The more I play these speakers the more I absolutely love them!!!..
They hit me every time with warm involving complete sound. Deep into my chest..You can thump these out and they hold on perfectly.
    The lows are fantastic too..
Just such a lovely sound to these..
    Nothing out does the other..
    The balance is beautiful.
I've powered mine with Roksan Blak amp.
    150 Watts per channel.
I love coming home to them .
    Nice review.

Dire Straits were the go-to tracks at audio shops in the mid 80s. It showed off CD, and I remember Missions Electronics loudspeakers as the “better stuff” vs the mainstream brands.

Purchased my Mission 770's February 2023 along with a Yamaha A-S1200 Amplifier. Felt like they both broke in a couple of months ago. I agree 100% with Kevin's assessment. Plus, you get the separation and 3D imagining of a live performance on most recordings. Not unlike other high end speakers, input equates to output. The real quality of the recording is revealed. Good, bad or in the middle, you get the honest reproduction. I'm sure the amp has a lot to do with it as well. It's the combination that I was exactly looking for.

I have exactly same combo, Yamaha as 1200 & Missions 770. It's been two weeks with Missions. I like them with Yamaha. But feel still not 100% settled together. What changed soundwise with time?
Also which DAC are you using? I'm using chord mojo 2.

    • @philipciantar4824
      @philipciantar4824 8 месяцев назад +1

No DAC. Only Rotel CD14MKII CD Player and Dual CS618Q Turntable. You will need about 200 hours for break-in. Speakers will then play better at low volume and give you more 3D live like sound. Bass is improved and tweeter more rounded out. The whole speaker gets better range and detail.

@@philipciantar4824 yeah, I'm hardly 20hrs in. As of now, the bass is bloated with some music. Rock music already sounds good. Jazz and vocals need refinement/coherence for sure. Micro details are bit scattered. Also my speaker cables needs upgrade. Let's see 🤞 .. Are you planning any upgrades?
      Thanks for responding, cheers 👍

people like you Kevin, because you're a likeable guy. i live in the UK, so its kind of impractical to come over, but its on my bucket list. old fashion service. NO BS and its the way it should be done.
We have little villages all over the UK. perhaps with a thousand people, or less living there. not a mall, or supermarket to be seen. you might have a pub, a post office, a church and a small convenience store and thats it. even though are a big store, it still has that local, small feel. love it.

It´s like a time machine watching this. In my youth in the UK Mission were the more affordable but still high quality speakers to have, mine were paired with a Rotel amp, Sony CD player and NAD 5120 turntable with the flat arm. Dire Straits and Ultravox got the most play back then and sounded fantastic. In honour of this video and sending lots of healing energy your way for complete success for your knee replacement I think tonight my vinyl rip in 24bit Telegraph road will get a good listen to!

Farad and Henry Azima designed the speaker. Henry was the engineer and Farad was the marketing genius. How do I know? I worked for the brothers when I lived in the UK. I also represented Mission as their UK / US executive. I probably met you! Great review.

These are 6500 before tax here in Canada. They are very nice indeed! Think I'll stick with my Tannoys for a while longer which is perfectly fine with me. However, I would love to hear these with tubes!!

That’s why most vintage 770s are all gone. They were plentiful and for cheap prior to the resurrection and steep new price.

I'm surprised so many find that speaker so special. If the crossover is at 2.8KHz since the mid bass driver (or really its just a woofer) is so, big its off axis response is going to dip well below 2KHz before the tweeter takes over, there will be a considerable hole in the response off axis just below the crossover. I'm sure the bass will be good thou. The cabinet is just a typical v bent mdf or particleboard veneered cabinet, with some bracing and a forward firing plastic molded flared port probably tuned at around 40Hz. The drivers appear to be of reasonable quality, but nothing special.

I love these. They are beautiful and simple, but the price is so high. A pair of Paradigm Founders 100f floor standers are all of $600 more. There are just too many options at this price point to consider these “the best choice”. Man, they tick all the boxes for me except price.

The 770 is a good example of why we need local dealers. At $5K, it’s not a great perceived value, but each audiophile should decide for themself based on actually listening to the speaker. Also, for those. Who wouldn’t buy a MoFi Source Point 10 because it’s made in China, here is a made in the UK alternative for 25% more.
And Kevin, good luck with the knee replacement, I’m trying to delay the same for as long as I can.

I hear 'ya Louis but you know why brick & mortar audio is dead. In my tiny state, in one small city, there are 2 dealers. They are only here because it's as close to Boston without being in MA with high rent, excise and sales taxes. I don't think there is one product under $5000 & I think that's for 5 feet of speaker cable.

This is the big problem with the Mission 770 speakers the crazy and unfair price $7,299.99AUD, while I'm sure the sound is ok, Its way overpriced for one cheap basic v bent vented box 2 way bookshelf, with an oversized bass driver. They are worth about $700 with stands. Its all about the money, not the sound quality. I will organize a listen with the hi-fi shop, and bring in my speakers I made to compare. In the near future, I will we releasing my designs for free of course, to combat this greed in the hi-fi industry. What "they" do is stumble on to a winner and then jack up the price too buggery, and of course "they" will have u believe the sky is falling, and that is why its sound so good..and why u have pay your're life savings, for a bit of sound gear.
