Where Impressions of Nature began....

In 2004 I started using printmaking and casting techniques to capture the intricate beauty of plants around us. I also draw or paint most days and have done all my life, however in January 2023 I broke my wrist which meant I couldn’t draw….😲
So I decided to concentrate on one of the only things I could still do, Monoprinting where a single image is taken from the ink coated plant. I began printing as many of the plants around me as I could to create a sort of nature journal or herbarium, it has been a springboard for research, which I have loved. I have discovered so many new plants and their historical uses and symbolic meanings, best of all I have deepened my understanding and knowledge of the delicately balanced ecosystem in which I live.
