i second the motion, so it says that the skate banana is for intermediate and advanced, can a beginner use this board? so what's the consequence? i guess for my ideal turns, this board is easier to use. :-)
You will be happy with that choice. So easy to turn. I have had mine for 7 years and I will never forget the first day on it...so much fun. I remember wondering why I didn't upgrade sooner!
I actually went to my closest proper ski centre and checked out some test boards. I ended up buying the Nitro Lectra. I love the style, and it's really fun because on the Lectra you can either ride aggressively, or just play around:D my sister actually has the same model, but from a different year. This video really helped today actually!
I'm 6'4 and have had the Attack Banana and the TRS, a board I would have kept if it hadn't smashed a rock in deep snow. Replaced with 16/17 T.Rice HP 164.5cm and loving it, rides clean over everything! Good choice :)
1:30 OK, I gotta stop you there. ROCKERS DO NOT FEEL LIKE A SKATEBOARD. I had a lot of trouble with this and have only recently learned I was getting incorrect information on this. I've been skateboarding for 18 years and everything I read or watched kept saying "oh yeah, rockers are like a skateboard" so I kept asking for rockers and kept wondering why I was sliding around everywhere and had no control. Then, I finally get on a camber board and fixes everything and I'm suddenly way more capable. Camber boards are the closest to feeling like being on 4 wheels because the camber points of contact are where a skateboard's wheels would be, so if you're coming from skateboarding you need to ask for a camber board for it to feel right to you.
I'd say not just if you're coming off skateboarding, but also if you are a beginner. It seems all rent boards are camber, which is for a reason I guess. It's like the default thing for snowboards.
@@HardwareAddiction Actually, every resort I've been to uses rockers as their default basic rental, you have to upgrade to a "pro" or "demo" board to get a proper camber board. Supposedly rockers are more forgiving for learning, but they're also frustrating once you try to go up the mountain as you just skid straight down with no control.
Great video. As an old timer though I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing a rocker snowboard on a table being spun around. They always look like a broken camber board to me! Anyone, once again. Great video sirs.
Hey bro, I’ve been up here in japan on the same board for the last week, a 153 (no pow nose) and it was great couldn’t fault it even in the pow. Good pick. Enjoying your videos, keep up the good work Thanks
Steve T Im thinking about getting the same board in the same size I’m 5’5 and I’m 160 pounds is the 153 board a good size for me ? Thanks for the feed back
Thank you for this video!! Obviously when I started off I had to get what I could get for the lowest price. Now I've been riding for a while and I've been saving up but there are so many options so I had no idea what board to get
I think it’s pretty easy to look up what the board is best for as it shows that on every page when buying a snowboard. The main problem is knowing what size to get as I still do not even know if my board is the exact right size as I’ve only had recommendations from my height and weight. This is what more people usually need to know and ask about
Honestly personal preference is a big factor, i’m 6’4 225 pounds and based on the sizing charts i should have a 164-ish board. I used to ride a 159 for park and jibbing but just got the t-rice pro in 164 for powder etc. try renting first and get the feel for what you like best
SnowboardProCamp I've been trying to look for boards but I'm a really tall woman and all snowboards for girls are too short for me.. does it matter if I buy a guy's snowboard instead of a girl's?
As for bibb pants. Don't wear them. I have a pair also, but from Cabela's. What you need is the Alaskan Hard gear pants. I have a pair of those pants. They have belt loops, pockets, a button closure on top, and a zipper. Now for the legs. There are side zippers if you get too warm. And snaps on the bottom by the ankle. They are nylon on the outside. And fleece lined on the inside. So they are insulated. And they will keep you warm. And a lot thinner than bibb pants. Warm pants that are insulated don't have to be thick. They can be thin too. I know. I wore them when I went snowshoeing up at MOUNT SNOW in West Dover, Vermont on Thursday December 27, 2018. Plus these pants are waterproof and snowproof. The store to buy these pants from is Duluth Trading Company, in Duluth, Minnesota. Go on their website and buy them. Because I did. Have a good day.
Hi, im 5'9 , skinny (122bs) 22 years old. i have snowboarded like 12 days in my whole life (3 different years), and i love snowboarding. So the thing is, this December im snowboarding for 13 days and i decided to buy a snowboard instead of renting one for all those days... Im not really sure if im a beginner or an intermediate but i want to be an expert. I live in Dominican Republic and going snowboard is a bit expensive but i always find a way to make a snowboard trip.So i have some questions for all the ones who know of this kind of things: What is the best way to make a great snowboard set up for me? Does the brands really matters that much? Can i buy an used snowboard or is it much better to buy a new one?
kevin I just bought the burton flight attendant for a big mountain powder board. I highly recommend trying the flight attendant amazing board has a great twin shape great float in deep powder.
Man I really thought you were going to go with jones flagship. I'm having trouble with the same decision as you but I also have the mind expander in my short list. I have an okay twin board so the decision is really build a quiver or replace my daily driver with something that can handle powder too. I just want all of them!
Cool! I bought the Nitro Lectra today, definetly one of the best boards that i have ridden. Next time i go to the slopes, i am gonna ask if they have that one, i have heard that it is good!
I got that board too. Honestly I like my ripsaw never summer better. I did the custom lib tech with t rice pro using blue girl graphics. Mine is also wide board for 13 men’s boots. Rode that until yesterday when I had stomp grip put on. Took out my ripsaw from last year and fell back in love with it. Higher speeds or powder t rice pro hp all day. Ripsaw is just so responsive though. Let me know your thoughts
Looking to start going off the small jumps and boxes in the park so I need stability for landing, but I still want a forgiving board for a catch free ride, suggestion?
I was very interested in that TRS Pro board too. Can't wait to hear some real review. Since it's a stiff board, I was curious how it maneuver in slow speed. Also how would that TRS Pro compare to Jones Ultra Mountain Twin ? Prices are about the same but different camber profile.
I need some advice on if it would be worth getting a new snowboard. I’m going on a couple snowboarding trips this year (Beaver Creek Colorado 1 week & Blue Mountain Ontario weekend) with friends. I haven’t been on a board in quite a while, But pretty confident I’ll be able to pick it up again quick enough. I was gifted a K2 Anagram Wide 159cm. After doing some research for this trip It seems like this isn’t really the right setup for my size (5’9” 150lb Size10 US Boot). Do you think I’d be fine with this? Or am I over thinking it. Will it being too wide hold be back from progressing? I’m looking at possibly picking up a Salomon Assassin 2023 156cm board for the trip and future trips.
Hey Man! Awesome video as usual! I really like the view of your shots. what settings do you use on your go pro when filming? (FPS, 4k/1080p/ wide, medium angle etc?) Keep up the good work mate!
Andreas is great! Super instructional video! I think you got an amazing board Kevin! In my quiver for that kind of board I have the War Pig by Ride, also all mountain and able to go in the trees doing some freestyle, only thing missing is some Magne Traction but it does hold edge well still
kevin, how does the TRP ride differently than the westmark rocker you have. i’ve been debating between the two. i’m on the east coast. mostly just cruise, butter, and hit a few small jumps. pretty mellow rider. which would you recommend. (mostly riding on machine groomed and ice, lucky to get any pow). thanks.
Hey, so looking for a new board myself. Want to start getting into park riding some more. Currently have an all terrain directional board. It's rather stiff and well very difficult to flex and or press. Was looking at the GNU Headspace after seeing your riding it looks like a right playful board. That being said I am a beginner to this and I understand it's more your intermediate or advanced rider board. Don't suppose you have any recommendations?
I just got an Endeavor board with the ICS channel, I need some bindings but I've been seeing around that a lot of people think that Burton bindings are bit naff and that Union is the way to go. What are the best bindings to get for a channel mounting snowboard?? Will Say a burton est binding be better than a union binding?
Nice video! Im interested on buying The ride machete 2018 that is considered all mountain-freestyle. The choose Is between a 154W and 159W. Im 70kg and 180cm and usually i dont go often in Park, i prefer jumping around the track and sometimes Also some out-track in the fresh snow.. What do you suggest me?
Imho any flat-to rocker board that's on the lower end of the length for your weight! Like this: www.romesnowboards.com/boards/lo-fi-rocker/ Worst thing you can do as a beginner is get a traditional camber that's a bit too long for you. xD Speaking from experience...
If the tail and head shape looks identical, you can tell from the binding holes, if one set is significantly closer to one end than the other, thats the tail and thats probably a directional board
Buying my daughter a new snowboard, what is the difference between men’s snowboards and women’s? Will it make a difference if I don’t get her a women’s board?
now that i have a new snowboard, what are some things i need expect when riding it in the first month? (do i have to wax it or do i need to break it in a bit etc?)
Hi, I am a bit confused. I want to buy a new snowboard. I am a beginner I guess. This will be my second season snowboarding. My first board was given to me so it wasn't according to my specifics. I need something easier for me to use. I think my previous board was too long. I'm starting to learn to carve so I want something to help me with that. Which board should I get and what length? I am 1.78cm tall.
I'm 6'2, 250lbs, size 14 boots, avg intermediate rider, mostly resort snowboarding, but little of everything. Looking at the 2018 Lib Tech T. Rice Pro 165.4w, Lib tech Skunk Ape 165w, or 2018 GNU Riders Choice 166w? Or should I go smaller SA-161w, RC-162w, TRP-161w?
What's more geared towards beginner levels for easy turning etc? I bought a Firefly furious board but it's super stiff. I wish I started watching your videos before I bought a board :(
You can check almost any site like EVO where they sell boards & have reviews. I've ridden one for 7 years or so riding Arbors, Burtons, Gnus, and LibTech. Rode this board for literally 200'. It was amazing. Immediately, bought one that afternoon, leaving my Burton X behind. You talk to anyone on the slopes riding one and they say the same things---stable, really easy to turn, holds an edge in all kinds of conditions. Makes you a better rider immediately. Best of luck.
what size would you recommend on the new 2020 orca? I am 5'9" about 180. i like to ski wide open areas and steep areas. don't get to crazy on speed. i was looking at the 156 but also the 153. not sure which would be best.

Been a goal of mine for five years to get a T Rice Pro and last year I finally picked one up. Such a fantastic board! Totally worth the wait
Moses of snowboards
you should do this more often and go through other brands full line of boards!
Cooper Silva Great idea!
...and maybe include some boards for women next time? ;)

Pro tip if you only ride once a year on spring break and pound back beers on the lift buy a skate banana
And of you're smart buy any other board.
blake m rent
whats wrong with the skate banana? it won a bunch of awards when it came out, and literally pioneered rocker boards and hybrids.
xisorez overpriced, I've rode a few and they don't come close to my ultra fear
xisorez Rocker boards are teach compares to camber for carving. It is way too soft to be confident on anything steeper than a blue.
I'm 6'4 and have had the Attack Banana and the TRS, a board I would have kept if it hadn't smashed a rock in deep snow. Replaced with 16/17 T.Rice HP 164.5cm and loving it, rides clean over everything! Good choice :)

Hey, thanks! I film at 1080 p and 60fps.
Andreas is great! Super instructional video! I think you got an amazing board Kevin! In my quiver for that kind of board I have the War Pig by Ride, also all mountain and able to go in the trees doing some freestyle, only thing missing is some Magne Traction but it does hold edge well still

Andreas is the man!
can you make a review about the nitro boards? i see the Team (gullwing?) exposure in the backround. Thx

Hey Kevin I purchased a snowboard that is (157) and I'm 5 foot 7. Am l to short to ride a board this large. Keep making awesome vids man🏂
ZCONNOR53 Depends on your weight and riding style...
Im 5.7 and use 157 so shouldn't be a problem
Can you explain how I can tell if my board is directional
Can you look it up online?
check the manufacturers website. also, the tail will be shorter than the nose and the shape of both might be different
If the tail and head shape looks identical, you can tell from the binding holes, if one set is significantly closer to one end than the other, thats the tail and thats probably a directional board
😁👍 thx!
Placement of holes for bindings, length of tail being shorter than the nose, and the nose could also be wider than the tail :)

Bought the Burton Custom 2017 yesterday. Opinions?
What's more geared towards beginner levels for easy turning etc? I bought a Firefly furious board but it's super stiff. I wish I started watching your videos before I bought a board :(
Skate Banana. Magna traction is the real deal.
Don Mueller thank you. Any links?
You can check almost any site like EVO where they sell boards & have reviews. I've ridden one for 7 years or so riding Arbors, Burtons, Gnus, and LibTech. Rode this board for literally 200'. It was amazing. Immediately, bought one that afternoon, leaving my Burton X behind. You talk to anyone on the slopes riding one and they say the same things---stable, really easy to turn, holds an edge in all kinds of conditions. Makes you a better rider immediately. Best of luck.
Thanks man. Much appreciated!
Glad to help. LMK if you ride one. Would love to hear your experience.
what size would you recommend on the new 2020 orca? I am 5'9" about 180. i like to ski wide open areas and steep areas. don't get to crazy on speed. i was looking at the 156 but also the 153. not sure which would be best.
Love ur vids would mean the world if you could reply to my question
What do you think about nitro snowboards
this guy knows his shit I love it
GNU HeadSpace and K2 87 for me this year
Why should you choose anything other than a Mervin manufacturing board?
