I love how the teacher basically says "ok so you're going to bfisbalfbkfofhwiwbfkfownwos got it?! Ok let's go" and the dancers are like yup ok got it
They've done the various steps more than a thousand times
Lol..🥰
I’d be the only one in the class doing the wrong step then looking around trying to get it right.
I'd be the Mr Bean of the class.
That is how it be tho
Imagine having a pianist for your gym workout.
Ooh or a Drummer! Louder Pete, louder
Haha fr
keeps you moving on the beat.
YUS LIKE "FRANCOIS TENDU MUSIC" then u go take a coffe with him in break lel
i probably wouldn't afford to go to that gim anymore😂
I wish I ran my life as well as Olga runs a ballet class.
well a ballet class is only 90 minutes long :)
Isn't she lovely 😍♥️
She is the softer version of a Russian teacher
Same 😞
Excellent teacher very thorough
That pianist is doing an extreme workout of his own in his corner. I can't imagine the stamina, both mental and physical, it would take to play decently difficult pieces for almost an entire hour without sheet music.
Playing piano most of his life. Can play in his sleep.
Amazing pianist!
his practice and the music is im sure memorized for ever
Maybe you could, if you would play the same pieces every morning for a year or so! 😉
Olga has this soft but firm teaching style, that I hope all the ballet and dance teachers would have.
Not nearly firm enough. By a long way.
and she's a guest teacher but she knows everyone's names
Agreed: I had the honour of having her teach character when I took a teaching course. Pianist lovely, too.
She's teaching company class, not kids.
Is she english?
playing piano for a class like this seems hard as hell.
And no music! Talented chap xx
Hard as heck!
I was just thinking the same thing as I saw him playing so passionate.... so tiring just looking at him ... 😓
How does he know what song to play for each sequence?
@@shenraj885 at times she was telling him what to do, like when she told him to play a tango. And he also probably just has years of experience with the class and knows whats goes with the movements.
I would like to say thankyou for this wonderful class. I was a professional ballet dancer but I am now 63 years old . I feel so inspired by this video. I love Olga's teaching and I love the Royal Ballet Dancers. I do the barre work with them using the back of a chair in my living room! It makes me sweat, feel alive and smile! Thankyou to you all.
I do the barre work also - 57 - and often think that my life went by too quickly
- 57 - 63 - years young🙌🤸♀️
L and Michele, you both are inspirational! ❤️
I am 60 and do the same, but I still take ballet classes.
@@cathymckay5915 that is so cool. I use these wonderful vids to be my class. I always wanted to take ballet. My sister and when we young would do 'ballet' when we had to do the dishes. Ballet is such an awesome physical therapy for a body akin to yoga. I do both not enough but i stay interested and 'practice. The teacher is so soothing
If the is an afterlife, I want to re-incarnate into a ballet dancer
I would like this so fking badly
Never too late! It will never be my career but it can always be a hobby. I have ladies in their 60s in my class doing it for the first time and I see improvement!
start now! it’s never too late
Ballet is harder then it looks but it’s so fun
@@ChesireWaltz I am 26 I took ballet at 24 for 6-7 month, then I swifted to contemporary, but I still prefer ballet. I wish I was really good at it ha ha
That pianist is wonderful!!!!
I'm pretty sure he is playing Big Spender from Sweet Charity around the 5 min mark... amazing!!
That first bit on the piano is The Cavatina.
@@laurenvanmanen9083 yep !
looney tunes theme!
@@emerybayblues by Stanley Myers in the Deer Hunter
The teacher has such a great teaching style! Such warmth and care for her dancers but still leads the class with a firm and strong hand. She sets the 'barre' for ballet teachers everywhere😉
Dat pun tho😂
Oh no you didn't
@@Gwenyfith 😅
Absolutely. Even with all those dancers she still managed do give corrections to each of them throughout the combo. Maybe that was just because of the camera, but it was very nice to see. Wish my classes were more like what we see her doing
What's the Teachers Name?
I love how she smiles at everybody as she walks around and encourages people by really working with them. Looks like fun!
it's so comforting to see the professionals not know the combinations either, and it was really fun when i recognized the music
So meditative. Curling up in a warm blanket, sipping a cup of tea, and watching this has made my morning
Excelente!!!
Yes I let it run as background music as I do other things:) Ballet is meditative.
Wow cozy. Man life can be so cozy when you don't contemplate or stress too much, but it's hard.
ajdrewello making my night. This is insane
I am jealous I just had a 3 hour class
They’re all dressed so casual, I love it!
When you "are", you don't feel the need to "seems"
@@mariaferrini3397 Well said!
@@mariaferrini3397 well, I think people are shocked in these comments because dance schools and a academies often have a dress & hair code (which is totally valid for a school setting so everyone is the same and teachers can really see the line and the feet) but they don't realize that professional ballet dancers can wear whatever they want to class as long as it's safe and serves the movement.
I think they dress like that to keep their muscles warm when dancing. If their muscles get cold while they are dancing it could put them at higher risk of an injury.
@@siribaimusic Yeah I had started at a place that had a dress code but I wasn't really aware of the dress code (because I was so young-started at 3) so I just wore whatever my mom bought me. Then we moved and the new studio I was in didn't have much of one (requirements were just tights and hair up, we could wear whatever over the tights, except jeans/trousers) which I wasn't aware of and thought tat I had to wear a leotard+skirt every time. then my friend came in in a t-shirt and shorts over her tights and I was like "is she aloud to do that?!" and I tried to ask my mom if I could dress like that for lessons/practice and she said that I was not aloud to just wear casual clothes which upset me so much at the time; I ended up hating leotards and skirts over all and left the ballet studio. Uh now I'm going through gender transitioning so that might have been why I was so upset.
That pianist though. Gives it his all for the whole class. Amazing.
Can we all just appreciate that the pianist is performing his own little musical theatre concert :)
Edit: omg 1.5k?! Thank you
Edit of the edit: thanks for all the likes
IKR! So talented...
Playing Tom Jones 😍
The pianist is wonderful so inspiring
I was just thinking about it right now! Such great pianist!!!
AMAZING!!! Just heavenly....!!!!! Angel of music from the Panthom for rond de jambes ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Incredible pianist!!! Marvelous ARTISTS!!!!!!!
every person in that room is so beautiful
Being in shape and youthful are mainstays of beauty. It's sad that the first is rare to see in the West...
Makes me want to ballet 🤣
@@swish043 it has nothing to do with that. Dance companies hire people who have it all, talent and beauty. Good for them tho.
because they are fit ; Any person can look 10X better when they exercise rigourously
12.35 even Rob the pianist gets corrections 😂
I know, sounded like she said,” A little quicker” to him at 24:00 hahahaha

@@aliciaanderson2599 Thank you.
@@SeraJanelle No problem :)
jep😁but he is nevertheless awsome in his play,i would love to hear him live
The pianist's improvisations on many well-known Broadway, standard, and other pieces are unbelievable. "I Got Rhythm" at just before the hour mark is off the charts. I envision him with a calmly fulfilling life, playing all day at the ballet, then a harmonious home life to recharge. Ahh.
Its amazing. She call them by their names. She is so kind.
The teacher has such a lovely personality

@@Daenakena Cavatina (The Deer Hunter theme), by Stanley Myers
I noticed little mistakes here and there and that made me feel so relieved. I've been taking ballet classes for a year and a half and it's so hard for me to the point that I cry sometimes when I get home. When I think about professional dancers, I always picture them like flawless but they actually make mistakes sometimes.
I was just about to tear up until I read your comment. I want to start back dancing and I'm so far from this, but you're right we all have room for growth!
There is a reason why usually a ballet education takes about 8 years.
Many many years of daily hard work for many hours (daily, too).
And then after finishing 8 years of intense education (or even longer), one is still a (highly trained) beginner.
So don't worry and just know that 1,5 years of practise is just the VERY beginning and it is normal to not be "flawless" just like that in such a short amount of time.
Plus, you mustn't be perfect, only professionals must head for the most flawless possible.
Enjoy it as much as you can as the movements itself bring so much joy...❤
Yeah, ballet - it needs lots lots of repeating and practising but then the results will be there😍
(Usually all "classical" professions need the most practice. For examply many classical musicians practise 6h daily to reach those high results.
Ballet dancers train even more hours daily)
And trust me, every ballet dancers has shed many many (many!) tears before becoming professional...(speaking out of experience having been a ballet dancers myself...)
Yes, even the best ballet dancers make mistakes as this is just class and not stage performance.
And about taking class:
only with the courage of practicing something wich doesn't work out yet, even if maybe "failing" at first or making again and again mistakes - only like that one can get better and improve!
So keep going girl, don't let some "mistakes" take away your love for ballet💖🩰
There outfits look like they were in a who can dress the fastest competition and just grabbed whatever they could find
So true😂 specially the girl with pink sweater😂
I’m a dancer. I dated a guy years ago who would come to my rehearsals and once asked me after I completed a dance class, “Is there a reason why all dancers dress like they’re homeless?” He was being so serious! Funniest thing I’d ever heard, and I had honestly never noticed before he said that. 😂
Its probably cold there idk
And here I am thinking, "this is my kind of style!" I wish I can wear this everyday! 😆Looks so comfy and warm but you can move around so freely in them!
Well most clothes you see are pretty warm and that's not in particular because the accademy decided to keep aircon to arctic levels but to warm up mucles faster. Of course you sweat too so you just grab what's in your closet right. But anyway great uplifting morning class. Loved the teacher.
The teacher sounds like a native French speaker when she uses words like «plié, demi-plié, coup de pied...» what a great accent !
I think she's Russian, I also heard her speak Italian in this video at one point
She's Czech - one of the commentators said she speaks a lot of languages too. Def, love her accent! Olga is my fave teacher from these videos, she seems so lovely and inspiring ☺
@@helenchelmicka3028 she is Russian but was born in Prague
Another comment: I feel like this year there is less commentary from the hosts and I’m SO grateful for that. Being able to hear the instructor and corrections, as well as the combinations being given is so nice, and I think in years past that has sometimes been overpowered by the commentary. Many of us watching (I think) know much of the information in the commentary and are more interested in what is happening in the class. The comments being saved for the rest periods this year is so nice. Please keep it up.
agree 100%!
I was thinking the same. And so grateful for the presenter's sensitivity to this.
I absolutely agree!
Agreed.
Yes! I hope they see that we like this better 😊
When they were at the very end of barre and they were doing the rises, I think it’s really nice how they were talking to each other and smiling at each other. It’s nice to think that they are nice and supportive towards one another. It’s cute!
Olga is the finest teacher, she is so well respected .
You can see the look of pain already in their faces when she says we need to do the rises 😂
i can feel my legs cramping even if i wasn't doing it myself 😂
I am recovering from a calf tear i suffered about 3 weeks ago... Watching them do the rises makes me close my eyes haahha, but honestly i'm in awe to see how strong calves they have developed... My dream ❣️
Oh wow I was reading your comment when she said it! Lol
time stamp?

this is like therapy to me... makes me feel so happy and relaxed.
Alexandra Paraíso that’s partially why I go to ballet class
that's funny, it makes me feel just the opposite - reminds me of just how strict it is (which is also why I love ballet LOL)
me too!!
I started dancing ballet when I was 7 until I turned 25. I still remember the smells, the live piano, the discipline and the that feeling of freedom while waltzing on my point slippers. I'm 50 now and I still remember vividly. Great video.
I ate an entire bag of Cheddar Ruffles while watching this. Where did my life go wrong?
Hahaha (:
getnasty08 same but at the same time doing point and split stretches
Self-control when it really matters, apparently.
getnasty08 or right?
ROFLMFAO
I love that live piano still exist and is used in ballet classes. Would have enjoyed Olgas beautiful class for sure😍😇
Olga calls Fumi "Fumi-chan"!! How sweet she is!!
What does "-chan" mean?
@@onigbajamo in japanese culture (not sure about asian in general), it can be used as a term of endearment to younger children or women. -chan is usually towards women and -kun has the same affect, only with males.
she spoke in Spanish to someone too.
Olga is the BEST! Such an effective teaching style. Her passion is infectious you can see the enthusiasm in the dancers.
23:53 even at the barre marianela smiles. In love this dancer.
Thank you for pointing out her name. I've singled her out as my favorite throughout the class but didn't know her name.❤️
@@OlgaRykov You're welcome. She is an amazing dancer, one of my favorites.
She is Marianela Nuñez from Argentina!!! She is amazing
Watching these every year makes me so happy... it’s just so relaxing and enjoyable to watch
isabel cole I’m a complete non-dancer who knows little about ballet except enjoying watching it. I came across World Ballet Day a few years ago on RUclips......so interesting and informative. These have to be some of the most hard working professionals in the country. Also just love the pianist apparently just extemporising so freely with such joy. Lovely to see someone else’s world, Huge thank you s.
Totally agree! I had jazz ballet lessons long time ago.. seeing these dancers gives such a good feeling.. even today at work I'm still in advantage because I'm used these kind of teachers, polite but firm. Very good for your attitude! ;) :)
beautiful to see how everyone can maintain their style and show their personality with clothes!
I'm not a ballet dancer but I find this very relaxing and motivating to watch while stretching.
Also the instructor wearing a napapijri vest is a streetwear icon and all the dancers with their mix and match, it looks almost avant garde haha
Please bring Olga for another company class on the next world ballet day! She’s amazing
The pianist is giving a concert! The dancers are so good..all of them 😢 impressive
That blew my mind! So graceful! How do the dancers remember those complicated directions?!?! Loved the teacher and pianist! Ballet dancers are true athletes!?
Years of training. That's how they remember. Such incredible dedication and discipline.
Wombat1420 as former amateur ballet dancer we would respond to the same fast instructions. These professionals have done these or variations of these bar exercises all their lives. They already now all of them and also have a trained memory. Not particularly difficult when you train every single day.
Also they are used to memorize complicated coreo compared to this.
Love the pianist. My father was ballet accompanist for over 40 years…. Grew up in rooms like this…miss you, dad!😢😢😢
❤
I know it looks relaxing to watch but we are using every muscle in our body 24/7
my legs cramp just watching. and the instructor is so beautiful/elegant.
LOL i always imagined ballet teachers to be scary cruel sadists. She seems lovely like my grandma!!
I am sure she can be too but in daily practice with the standard steps even the devil shouldn't have too much to criticize. But you're right, in general she seems nicer than most. I quit ballett as a teen even though I loved it because my teacher just bullied all of us throughout every single lesson
almost all ballet teachers I've had were lovely. my current one does not get me as excited, but I guess I'll be fine
Don't forget, she's being filmed! And damn knows it! So can be very different otherwise!
Even the sadists still care.
Like 5 different teachers that I have taken class with have made the “I will be your torture I mean teacher today” joke
Some are. My first ballet teacher when I was 8 hit me with a tv remote and humiliated me in front of the class. I ended up getting traumatised and quitting ballet because of that.
(Which was sad because I really did like it)
The pianist was going OFF
The pianist was purely amazing....and those dancers❤️😩
I love the way she corrects and helps the individual dancers as she goes! Does nothing escape her??
This is really hard to remember all the instructions from the teacher, good jobs guys! You are all beautiful and talented.
no, its not
I love this! Most of us simply live in our bodies; these people control their bodies. I totally respect their dedication, discipline, strength and beauty.
How amazing it’d be to learn from Olga! Not only as a dancer but also as teacher to get guidance into how become so incredible good! 😍
I’m so happy to see Yuhui Choe again in this video. Such a talented and charming dancer. I hope she could be promoted to principal very soon which she’s well deserved.
Mic CC agreed!
I love her teaching style. She is very kind and passionable.
Olga reminds me of my mum's friend who is basically like a mother/grandmother figure for us. She's soft but firm with things she does, and Olga seems like that to me. Very kind.
Finally RUclips recommends me something that is good
Great pianist!
Totally agree !!!! ♡♡♡
I was rockin’ THIS warmup in my 50’s and will be rockin’ it in my 60’s. ThankYOU.🥳
Love how the men put the barres away-so gentlemen like
and it's even nicer because you realize that they probably have a silent agreement about it too, because girls might have to go put on pointe shoes!!
@@scarletbailey6086 it’s 2021 not 1940, gender roles are stupid and have always been. Just let people live their lives dude
@@nycdyke2867 Well don’t blame me for the centuries old gender role thing that the ballet world has about pointe shoes being for women.
I would still find it nice that the people who don’t put pointe shoes on volunteer to be the ones putting the barre away regardless of their gender. It’s logical for the sake of saving time and I enjoy seeing little details like that.
I love how instead of being harsh and strict, the teacher smiles and laughs to lighten it up. Makes ballet seem fun!
I love how they go through the seasons with the layers they have on. Starting with autumn and winter to start then spring and summer as the layers come off.
✨ Seasons ✨
I love how the teacher is so kind and sing-songy when giving instructions. I noticed in a different video she was kind singing along with the piano while watching the dancers!
I love this teacher. She's so serious but also funny and she really enjoyed what she did. I love what she said about plie - don't sit but come out of it. She said once you land, you go - very well said.
im a rhythmic gymnast, and i have to say that i could NEVER do ballet. It is sooo hard to remember all those combinations, then those turns are breath taking. I have to say i am completly amazed with this. bravo!
I love all the different styles in the room, I could imagine some of their personalities haha.
Congrats you all are stunning👌🏽
Waking up with this....makes my day better
I'm still sore from watching yesterday!
@@kathymyers7279 LOL😄‼️
She's a lovely teacher. Corrects but commends and smiles too. Love her
amazing teacher. Love her style of teaching and the pianist sounds like hes just on his own beat. All I ever wanted in life was to be thin like a ballet dancer.
I never imagined what a treat it would be to watch dancers train. I’m sitting on the couch doing some of these moves.
The teacher is stunning, I'm in owe of her teaching style mannerisms, very nuturing I feel like I cud get up and do something!!! And the pianist is working that piano like a G#
I love Olga's smile of approval and on point corrections as needed in a non intimidating manner. How she works alongside Rob Clark is also very fun to listen to and watch pi n the piano. Rob and Olga are "G.O.A.T.s" in their art.
Robert Clark should produce cd's for ballet classes!!! His music is absolutely mesmerizing!!!
Wonderful class and dancers...it truly brought me back to my ballet days, loved morning company class. A treat to see Marianela Nunez in class! Thanks Royal Ballet
Listening to a ballet class is always so comforting even though I haven't danced in years. And I always love that the instruction of barre exercises in an elite ballet class sounds the same as my first classes as a child.
Ballet dancers make it look so easy, but I know better. They are true badasses!! ❤
Stai respirando? Chissà. Olga is so cute, love her. She loves her job. And we all can see. Love from 🇮🇹❤️
The teacher is just adorable 😍
Olga is so knowledgeable and she is so physical in her teaching and is always correcting students to help make them better and it’s so wonderful to see
What a superb teacher, what a superb pianist, and what dedicated dancers. Spellbinding.
Loved watching them rehearse. The instructor and the piano player are amazing!
If I was a dancer I would love her as a teacher! Setting the dancers at ease.
Ah, you be young and full of vigor. Such beautiful dancers.
Olga is so delightful! "Ooh, that wasn't very popular." LOL She gives great individual feedback to each dancer.
Yuhui! Stunning, love her!
From Anything Goes to Bugs Bunny theme to Phantom etc. ( the pianist)
To Lizst &Chopin as well ;)),but actually he plays all what all the ballet pianists around the world play ;)))It doesn't make him less great, he is indeed, but all the ballet pianists have pretty much the same ballet class repertoire.
I think my favourite bit of all this, is to see the dancers mapping out the instructions in their minds. Some use their hands and feet to replay it in their heads.
There's really a regimen to the art of Ballet. What a learning experience.
Wonderful athletes! Everyone is so elegant even the pianist!
We used to say as dancers were not athletes were artists. But i know pro hockey players that take ballet for the discipline, strenthening and flexibility.
the one song from phantom of the opera was played so beautifully!!!
So enjoyable, vitamins for the soul, the pianist is phenomenal… just a bunch of talented, creative people doing what they were born to do.
I have absolutely nothing to do with dancing, I'm a singer and story writer but damn I love to watch ballet. It's fascinating to me how they manage to not show how hard it actually is although I'm aware of how tough it truly is from watching documentaries and all that good stuff. I'm amazed.
This is my expectation for morning stretches with literally a piano playing in the background.
Just ended sleeping for the next 3 hrs
God...she's such a delight. Wonderful finish, now i can go to sleep.....
Maybe it’s because i haven’t been in a master class before, but I’ve never seen so many perfect first positions. It was kind of intimidating
I love Olga's class. She she's everything, and it all just flows.
I love Olga!!!!!!
YES! I need a separate stream or youtube series even with just Olga teaching!
pa! pa - pa!
Around 1:04:20, the guy in the bandana makes me smile with those ending turns! I kept going back and reaching that part. Love it!!
L K. Ahhh.. Lukas the ballet boys
I think he's Reece Clark
It must be such a joy as a teacher to go into this class every morning and have such a wealth of talent to work with
Just ❤ that instructor & pianist!
That was very interesting. We see the end results in a flawless performance. We tend to take for granted all of the hard work that goes into it.
Respect ❤️
