- Welcome back Yay Mathers! Dividing polynomials using synthetic division can be a beast, unless you know what you're doing. In that case, it's light and easy, like "asparagus", as one student put it. (Compared to the heavy "gravy" that is using long division.) The class is on today, it's a good one. YAY MATH!

why do you set it equal to zero, what is the theory behind talking the opposite constant? I have asked my teacher and she said just take it as face value.

what if the dividend has DIFFERENT variables just like
b^3 + x^3 + b^2 ???

Okay so b^2 divided by b^3 + x^3 because you don't have an x in what you're dividing into you can use b to divide into x so you use long division to divide b^2 by b^3 which gives you just b and it leaves you with the remainder of x^3/b^2. Easy enough now that it's explained, right? Yay math!

What if the bottom number is like 2x+3
I would suggest not doing those with synthetic division because fractions are harder to deal with
Factoring is your best bet, or regular long division.
I always skip the the first 2 minutes ._.
