    I've become addicted to these! I have to stay away from sugar due to 3 types of arthritis. Pure Maple Syrup is good for me with antioxidants. I add 2 cups of raisins, 1 cup of chopped pecans and 1 cup of chopped walnuts. After scooping them onto the baking sheet, I flatten them a bit. THANK YOU!!!!!

    Thank you so much for posting this! It is the cookie recipe I have been searching for. Every cookie recipe I have tried with a liquid sweetener turns out more like a pancake then a cookie. These are perfect cookies. I also made them with gluten free flour and flax eggs instead of eggs. They are still perfect with those substitutions

    Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes. I would ask why you call it sugar free when it should be refined sugar free(maple syrup is still "sugar")?

    • @pamelabagwell4190
      @pamelabagwell4190 Год назад

      I think they are probably just referring to white granulated sugar which is what most people think of as “sugar”. You are right, maple syrup is sugar but may be somewhat healthier since it retains some nutrients and minerals. And with the oats to provide fiber it hopefully levels out any potential blood sugar swings! These do look so good! I’m going to try them!

    The dough also freezes well. It’s just my husband and myself so I make a double batch and go ahead and drop the cookies onto a baking sheet then flash freeze them. Then we can take out what we want and have fresh baked cookies without all the work and mess.

    I do a similar recipe for oatmeal cookies but use some sugar and molasses I also soak the raisins in warm water for about 5 minutes before adding them. It really plumps them up and makes them much softer . (Drain off the water from the raisins)

    • @Mindy56743
      @Mindy56743 Год назад

      I found the soaking of the raisins a couple years ago when my raisins had dried out to hard chunks. I knew that raisins were dehydrated and thought to add water to see if it made a difference. That was the best oatmeal raisin cookies I had ever made. I now do it to all the batches I make and when I start the oven I will add the water to the raisins. It makes a huge difference in the texture of the cookies.

    Why can’t you use table syrup and only pure maple syrup? Is it a health concern or a quality of cookie concern? I want to use a keto maple-flavored syrup but don’t want to risk worse quality

    • @HeartwayFarms
      @HeartwayFarms  10 месяцев назад +1

      We don't use table syrup due to the concentration of high fructose corn syrup and corn sugar. Along with the other fake stuff in it. So for us it's simply control over the ingredients and knowing what is in it. Additionally, pure maple syrup just tasted better :-)

    If you are trying to just reduce refined sugar in your diet, this is fine, but for a diabetic, this is not sugar free. Maple syrup will still affect your blood sugar levels. Especially when it’s 1 1/2 cups. For diabetics, any sugar is a sugar no no.
