- Is it a pie maker? Is it a quiche maker? Nope, it turns out it is a pizza maker that normally retails for around £50! I stumbled upon this kitchen gadget at a charity shop but had to take a guess at what it does - spoiler alert, small pies are not recommended! Hope you enjoy this video as much as I had fun testing it!

Hey folks if you enjoyed this there's an individual kitchen gadget testing playlist here so grab the popcorn and have a Barrathon ruclips.net/video/olFYfhtScR4/видео.html
And the quiche folded over would have made a quesadilla
The quiche pastry really needed to be prebaked before going in there, and even then, im not sure the thick egg layer would set before the pastry starts to burn.
Tell you what though, I bet that thing would make amazing naan bread!
@@Bill-Door Ohhh great call. I was given one of these things as a housewarming gift. I now have an actual use for it.
Well, you know what you need to make next: a pizza quiche.
Hi de hi Barry - I just got out of hospital (all good, happily) and this video was a balm to the soul. I might have a cheeky Barrathon on the weekend, as a treat for getting through the whole hospital experience. Much love.
Barry wondering how all the scratches occurred "did they have a cat?" Proceeds to use a metal utensil on a non-stick surface, wonders if one of his dogs turned into a cat.
I was just about to call him out about the metal utensils thing. ^u^; Seriously, I cringed every time he went in there with that off-set spatula of his.
*scrape*scrape*scrape*
He addressed it, near the end he says something like "now I know why it has so many scratches"
16:06
😂 just noticed that 😅
It's a pizzamaker in the most literal sense of the word: Everything you put in becomes a pizza.
It's the only kitchen utensil I would need if we went back into quarantine.
@@tncorgi92 we more or less are still
I was seen people cook burgers and warm buns on these
It's made for frozen pizzas, and works a treat. They are branded Betty Crocker here in canada.
Not just frozen pizza's. Also quiches, fresh omelettes, pancakes.. all sorts of stuff. Just not really for fresh pizza.
Coming to you from the makers of MicroRave cakes
I feel like the audience who eats mainly frozen pizzas and the audience who'd buy a unique use tool like this are entirely separate. That's like buying a fifty dollar device that perfectly cooks your hot pockets.
In China , It's made for making pancake, roti ,flat bread, ect. It's really works but please choose this machine with the big handle one. It safe and secure.
It makes great tortillas as well, for pizza it is too low. You can make it, and it is better than using cold tray and make pizza in home oven, but it makes only 392°F/200°C, this is multifunctional, but for proper pizza you need twice the heat.
As an American from the southwest I immediately thought: Quesadillas!
That's what I thought as well
They actually have machines that are nearly identical on the outside, except they have a pattern on the inside of the pans to make it where you can separate the quesadilla. I actually have both these types of machines.
Grats on inventing the quiche pizza
You could call it the... Quizza
@@johndrozdz1371 piche
@@alexe184 Scrambled egg mess with surprise hidden crust
i actually sometimes put a tortilla inside my omelette while cooking it so it looks exactly the same as this... seems like i invented it first 😅
burns hands on electric pizza oven plans on opening pizza restaurant with actual fire i do not see a problem there lol
Also made pizza with ketchup
Hoping Barry won’t be the chef... his pizzas look a tad crappy
i wear gloves around hot items. just common sense.
15:02 The face of realisation, then that reveal is possibly the greatest few seconds of content I’ve seen for ages. No one was expecting that 😂😂
When you're scrolling through your subs and the first captions on the preview say "Banging. Shouting." And you think normal Barry video then.
"Hi guys, Barry here. Today I'll be making 3 types of pizzas: crepe, standard, and quiche" 😂😂😂😂
I have one of these and love it! I've made grilled cheese sandwiches, baked cookies, quesadilla, and omelets
I have never wanted someone to use a pizza maker to make a cake out of giant pancakes so much in my life.
Well at least you know someone has used it before so it's probably not going to burn the house down like the Grilled Cheese Toaster wanted to do.
Or the American toaster he used, 110v appliance in a 240v country.
He's not terribly bright is he?
@@TapDancerDood no, but the fire was.
That was my favourite episode
Since the toaster on fire I'm always scared for everyone if you got one of this random... things. xD And everytime you confirm an UK power plug I just take a breath of relief
Glad I wasn't alone in breathing a sigh of relief!
“Crepes, yno like British pancakes” defo not French then. 😂 love these videos! Spending more time on one gadget is fab.
I would call this an appliance, not a gadget.
We call them pancakes in Britain.
Can't tell if you were being serious or sarcastic.
Ah yes, that proper British pancake, the crepe lol
It's great for pizzas, omelets , pancakes or flatbread. So mine got a stamp of approval.
Red light is for preheating and it’s probably great for frozen or preabaked pizza crust (ex;Boboli)
"Why has it got scratches" because for some reason you're using metal utensils on a non stick coating...
He's not too bright is he. Andy England 🇬🇧👍
Exactly!!!! I hate when people scratch the finish like that
"Straight from a cow... Well, I presume."
Can a farmer please invite him to their farm and show Barry the process behind milk.
I clicked pause at the first second. I owned this pizza cooker. I lived in an apartment with no stove and it's how I cooked things. I never had an issue with it. It's easy to use and all my food cooked perfectly.
Now to see if Barry has issues with it....
Before it does return to the charity shop, I would love to see you experiment with even more recipes with it, like a cake or a giant cookie.
Barry luv,
The food is not smoking. It is steaming. Smoke comes from burning food. Steam comes from cooking. Luv you mate!
This would be awesome for Yorkshire pudding wraps 👌
I think to get the best out of these devices, you have to shut the lid and be strict with yourself about not opening it for a set time for pizza. it allows that burny hot air that you've sampled to cook the pizza.
yeah and heat it up before cooking, so the top part gets hot and has any chance of browning the cheese and crust
Never made homemade pizza before, would it be a good tip to brush some olive oil around the outermost inch or two to get the top crust browned a bit better?
@@odkres yea pizza should go in a hot oven, not cold
@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN Olive Oil doesn't have a high heat point, but that's a good idea - use avocado oil instead.
Or even better: some clarified butter or gee butter. They have high smoking point and will give nice shine
Oh my god, I laughed so hard at the end that tears were rolling down my cheeks. 😂😂😂😂😂
A small note! You called the flat pancakes "British pancakes", but in Scotland our pancakes are closer to small American style pancakes (sometimes called drop scones in England).
They also get called scotch pancakes in shops :)
LOL My husband is a diesel mechanic and he always gets the new guys in the shop by telling them to go check and see if they have any A.I.R...😂😂😂😂
2:45 i would definitely fall for this 😭 'Elbow Grease' is a real product, i use it to clean my oven!
Hahaha yeah blinker fluid is also a real product 🌈
The "pancake" looked more like a Yorkshire pudding wrap in the end!
Hey Barry! I live in Switzerland and I really miss curlywurlys. I was wondering if you make one on the channel! I love your vids! 💞💞💞
Great idea!
Thanks for the reply ❤️
TBF that is a great idea
If you want some sent over let me know 😁
@@mrbarrylewis Do it Barry, make a supersize Curlywurly!
Its steam, not smoke. I have a couple of these (for different items but basically the same things). They steam a lot.
Also, it would probably make amazing quesadias.
Your joy and enthusiasm is uplifting~
Hi there! I also own a pizza maker (I use the Breville one). The reason why the oven gets so hot is because the cooking surface needs to be hot to get the nice crust on the dough. You do need to heat up the oven BEFORE putting the dough in though- hence the red and green lights. I think that the pizza cooked faster on the bottom than on the top because you didn't allow the oven to heat up first before putting the dough in. The bottom cooks via conduction (direct contact) whilst the top cooks via convection (heating via fluid, in this case air). This basically means that when the pizza is cooked without letting the oven warm up, the bottom cooks, while the top pretty much needs to catch up. You were also testing it out, but opening the lid over and over again meant that the hot air from the oven (the means to cook the top) kept escaping, so while the bottom continually got hotter/remained hot, the top cooked less evenly the more that you opened up the oven. I would recommend giving this another try by letting the oven heat up to the green light first, sliding the assembled pizza into the oven using a peele (or if you do not have one, assemble the pizza on parchment paper, lifting it into the oven, and then sliding the parchment paper out), and then patiently wait until the pizza has finished cooking before removing the pie. How long really depends on the thickness of your dough, and the exact brand of your oven, so I can't tell you an exact time, but give it some experimentation and I bet that your future pies will be better!
There has been some really great editing lately!
Your videos are so fun, you have seem to have boundless energy and enthusiasm. I can only imagine what you were like as a toddler. :D
He kinda still is.
Literally crying with laughter at the quiche... It was... something. 🤣
When you lifted it up the 3rd time with the quiche I lost it 😂😂.. I’ve been crying for 30 minutes.. love the content Barry!
Barry, the standard of quality British fun.
I loved it when the Quiche turned into a pizza/omelette in itself. xD
🤣🤣🤣🤣 it never fails! He constantly is burning himself despite the last burn. Have mercy!
Barry always makes my day better, but he went above and beyond today! I laughed way too hard at the pancake, reminds me of the movie uncle buck!
Much like stovetop pan pizza, it will probably work best if you put the dough / batter (pourable batter) in, cook it, flip it, then dress the newly cooked surface while the raw / pale side also gets cooked.
Omg I laughed when you opened it to look at the quiche 😂😂😂
3:35 Ms. B experienced an inexplicable
sense of relief. Go Chloe! Pepperoni is my favorite too.
Oh, no! That intro was very worrisome 😅
Glad to be early for once!
Well there you go Barry your first pizza oven.
You can always grill it at the end. Or start it in the oven and use the pizza gadget to crisp up the base
I have a quasedia maker that is exactly the same, although it has triangle sections to cut each slice as it goes! It was donated from the mother in law who received it as a free gift from a catalogue about 20 years ago! It does work, but far easier to just use a flying oan/griddle!
There are dozens of variations, same concept as a waffle maker but all in different shapes. One year my mother gave me a version that made mini-doughnuts.
Ha, the hedge thing... its called regifting!I was watching the lady over the back do it at the weekend and she felt she had to explain.... she said it helped that he was an awful neighbour! hahah
I love the amount of content you are putting out each week!!
the quiche is a visual representation of all the plans I had for 2020
I'm jealous of the fact that you effectively got that for $2
I have one My brother got me one for Christmas last year and I use it several times a week I absolutely love it we buy these nice thick locally made tortilla shells and we use that as the crust to make pizzas and I absolutely love it I use the machine quite a lot I think we paid $40 US for it
It's one of my most used machines second only to my air fryer and my Ninja toaster
By the way I absolutely love the idea of making giant fruit sweet filled pancake burritos I'm absolutely going to have to do that now with mine :-)
We have had one in our kitchen for well over a decade. They're really only frozen pizza makers, that's what their temperature curve is designed for, boy do they do them fast and well, though.
I love your vids dude haha but you need to tell the difference between steam and smoke 🤣🤣🤣
That moment when you opened it and revealed the quiche! Priceless
I have found the one you use for €30,- on a dutch online shop (like amazon). In the description they said “multi use; pizza, pancakes, omelet, quiche, tortilla, quesadilla and more” lol
Start a video with Barry burning his fingers
*evil grin*
This is going to be hilarious.
Hope you're well
haha yeah that thing was hot!
The way I have used it with home made pizzas is to put the dough with no toppings, after a few minutes (4-5 mins max) I flip it and THEN I add the sauce and toppings, that way the top is nicely cooked and in the time it takes to toast the bottom after I flip it all the toppings cook very nice. It works wonderfully with store bought frozen pizza because those are already pre-cooked :)
I also have a quesadilla maker (which in México we call "sincronizadas" = synchronized) which are made with a flour tortilla in the bottom, a lot of cheese (and optional ingredients like ham) and a tortilla on top.
Saludos.
This would be great for making naan bread in! Or tortillas
One thing you could've done is possible par-cook the shell before adding in the actual egg mixture. Might have been able to set in place without bring flattened into a pizza. Or is might not have worked. You never know with some products.
I properly laughed out loud when you opened it up to find the quiche dough had collapsed 😂😂😂
You've invented the Quicheza!
unless its broken its supposed to have heating elements in both the top and bottom
Maybe that is why the red light never goes on/off
I lost it when you opened the machine to see the quiche.. Hilarious😂 Everything looks delicious anyways.
I swear every video Barry makes is so interesting! 🧐 love it!
I have one called a Flavorchef. It’s great. I cook loads of things in it that I would otherwise cook in the oven. It came with a silicone cake pan which you could use for a quiche I suppose. I’ve never tried it.
Looked it up, apparently it's called the "DOMO My Express", and quiche, pancakes, and pizza are all listed as things you can make with it.
You are a 'hoot'!!! Enjoyed your video. Las Vegas, NV usa.
barry burning himself as per usual 🤣🤣🤣
The reaction for the third recipe when you opened the lid to see it flat like a frisbee made me laugh so much. Actually seems like a decent gadget considering you got it for £2.50.
Haven't laughed so hard in a while😂 oh that inside out quiche
You'd be able to get those size pancakes in the Netherlands! Would be amazing as a savory pancake maker, add some cheese and bacon or something.
I think that we need to find a way to permanently attach a pair of oven mitts to Barry's hands... Poor guy, He gets burnt so often, that whenever he reviews a gadget that has any kind of heating element it's become a matter of when he's going to burn himself, instead of if he's going to. So much for the old saying "Once burnt, twice shy"! More like "Once burnt, umm..maybe I'll try it again just one more time..." or "Once burnt, twice shy...Until the next gadget review!". LOL! J/K, I just get worried one of these times he's gonna really burn himself. He really needs to be a tad bit more careful for his own sake!
I did a bit of "research" (a quick google lol), and just for anyone who might interested...it seems that this little device is an "My Express Versatile Kitchen Appliance" by DOMO. The description says it's ideal for fresh or frozen pizzas, omelettes, pancakes, quiche, tortillas, etc. Leave the lid open and you can use the bottom plate as a baking tray. Oh, and it can cook a pizza in about 13 minutes. So technically you were not wrong, when you initially thought it was pancake/crepe maker.
pizza with no cheese! i make pizzas as a job and we look at anyone who asks for no cheese like they are ghosts. also the way we do it is
- a 72 hour proove on dough
- tomato sauce with basil and garlic.
- bbq drizzled on base
- cheese and motzerella chunks
- chicken
- peppers
-onions
- more bbq drizzle on the top
we stone bake them
The dough made from yoghurt and flouwer will not get darker than that. And there is no smoking, it´s vapor, like always when wet things get warmed up.
We have this exact pizza maker. It's fun to make pizza's together but you indeed have to really watch 9ut with the steam. I let it out every minute to make my pizza crisper. I also blind bake the dough for 5 mins.
Myself and my wife have made some of these cooking ideas thanks to you they worked great . Anymore brilliant ideas?
It also cooks from the top 😊😊it’s a Betty Crocker Pizza cooker
"I just can't justify the price"
What, £2.50? 😂
1 to 2 minutes of aggressive beating does it for me too:) It makes it sooo flutty!
If u want the top crust to brown a little, may I suggest that u cook the pizza dough for a few minutes without the toppings, then flip it, and then u add the toppings?
Barry: "Its doing that thing where it smokes again. We know what this normally means..."
Then you should have jumped to the clip of that one toaster that caught fire lol
Perhaps you need some oil on the top especially the edge of the pizza and it would be better. I don't know just a idea.
That pancake/crepe is perfect sized for some fresh lemon curd infused whip creme and fresh berries. Especially if you're sharing with someone else!
The best I’m from the USA and I told new guy to get a bucket of steam !
You should cook the crust half way, flip it over, then top the cooked side with toppings while the other side cooks and the toppings mingle and cheese melts..
Berry!! Everytime you use one of these things it burns you 🤣🤣 your a gluten for punishment 🤣 Love you!
You're going to have to feature quiches on the menu when you open your pizza kitchen.
it is actually meant to be used as a flatbread baking device.... the size and the flatness of it would suggest so. I bed you can make a mean roti or any other flatbread in there. Especially for people who don't have the right size pan ....
All you had to do was leave the quiche support in.
When you bake a quiche in the oven and take its support away you will get the sane results.
Sheesh LA quiche! 😂
As I often tell customers in the charity shop I work in, you never know what hidden gems are brought in
Operation: Buy Barry some of those steam-safe OvGloves 2021
Lets go everybody. to the barry lewis road to 1 million subscribers
lol I too looked it up, The multipurpose electric pan Domo DO9177PZ is
I have had a few clamshell pizza ovens, you should pre-heat it until it shuts off, then put the pizza in, not put the pizza into a cold machine, the GFerrari I have now will cook a pizza from scratch in about 5 minutes or less, I have never been brave enough to try it on maximum hotness!
If it had fully heated up, the batter wouldn't have spread so much. I have an Aldi 9 in pie maker. I do all sorts in it. It does an amazing 3 egg omlette with veg. Just have to stir the mix in it a cpl of times. Just have to use your imagination. So easy to clean also. While its hot, put wet kitchen towel in and put the lid down while hot and after your meal, wipe it round with a damp cloth. I expect all of these things work in a similar way.
if I remember correctly, those were sold in the US for use with the frozen pizzas that we have a lot of. I remember them being terrible, and I imagine it is the same reason that water kettles take forever to heat up here: that pesky 110v/220v problem.
Breakfast pizza. Yum. Sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, black pudding. You could do a ketchup sauce or brown sauce instead of the normal overpowering tomato sauce with grated cheddar on top. That would be a top seller if you open a pizza shop in Oxfordshire.
Genuinely thought your neighbours were knocking to tell you your garage was on fire 😂
