My daughter went to Korean school and when they heard her speak Korean, the elders were very taken in by her. They loved working with her when it came to traditional korean inki and brush writing. The elderly women would argue with each other on who was going to be her teacher for the day. When she went in to be tested in her language skills, she thought she was a beginner but she tested as an advanced student, Where did she learn the language? She learned from dramas and she learned Hangul writing from her Tae kwon do Masters and their parents. She is a 3rd degree black belt, working on becoming a master herself.
Amazing ❤
Ok? 💀
@@pengii6804 jealously isn't cute
Wow, cool!❤
@@pengii6804 yeah ok edgelord
I love the word "cute" for describing foreigners who love Korean food. 😊
isn’t it cute ?! haha
@@ThizisDannydo you think black people live safe in Korea love your video ✌️👏👏💕
@@Snowingslow-k._. Hey! I obviously cant talk from my own personal experience but I went with my friend to Korea back in 2021 for 6 weeks and she's black and she had no issues really when she was there! the only thing was a couple of nightclubs didn't let her in but there are plenty that are supper friendly to everyone! I'm aware visiting for 6 weeks isn't a huge amount of time but hope this helps!
@@alana2975 owhh thanks 😊
@@Snowingslow-k._.I’ve spent about 7 weeks total in Korea over 3 separate trips, just got back from my last one last week.
I’m a Southeast Asian, deeply tanned girl. If you’re asking if there’s colorism, I am gonna have to say yes. Definitely more than I ever experienced in neighbouring Japan or Taiwan. It’s not quite overt for the most part, but I’ve had a few unpleasant run-ins that I could have done without.
Eating in Korea was interesting sometimes. Especially the older people in the restaurants smiled and watched me eating when I was happy with the food I had 😄
as if they are your grandparents right ? haha
@@ThizisDanny Exactly! 😀
I went to korean restaurants (in Germany) and they're usually run by families too and the elders were always very warm and happy. I love it so much. Last time this grandpa gave me a thumbs up at my flushed cheeks bc I drank Soju that night😂
I lived in Seoul for a few months in 1997-1998, playing with a singer named Lee Seung Hwan. We did a tour, which was actually in Seoul except for one or two shows. I really enjoyed meeting the Korean people. I guess that would be "old" music today. I loved the food. Seung Hwan and our other hosts would take us to American restaurants at first, but we told them we always ate Korean food when we were out on our own, they started to take us to Korean restaurants that they liked. I think it is exactly as you said--that they were afraid we would not like Korean food. But most Americans from larger cities are familiar with all types of Asian food, and enjoy eating the authentic versions when traveling!! Good luck with your channel.
Wow~ what an amazing experience that must have been! So cool
I rather enjoy Lee Seung Hwans music 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Thanks for sharing. 😊
As harsh as it may sound…if you are very white in hair color or colored eyes…they will all like you. If you sre brown OR dark hair plus dark eyed youll be treated like s of the earth.
“Someone who takes good pictures”…I didn’t see that coming 🤣🤣🤣
I've lived here in Korea for almost a decade now, and i think this video is sensationally accurate.
Excellent advice!

Dan in a suit! In celebration of the 100,000 subscribers? In any case, congratulations. Glad your channel‘s thriving.
I thought he was going to a funeral!
yes in celebration ( but actually was wearing it for an event and filmed this when I had time)
I am looking forward to my first trip to Korea next month, and I really enjoy your gentle tips for visitors. You are such a gentleman, in the truest sense of the word. I'm sure your parents are very proud of you. You are a wonderful ambassador for your country and people.
Dan, I think you shared a lot of great tips for people not just visiting Korea but interacting with Korean-Americans in the USA. I have been married to a beautiful Korean lady for 48 years and even lived in Korea for 5 years. I enjoy good Gugak (Song So-hee in particular) and Trot music. While I can't eat the strong spicy food there is plenty I like. Before I ever went to Korea for the first time I studied the history and traditions and also the concepts and ideas of Confucianism because I was informed that if you understand that I would understand much about Korean society.
Danny, you are an amazing person. I've recently gotten hooked onto K-Dramas and Chinese dramas. I have many Korean friends here in California who've shared their favorite local dishes with me that I've grown to love. I'm Hawaiian, Chinese and Portuguese. Being from Hawai'i, I grew up eating all types of Kimchi and can't get enough of it. This segment is my first introduction to your channel. I believe that everyone should respect and honor people of all cultures, especially our elders. I've learned many basic words and phrases, and my friends enjoy me using them. Mahalo plenty for sharing your information with us.🌺🤙❤️
I only watch k dramas as well. My entire family thinks I'm so weird. I'm Irish and Cherokee Indian mostly. I love the fact that the families stay together and help each other. They certainly don't do that in the U.S.!
Thank you for this post!
Congratulations on 100k Danny. So awesome.
Thank you so much you’re so good at explanation.
You deserve having all those subscribers Dan. Congratulations!
Congrats on 100,000 subscribers. You are awesome.
Thank you young man!! Very helpful! You are so amazing!!❤
congratulations on 100k. I feel as part of one's language learning, it's so important to learn about the culture. I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to knowledge and I like learning how things came about too. I hope that people become more respectful towards people and their culture. Let's all respect and support each other because at the end of the day we live on the same planet but live differently.
Thanks. I obviously have some studying to do before I travel to Korea this autumn.
Congratulations on reaching 100,000 viewers!
I love your tip for taking a full shot ❤
This is the easiest tip i ever heard 😊
I love this video! Super helpful info! Thank you so much for sharing! 🫶
Korean food is THE BEST, I don’t know how I ever lived without it and now I eat it all the time. Love your Brittish accent 🫶
Very informative thank you really enjoyed it ❤
Thank you for explaining it s so helpful
New to your channel! Congrats on the 100k subscribers!
I think 1) respecting your elders and 2) respecting the culture of the country you're visiting should be common courtesy.
I'd love to try some Korean food when I visit, but as much as I like a little spice, I can't handle the real spicy food.
I love Korea, when I watch any historical dramas of the Joseon Dynasty or early 1920s-1930s, I always research later because I want to understand how much of the drama was based on true historical facts and this way I learn more about the history of your country. I love learning about other cultures, languages and food and comparing to see the similarities as well as the differences in our cultures.
I agree with you on how one should always show respect to elders...but want to add that respect should always be shown to others, no matter the age. And I am the same as you, I love researching historical facts while watching historical dramas. I feel immensely thankful for the chance to get a window to other contries traditions and history via the internet. (When I was growing up (I am 67), one had to go to the library to search from the limited supply of books on various matters. BTW, I love kimchi, korean chicken and more.....hmmm, and mageolli ☺
@@linda.s.gisladTotally agree that respect should be given to anyone regardless of age. I'm also 67, well until September. I'm grateful for the internet that we have so much information at our fingertips. I'm Greek American living in Greece, though I've gotten used to the metric system, I'll say google helped especially at converting recipes. You can search anything...my phone had a problem and I found the answer online. I bought a bread maker here that had various languages but didn't have English, so I searched and found the English instruction manual. Going to the library was fun because I loved reading, but of course had limits.
You have shared some great and helpful information . Thank you.
Hope you make more about Korea🙌Love it🙏Thank you for all this information.
축하해요!
Thank you for another enlightening video.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'm adding this to my 'visit Korea' playlist.

What a fabulous video reallly loved it. Hello from London keep up the good work
Gamsahabnida this video was awesome! Very helpful! Congratulations on the 100,000 subscribers 🎉!
I am 67 and will probably never have the chance to go to Korea, but for the last five years or so I've been a big fan of K-Drama and would love to see all things Korean. I especially like the way most parts of an animal are used in Korean food, it's both sensible and respectful to the animal. I would love to try it but I'm a long way from a Korean restaurant.
I love the courtesy and respect shown to each other. I think I appreciate it more because I'm an older Londoner, though London has never really been known for manners. ;¬)
I'm gradually learning as much Korean through K-Drama and singing along to Korean music, as I can, and surprise my family sometimes with Korean words and sentences, and music playing in my car. It's a lot of fun and might even help keep my brain a little younger for a while. :¬)
Dan I really like your videos and find them entertaining and helpful so I hope you will keep making them for a long long time.
Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers, and I hope you get many more.
Hey Dan, congratulations on 100,000 subscribers 👏. Thanks for sharing. Love Korean food and culture. Hope to visit someday 😊

Congratulations Danny on 100,000subscribers!! You are so great at what you do, and I, for one really look forward to your content! I think when I was in Korea, I tried to do a lot of the things you suggest. I did not learn any old songs or take great photos! However, many Korean locals would offer to take our pictures and that was great! And I’m in love with food! No problem there! A good topic!❤❤
Yes, it was a fun video. Thanks for sharing it.
Congratulations Dan!!! I enjoyed this video. I can relate to most of the things you have mentioned they are also on my list. Thank you ❣️🇺🇸

Congratulations on your milestone! 🎉 And thanks the tips. I am visiting Korea in September.
My wife and I are planning to go to Korea in Jan / 25. She is a massive Fan of K-dramas, and recognizes many of the actors already.
So now it's my job to.learn as many Korean norms, culture and language to get there and not commit social faux pas.

Wonderful video. I really appreciate the information. 😊
Congrats Dan!! Love all these tips! I really enjoyed my trips to Korea before and I hope to visit again! :)
I do enjoy chanting 대한민국!!
Your videos are beneficial; thank you for taking the time to research and post them. I agree; taking the time to research and understand the culture and people does help, as well as learning simple words and phrases. Korea is such a beautiful country, and I'm thankful I was able to experience it firsthand six months ago. Everyone I met while I was there was kind and helpful. I felt safe everywhere I went especially since I took a solo trip. However, I will admit two weeks is definitely not long enough to visit, so my next planned trip will be longer. I look forward to when that happens. Also congrats on reaching 100K subscribers!
I had the trip of a lifetime visiting Korea over the past two weeks. Thank you for your tips and insight which helped me make the most of my trip 🤝
Good to see you posting more. I was there in 2017 and was already in to Korean culture. I was there to see the historical places first. Those I spoketo where very impressed of my knowledge and being in awe of the historical places. It really s incredible being in places you see in historical dramas. Knowing its been around for hundreds of years.
Love kpop but still cant get into the older music though!
love the content
New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I've been in love with culture my entire life and I hope to save up and visit Korea and Japan in a few years and have been trying to find hands-on, trustworthy sources to learn not just the language, but the culture as well as while I think I've got a good grasp of the basics, I'm still woefully ignorant of a lot of the nuances. I appreciate the honesty you bring to your videos and the boundaries you place and I hope to use the knowledge I learn from you, and other generous creators to fully enjoy my, eventual, experience in Korea. It's been such a fun journey so far to learn all there is to learn and I very much look forward to more informational, and fun, videos from you.
Your work and your dedication is appreciated.
Loved you’re tips☺️🫶🏻 great videos👌🏻
I am so happy I found your channel! I've subscribed. I am a huge fan of K-dramas, and have always been impressed with the culture, especially the respect that is shown. I am 72 and wished I had a better memory, so I could learn more of the language, while watching the shows. I do recognize many phrases when they are spoken though, which makes me happy. Thank you for having such a wonderful channel, especially for K-drama lovers like myself.
Thank you so much, it helped a lot knowing what preparations I need to do.

Dan, 안녕하세요. I wanted to say thank you for your time and effort in making these videos. I am traveling to Seoul for the first time this year with my bff, and your videos have been going a long way in helping me prepare and put my mind at ease. Through my friend, and favorite group, I have been learning alot about Korean people, culture, food, and beauty, and it's been incredible 🥰. So thank you once again, and I look forward to more content.

Congratulation to your 100.000 and much more sucess to your fabolous channel, interesting videos, charming you! Yes, all items you say suits to me! Well done video. Thank you for talking about people appreciating the cultural values of Korea.
Hi Dan,
I trust this message finds you in good spirits. Congratulations on crossing 100,000 subscribers 🎉🎊 I wanted to take a moment to express my recent fascination with the captivating portrayal of Korean culture in Kdramas. Despite their fictional nature, these dramas consistently highlight values of decency and integrity, often in contrast to certain depictions in Western movies. The characters in Kdramas frequently embody admirable morals and principles, making the viewing experience truly enriching and inspiring for me.
I dream of visiting Korea one day to fully immerse myself in its rich culture, witness its stunning beauty firsthand, and indulge in its delicious cuisine. Your videos are not only highly informative but also a source of joy for me, particularly with your eloquent English and remarkable accent. Keep up the fantastic work!😊

breaks the ice and people are friendly if you try to say at a couple of words in their language. I loved this video!

Hi Dan, thank you so much for the videos. You inspired me to visit Incheon a few weeks ago where some lovely things happened. I went to have lunch near Jayu Park and was enjoying a hangover soup in a restaurant. Halfway through my meal, an Ajumma, who I hadn't spoken to at all, decided to pay for my lunch! Now that I've seen your video (1st point) I think I know why she paid for my meal.
The other nice thing was when I was looking at the Tri-bowl, another Ajumma who worked at the Tourist centre started chatting and she took me out for dinner too! Incheon is definitely a place to visit. Thank you for all the travel tips Dan 🙂
Hi Danny. Thanks so much for this video. I am so glad I found you! You are adorable and clearly embody Korean principles. I love the things you shared and as you mentioned, many are true of other cultures as well. I have only met a few Korean people in person and I love that you are a “real” local Korean that I can learn from. 😄
I love watching Kdramas (that I discovered about 10 years ago) and I would like to visit there someday.
Since you asked, I would love to hear everything about both Korean traditions and current living. Also everything about favorite foods. I am also really interested in family folk music and songs that little kids learn growing up from toddler through grade school. I know K-pop groups are becoming very popular also. Take care and thanks again. I will subscribe right now and I look forward to seeing more of your videos! 👍
