covid protocol

Gorgeous. Thank you!
Fantastic pianist ❤
Just simply enjoy watching the technique class.
when the camera is far off, or zoomed out, it's impossible to see what they're doing.
please film either the whole stage with while being as zoomed in as possible, or close-ups of a few dancers (feet in frame!). thanks!
I disagree. I enjoy seeing them moving in time as an ensemble, showcasing their connection to each other.
@@drekfletch well then we agree! i like that too! but my point is: the shots with the whole ensemble in view are often too far zoomed out, the stage takes up only half the screen and the rest is dark & empty theatre. can't see any dancer clearly then.
at the same time the shots of a single dancer of a few dancers are often too far zoomed in, so that it doesn't frame their whole body. my comment was that i wished the camera didn't do the extremes so much.
Great to see the view of stage from back of stalls, but miss the content of particularly the barre work. Enjoyed very much.
Maravilhosos!!
Profundamente , e sempre grata !!!
The long shots are beautiful.
So frustrating that the videographers concentrate on showing faces when footwork combinations are going on..... They should atleast understand little bit of the form which they are trying to capture.
Há algo que as " pessoas comuns" não compreendem... A Arte É Universal...e uma linguagem comum da humanidade....toca o coração de TODOS....
Um Americano, um Russo, Francês,Inglês ou Chinês compreendem e se emocionam com a Arte.
I miss ballet classes so much.
Thank you! ROH!
