- Known for his signature style of spontaneous drawing and printmaking techniques, Syrian artist Kevork Mourad was invited by Arts Transcending Borders and the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery at the College of the Holy Cross to create the site-specific installation "Memory Gates" during a ten-day residency in Spring 2021. The work, imagined as a series of doors and passageways that visitors can pass through, explores themes of cultural plurality and collective memory. Amazing how he taught his audience this technique in 10 minutes. I also appreciated that he was clear about how it's fine to improvise with the tools. Art supplies are expensive, so it's a valuable piece of advice to show how to improvise. Thank you!
He is that kind of person, that only talks to you 10 minutes, but it is long enough time to make you realize that he is a really nice and humble human being! Thank you for the inspiration my friend! :)
I realized it after seconds 🙂
Wonderful presentation
Warm free spirit
Wonderful to see an artist draw with such looseness and confidence! Thank you for the demonstration!
That's a lot of talent in the effortless strokes.
I'm not even sure how I came across this video, but Wow, how lucky am I to have found you!! I have never tried this technique but now I will. Thank you for sharing! 😊🌺
Kevork is a terrific artist and I thank him for sharing his information. Kevork's technique can also be used with a gel printing plate instead of painting on a sheet of glass or plexiglass. If you want to make your own gel printing plate there are several videos of recipes and instructions available on You Tube. I use both the commercially made plates and home made plates. You can save money by making your own gel printing plate. If you use the glass or plexiglass sheets that is also great.
This frantic but sculptural and precise way of mono printing is quite a sight, it’s like the closest you can get in print making and painting to a Giacometti sculpture. I know what it’s like to race with acrylic paint, great stuff.
Such a humle, warm hearted man, and proffessional too. Thank you so much for sharing this with us 💝
What a great and humble artist ...

Beautifull
You are so talented
Super simple plutôt spontanée je vais essayer merci beaucoup 👌🇨🇵
Fun! Thank you
This is really wonderful and inspiring for me because I am the type of person that works this way as well like quickly and deliberately. I am curious to see the tool that he made for himself and what would be the criteria or some thing for delicate lines, he said, so I guess I can get a general idea.
Interesting and inspiring
V v cool. I like this guy!
The secret is the quality of the medium and the paper.
Wonderful technique and result! May I ask with that equally wonderful music is that you have playing in the background..?.
Wonderful
amazing
simple short clear to the point presentation, sir
a few words re acetate sheet would be helpful
Thank you so much for this demo. So this is using a simple piece of vinyl? I guess I didn’t actually need the Gelli plate I bought.
I love your printing method. Thanks for sharing it. I love your music. What is the name of the music
Hello Kevork! Thank you for your art. I have a question: what is the translucent support you are working with? Acetate or glass?
Great technique. What is the transparent material? I thought it was glass but it flexes so is it celluloid film or something? And it’s resting on a white sheet of paper?
Hiya can not pick up what you are using the stuff in the white bottle & where to you get it from . Thanks liked your work peter scotland thanks
Love the background music. Anybody know what it is?
Love the technique and your results. Beautiful! Question: Is your plate glass or plexiglass?
Exactly what I’m wondering.
Me too! I think he may be working on acetate type of surface also? It looks very thin.
Hi! At the end, you have the list of the material. It's acetate sheet. But I'm sure glass or Plexiglas or any other similar surface will work just as well.
👏
what is the ground?
A genius idea ! for a beginner painter
Like me...😁
Is it an acrylic or glass board you are working on please?
Lovely music, what is it called?
Nice hand.
😂 AMEZING|||||||||||||||
Alexa, how is it possible to be totally in love with someone after only one minute?
Dommage le texte cache le plus important.
It's wonderful when the church supports artists who have no serious drawing skills.
Monotypes can be done more skillfully , not just by going the easy way monotype , where you just erase from a big block . Painting portraits , whole scenes , and etc. is possible and can be printed by hand . I can .

I guess this is his style , but the paint dryed out and literally just didn't print . Acrilics dry faster , dude .
The clear that he put down FIRST a retarder and THEN acrylic...dude.
Interesting technique. Terrible and distracting music!
