I'm a happy Linton user. Dovedales sound more clear and open though. But for the price I still would go for the Lintons.
Me too. I'm a linton owner too (walnut edition). Beautiful speaker.
The was the right way to do this demo! Congrats!
Dovedale has better definition on highs, lower distortion in general, but sounds more metallic. Clear winner on classical, and electronic music will benefit from that clearer sound. Maybe on jazz or rock the 5000€ difference is not required.
Linton's with stands cost $1800. Dovedale's with stands cost $7000. For that extra $5200, you get maybe 10% better sound. So Linton's win, hands down.
I agree. Depends what amplifier, cables and source do you use with them. Lintons remain a best buy of all times!
No, actually, with the larger cabinet design and the 10" driver, you're getting frequency responses, that aren't available with the Lintons. If you'd compare a speaker with exactly the same specs, you could argue, one sounds better and is even cheaper. With the Dovedales, you're getting 100% of something, the Lintons cannot sound like. To ask for 7k for this extra is another story.
Over Priced for the Difference in Speakers period , And Hey that's my opinion, was extremely interested until the Price was published? I have KLH 5s which Kill the Linton, Also JBL L100 Classic 75s which were 5k and at 7k for the Dovedales I Just Don't see the Value, don't get me Wrong, The Doves I would Love to own But not for 2k More than the JBLs, IMHO I believe the Doves are on Par with the JBLs with both having their own Strengths and Difference in Sounds.
KLH 7s are coming at 4k? Now I don't Think they will beat the Doves, BUT I'll bet some people will be Surprised at how good they Do Sound. I like to have at Least 2 Different pairs of Quality Speakers in the House just to keep things Fresh. That is why I can't see spending the Money for the Speakers I would Absolutely LOVE to own, The Spendor Classic 200s but Dang 23k is a bit Salty!!!!
Thanks for sharing~
I have heard two of these loudspeakers in the showroom , and I love Dovedale much more than the Linton.
But the Dovedale is 3-4X the price of the Linton. Goes to say you get what you pay for.
I could easily say Dovedale win all the way in this comparison. bigger soundstage, more engaging, better and faster bass respond but don't forget the price gap.
Отличный тест 👍🏻
Thank you
So if I’m hearing correctly I just need to adjust my treble to 1 or 2 to match the Dovedale’s????
I don't know which I prefer... Both beautifully laid back.
Dovedale is supposedly much more lively than Linton. Not sure about the treble though ... Linton might be more accurate,.
yes, the Dovedale sound better, one and a half times better, but the price for them is four times better
Exactly!!!
Not even. They are like 20% better
@@seaneckhart9914that's what he is trying to say I believe?
My opinion is that Wharfdale has made a huge mistake in the Value/Sound calculator!
But there are manufacturers of Mega Rediculous Monster Priced speakers that are in Dreamland on the Sound/Value calculator!
The Linton sounds warmer, more analog. Seems to be the better retro speaker.
I'm a Linton owner and a natural skeptic when it comes to overpriced audiophile gear. That said, I'd have to do some serious mental gymnastics to not hear that the Dovedale is a way more refined, complete sounding speaker. The Dovedale is far better, it's not even that close, it's not to say the Linton isn't amazing value, it is, I love mine, but if money were no object, you would be a fool to pick them over the Dovedale just based on this comparison.
It is difficult, basically impossible to evaluate anything through these RUclips----->bluetooth speaker setups, as I have.
However, the soundests for both speakers sounds beautiful and musically satisfying; with my setup, here.
If I could afford the Dovedales, I would acquire them. Hell, I would have both the Dovedales and the Lintons😊
For now, I have to go with the Lintons. For the price differential, they are still a wonderful speaker: compared to the Dovedales.
Linton for my taste !
Its warmer than Dovedale.
1st love it!
It's like a 10 years old and a 25 years scotch.you have to pay very much more but you will mostly don't regret. If it's worth to invest depends on your budget
Umpf and doff doff! Love it. Dovedal got a better mid and tweeter. You get what you pay for. Would like to see the crossover. Tweaker.
With the Linton's you get a lot more then you pay for!

That's an award winning comment 🏆👍
A-b would have made it a bit easier, but Damn those Dovedale s are bringing a smile to my face, just the price nzd$10500, make me want yo cry lol,
For me, the Dovedale wins, lot's of depth
Depends on the amp
@MasterofPlay7 I've got a Denon AVR-X4800H, with Wharfedale 4.4 speakers. They sound ok, but I would know how to compare them.
There both nice Speakers.
Any comparison to Mission 770 expected?
Yes - Might be in a few weeks. :-)
But so far: Tannoy Cheviot, JBL L100 75th, Mission 770 vs. Dovedale coming :-)
Dovedale has more detail, seperation and you can hear more scale. Winner by large margin. Gives the last bit of magic needed.
The Dovedale´s price is higher too
dovedale is a big improvement, not sure if to pay 3 times the price...
Any comparation to Elysian 4 expected?
Might be possible in the near future. I have a friend who has a pair of Elysian 2. So I guess that will be the first soundtest I will do :-)

Thank you
Listening through my mission MV-4 speakers its hard to judge .. I guess you would need to be there ...
Listening over the phones speaker, which is not quite up to the Linton/Doverdale standard, I have to agree on the principle you suggested...
Linton 👍🏻💪🏻
👍🥰👍
No se justifica para nada la diferencia de precio
Dovedale definitely.. but the cost ..😢
Un petit bijou de musicalité
not enough of a difference over the headphones to justify the big difference in price...
Again, you need to spend more time explaining the differences between the speakers at the end of the video. It would make it more interesting for the viewer. Fidelity not very good in the played music, on my end. It's also a better idea to compare speakers that are at the same price point. Few people would argue that the Dovedales are better.
I really don't like the waviness along the edges of the Dovedale grilles. I also don't think the stands match the speaker very well aesthetically. The look like prototypes.
Which is which?
Dovedale are extremely good speaker better than Linton, but unfortunately way way overpriced...second hand maybe but not new.
If you're going to do these tests get microphones and record in stereo. This is useless
It is recorded with a stereo microphone.
@@Audiophilesdoteu it doesn't sound like it at all!
Dovedale amazing
