Thanks, Gabi, a terrific review. In particular I appreciated your description of inital (out-of-the-box) hearing and how it sounded before a little burn-in and how little time it took to "fall into place". Equipment matching is sometimes a significant factor, so getting your perspective on this element was very interesting. I got on board the "vintage" look train with a pair of KLH Model 5's (keeping the covers on with 2 large dogs). Adele and Billie Eilish both give me that detailed sound of the voice (and breathing) you described and as a listener of detail it's really amazing. (I also appreciate the minimal audio jargon).

Such an awesome review! This is the first video I’m seeing of your channel and I love so much about it. I’m looking to upgrade from Dynaudio Emit M20 to the Lintons but feel I will miss the intricate details of high quality Recordings. Unfortunately can’t really audition either in Adelaide. This video helps with my purchase decision. Keep up the great work! 😊

Thank you for the personal review. There's much to be said comparing these 770's to Lintons with regard to performance to price point. I've always drooled over these 770's, but you're not the first person I've seen reviewing these against the more economical Lintons.

Thanks Gabi, for taking on the 'big question' for Linton owners. You've assuaged my FOMO, for now! Just one question... you didn't say much about the imaging. Given the similar big-box standmount configuration to the Lintons, my expectation is that they should be similar to the often-startling imaging of the Lintons. Lintons on well-recorded material (eg. modern Blue Note and Chesky recordings) image like demons. So the 770s... yes? No?

I love the looks of those mission models, had a set of mission 707s that were built well and cast drivers and vifa tweeters and were very smooth and musical, I love the white for nts and writing it on the front, they look really sharp and unique. The 762i might have been one of my favorites I'd heard from mission, but then again I liked the 707 equally tonally speaking but gave a little low end up to the 762i.

Thanks for the review. I heard some clips of the Mission’s and they sounded pretty crisp. I have the Linton’s and some Klipsch Heresy IV’s. Opposite ends of the spectrum much like how I would imagine the Mission’s would be compared with the Linton’s. If I didn’t have the Heresy’s I might consider them but I find between the Linton’s and the Heresy’s I can cover pretty much everything I want based on the recording I am playing and if I want more of an on the stage dynamic that the Heresy’s bring or sitting a few rows out in the auditorium feel that the Linton’s have. Either way we’re spoiled for choices these days.

For young people: when polypropylene (heavier than paper) mid-woofers appeared, solid state or Naim was the law. That's why Hegel is more suitable... Now Mission has achieved (with new materials, the possibility of almost unlimited simulations, etc.) coherence between the retro presentation of music as a whole and the modern stratification into high, medium and low levels and that for a very decent (not small, inflationary) price. So much for that. Cheers in Australia!

@rosewoodsteel6656 - I have heard the same demo from "Just Audio" and listen to all as well and my thoughts were the same as yours until I heard them in person. @rosewoodsteel6656 Год назад +1

@@allenwilliams8962 My guess is that placing a mic in front of a speaker eliminates the room ambience and characteristics. And, as we all know, speaker placement is critical for getting the best out of a system. There are just so many variables. Were the Linton's better placed than the Model 5's when you auditioned them? Was the amp a better match for the Linton's? Were the tone controls tweeked for the optimum performance of each type of speaker? Is there a greater profit margin for "Just Audio", in selling a set of Linton's...? I'll have to do some more research to narrow down the field some more and then find a good place to audition them. Another speaker that sounded great to me (in a comparison with the Model 5's) is the Sonus faber Lumina V's. The Sonus are more expensive, but sounded amazing in comparison sound clips. I like clarity and sweet tonal definition in a speaker. The "wall of sound" thing isn't my cup of tea. :)

WRONG - if you liked disco then these were the speakers for you - if you wanted warm and rich - and dare I say it deep rolling bass - Tannoy if you please - I used to sell Hi-Fi in the 80's - also they were cheap - these new ones are up there price wise with an awful lot of competition

Can they take any power? It's hard to believe that an 8" inch woofer could move anywhere close to the same amount of air as the 12" JBL. People don't want something that's going to "break up" when you put the power to them. Do these "break up"? For $5,000.00 they should mean clarity at high volumes too.
