I think they're close to each other, but the missions are a tiny bit more clinical and the dovedales more filling
In terms of this video - I've go to say, those 700's sound pretty impressive.

It’s very hard to tell. I feel like the Dovedales will feel bigger and maybe the less present midrange if because of the that effect on the recording of the video. The Missions are amazingly clear on the lower regions. Either one has a sound I would get used to in minutes.
What is your "reference speaker" you start each clip before comparing the two? That one sounds the best for me!
which other componenet you have? amp? strimmer?
Depends on music genre's, i think the wharfedale are better for slower tempo music, anything like rock, dance, hip hop etc i would go for the misson.
Plz do the compresence between Mission 770 vs 750 - when available
Source seems more closely matched to the 770s, but I think I like the Dovedale sound better.
Those Wharfedales could use a stronger amp to get them singing.
That is common for their Heritage line.
As if the 9000A doesnt have enough lol. Even the designer himself says the Dovedale are not a tricky load.
@@tomwebb7091 Then that would be a slight change for the line. Dentons and Lintons sound OK to 80-100 watts. But they truly sing 200 and more. More headroom is better.
@@stephenbailey9969 Ok lol. Youve never heard a 25w valve amp into 90db speakers with a 6ohm nominal and 4ohm-ish minimum. In a 5x5m room this equates to alot of volume. And the nature of valves means my Unison Research Triode 25 sounded FAR more dynamic and powerful than the 100w Yamaha AS3000 amp i sold. Ok, so imthe last iota of bass tightness and dryness has to be given up but its a tiny price to pay. Sure a 40w small A/B transistor amp is likely to have a small current...my Leak Stereo 130 for example. I also have an MF M2Si which is about 70w but more importantly has alot more juice in the power supp and thats what makes it sound powerful. Last but not least ive heard 8w 300B monos into 93db and not for one moment were we not rocking out to Porcupine Tree and Radiohead!!
@@tomwebb7091 Never have. I've had a number of integrateds over the years from NAD, Rega, Arcam. I finally settled on an Arcam as preamp with a 300 watt class D power amp from XTZ. My Wharfedale Dentons have never sounded better. Particularly in tightening the bass. My music is fusion jazz and symphonic, so some wide dynamic swings there.

pretty darn close. The missions sound a bit more open and mid forward. Mids from the wharfedale sound recessed in comparison. Bass is more filled out from the larger wharfedale but hard to judge by this recording.

Sounds like the Missions need a sub to fill in the bottom just a bit.
For me the Dovedale is more true to the soundclip and easier to listen to. Audiolab usually matches well with Wharfedale speakers and system matching is prob. key for the Missions.
this is like a retrospective trip for me as I used to work for Audio Excellence in the 80's - Audiolab, Mission and Wharfedale were the box shifters of the day - interesting that they all seems to carry the same characteristics and style I recall - Audiolab. Punchy. Misson. Bright. Wharfedale. Can't quite recall . Powerful? Probably the better sounding speaker for the money but their cabinets of old looked cheap. Glad to see they have upped their game. Who owns all these companies now I wonder?
They all fall under the IAG group together with Quad if i m not wrong. All these spks are designed by Peter Comeau

Very similar but the Wharfedale's would be my preference. Smaller Missions are much brighter ibln the top end. Potentially fatiguing to my ears.

In every aspect mission is superior speaker
Mission are most clear but these two speakers are not realistic enough to the classic music, i prefer my Victor SX-500 dolce speakers
