OK buddy I have my Customer has a 1996 bluebird bus with a 5.9 Cummings he keeps throwing a low, coolant, warning, light and it looks like the temperature fluctuates between maybe 150 to 180 so what is the proper operating temperature for this engine? it’s mechanical so I can’t plug in there and get any codes

The reservoir tank could also need to be replaced, may not just be sensor.

Hey there, it's a panasonic tough book with cummins insite diag software installed.
You can use any laptop to install the software. A bit pricey but it's exactly what the dealerships use, so it's the best.

changed the sensor but the code still comes up. but it only comes up when the temp reaches over 185 degrees. after it cools, the code falls off. any clue?

Check the pin tension on the sensor. Also at the ecm connector. Then do a pin to pin resistance test and check for fluctuations while wiggling harness. If all tests good, your new sensor is probably bad or you have an ECM failing which I would try to find a test ecm
