Dear Dorcei, I’m one of your Korean fan and really feel sorry for that your got those disrespectful replies from some Korean guys and ashamed as Korean. I agreed on that those wrong stereo type for black people comes from lack of knowledge of other cultures and experiences. I should admit that I also even sometimes have any kinds of stereo type for any other ethnic groups since I have no idea about them. But it is definitely wrong and we all need to expand our understanding of other cultures even by reaading or watching youtubes if have no chance to meet themmm in person. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I always cheer for you and love watching your video, even though I rarely enjoy makeup myself. Please keep shareing the funnest contents as you do, Thanks !
Something I hate about racist people from any culture: They will get mad at you for using something that originated from their culture, yet they don’t realise that a lot of stuff they use is from other races’ cultures.
Camille Dorvilier-Schell : example- Cornrows (a braiding style). In black culture, these braids are seen as a neat style to protect our fragile, tight coils from breakage. Others seem to see it as dirty or ghetto. When Kylie Jenner did it, it was publicized everywhere as “Boxer Braids”. When Asian or Hispanic (non-black) women do it, it is seen as edgy, cool, sometimes sexy. Now I LOVE cornrows on everybody 😍 but to not give credit to the culture that influenced the style is sad and bewildering. You can look up Elvis Presley and see the same thing. There are other examples of this in history. Sorry for the essay. Hope this helped!
Now that I think about it.... long, graphic, colorful nails and wigs is a new trend everywhere now for people of all colors. However, the most classic “ghetto” look worn almost only by black women back in the day. 🤔😂it was everywhere when I was a kid (I’m 31).
It’s even harder when you’re not the stereotype of a “typical black girl” .. people always think you’re trying to “be white” or in my case “act korean”. I’ve always been interested in different cultures and I’m interested in korean culture but every time I say that I’m flooded with all kinds of crazy things. Like tbh I just want to be black and NOT be criticized and or hated for it so I can explore and live life without like losing my sanity
Also, when white people take interest in other cultures, POC get so happy so why can't you do what some white people do and get the same positive response they do?
Culture and behaviour should not be linked to skin colour. It breaks my heart to see black people call each other “raccoon” and “oreo”. Act the way you want girl, you do you ❤️
I felt this comment SO MUCH omg like it happens all the damn time!!!! It’s so frustrating when I’m not interesting in things that “typical black people” are interested people proceed to clown me but like what’s actually wrong with wanting to have an interest in other cultures 😐😔
As a korean male, With a black girlfriend can say these things are totally valid. The country is still growing and many people believe that these problems don’t exist until it affects them. I was really shocked when we ran into these problems.
@@banannalaffytaffy245 Trueee, except for the slang. The slang makes us seem less articulate, we have to stop with the "ain't"s and "aks" and speak English correctly. Unless it's a joke, otherwise we have to articulate ourselves better in order prove that not all of us are ghetto...
toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot well that’s true with any race. I live in Alabama and I can tell you the white people here aren’t too articulate either haha. Everyone should have a ‘customer service’ voice for business and a best friend named Keisha voice for friends and family lol. I was mainly referring to how non black ppl say “tea, slay, wig, bye Felicia, issa bop, and boo boo the fool.” And how all those words came from black culture.
The irony...Touching is not okay, but touching us is? That's alright, when I go for study abroad, if anyone tries to touch my hair, I'll just start stroking their's.
I'm a South African and I hate how the media portrays Africa as this tragic place. There is more to Africa then violence and poverty. Because you find that all around the world. Thanks for so many likes :) and also people's responses.
My Dad is from Ghana. We live in Michigan. We went down to Detroit to film burned out and abandon homes. We took it back to Ghana to show family. They didn't believe American could have this.
pinga Heart The Problem with detroit is high taxes and only a renter base. The biggest issue is that our government doesn’t see keeping young families as a priority so people are leaving the state and there won’t be enough you young people. Even where I live in Oakland county we got a huge influx of Detroiters moving to the suburbs for better schools. But we lose population and schools are closing. While in other states like Atlanta Georgia they’re under 40 population is growing. I got a degree in Film and can’t use it in Michigan because our past governor decided to get rid of it. Michigan can’t be kept afloat by the automotive industry in the future we need to diversify if we are going to survive.
Hey guys I am Nigerian when I was a kid my mother had a friend who’s husband is white and and I spent sometime with them during the summer and my first and last stay was horrible the man told his kids not to sleep on the same bed with me and he also told them in private not to touch me. It was devastating I felt so self conscious I wanted to bleach my skin I was so depressed after that stay I am just so tired of all this racism and it is so unfair not only young children but to adults to, I just want it to stop. Please treat people with kindness ,spread love and positivity
@@christabelabasa7033 I'm so sorry something like that happened to you. No one deserves that treatment. He was wrong to think he and his kids are better than you are. But sadly the world is still filled with racism.
I came across a video of black girl talking about why she left korea, A man spat at her while she was outisde and people avoiding to sit next to her on the train and buses and some guy randomly started yelling at her on the train, people don't even help you bc its everyone for themselves that's just fucking cruel. Not once have came across a white vlogger facing this type of issues.
Black To Grace okay hello I live in Korea I’ve been there for six months. I’m on the darker side and at times I get stares and comments. But it could also be that I didn’t live on the side of town she did. But I never really experienced blatant racism. I even had a women stop me and tell me she jealous of how pretty my skin is and had a girl tell me and my fiend who is also black. How pretty we are. So I think it just depends honestly.
I SAW THAT VIDEO! I was absolutely livid just hearing her recall that horrific event. She was just minding her business, shopping, and for that to happen to her. The stares and racist comments are one thing, but SPITTING? Got me fucked up. I would've gotten deported or jailed that day for beating some dusty, musty, crusty ass!
Koreans strive to make their complexion white. White is desired; desirable so of course you wouldn't see it. Does such behavior towards white people in Korea exist? History and media all have a part in this.
Gurl u just read my mind about hello counselor I stopped watching that last year, after a mom was laughing off her son being suicidal, last I heard a dad was sexually abusing his son and the hosts and audience thought it was 'normal'. They need real psychiatrists and police officers on that show. I can't say I didn't have good laughs or enjoyed it but the times I raised my eyebrows outweighs the good
@*s p i c y* that's is also true tbh but Korea is the number 1 I think for suicide in the world so (I think not too sure) I believe they should start taking mental health and suicide srsly seriously. Parents shouldn't wait till their kids die to take the kids words seriously or to see a doctor cuz then I'll be too late.
@*s p i c y* gurl you from bout hay? Ayyeeee. Yeah I feel you fam. I believe it's mostly because west Indian parents believe that their kids are just pushing attitude or being rude. They don't think about what problems their kids face to cause them to think like that so the kids don't know what to do and I'm speaking from experience of having a parent who says she doesn't care if I'm feeling suicidal so I understand your stand point. And it's not even Caribbean parent s this is a global issue and it saddens me to see that no one is serious about it neither on social media nor in real life.
@*s p i c y* girl I see you, and I get you, most parents forget that even though they are working to provide financial support and other things they forget to create an emotional connection to their kids. So even tho you (the child) may be grateful, you still would like it if they tried to understand you and get to know you and not take your mental state for a joke. They forget that having basic communication with their kids can solve any problem or issue that may be bothering you. Even sometimes a simple' how are you feeling?' might do. But I guess with most parents they are so busy providing material things that they forget that their kids are human and those things (even tho you're grateful for them ) might not really matter as all they want is to talk or spend some quality time with their parents you know ? Without having the "I already have my own problems figure it out speech" that's why many kids grow up either resenting their parents or not feeling close to them because their parents shut them out.
@*s p i c y* I think we must all try to sign up for non violent communication classes and I don't know if there's a parenting hand book but I guess they should make parent child communication classes a thing cuz the kids and the parents suffer.
@*s p i c y* there is no actual line cuz you don't want them so close that they're too overprotective but you want they're close enough to notice change in your behavior and social interactions with others or just close enough like in a 'I know I've been busy but just know I'm here for you' kind of way
I love how this video is her going off, but like every 30 seconds it's "I'm gonna use this morphe spray, it's my favorite ^^" and then back into popping off
@@mochimochi2881 I grew up in the Bahamas which is a dominantly black nation. However, as I got older and got exposed to it through the web, news channels and by travelling a lot. I started to realize that racism is a thing.
I'm a young child I see how the world is messed up and i also wish that someone would make a change ,because i'm sure that racism is not the way.I'm a 11 year old nigerian girl and because of my race some people treat me like crap. I always say to myself think positively not negatively
With the whole black nuna black hyung thing I personally find it more offensive that Koreans will literally break the rules of their own culture to project/reinforce stereotypes onto black people...
Chiyoctopus Oh, sorry and thank You! Edit: thank You for correcting Me because i’m learning Korean myself (No one can point out my mistakes) and never saw the romanisation/zation of „noona”, „nuna”! Thank You very much!
As a Korean living in Korea I'm very embarrassed to see that people have treated you in such rude ways (the hate comment culture in Korea is deadly....😣) Honestly I feel that there is a big majority of korean people who know to be respectful, and it's sad that some koreans are rude enough to make the rest of koreans to be generalized as racist "koreans" and "asians"...I hope now that korea is becoming more globalized people will be more open to meeting people of various cultures and learning that we shouldn't be stereotyping each other even if we feel that we're complimenting them.
Thank you! I noticed " The hate comment culture" OMG! some people should expend their time in putting themselves together instead of attacking others per se. How is to be a miserable person 24/7?
@Regina George It's outrageous. Literally go to the knetz side of twt or RUclips (the kpop side is a great place to see it) and see what they say about people they hate or groups they hate. They started the whole "if (x person who died or was hurt or something similarly awful) stanned (x group or idol or person) then that bad thing wouldn't have happened". It's really hateful. They're also kings of ruining people's lives and careers (and the lives of their families) when some person in the media does something they don't like or they consider bad
I’m black and Asian but my mom made us move to the USA because my friends started to make fun of me and constantly touching me and then it got worse so now my first language in English now.
The point is, Asian can be extremely racist without realizing it. My mother is a flight attendant, meet a lot of people, travel to plenty places, but still teach me to stay away from black tourists because they might kill or kidnap me. However, it's fine for me to take pictures with pretty white ladies. When i confronted her about that, we had a fight and she keeps saying that it's for my safety, not racist. My mom is not the only, there's like a whole generation thinking the same, they just don't speak it out loud. They are racist in silence.
my sister is mostly like this. my family is Mexican and she is super fucking racist. I confront her about her racism and she says "I'm just joking" when it clearly looked like she wasnt joking. she generalizes EVERY race, not just certain ones, just because she thinks she knows more. I went to my black friends birthday party once and she assumed i went to a white friends birthday party and she was still fucking racist about it. "Did you guys celebrate her dogs birthday? you know how white people are." "she is black." "oh my fucking god, veronica! why you would you go? you know that they're dangerous! you're not allowed to go to another black person's party again!" I confronted her about it and she said she was fucking joking. THAT didnt sound like a joke to me, she was SERIOUS. people hide their racism when they get confronted and act the victim.
I'll never know the struggle that black people go through, but what I've generally found to be true is that everyone wants to be black but doesnt want to go through their struggles. They become afraid of them through ignorant means and it leads to discrimination and their deaths
@Black To Grace people copy AAs to a T. They like the music, fashion, hairstyles, slang, bodies, nails etc etc. Literally everything 💀 theyre even copying wigs now 😂😂😂😂
This is one of the reasons why I can’t get down with k pop. The dances and choreography they do is heavily influenced by hip hop dance, which is rooted deeply in black culture. They take it and use it and don’t want to acknowledge the origins, and then the people who consume it have the nerve to be racist towards the people that the style is influenced from lol it’s ridiculous.
It’s funny cause if black people were to strip away all their influences on kpop they’d probably only have 2 artists. PERIOD. Many people wants to act black but don’t like black people, no logic in that🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
That is so true. There is a heavy amount of black influence in the Kpop industry it is UNCANNY. Yet they are the same ones to call us scary and racist. I’m so tired of it.
@@makaylahatesyou6703 thats why its best to start calling these fools out. Strip their power over BLACK culture away. How black folks allow others to use and abuse their culture like this is beyond me
Its like the song blck woman. Its a good song and so honest. The sad truth of being black and what people think and want from us like Im not white, asian, spanish etc. So get off Im black and I love it and will not change me my background for nuN.
Uastupidhoe never claimed ALL of them, but ALOT of are them racist towards black people. Even a Korean person FROM korea have told me this. if you don’t like it, change it. Don’t get mad that we’re just speaking our experiences.
Uastupidhoe i don’t like how you had to go and point fingers at another race to make it seem like the racism black people face in korea and with asians in general is justified. this is about racism in korea. we know all races can be racist but that’s not what this video is about. don’t go on a tangent being like “well black people are racist to us so” as if that changes anything. there’s also not an anti asian thing going on in the black community like there is in the asian community towards black people. there’s definitely more hate towards us than we have towards you.
I literally thought I was the only one who drifted away from kpop and Kdrama mainly because of the amount of ignorance I started noticing with how little respect or recognition they give black people and black culture. It used to be my hope to travel to Korea and learn more about the culture, I used to love kpop and Kdrama and Korean history (once in a while if I have time) but honestly I grew tired of showing so much interest and favoritism for a culture or people who do not show appreciation for my own culture. After learning the truth I would much rather stick to my own and appreciate my own roots. Well said
@Uastupidhoe honestly I didn't want to make this an argument but clearly you didn't get my point. I didn't say that the whole culture was racist nor was I talking about USA (heck USA is racist af) but think about the fact that us as black people have to walk around feeling like we don't belong mainly because we don't fit in the bubble of "white washing" because we're black. This whole video touches base on discrimination against blacks and Korean culture and how we've been treated to this day unfortunately. I didn't want to be blindsided for the intrested I had in the culture while ignoring things I see in the media or variety TV'S mocking my race and still pretent that's ok. The truth hurts but that's the reality we need to face instead of being blinded with bias. Everything is ok until you're a fan while black. Like I said I honestly I wouldn't show interest for something that does not show respect or appreciation for my own. Same goes for treat others how you'd like to be treated and that's my moto.
@Uastupidhoe she literally just said she doesn't listen to kpop anymore because they use black culture often and refuse to respect it. Im confused as how thats racist?
@Uastupidhoe i dont think anyone is attacking the whole of Korea🤣 they're simply speaking about their personal experiences. Like you've been doing commenting on everyone's thread about how you've faced racism from white people. What if a white person started doing what you're doing now telling you to shut up and stop complaining because "not all *insert race* are racist" and because they've had it worse? Thats exactly what you've been doing. Learn to put yourself in others shoes. So only you can talk about being mistread then?? Wow. And yes we are all aware that Asians face racsim on a regular basis and this isnt fair, i dont recall anyone in the comments or Miss Darcy saying other wise. But if you notice, Darcy is black so shes only speaking of her experience as a black person and the experiences of other black people. Some people dont want to listen to other people's stories to try and understand. They only listen to find places where they can make the situation about them. They just want to dispute whats being and said and only talk about themselves and honestly thats why nothing ever changes. People choose to not listen. Theres been a lot of Korean people who have commented on this video saying they arent racist and would never treat someone that way, and those are the type of people I'd love to go to Korea to meet. Not someone who doesn't see anything wrong with what others deals with. Or trys their best to demean and belittle someone elses experience.
Uastupidhoe its the media that portrays that, of course all people of different races aren’t racist. Heck, even some people are racist towards their own race. We’ve all been a victim in life, we can’t complain about it and not do anything, voice your voice and stop the media from portraying your country as racist, if that’s what you believe. Every country has its ups and downs. Don’t let the ignorant ones of your country make you seem as their kind.
@Uastupidhoe I get where you're coming from, but as a whole looking at everyside is complex. She's not saying she hated koreans, but when you see things in the media that shows things like this happening like this it's hard. Someone drifting away from something doesn't mean they're racist. Racism isn't one country , it isn't one culture, nor one race. Racism is everywhere. The ignorant though are almost always the ones that are payed attention and showed though.
The irony of this is in their MMO online games. I used to play Aion, a Korean game. The Korean side love to play mini characters with large eyes, small "everything", and very light skin. When I made my character, it had dark brown skin with red eyes. I got a lot of racist comments about my character, nobody would invite me to anything, but I still kicked their butts in PvP. In the American side, no one cares what I look like, as long as I played the game right.
I'm so glad you think that way because I can't count the number of times I've been touched without consent. Thank you for understanding personal space.
@@peytondwyer wtf some people is just so ignorant, where I live in we are all kind of friendly so you could just start talking to the person next to you and hold a conversation for an hour but touching them without even ASKING is just disrespectful.
Went to Korea for school break. Stayed for a week. I was so excited but I was treated so badly ....I actually cried. Taxis driving off and stopping for white/ other Asian people. People ignoring me asking questions in stores...even got kicked out. Not to mention people looking at me crazy. All the prostitutes where African and I just felt ashamed and...bad. I hated every second of it....just ugh
Wow! How sick. Now about the African prostitutes did you see white Russian prostitutes too, or were they mostly all African? That would explain why I am seeing a lot of disrespect towards black women. Because you have a lot of African prostitutes all around the world. In Thailand, In Italy, In France. It seems like the men look at black women as sexual slaves. Even though you got prostitutes of all kinds of women, but the men are literally are pimping a lot of African women. It's funny that they are doing that to black women, but won't allow them in the clubs in which practically own by satanic pimps🤔. Something is going on around here.
I really hope japan isn’t like this 😭😭 because I really want to go there as well as I did Korea, but after looking at all these comments it’s really upsetting for people to sit there and overlook how African Americans are treating I’m not ever going to be ashamed of who I am or my skin color but one thing I am ashamed of is society itself 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
@@princessnashi1570 I think Japan is more accepting of other races. I went to Japan with a group, some of the girls were dark skinned Mexicans (obviously NOT the same as blacks I understand that) and they didn't experience any sort of discrimination or colorism for their darker skin. We had a great time together. We were in a smaller city too, away from a Tokyo, hardly any foreigners. I think you'd have a great time in Japan 👍 but do except a lot of questions and maybe touching? Out of general curiousity though. I have very thick curly hair and let me tell you lots of girls asked to touch my hair.
I was watching this vid about a white kid who couldnt be friends w/ his friend anymore. He was asked why. he said he didn't like black people. Then was asked why he didnt like black people, he LITERALLY couldn't even give an answer & kept looking at his parents. You can tell he was trying to think of the hate he was taught to please his parent's. U can tell he genuinely didnt mean it & missed his black friend. Shit was good prior to being taught hate from his own family. Racism is a sick thing, Its mindblowing to me. Out of all the things people could be a thief, killer, rapist, liar apart of ISIS you dont like someone just b/c theyre black....thats deep..
They LOVE rap music. They LOVE our style. they want to have "swag" but yet wanna be racist. they love to indulge in black culture but yet never want to sing our blues.
Sanya Katariya ummmm.... there is such thing as black culture.... culture is the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group. So therefore black culture is a culture
It’s hard for coloured people, and some will say racism doesn’t exist anymore but they are WRONG. It took me a while to start a channel because things like my race and religion, getting hate for those things etc were stopping me. But seeing black and Muslim RUclipsrs has really given me hope that I can do it too. And although I’ve only just started, I want to prove to myself that nothing should and can ever stop me from doing the things I love 💖
Sarah Abdulaleem you are very right! But the important thing is I started my channel for myself, to build confidence in myself, strengthen my imaan whilst hopefully helping others 🙏🏾
Hiiii! I love this video, but it is quite a serious topic and you handle these problems really well. And K-beauty products don’t say it’s for Asian people
I feel like in asian culture in general a lot of this steps from colorism. I was raised in New Zealand so I never even differentiated my skin color from any of my other friends. Fast forward to me living with Indian people raised in india and my skin tone always comes up in conversation like comparing my lighter skin tone with theirs. I feel like this way of thinking is really prevalent all over Asia.
yeah i live in new zealnd and for most of my life their has only been about ten-five black kids in my school included me. but i have never had any racist comments.
I'm Indian too... Indian culture isn't homogenous like most asian countries. We really have no excuse for colourism or racism. But like Darcie said, it is taught in the homes. An aunt warned me never to date a brown Indian for instance. And similarly I've faced racism too. It's just a very human experience for conservative cultures, though I don't agree with it one bit.
im so heartbroken. as someone who was watching k-drama from the womb i grew up with a genuine love for korean culture, however as i grew i realized that the love i had wasnt enough to justify what i may go through if i went there (not that i ever had a chance). But being black is one of the greatest blessing God has ever bestowed upon me and when i realized that i decided that i would love them still. i still have hope and faith that they, especially the youth, would be more open minded. i know im rambling but seeing the video and all the comments made me eager to share...oh dear im about to cry- I Purple You!
Black noona/hyung deadass reminds me of when white people use to call all older black men/women "Auntie/Uncle". For anyone who doesn't know, it's not respectful at all.
Why is it disrespectful? The auntie/uncle part. I'm not gonna defend that because I don't know about that part of american history but I will defend the noona/hyung part because we too use honorifics. Or is it the addition of the word 'black' that you find it disrespectful?

So again, sorry some people are like that... Keep doing your thing. 💕
As a person who born korean, I think korean culture is very racist because of the history. And not only the racism. sexist, disability discrimination, political issue, and etc. are all very serious. But I think those problems are slowly getting better. Compare to my childhood and now, korea changed much.
sibin G i think back in the past people with a lighter skin were like the ,,rich people “ and those who had a dark skin were those who worked on the farm etc.
Me2. But I’m Chinese. I saw a comment saying that she wished she was still a child and not know that racism existed. Well I feel like most Chinese people are like that because we grew up in a homogenous environment and there were other serious political and whatever issues that no one really paid attention to racism. People have bad stereotypes and thoughts of others but they don’t realize it and think that it’s an issue.

I’m blasian and white, and I grew up with tons of cultures myself. My dad was of black, Korean, and Japanese decent, my mom is white and my stepdad is Guyanese. The first time I came face to face with my pure Korean cousins they gave me weird looks, called me names. It was...heartbreaking to say the least. But I met my Japanese cousins they were so open-minded and accepting. Because of that I guess I’m more biased to be more loving toward Japan than Korea even though it was an isolated incident.
abbijinn because Japan is more open to other cultures then Korea Japan has more diversity if you think about it. In Japan you’ll even find J-POP groups with mixed race singers etc.

This is a fantastic video and thank you so much for being candid with your feelings. One point that I feel you may have missed, that I witnessed as a fan of several Black K-Beauty gurus, is the fact that a lot of people come for you because you are a darker skinned Black woman. Rarely do I ever see Koreans going after Megan Bowen, or any of the other lighter skinned Black women that use K-Beauty products on RUclips.
After watching theses "what korean think of black people" videos for 8 years and living in Korea for 1 year, I started to think that we don't need validation for anyone because the hate will Never Stop.
@Uastupidhoe Never said koreans are all like this, I've been there 1 year and it was the best year of my life I'm going again for 2 years this time, what I meant is there's always be some racists people and it's pointless to worry
@AMIYA yes I know that not all of them are like this, but I doesnt mean that everybody will be sweet and gentle to you when you go to korea, there's some racists people in Korea like anywhere else and some people have this unfortunate experience some don't, it also depends on what you see as racist too : for exemple there's always koreans staring at you everywhere you go, by curiosity or because they are surprised or lowkey scared and some black people think it as normal some people as racist. All this to say it's pointless to try to check what koreans think about black people, it's better to go there and just flex if you ever meet bad people ☺
@Uastupidhoe I'm from France btw not all black people going to Korea come from USA, so non-american black people could have a different view on what's racist than you

I basically watched this video because i’m Blasian/ Korean and black. I live in America though. I was planning on going to Busan Korea with my Korean grandparents.. But I changed my mind... Because sis don’t have time for the racist bs.
Usernames Are Hard:/ I agree but. NO MY GRANDPARENTS HATE KOREA THEY OWN DAMN SELF! But i’ll go for my birthday and if somebody say anything about me being black or being Mixed with black.. Then i mean 👊🏼
@Mystic Clover you high key tripping. The number one sound logical thing you NEVER DO is go to someones HOME who DONT FUCK WITH YOU. You are setting yourself up for disaster and possible harm. That's not about fear or anything. It is about common sense but I literally forget that common sense isn't so common anymore.
I’m part American, living in America, and honestly, I hate almost everything about this country. Now it’s hard to find people who will actually accept you, and Trump just had to be our president. But, I don’t blame trump as much as I blame the people. It was the people who voted him in, and my mom says things that I won’t remember fully, but this is exactly what she means, “ They will never learn the pain if they don’t experience the pain”
I'm Asian too but not Korean or Chinese or Japanese, I'm Iban, if u know Hendry Golding I have the same ethnicity as him. I realized that everyone is different, but the differences between us are what makes us beautiful as a human being. We just need to accept everyone, no more gap!! No more rasism!! Amen
Well even though I'm from korea i do understand and totally agree with you. I don't want to defend korean's behavior that you described in the video. It's so wrong and really makes me sick. I think the ones who wrote those comments are very conservative and don't want to hear other people criticizing korea. A lot of older generations and even some younger generations think korea is THE BEST and don't want to admit there are flaws. But please understand that there are a lot of fans and support for you from korea including me. Keep making these amazing videos and show them they're wrong! And again as a korean I'm really sorry for what you have experienced.
I’m black I like anime and I’m still quite young and being black and seeing the way people categorize us as being aggressive killers because of American tv which sickens my as you can tell by my profile that I like anime and the culture of Asia but seeing this really changes my mind about the world I remember being blissfully ignorant to the world and seeing things like this and brushing it off I just hate the way people see us as some special aggressive creature
Gurllllll, you’ve just opened my eyes! I wanted to go to Korea for my honeymoon..... because I love experiencing new foods and ways of life, but no I can’t do that racism, I’d rather go to Canada now or the islands. Not saying all Koreans are racist, just don’t want to deal with that on my happy honeymoon time👌🏽
It weirds me out to think how I'd be treated as a POC in Korea. I don't even think they know where the Caribbean is 😑 While I understand the lack of exposure, I can't understand the ignorance. The worlds embraced so much about their culture... they oughta follow suit.
@Alejandra E This reply has me cackling 😂 The net isn't a cure all but you aren't wrong! It's deff a tool that can build at least a foundation for understanding... for ppl who WANT to that is.
My family on my mother's side are from the Caribbean. When I explained that to a Korean friend he thought I was talking about the water park in Yongin >.> Yes.. my family are from a water park in South Korea LOL
When I was in Singapore with my family, in the airport some old ladies skipped past five people to take a closer look at us. Especially at my baby brother. They tried to touch his curly hair and they kept touching me and my sister's braids. They asked if we were born with braids already made on our heads.
XD even the PRE SCHOOLERS in my school know I wasn’t born with braids on my head, and they barely know English properly. And some grown ladies who have lived very long, ask that question.
I have been to Singapore but I really loved the people, they cud come to make conversation with me and asked me if we had snakes, lions, elephants moving everywhere. Coz for them they have one artificial place where govt planted some plants and it's where they all go to relate to nature
I'm white ...and i was "dating" a korean guy online for over 2 years and his friends was making fun that he is "riding a white horse", his mom liked me and he asked me if i want to every mary him and then he told me it was just a joke ...2days after we broke up for good he admited that he engaged to some british girl and then I found out he was collecting white woman just as if they where pokemons and when I was harmed and needed emotional support he just left and blamed me for everything
He's a dumb ass. You honestly deserve better.❤Karma gon find it's way around. Just wait. And hey just be happy you dont have to endure being with an idiot anymore. Luv ya💜💜

9:00 I’ve learned to do this. People stress themselves out to much worrying about these people who don’t like them. It really saves your energy and peace of mind.
Im just baffled how korean are still so close minded abt things when lots of foreigners are starting to flood korea they should’ve adapt to it. In indonesia the number of foreigners are way lower than in korea but we here aren’t as close minded as korean (like staring, touching, fetishizing, or discriminating) it’s all about korean’s mind set
its just because Indonesian are very respectful of personal boundaries. Though we all know, that behind closed doors, most "older" Indonesian are still pretty racist even to other Indo-ethnics.
I feel offended coz I'm black and they called darcei the n word. I get it if a Korean person doesn't like me. But I'd be offended if they don't like me coz I'm black
That is just cruel. I was thinking of moving to Korea or Japan when I get older (as only being 11) but, I don’t think I will if this racism doesn’t stop, or at least goes down A LOT.
as an asian, i am so sick of how conservative the way asian people thinking about something. yepp, racism is still there HUNNEY! i hate that! i am just gonna be honest here, most asian people are like pretty much white mindset kind of stuff and when it comes to dark or black skin or even everything related to black hunney, even asian people itself who have pretty dark skin than the average, they'll definately get bullied in the society or even experienced that shit, and i also had a lot of experienced where my asian friends were like, can we just go to the back country and we're probably be the most beautiful person ever in there or can we just make their skin lighter and things, bish i am packed. Tbh i always been orally fighting with em about how racist they are tho. And ya know, they're pretty much into " black culture " even it's music, style and everything but... they're always tryina remove the blackness from it which is ridiculous. No matter what those stupid shit people talk and comments about you, just be yourself gurl. Love you Darcei❤️
I love how you stated your opinion. Im black and mexican ..and i grew up with so many different people. And i appreciate that you are open minded and try to enfore that to closed minded people.💙
@Uastupidhoe my apology is not because we all are, but that my country is solidly unprepared for many other people & I never thought of doing something to change it. I am not a racist either. Korea needs more education on this topic, and thats why I feel sorry. We are in behind and we need change...
YEssss I am Korean and Hello Counselor was my favorite show but I can't help to always get angry that the mcs are not giving the right solution! Whenever there's a serious issue I always felt we need a mental counselor or an actual doctor there to assist... And I agree Koreans are ..I can't say all are racists but I saw them sometimes being racist.. even my parents are partly racists and I can't deal with them. Koreans are so so USA friendly for a long time since the Korean War and I think the Koreans took the eye of white man living in America. I can even see it when it comes to PC, I don't think they understand that they are in the category of PC. They don't think they are the minority in this society and pretends that they don't what a minority feels like. And I am so sorry for those racist Korean haters...karma is going to eat them. but one thing I want to say is it's easy to look like an animal in the zoo when I am outside of East Asian countries too. I think it is just a very common thing if you are in another country that there's no one looks like yourself, they see you like an animal in the zoo. Believe me, I lived in another country outside of Korea when I was young and I was not having a good time for many years.
Guys please, Americans are not South Africans we are two completely different people. Take what Americans say about us with the a grain of salt. Proudly South African 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Darcei, I'm Korean and I recently got to know you. I saw your latest videos and they were very entertaining. I love them🥰 Also I'm really sorry to hear that Koreans were acting racists towards you. Please don't care about them, stay strong, cause they're so ignorant. Also I feel very ashamed as a Korean, too. It's really wrong that they say words like that just because of your race. I feel good when you say you love Korean culture❣️ I love ur vids (including Korean makeup and styles)and so do other people so keep on going😉😉 Thx for reading my awkward English comment too
When you spoke of why homogeneous societies feel the need to "take a picture" of black women you reminded me of the exploitation of Sara Baartman 200 years ago in Europe.
Im mixed half white german half black America. And I have noticed that asians sometimes dont realize they aint white. Maybe because I grew up in the south so I know asians including hispancs where once considered white therfore they had always benefited from white privilege . And also the white worship among asians, and thinking if they date or marry white or half a white person in their company they somehow leveled up in humanity. But in 2019, you gotta realize you aint white, and the white person that hates blacks is gonna hate you too..cause you aint white. Its like some asians all got a KKK member mentality , and some asians join the KKK ..which makes you scratch your head...like whhhaaat
@Uastupidhoe she clearly stated that "some" of the asians. Yes racism is everywhere but why are you under all the comments twisting what people say . Sure we are aware you have gone through racist stuff but why find excuses to generalize all black people😩 we just want peace and so do you you are as angry as much as they are we already have a lot of hate in this world don't make that grow any further
@@resistlessflow I don't agree with everything she said but some Asians do treat other poc like they're beneath them and treat white people really good. Not all but some
Omg finally someone touched on this topic. As someone who has been interested in different cultures my whole life I started to really enjoy korean culture such as the music food language and humor but the more deeper I dove into it I soon discovered the bad sides. This due to the highly structured system in Korea. I mean this in a way that Korea in general is very exclusive. This isn't just race but status how well you do in school, and of course appearance wise. The korean beauty standards are some of the highest in the world and most people who go to Korea and koreans themselves will experience the hardships of trying to live up to these standards such as have dark skin is considerd un pretty this is why when many black people go to korea they will experience alot of racism because unlike America who like tan skin Koreans prefer pale skin which is why when white people go to korea they are complemented aswell as western people who have big eyes another thing considerd beautiful. Because though koreans might not admit it but there beauty standards are heavenly influenced by looking white aswell as many Asian countries. Not only are black people treated poorly many other asians normally in the south are treated badly too for having darker complexions this includes koreans with tanned skin too. I rember watching kpop vids and always seeing that the tanner members would be picked on for some reason. In general Korean society can be quite extreme and because koreans aren't exposed to many cultures growing up they just like all people fear what's different. I rember reading about how many mixed and non koreans get bullied at school which is a horrible thing to go through as a child. Korea in general has very bad pits in its society and if you don't meet those expectations you are cast out due to the highly competitive structure that makes up the country. Which is why suicide is so common there. Most foreigners are different to Koreans so because they haven't been exposed to how different cultures work they make it up. Such as how Koreans look down on western education ( think that western people aren't as smart )and if you studied abroad your less smart and that south asian countries are less then them because they have tanner skin and are less economically advanced even when the Philippines basically helped to Korea become the country it is today which most koreans dont even know about because how little koreans are taught about other countrys and history in school but that's a whole other topic I dont wanna get into. Due to the fact of kpop booming of course kpop is gaining popularity but even kpop and many other things that sometimes koreans don't wanna admit can and is heavily influenced by western and other countries. Koreans sometimes, can think to highly of themselves and think they are better when we are all just humans. No race is smarter prettier and better. Overall This was in no way to bash korea. Korea is an amazing country but this dosent not mean all the wrongdoings In their society are acceptable. I'm so happy that today Korean people are becoming more and more open minded a learning about different ways of life because of the social media and videos like this. In general most of the younger generation are pretty accepting but trust me there are still alot that aren't and if korea dosent try to be to be more open minded (because this isn't just a problem of race) dosent change people are just not going to like korea anymore no matter how good there food or kpop might be so let's all try be more open minded no matter what country your from because everyone is different and has different experiences in life. Thank you for reading my badly composed ted talk. Ps I dont hate koreans they can be lovely and not all koreans are bad majority are the funniest and coolest people you'll meet it's not their fault they grew up I such an exclusive country so dont take it out on them.💖
I remember when I had a crush on this Asian boy in 8th grade and I am brown skin so I’m typically undesired so I would come home from school and literally sob for hours because I felt like he didn’t like me because of my race. I later learned he only dated 8th graders and that he was in a relationship and was so mad at myself for feeling bad about my skin color and race because of some boy
@Sam Not all Asians fetishize white men, imo its the foreigners that do, because white men are perceived rich in their countries, and can get them to America.
My cousin lived in South Korea because my Aunt was a school teacher in a military base and she told me that when they go to public places everyone stares and wants to take pictures and touch her hair because she’s blonde. If they’re that weird about a blonde person I couldn’t image what it’s like for a black person
When I went to vacation for 8 days in Tokyo I thought me and my friends would get a lot of stares, but we didn’t. And we are mostly brown to dark skin and kinda medium in size , some were tall. 6 girls in total! And I was surprised they weren’t staring or acting funny. So as long as they keep their feelings to themselves I don’t care, I think generationally, it might be an issue wit older Asians . But maybe Tokyo is more progressive , I don’t know. We had a fairly good experience . Thank god!
11:14 this part is really "funny" cause that's how brazilian girls are saw outside of Brazil just because we have a very free culture, we aren't ashamed of showing our bodies but that is cause here in Brazil is REAAAAALLY HOT like ALL THE TIME, even in the winter it's hot. So we are used with showing our bodies and using very tiny clothes, but it doesn't mean that we are whores or something, we just confy with our own body that's all. But we are treated like we're there just to have an one night stand thing and nothing else, with boys is the same and it's sucks (sorry if my english is bad, I'm still learning and I used Google in some sentences) love u Dorcei♥♥♥
Okay! The first thing you said about how other kbeauty gurus get off is so true and irritating. You watch these popular gurus who are out there wearing an entire face and look of korean beauty, dressing like idols, and trying to act cute but never once get called out for it! But if it's someone who can't pull it off or POC they get hate and questioned. It's so irritating and even more irritating that the gurus who don't get called out are all friends with each other.
I literally NEVER hear Koreans coming for the white girls in kbeauty! They literally flood their comment sections with support and are obsessed with them!
@Uastupidhoe You know what all your comments in this video remind me of? "Not All Men." We get it lady, not all Koreans, but that misses the ENTIRE point. This isn't about YOU. Its about people who are being mistreated by some of your peers. Shut up, listen to what they have to say, and if the chance ever comes up to tell someone who trusts you inherently because you look like them that they are being racist - do it. I'm a white lady. Do you know how I would sound saying "Not all white people are racist!?" Like an idiot. Because whether it's all or a few isn't the point. The point is that its too many. Stop defending yourself from a valid criticism of a culture you identify with and try listening. It just might make you a more compassionate human being.
@Uastupidhoe This video is about how Korea has racist aspects that she felt. No need for you to bring up other countries blah blah. Yes we all know that racism is a big problem anywhere in the world. But for you to bring up how you feel sad seems kinda out of place cuz this video is first and foremost about how she felt and experienced as a black foreigner living Seoul unlike you and I. So.. yeah.
See? There you go. Why are you claiming yourself a victim while not acknowledging other people's experience of racism just cuz it was in Korea?? Do you represent all Koreans?? I lived in the states for 20 years before moving to Canada in an all-white neighborhood. But do i generalize my experience to invalidate others'? No. But you seem like you are not the type who can understand human language. Plus, you are the one who came to my comment and this video to preach bullshit that you believe. Bye~ won't read, or comment on your post anymore.
As an American I agree with you because daily life here isn’t what is in the media. The media likes to fear monger. Thank you for sharing your story and I just love you and your personality. You are fair and kind I really love what you stand for. Also, I read some of the comments and I just want to tell everyone I love you and be whoever you want to be! You are valid you are beautiful and I hope you guys live your best life.
Isn't blaming his hat kind of like blaming a short skirt on a woman for why she may get assaulted? It's a piece of clothing! So much of what you talked about is just so damned sad!
I totally agree that korean in Korea think dark skin is not attractive. Well, to be honest in all of Asia they think that. I'm proud to be dark skin instead of bleaching myself with chemicals. People is always going to hate because either they are not taught or just plain ignorant. So now everything to korean surgery or whatever cosmetic has been a culture which I always thought Americans had always been known for. Well, just make it up to say anything could be made cultural now and days.
Lee Michele or whatev made me so sick. She basically said 'I dealt with it so don't complain." They had a moment to actually care and address racism and they brushed it off. They stood up for the aggressors and bullies. They have a "me too" movement in Korea and it's not because someone sat back "just dealing with it." So she definitely isn't a black person willing to be a leader of change. And don't call me 'black noona' and then turn around addressing me informally when you don't know me. Because if you want to be respectful, respect me like you respect everyone else and don't speak rudely to show how "close" we are. I'm sorry I'm having a rant. I've met nice Koreans but others need to be put in their place. The passive-aggressiveness is out of this world and I just didn't have the time for it.

Something I hate about racist people from any culture:
They will get mad at you for using something that originated from their culture, yet they don’t realise that a lot of stuff they use is from other races’ cultures.
Camille Dorvilier-Schell your right!
@Camille Dorvilier-Schell in a lot of KPOP choreography there are a lot of African dance moves but they think it's Korean.
K-Pop is straight up black culture.
TheOriginalFlowerchild exactly I get the “you act too white” comments all the time and it’s so annoying especially online
TheOriginalFlowerchild i agree 👌🏾 you’re so pretty btw
As a korean male, With a black girlfriend can say these things are totally valid. The country is still growing and many people believe that these problems don’t exist until it affects them. I was really shocked when we ran into these problems.

Wow! Smh all I can say is wow!
Smdh...
my sister is mostly like this. my family is Mexican and she is super fucking racist. "Did you guys celebrate her dogs birthday? you know how white people are."
"she is black."
"oh my fucking god, veronica! why you would you go? you know that they're dangerous! you're not allowed to go to another black person's party again!"
I confronted her about it and she said she was fucking joking. THAT didnt sound like a joke to me, she was SERIOUS. people hide their racism when they get confronted and act the victim.
@@vibc-png wow your sister has some problems. I hope she realizes how blatantly racist she is and eventually tries to fix it.

This is one of the reasons why I can’t get down with k pop. The dances and choreography they do is heavily influenced by hip hop dance, which is rooted deeply in black culture.
@Uastupidhoe so because some black people are racist to Koreans , it makes it okay for the other way round. You don't fight fire with fire
•Mimi • *PREACH SHISHTER* 💅🏽💅🏽

And also the white worship among asians, and thinking if they date or marry white or half a white person in their company they somehow leveled up in humanity. But in 2019, you gotta realize you aint white, and the white person that hates blacks is gonna hate you too..cause you aint white.
Ps I dont hate koreans they can be lovely and not all koreans are bad majority are the funniest and coolest people you'll meet it's not their fault they grew up I such an exclusive country so dont take it out on them.💖
I really appreciate your comment and agree with you👍
I remember when I had a crush on this Asian boy in 8th grade and I am brown skin so I’m typically undesired so I would come home from school and literally sob for hours because I felt like he didn’t like me because of my race. I later learned he only dated 8th graders and that he was in a relationship and was so mad at myself for feeling bad about my skin color and race because of some boy
Asian guys are not worth it. Apparently I’m “too dark” so here I am, avoiding asian guys at all cost
Sam are you sure it’s just not the American born asians who forsake their culture
Sam , nah. I know many Asian girls who hate white men.
why did the same thing happen to me
@Sam Not all Asians fetishize white men, imo its the foreigners that do, because white men are perceived rich in their countries, and can get them to America.
Thank god!
Tokyo is used to seeing foreigners. The weird stuff happens in the villages
Same here in my opinion i think tokyo is a safe place for black womams

Okay! The first thing you said about how other kbeauty gurus get off is so true and irritating. Uastupidhoe A few? There’s a lot.
I'm Korean and I totally get what you feel. Well, I'm a Korean Canadian living in Korea but i am shocked by the blatant racism in everyday language
@Uastupidhoe This video is about how Korea has racist aspects that she felt. No need for you to bring up other countries blah blah. Yes we all know that racism is a big problem anywhere in the world.
I love how you kept going from serious discussion to 'ok here's the palette I'm using' 😂 -no hate just saying- love your vids btw. 💜❤
