Former/retired chef here, and I'm absolutely stunned by a couple of these experiments and how well they turned out. Some were (obviously) no surprise. The pizza, the mushrooms, definitely the scallops (I was cringing the whole time you were cooking those) all seemed to go exactly as I expected...but the sea bass totally blew me away. I've even done toasted sandwiches in mine.
As someone whose family is actually from Padrón, first of all I love that you seem to use Padron peppers a lot and like it, it makes me feel proud in a weird but cool way (it's a little town with less than 9000 people living there, so it's not like we are well known overseas). Just a little tip, tho: even when in almost all Spain everybody tend to make them with his tail to grab them better and make them easier to eat, the truth is that they're way better without that and we usually take them off with the tip of a knife. That little tail it's still part of the plant, so it gives a little bit of a nasty flavor (not much, but still) when cooked at the same time, and it keeps the pepper to be well cooked inside, leaving some seeds. Best way to make them, at least traditionally, is to take off the tail, put them in hot oil and reduce the heat when throwed inside the pan to prevent then to burn fast. Anyway, keep the good work, guys :)
Pimientos Padrón are my absolute favourite - a real shame we find them so rarely here in Germany, where I live. I would eat them every other day if I could! ahah
James and Ben are a great combination! The level of experience and skill is matched so they don't have to talk down to each other. And both are so loveable 🙌❤
It seems like James hates the idea of a table top gadget that can do things as well as him, but with great ease and speed. He seems to value the skill, time, and effort of things rather than just the end result.
It's because most instant products always come with major drawbacks. In this case, the drawbacks were very minimalist to the point of it being a genuinely useful kitchen utility appliance.
In Italy that little oven is very popular and many people even make some mods to it to make it even more powerful (you can find many on youtube). Btw, do you think it could be used to make tandoori chicken? Seeing that the real cooking method for that dish requires very high temps that you only get from a tandoor oven?
Maybe UK does not need modding because they are not under EU law ? They mentioned theirs goes over 400°C as it comes and EU law prohibits going over 350°C or something for this category of device which is not much better than a normal oven. I modded a Bestron Alfredo with a PC Fan. I think it is more sturdy than the Ferrari G3. They still build these pizzamakers the same way before they were outlawed just the sensor stops the heat at a different temperature.
I feel like that is the best compliment you can get Ben. "I would never think of *insert ingredients*." In this case the sundried tomatoes and pesto on prawns.
I think this video genuinely added value to the home pizza oven. It was designed "only" to cook pizza but this video showed how much potential utility it has.
I really like the idea of it being so small; with that little space being heated it'll inherently be significantly more efficient than a full-size oven. For smaller stuff (like everything you demonstrated) it makes a lot more sense.
I can absolutely see this thing being targeted to college kids who live in on-campus dorms with not enough room for a full blown oven. I'm so glad that you guys managed to do legitimate food experiments like these. Now I can spice up my on-campus experience with some actual cooked food! As an Italian guy myself I'm stunned by how legit that pizza looked (a true classic, not even the thin crust "modern original" one made in most Italian pizzerias), and it roasted everything else beautifully as well!
CDgonePotatoes so as an Italian guy your not annoyed that two chefs are using a rolling pin to make a pizza in a shap thats far from round, while the pizza cannotto style is very easy to learn. Not even mentioning the blump of dough that should have been a nice dough ball.

Yea, I was hoping to see a steak. Both just sear and fully cook. Obviously, you're not going to be putting a 2 in steak in there, but conceptually, I'm curious what a broiler/griddle/oven/steamer(?) combo would do for a steak.
Pretty amazing what you can do with this appliance and some know-how. I expect the novelty will wear off, but it provides a remarkably versatile tool for the kitchen-impaired apartment dweller, who may be struggling with a toaster oven...
Tim Lau I agree a toaster oven is a better multi-tasker, and I think cast iron is the best. I just think if Grammie chose this as a gift for her uni-bound grandson, he could probably get some mileage out of it.
Rob Hellfire It’s a novelty because it’s novel. I meant no disrespect. As James and Barry pointed out, it’s quick, but it’s functions can be replicated in conventional equipment, given time and skill.
Ready to love your toaster oven? There's a lot of words, but it'll be worth it. 2 - 2 1/2 cup flour 1/2 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt (oregano and parm to taste, about 1/2 T works) ~3/4 cup warm water 1/2 T bread yeast 1/2 - 1 T olive oil for coating Put the yeast in the water for a couple minutes before mixing it into the dry. Shouldn't have to knead too much, put the oil in a bowl at least twice the size of your dough ball and spin/toss the ball around in the bowl to coat it, put plastic wrap over top and let rise for at least a half hour, 2 hours is a good time. Should fit in a toaster oven, just need some pizza sauce and toppings. As high she'll go and check on it after 15 minutes.
Honestly, I'm more impressed that you guys figured out the timing so well on these. I mean there were a few where you put them back in, but for how much testing and fiddling you guys were doing throughout.. I'm shocked nothing came out drastically overdone with such short cook times.
I like that you guys used simple recipes to test the oven, would love to see you guys do more for an episode in the kitchen. An excited Ben is adorable xD
Impressed! But two important questions! 1) Does it heat up faster than an oven? Are you able to cut down on prep time as well as cook time? 2) Does it give off less heat than an oven? There are many summer days where I'd like to cook something in the oven, but it's just too hot to turn it on. Loved the video, James and Ben interacting on camera is always great
I've had that thing for half a year now and I'm loving it. There have been weeks when I made pizza margherita every other day just because it's so quick and easy.
2 things. 1. I am a wee bit in love with James. 2. I don't think you should compare it to an oven. You should compare it to a pre-heated pizza stone in an oven. I think you'd get similar results.
On today's episode, there is a new gadget in town. Will the sexy new pizza oven get between James's and Ben's bromance? Ben: I am really impressed with the results. James: I feel like a third wheel here.
I am actually happy that you guys showed something that was meant to be a unitasker CAN be used as a multitasking gadget! I would actually consider one now that I know it won't just do pizza! I am a person who hates unitasking kitchen things and well , this shows it's much more than a simple pizza oven now! Great job guys!
Im so glad they saw the potential of this gadget in the original video and didnt write it off as garbage and move on. They actually were willing to admit that it may not have been the gadget and look what we get now
This is.. extremely funny to see. I'm italian- i often meet up with friends for homemade pizzas, and we just round up the two-three of those ovens we have between us, to bake for us! To see someone ne so on the fence on them, is really funny. We love it, and it works amazingly!
I'll tellya guys, this thing has potential indeed. The speed/searing is far superior to oven cooking. Whether I'd go through the hassle of dragging it out of (limited) storage in my kitchen, cleaning it afterwards, etc. etc. which is ALWAYS the issue with stand-alone appliances like this, well...I dunno. But it sure looks better than I anticipated. I wonder about BAKING things in it--tarts, scones, whatever, for a crispy outside with moist inside due to the speed/heat? That'd be my next test if I were you. Breads, muffins, roles, etc. etc.
Oh wow, so this oven is actually REALLY useful, that's awesome. I'm glad it can do so much! I used to watch a lot of alton brown's good eats and I developed a similar idea to him... I hate unitaskers!
Normally I hate them too, but this thing does something nothing else in my kitchen can do--deliver amazingly crispy and delicious pizza (especially GF pizza, which blew my mind). It was cool seeing some of the other stuff it can do. Now I want to pick up a small cast iron... >.>
That's kinda like going into a pizzeria and complaining they have an oven designed specifically to cook pizzas haha. Its weird to just generally be opposed to "unitaskers" on principal. Toasters are a unitasker and one of the most popular kitchen appliances. This, like a toaster, isnt an obscure unitasker either. Pizza is the most popular food in the US so I imagine myself and many other Americans would gladly have something that only makes pizza. (This does much more but even if it only cooked pizza that would be ok)
@@brokenwave6125 I don't like toasters, because they're a single-purpose implement with a multi-purpose alternative that's quite common in America: the toaster oven. It does everything a toaster can do, but does a lot more as well.
How I feel about every kitchen item. You only need about a dozen kitchen utensils, cutting board, pots, pans, bowls, and knives to make anything your heart desires, but when I see new stuff I want it.
Fantastic. That pizza oven would be phenomenal in the summer when you don't want to heat up the whole house with the oven. Since homes usually only have a single over, it would also be great for nibbles when the oven is cooking a larger dish needing a longer and lower cook. Seeing all the other things you cooked in the pizza oven, now I really want one and see a lot more value in it.
As someone who has worked as a chef in Sweden. The second you cooked that damn fish I was impressed. I need one at home. Good for home parties and putting out small finger foods quickly.
Oh wow. This legitimately shows promise. It'd make a good gift for someone that knows how to cooks but is in a crappy living situation where no oven is available (tiny NYC closet apartment, dorm room, etc).
Great video, guys! Thank you for bringing back this entry from “Useless or Not: You Decide!” Can you clean the pizza stone part of the machine? It got charred during the first round of testing (cough...cough...BEN!) and I was wondering if that impacted subsequent cooking tests?
my mom bought this some time ago, and we sometimes have some family over and have everyone prepares their own pizzas. it works really quickly and the result is very good too. can recommend
Love it, been seeing these around but never thought that they were THIS good. Gotta say I'm super impressed, especially since our oven broke last year and I can't afford to buy a new one anytime soon. I also liked all the variety of tests you guys did, especially the fish was pretty crazy hehe but damn it turned out amazing. I'd love to see how this does with stuff like souffle, cookies, cakes, creme brulee, etc.

What a great vid. I was given one for christmas and I must admit I was unsure because how often will I cook Pizza? You have shown me that I can use it for most things I would do in the oven. I'm thrilled. Sending a link to my grandaughter who received one too. Thank's so much.
Hi guys. This video persuaded me to really stretch my budget and buy despite being barely able to afford it. I have dithered and dithered but what persuaded me was just how many other things I can cook on it (not scallops - anyhow, I'm vegan🤭). Spending my measley spondoolies on such things requires a lot of consideration so your video proved this is the gadget for me. I only have a small electric Caterlite oven but pre-heating it wastes electricity and we're all trying to help the environment. Plus I am a pensioner, living alone so I often can't justify pre-heating the oven to get it hot enough to cook or brown a dish; it seems so wasteful. So, THANK YOU. One question; what size is your square cast iron skillet, please? Have fun. Keep helping us to know if a gadget is worth having or is it just another thing to throw to the back of the cupboard/drawer Be safe🙏 Christine in Kingston upon Thames 👍

omg you are so right
didnt notice that before
thanks
When did he say that?

Idk why the little tail poking out made me laugh so much 😂
I've had that thing for half a year now and I'm loving it.
There have been weeks when I made pizza margherita every other day just because it's so quick and easy.
"I'm in full panic mode" - James, as calm as ever
Well, he _is_ a chef.
“Because I watched my first ever episode of Queer Eye last night... and I LOVED IT”. James is ALL OF US
I really like this format. Testing the hell out of gear, finding out what works and doesn't, feels super match to the DNA of why I subbed.
Lol The spider man 2 pizza theme plays in the background
THANK YOU! I noticed that as well!
SORTEDfood's 29 minute guarantee is a promise!
do you mean where they played Funiculi Funicula
. Thats the anthem of Naples.
*pizza time*
I know James is a tall boy, but his wingspan is downright massive.
stormbob the absolute size of this lad
It's to hug more people and spread more love!
Absolute unit
the absolute boss
CaCAW
2 things. 1. I am a wee bit in love with James.
2. I don't think you should compare it to an oven. You should compare it to a pre-heated pizza stone in an oven. I think you'd get similar results.
Chaya nah dude this one goes way hotter then any oven with a preheated pizza stone
A wee bit?!? 😲
On today's episode, there is a new gadget in town. Will the sexy new pizza oven get between James's and Ben's bromance?
Ben: I am really impressed with the results.
James: I feel like a third wheel here.
Kirsten Paff might actually be my favourite moment of this video😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Or is the pizza the true third wheel?
*pizza maker
I am actually happy that you guys showed something that was meant to be a unitasker CAN be used as a multitasking gadget! I would actually consider one now that I know it won't just do pizza! I am a person who hates unitasking kitchen things and well , this shows it's much more than a simple pizza oven now! Great job guys!
Can we do these type of videos more ??? It is just amazing !!!
Im so glad they saw the potential of this gadget in the original video and didnt write it off as garbage and move on. They actually were willing to admit that it may not have been the gadget and look what we get now
I have a feeling you lads just wanted to eat pizza today ;)
Haley.F. the truth has been spoken
Then why did they eat peppers, peaches, aubergine, mushrooms, scallops, shrimp and sea bass?
This was not an ad. But this is the first youtube ad that's ever worked on me. Amazing!
James’s level of confidence could feed an entire nation if it were edible
11:35. "Do you have a uniform?" I think, Ben is into something else. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ooOOOOOooo, aubergine roasted in minutes! THAT is interesting. So much can be made with roasted aubergines!!
I didn’t think I could love you guys any more, but you’ve been killing it with the videos this year. Keep it up! ❤️
James worrying about the fish's tail is so cute 🤣
This is.. extremely funny to see.
Breads, muffins, roles, etc. etc.
Im with you!!! That will be cool.
Its like watching two people who have never cooked before. Love it!
I love Ebbers but honestly, James made this video for me.
Interesting to see the oven doing other things and not just pizza though.
I’m binge watching ur videos... and i am loving you guys! Do more!
Three words
George Forman Grill
A absolutely amazing device
@@brokenwave6125 I don't like toasters, because they're a single-purpose implement with a multi-purpose alternative that's quite common in America: the toaster oven. It does everything a toaster can do, but does a lot more as well.
Nikolai Hedler and some models have a 450F+ pizza cooking mode which does as well as this pizza cooker
Duuuuuude. I want one now!
Homemade pizza in just like 5 minutes? YES PLEASE!
Do I have room for it? NO!
Do I need it? NO!
Do I want it? Hell YES!!!!!
This is EXACTLY our thought process!
I'd consider buying one if I had a bigger kitchen and a place to store it.
How I feel about every kitchen item. You only need about a dozen kitchen utensils, cutting board, pots, pans, bowls, and knives to make anything your heart desires, but when I see new stuff I want it.
Same here, but don't think they are available now.
Ice cream battle. For sure.
As someone who has worked as a chef in Sweden. The second you cooked that damn fish I was impressed. I need one at home. Good for home parties and putting out small finger foods quickly.
I have been waiting for this DESPERATELY!! This made my entire week and I haven't even watched the full video yet!
Ben and James should do every test ever. They are combo made on heaven.
Liked for James’ watching Queer Eye. 😂
Same here, almost the moment he said it.
Oh wow. This legitimately shows promise. It'd make a good gift for someone that knows how to cooks but is in a crappy living situation where no oven is available (tiny NYC closet apartment, dorm room, etc).
Honestly the editing is sooo on point. I love this editing style, whoever edits these videos, keem 'em.
I was part of some forum and at some point a ton of people bought a similar pizza oven. The vast majority was very happy with it.
iT'S REAAADYY
Bet that oven would be awesome at a party.
PLEASE DO A NUMBER 2! This was so fantastic to watch!!! I love how basic these dishes were and you guys just chefified them! Love you boys!!
I think them doing a Number Two is an entirely different video that might get them de-monetised! Lol
Thank you for the thorough review! Time to write down these recipes and put them in a new book! :D
The pizza oven actually works very well. It's great for small spaces. I wonder if you could bake in it.
Yay!! I was waiting for this review (and the Dad Joke of this week, of course) 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I snorted from laughing at that lil bit of fish tail sticking out 😂 I think I need some sleep
Great video, guys! Thank you for bringing back this entry from “Useless or Not: You Decide!”
Can you clean the pizza stone part of the machine? It got charred during the first round of testing (cough...cough...BEN!) and I was wondering if that impacted subsequent cooking tests?
Yep you can clean it! The pizza oven just gets scraped down. All the stuff that falls onto the stone shouldn't stick and is easy enough to scrape off!
mike, drop james' "it's readyyyy" on soundcloud already
YASSSSS, QUEEEENNNN!!!!
Shane Dawson's fan?
Mimi Ablan What are you talking about?
There's about a 100% chance that Barry loved this comment
Yaaasss Henniiee hahaha
my mom bought this some time ago, and we sometimes have some family over and have everyone prepares their own pizzas. it works really quickly and the result is very good too. can recommend
What is the recovery time? How long after taking a pizza out does it take for it to get hot enough to put another one in?
"Did it work? Who cares? Its a frozen pizza " I love Ben XD
Brutal, right?
SORTEDfood so savage XD
Love it, been seeing these around but never thought that they were THIS good. Gotta say I'm super impressed, especially since our oven broke last year and I can't afford to buy a new one anytime soon. I also liked all the variety of tests you guys did, especially the fish was pretty crazy hehe but damn it turned out amazing. I'd love to see how this does with stuff like souffle, cookies, cakes, creme brulee, etc.
I’ve been waiting for this.. only because James promised us 😍😍😍
Excellent poduct test video. Best options well covered. Manufacturer should thank you and reward you for this thorough testing. 😊
Wow I have never been this early to your Videos... Notification squad.... 2:39 James surely it can't be that hard to eat Pizza..LOL. Much love from Kenya.
What a great vid. I was given one for christmas and I must admit I was unsure because how often will I cook Pizza? You have shown me that I can use it for most things I would do in the oven. I'm thrilled. Sending a link to my grandaughter who received one too. Thank's so much.
It's READDYYYYYYY
When you want nothing more than to go to a James Dinner Party.
Have fun. Keep helping us to know if a gadget is worth having or is it just another thing to throw to the back of the cupboard/drawer
Be safe🙏
Christine in Kingston upon Thames 👍
OMFlippinG! This gadget is marvellous! Best pizza ever - and try sweetcorn on it - and scorched cherry tomatoes and..... so many ideas to try (not scallops ;) )
I'd love to see a steak in this just because it's crust would be divine and still rare
Ooooh very good shout!
Camp James is so great. Love him 😘
I'm so hungry now after watching this 🤤🤤
me too!!!! 🤤
I have been spam watching all the "James" episodes. Ugh, he's just too adorable! I'm enjoying catching up on so much missed content too!
I was hoping we’d get this vid! 😋
You ask, you get!!
Love how well you guys tested it this time. I wonder if this could work as a full out oven alternative for a tiny space. I'd love to see you try things like a bread, a cake, cookies, chicken, maybe even a soufflé
Had my doubts from the gadget episode. But I’m sold now.
we weren't sure after that burnt pizza but the pizza oven definitely proved it's purpose this week!
I like how nobody noticed that the background song is Funiculi Funicula which is also famous for being the Spiderman Pizza Time theme.
