Boise, Idaho - On July 26, 2023, after 10:00 p.m., 28-year-old Macey Juker placed a 911 call to dispatch showing signs of mental illness and stating he had an assault rifle. Dispatch could hear shots being fired over the phone. Law enforcement and residents also heard the firearm in the neighborhood of the 600 block of N. 19th street in Boise, a populated residential area. Law enforcement officers arrived at this location to find Juker with an assault rifle. Juker initially put the weapon down and complied with law enforcement orders. He then retrieved the weapon and ran from officers, before turning to aim the weapon back at the officers. As Juker aimed the weapon at officers, the officers and Juker opened fire. After being hit, Juker went to the ground. He then raised the rifle and fired additional rounds at the officers. Officers returned fire and Juker was hit and succumbed to his wounds. A loaded AK-47 style semi-automatic rifle was recovered at the scene.

I feel like this particular one had more to it. The guy called 911 to lure the cops there, like an ambush. He started the shooting while on the phone, making sure lots of cops showed up. And he kept shooting even after he went down. He chose that. I feel like he was after some revenge or something. He could have killed innocent people and cops. If it was only himself he wanted to hurt, he just needed to point that gun, not even shoot it, and the officers would have opened fire. But he did shoot at them and kept shooting until the very end. That is different than just wanting to take yourself out. Mentally ill and on drugs or not, it takes an evil intention to do it that way. I agree, being a cop these days is the toughest job on the planet. Especially in the US where violence is a daily thing everywhere you go.

i know discharge of a firearm is illegal but i wonder, if you know the situation would naturally de-escalate with time, to delay the response such that intoxicated people are less intoxicated and more likely to be asleep. By all means, protect those who stand to suffer, only perhaps discern those situations where a very delayed response would be more effective, such as those where drunk people call themselves in.

For those who think the police could’ve put him in custody because his rifle was on the ground. If you look closely at the final bodycam you can see it was at arm length easy to grab.. so walking towards him would put the officer in the line of backup fire and would put himself at risk.. that’s why they said walk towards me (in the first bodycam clearly audible) . But no that was not the perp’s plan…..

    • @-D-W
      @-D-W 28 дней назад +1

I disagree. From what I saw, it looks like the perp grabs the rifle off of the trunk of the silver sedan, at 3:18. Officer Fiddler appeared to have been in prime position, to have easily gone over and secured that weapon.
