- We had a breif interview with Peter Comaeu at the High Munich Show 2023 telling about the differences between the Wharfedale Linton 85th and the Dovedale 90th.
I would love to buy the dovdales but like everyone I just can’t justify the price.
The playback volume on this video is way too low. Fix It!
This might be a better performing speaker than Linton but as others suggested the difference does not warrant 4x price hike. Peter always does this sort of speak, when Linton’s were released they were “unmatched, with technologies and sophistications way beyond its competition”, only to be talked down by Peter against the Dovedale which is the again the new king of the castle at this very moment and at the time being
I’d bet both the tweeter and the midrange drivers are pretty much the same, with a little bigger chamber at the back.
Made in UK only goes so far, Lintons which are made in China set the new standard in quality speaker build years ago.
I would have to agree!
Exactly, both are kevlar and the tweeter is almost the same! only a bit of absorption at the back, they say. Criminally overpriced. I put better damping to the Linton and better components to the crossover and you have quasiment the Dovedale.
audio channel without proper sounding material seems so weird..
At four times the price I'll settle on the Lintons for now. Also I suspect that the price will come down in time for the Dovetails.
Yeah 4 times the price and almost twice as good. I too am buying the Lintons...
Owning the lintons and absolutely loving them, like really love them, if I had the money I’d absolutely give the doves a crack. On my wish list.
Pricing is all wrong, £5500 is a lot, I'd struggle to just half that
Can you confirm or deny if the treble and midrange are the same units as the Linton. ?
There are several who claim this and there is simply a larger back chamber behind units at Dovedale.
Nice speaker but not at 4x the price.. they should have make it where the Linton was made. then it would only cost 50-65% more than the Linton & sell like Hotcakes !! :)
Linton is China, these UK
At first I thought my speakers had shut off. I had to crank it way up just to hear you, then turn it down when you cut in the clip. I then just settled for closed captioning. When the next video came on, I nearly pissed myself. My poor dog just up and left the room.
With owning a pair of the Lintons for a few years now, I am very intrigued to hear any comparisons to the Dovedale. If it can actually dig into the 20's, midrange stay right with the Lintons, and produce a little more sibilance then it may be worth looking into...during a sale, of course. That price seems unnecessary.
I agree. As this person learns to do RUclips videos, he should monitor his sound levels before posting.
I would say the price are the HUGHEST difference,, 🥶🤪😅
I agree
Just Greedy..... Let see if survive the competency as B&W
@@elbebe1000You’re the greedy one wanting something for less than what it costs to produce, market and manufacture in the UK.
For this price, perhaps we should see an "Airdale" standmount? Curve speakers cannot be seen nowadays...
random questions, do vinyls fit under the Dovedale speaker in the stand (as they do in the Linton)? Thank you for your time!
Hi Silvio,
Sorry for the late reply. No, they are unfortunately not as tall as the Linton's, because that would mean that the tweeter wouldn't be in the perfect ear height :-)
@@hifi-freaks thanks for the reply! Def fair observation 😌
-can you also explain the difference between Wharfedale Dovedale vs INFINITY . Is it the IRS Epsilon or Sigma you have? Do I remember correctly if one of these has a 12" woofer which is servo controlled?
...and substantially more expensive! With all of the wonderful things this speaker may be, it's lost before it started with me, due to the price. The Linton is awesome for it's price. I don't doubt the Dovedale is better, but enough to justify that kind of cost?....I think Wharfedale is being greedy...good luck. The sales will determine that ultimately, but I suspect they will be discounted sooner than they anticipated.
They're made in the UK. The Lintons aren't. I have the Lintons and love them.
@@goonerinSPthat means very little in 2024. Build quality out of China has been fantastic across a wide range of products.
@@HaamRadio54 Maybe but I was simply replying as to why the Dovedale are more expensive.
They should make a speaker that sits in between these 2 seems like a big jump from lintons to dovedale
But that’s audio for you. Diminishing returns. A LOT more money for incremental improvements. Yes you can hear the difference, but! That’s why the Lintons sell so well. They are very very good in performance and looks for the price. To people that don’t know audio they are expensive but to those that do they are an absolute bargain. Every now and then they just hit all the right tones at the right time. No pun intended. 😂
That doggy though ❤
But what do they sound like?
Some volume would help. . . You'd think a hifi channel would have this part of a video always sorted.
Fix your volume levels, man.
Really poor audio, way too low...
My dream speakers!
It is not possible to hear such a low audio level of speech. Before publishing you should optimize the audio, please...
Thanks for making my feel like shit about the Lintons.
this old dude lol 😂 sweet Linton is a bargin , being expensive the dove should have a monster 6in mid lol😊 hi everyone 😂
He makes the Lintons sound like inferior speakers with that presentation, and not worth buying. Most manufacturers would emphasize the qualities of both without trashing the more economical unit.
for an audio review your audio is poop unfortunately - crank it up 🙂
Overpriced
My ears go down to my pockets....
Send the manufacturing to china so we can afford them ?
Ali Express is full of these type of speakers considerably cheaper.... £1250 or half that
I had Lintons, their sound was very bad..I sold it very weak
did you ever heard the denton 85, i have this speaker now thinking to upgrade to linton
I've never heard Denton, but I had Linton and replaced it with Monitor Audio Golds, they sound very nice@@alrasekhoon1
What did you not like about them? Out of interest?
Linton wins in all aspects to me.
