      It was the same with me just a few months ago. I watched videos of professional printers because I was thinking about getting a press. As obviously no one had tried etching inks on the Gelli Plate before, I thought I’d give it a try. That also led to building up my channel. Now I am usually slightly disappointed when I use acrylics…have fun trying it! 🙏🏽🙋🏻‍♀🎨

    Your technique creates such marvelous prints! I would love to see how you developed them further. Also I have some questions 1) does this work with acrylics? 2) Does the etching ink damage the Gelli Plate? How do you clean it? Thanks for a great video!

    • @tinasart5720
      @tinasart5720  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much! obviously you found the second part of that video? This absolutely works with acrylics, but I find that the etching inks give me much more interesting structures that inspire me to develop further. I have new videos out where I try the Golden Open acrylics, which are ultra fine and slow drying, so you can work with them similarly than with the etching inks and are not as messy. You don’t need pick up colors with them, as you have a very long time until you print them. The etching inks do not damage the Gel plate, the Akua (soy based) you can clean up with soap and water, the oil based (Charbonnel and all others) you can get off with any vegetable oil. and then clean the oil off with soap or baby wipes. Have fun trying it! Cheers from Berlin, Tina 🙏🏽🙋🏻‍♀️🎨🌸

    • @tinasart5720
      @tinasart5720  5 месяцев назад

      sorry for getting back so late...thanks for the music compliment! The inks give me (most times) more interesting patterns and structures/ shapes, and are therefore more inspiring for me when I work them out. They are messy to work with, but give much more details as to their very fine pigmentation... I made quite a few videos where I compare them to acrylics...🙏🏼🙋🏻‍♀️🎨

    • @tinasart5720
      @tinasart5720  5 месяцев назад

      well you can compare the paints as I do all the time, if you purchase maybe one tube of etching ink first. The etching ink gives a much finer print as it is so highly pigmented. Among the Acrylics, I find that the Golden Open slow-drying paint does the best job - it takes long to dry, so you don't have the acrylics dry on you so fast, and it is also very high pigmented. I love them all, but the etching ink gives me unexpected effects usually that I need for being inspired to work the prints out more. These effects can be similarly achieved with acrylics and deli paper (pick up paper) though. Thank you!🙏🏼🎨

    Hi Tina- lovely!!
    Why etching ink ( as opposed to ordinary ink)??
    And do you let the paper dry on the plate before removing or not?
    Thank you x

    • @tinasart5720
      @tinasart5720  Месяц назад

      To answer that, you'd have to watch more of my other videos. I print with etching inks more than with regular acrylics, because the ink gives me much more details. I also made videos comparing the two, for example:
      ruclips.net/video/aI4KvDR4m3s/видео.html
      and:
      ruclips.net/video/n_qUifbKay4/видео.html
      When you use etching ink, it never dries while the paper is on the gel plate, it is a paint that does not dry by air, but by being absorbed by the paper. So you don't have to wait to pick up. Afterwards, it is good to let it dry for one day or so, before you can draw on it. And don't make the layer too thick, then it takes much longer to dry...thank you! 🙏🏼🙋🏻‍♀️🎨

      Actually I don't use the Aqua Wash at all. I use the oil based, and it is no problem with the gel plate, you can get everything off with other oils. I use vegetable oils for that. hey Jaqui, thank you so much 🙏🏽! Etching ink is always a little messy, but it comes off the Gelli Plate and other tools best with a little linseed oil, I think any oil will do. Afterwards I clean the oil off with a baby wipe, so that I don’t have it on the Gel Plate, which would make a resist. Akua etching ink is soy based, and comes off much more easily.
