I appreciate the honesty here and presenting the issues as more personal. I'm at 9 months of ownership on my 22 GT DCT. Some things I love, some things I don't care for. But I will say if you know what to expect from this car, you understand what it is and what it isn't, you'll love it. I got a killer deal on it (no markup) my local Honda dealer wanted WAY more for a new Civic SI. Also, you'll enjoy the car a lot more if you swap the tires out from the factory Kumho all seasons.
@@carlangas991 If I remember correctly it was just over 27k. Got it with the GT2 package. So pretty much I paid MSRP. Put a decent down payment (few grand) and my monthly payment is a bit under $300.00. Purchased in upstate NY.
the fact that youre complaining about insurance being 3000 a year with a 4dr sedan then you ramble about getting a corvette or mustang doesn't make any sense
being young and having to insure your car sucks its always going to be expensive. i just turned 32 and my rates for my car are finally starting to go down also taking driving classes like defensive classes can bring down your insurance rates if you can get them a certificate from a authorized driving school.
Different strokes for different folks, I love my 2021 GT Manual(Exactly one year of ownership today.) The only issue I've had is the adhesive under the lip spoiler has expanded out from underneath it, no doubt in my mind that it was due to some very hot days the past July as I found the problem right after the hottest week when I was washing her. I have an appointment to get that sorted out this weekend though.
Got that exact car. Took her cross country to move and it was a dream the whole way. Moved somewhere that gets that hot in the summers too, we'll see how it goes next year haha.
@@Dabal_R I'm in the US. All three of the trims I listed are powered by the 1.6 Gamma T-GDI (G4FJ) engine which has 201 hp and 195 lbf-ft of torque. I have a GT Manual. The GT-Line is an available trim, it has most of the cosmetics from the GTs but has the 2.0L engine and CVT transmission.
I believe that's correct , when you are the new owner. You get a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on the car. But then when you sell it, the 2 owner or 3 owner will get a five year 60,k mile warranty on it
Got two test drive this model car today this car is quick and fun to drive the seat's are not comfortable road noise is very noticeable and ride quality isn't great so I bought the bigger brother K5 GT Line very pleased with that purchase
I had a Mazda2 hatchback and I just got a 2023 Forte like 2 weeks ago, I love it so much, and had enough saved up that I'm only going to have to pay off 7k in financing
When I got the call for this car and I drove it's manual trans I took it home. Very fun. UT the 1st gear to me. Is slow on launch. Just me. I haven't drove manually since 2016 I am novice
Pointing out flaws of a vehicle is not hating on it. I could point out 20 flaws on my ctsv. I still love the car at the end of the day. I could point out flaws on my dream car the dodge viper yet if still love too own one
I have a 2011 Forte SX 5 Door that I bought new.The car is triple black with leather and sunroof . The 6 spd auto still shifts smoothly. That 2.4 173 hp engine has plenty of power. I still enjoy driving it.
I recently got a 2021 Kia Forte Top of the line GT and it’s amazing it feels sporty without feeling like you’re going to splash yourself against something and the interior looks identical to the 2023 version
You don’t like the engine. Which is pretty reliable at this point as it’s in many Kia and Hyundais and has been updated. It makes GOOD power compared to like 95% of cars sold at its price point. But you like the DCT that’s clunky, not that quick to shift and sucks at slow speeds. So you got rid of it because you cant have it for “free” and you can’t afford the insurance. But then talk about a corvette. Lol get your priorities straight. This is like being able to live rent free at a house then being told the owner switched and that new owner told you that you gotta pay up, but you can’t cause you’re broke as shit. So you say this house sucks anyways. It didn’t suck when it was free tho.
So now that you actually have to pay for it, you don't want to keep it. Man up, pay for it and keep it. It's a nice car. I have the same one, 2021, gray DCT. I love that DCT.
I would rather pay for a car I enjoy more. No need too "man" up too pay for somthing I don't enjoy enough. Would much prefer a corvette for 10k less. I enjoyed the DCT as well.
I had a 2020 Forte GT. I had an issue with the steering column twice. Some of your complaints were the ones I had as well but nothing major. The turbo versions of these tend to have issues after 50k miles if you don't have an oil catch can installed. I just decided to sell it back to dealership while I could still get a good amount of money for it. I have a work vehicle and an older truck so it was time for the Kia to go.
So you did what a lot of employees do. Buy it at below MSRP, wait for car prices to keep going up on a used car and sell it for profit. Too bad used car prices have started lowering for you but at least you got it of it while you could.
I bought my wife a 2022 kia forte gt 2 back in the pandemic "😉" because it was the only car I could find. Now let me start by saying I've owned over 50 vehicles from 64 impalas to fully loaded Cadillac Escalades. When I purchased this car the plan was to only own it for a short time because my truck I had on order had not come in (GMC Sierra At4) and my wife's Acadia Denali was in the shop for a thermostat. We'll let me just say it's 2 years later and my wife loves this little car. Don't let this video scare you away from owning one.
im going on a year of having it and i have zero complaints i do miss having a bigger car but thats not the cars fault at all ive driven cross country twice in it and its been nothing but great
I love driving it but I'm a newbie at the manual transmission. I haven't had a stick since 2016 my ek civic b18c so I have to get to know my new transmission and the turbo etc 🙃
I really wish they would have made a higher performance version of Forte GT w/ the Elantra N engine and upgraded wet dual clutch. It would have made a great sleeper.
Makes title and thumbnail that indicates issues with the car. Then proceeds to say he's selling it because he doesn't get it for essentially free now and insurance is ~$150 a month. But everything else is great. What the fuck is this clickbait shit?
I did not say everything else is great. The lack of sound insulation is absolutely terrible. My taillights are filled with water with no miles on it. The seats suck on road trips. The suspension is far too harsh. Worried about it blowing up when the warranty ends. I was so not a fan of it that I had no interest in owning it without a benefit was the whole point in the video.
the paint quality is amazing, I have a 2019 Forte with no issues. Road noise is competitive for the class, in fact I would say it's one of the quietest car in the class. The Forte has underbody sound insulation panels that other cars like the Corolla or the Nissan kicks don't/ I hate that you are defaming a great car cause your expectaions are crazy for the class of car. Want a quite compact ? buy a 3 series. Don't be ridiculous.
The insulation hanging from the bottem of the entire underside of mine begs too differ about any sound. I joined just about every forte group. Everyone complained about the extremely easy too scratch paint. I'm not defaming the car. I'm starting the actual things I experienced. I actually did just buy a 3 series last week
My 2021 GT is the nicest car I have ever owned, and I’m 50 so I have owned many different cars. It offers 80s super car performance in a 4 door sedan. This generation has no idea how lucky they are. It accelerates as quickly as my dad’s old grand national and handles 10x better and I can fit my kid and dog in the back without issue
I’ve owned my Kia Cerato GT…(Australian name for forte GT) for 2years, best car I’ve owned. It’s got power, comfort and excellent safety features…..I like it so much I’ve just ordered a new one, giving the older one to my daughter. So you’re selling a perfectly good car for a second hand car that someone else has driven it to death. 20 years old you still have a lot to learn…
I also own a gt. I'm surprised that no one talks about the steering above 70mph... It's overly sensitive. Very hard to make small corrections. It doesn't even look like I've moved the steering wheel at all and it will veer over. Going over bumps on the highway or correcting wind draft from a larger vehicle when passing them in an adjacent lane. Making those corrections is something I find rather challenging to do smoothly. Has anyone else noticed this? I have driven many cars over my 33 years and this is hands down the most sensitive steering above 70mph that I've encountered.
I had a Veloster DCT. This transmission never gave me confidence it would last long, with ratcheting noises frequently occurring. Also shifted slower than Kia's own CVT when shifted manually with the base 2.0
I'm putting a 10grand down payment at a msrp of 27,635$ though I am going to try to haggle what do you think is the lowest they would go? What payments were you looking at? I have a good range credit score and a 10grand down-payment is a large one. This car at this price range is just the best with what you get feature wise unless you want a hyundai hybrid, a volkswagen jetta gli is the only comparable car but at a higher price. I'm just nervous to get this car it'd be my first new purchade
I put 6k down. Had a 2.9 percent interest rate and 385 a month payments. I would be willing too bet they won't go below sticker because they could easily sell it at sticker in this market. I would be happy your not paying over sticker.
Put your $10k into a 4% APY 12 month cd and let the interest make your payments. Don't throw that much cash down on a depreciating liability Banker here
You're haggling wrong. They make more money if they think you're going to finance the entire purchase with them. That makes them more lenient on the purchase. After you come to a price agreement then you drop the 10k on them. I'm not saying hagglin's going to work in this economy but that's 101 for car buying
A banker would think that lol. If it's interest rate on the loan is higher than the interest rate back on the CD it's obviously going to be a loss. I bet his interest rate is probably five or six at least.
Is the 2022 DCT anybetter than 2019-2021 where there is throttle lag when you floor it and surging under full throttle and then rev hang after you let off the throttle?
Getting one tomorrow, but they're overcharge me for it. 32k out the door, but then I searched out town and I seen it for 24k.. I really want a new car..but damn so hard to find the one
If you're paying $32k for a Forte GT you might as well just shoot yourself for being stupid. Never ever pay over MSRP for any car. And when you talk to car sales ppl, don't be acting like you really want the car. Play hard to get, they'll come around.
OK, so my first take on this is you may have some entitlement issues, the car, on the other hand, not so much, and actually sounds like it's pretty decent. Not hating on you, just my honest take.
Thanks for making these reviews. I have been looking for a new 2023 manual. Looking a Forte and Mazda 3. Found Mazda 3 on sale, but they only sell it with leather seats. Even with that comes out less than the Kias. Dealer still wants $4,500 over MSRP to cover life time oil changes. Another dealer wants $1,500 over MSRP. He knows he can rake me over the coals. For the car is not easy to find. Are you looking at used car to get it under $10,000? Cheapest that I have found is Nissan Versa. About $17,000.
It's OK buddy. We've all been there. As far as cars like that, like the Kia and the Hyundai, you either pay on the front end or the back end. You get what you pay for. I would rather pay on the front end and get something nicer than save a buck and get some thing of poor quality that's already has water in the taillights.
20,000 miles I still love mine the engine is easy to work on and I drove home to Tennessee my fiance enjoyed it alos my insurance is only 1,100 dollars amd totaled two cars how the blank is 3,000 dollars
@@carlangas991 Honestly if you're getting the K5, might as well go full on and get the GT with 290 hp. Unless you're going for it because of the style, anything lower than K5 GT, better get the Forte GT. But that's just my opinion, which basically boils down to, cheaper car with highest trim > more expensive car with lesser trim, even more so in this case that the K5 isnt too different from the Forte, luxury wise
Yeah road noise. I've been in plenty of "sub 30k" cars. That doesn't make it an excuse? My girlfriends sub 20k corolla has less than half the road noise that forte had.
Saab 9-3 or 9-3 wagon, or Volvo V50 s40 or C30 are the best used car bargains. 2010-2011. Every one in the Northeast is a better price than Hondas and Toyotas. The Volvos go a million miles. Saab not so much but they look great with AWD. And then wait for the Alfa Tonale used. You can modify these cars up to insane horsepower. My Volvo V50 is the best! 5 cylinder engine note is beautiful. It drives so comfortably. And has tons of room in the back.
Question: I’m considering getting this for my next car in December, but I don’t don’t know how to drive a manual. Do you NEED to use the paddles on the 7 speed Dual Clutch Automatic, or will the car shift on its own? Should I step down to the GT Line?
It will shift on its own without using paddles. You can use the paddles for fun if you would like. Up too you if you want too step down too the gt line. It was be a smoother riding suspension with much better gas mileage. However you will loose out on the 60 horse and more "fun" driving experience vs a commuter car
If that car has the turbo engine and you drive it hard it's probably not going to last long turbo engines put so much pressure on the internal parts if they're driven aggressively they wear out sooner
I could afford it just fine. I didn't want to afford a car I didn't enjoy enough to be paying for. A corvette for 10k less is a substantially better time in my opinion.
He literally gave nothing but personal reasons on why he's selling it and they're all personal good reasons depending on what type of car person you are so I'm not really understanding what you mean Sir.
I did all the research I did and I'm glad I bought it. Was a nice car too have for the time I had it. Just didn't enjoy it enough to care too pay for it.
That's not insurance fraud at all. People choose not to spend the money they receive from insurance to fix hail damage all the time. Your still receiving money for your vehicle now being valued as less.
You did not understand what I was stating in the video. I didn't like the car enough to want to pay for it without the benefits. Ive got a brand new Ford Maverick now which I find to be better in many ways
I was literally looking to buy one of these new within the next couple of weeks, but after you told me about the taillights filling up with rain water, that’s a no go for me. 😐
I’ll also add that I’m in Australia and we must get a different built (not sure if they come out the same factory) I haven’t experienced any of the things you mentioned and have to say paint quality is actually very good. I did have a Honda Civic previously and recall a guy over there complaining about the paint too but ours here are fine 🤷♂️ Have to say it’s a better car than the 2020 Civic Grand Tourer
Is your built in Mexico as well? Everyone I've talked too about this car complains about the paint. You can (non exaggerating) scratch it with your finger nail. Other than those minor things. It really was a fantastic car!
@@PerformanceOnWheels ahh huh there’s the difference. Ours come out the factory in South Korean but Kia and Hyundai Australia do their own Australian suspension tune which they pride themselves on. Also our Honda’s come from Thailand. I think yours are built in the States right? Looking forward to seeing your new Vet!
If you want to keep the same levels of tech (in some ways better) look at a dodge dart GT. It has sport suspension and all. Not fast though. Not sure how you feel about speed. It’s basically the equivalent to this forte handling and interior wise. GT AND LIMITED trims ONLY
@@braetonwilson4296 because ew. Those are ugly and stale for the years the dart was made. Tin cans with cost cutting underbody construction in terms of materials. The dart is just a better buy. Aluminum front and rear subframe, a semi adaptive suspension on GT models standard ETC. don’t get any of this on a Corolla.
I’m sorry, limited trims don’t handle like this, it has tech being the top “luxury “ trim level.. the GT has a different steering rack, and a different engine/ trans tune .
I agree about the clutch. It's soo soo slow in 1st gear. I just took home a 2023, woth the exhaust dual package so I know it was t made in Mexico not that that is a thought. But every car I turned in my forte a 2022. 2.0 auto no sunroof but aye I am digging my new gt
So why put watch before you buy on the thumbnail. Kinda clickbait IMO. Nothing wrong with the car and yes Kia would have fixed that on a brand new car.
So basically the car is fine it's the owner who is defective
Not really no. No reason my brand new 27k cars taillights should be filled with water.
lol
basically he can't afford it.

I got a killer deal on it (no markup) my local Honda dealer wanted WAY more for a new Civic SI. Also, you'll enjoy the car a lot more if you swap the tires out from the factory Kumho all seasons.
Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of getting one, what was your out the door price and what state was it purchased in? Thanks ahead of time
@@carlangas991 If I remember correctly it was just over 27k. Got it with the GT2 package. So pretty much I paid MSRP. Put a decent down payment (few grand) and my monthly payment is a bit under $300.00. Purchased in upstate NY.
What tires did you change to?
What tire would you recommend swapping to? thanks in advance
What tires did you get for it?
the fact that youre complaining about insurance being 3000 a year with a 4dr sedan then you ramble about getting a corvette or mustang doesn't make any sense
Actually just bought a Corvette last week. Insurance is less than half of what this car costed me.

Me too. 1.5 years and still love it!
Almost 3 years on my 2020 gt2

being young and having to insure your car sucks its always going to be expensive. i just turned 32 and my rates for my car are finally starting to go down also taking driving classes like defensive classes can bring down your insurance rates if you can get them a certificate from a authorized driving school.
Good too know
The „Nightmare of Ownership“ in the title picture is just clickbait.
Do you have gt limited?
@@Dabal_R When I bought my car there were three trims, GT(DCT,) GT -Manual, and GT2(DCT.) I don't know what's different on the limited trim.
@@mystiqblackcat gt limited gets 200 hp whereas gt line comes with 147....and you're in which country?

thanks for posting this. was looking at this car to be on the highway a lot, road noise an abosulte non-starter. NEXT~!
I believe that's correct , when you are the new owner. You get a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on the car.
But then when you sell it, the
2 owner or
3 owner will get a five year 60,k mile warranty on it
It is correct
Stop crying 😭, love, love my 22 GT, you still have time to join the Marines or the Army.
I'm doing great for myself without the marines or army. Thanks though. I don't want to pay for a car I don't enjoy enough to want too pay for.
Got two test drive this model car today this car is quick and fun to drive the seat's are not comfortable road noise is very noticeable and ride quality isn't great so I bought the bigger brother K5 GT Line very pleased with that purchase
Sounds like we both had pretty much the same summary! Enjoy your new K5!
I had a Mazda2 hatchback and I just got a 2023 Forte like 2 weeks ago, I love it so much, and had enough saved up that I'm only going to have to pay off 7k in financing
That's awesome! Congrats!
Wow, that's great!!
Literally just bought my 2024 Kia forte and loving the mpg and features. Just wanted a daily work commute
When I got the call for this car and I drove it's manual trans I took it home. Very fun. UT the 1st gear to me. Is slow on launch. Just me. I haven't drove manually since 2016 I am novice

I can afford it just fine. Just don't want too afford it. Nor did I hate on it.

They are pretty straight. He plans to buy a Corvette soon.
I don't see where the nightmare aspect of car ownership was a factor. There was nothing substantial wrong with the car.
Has anyone noticed that the new gts have no exhaust, ? The exhaust is a single pipe behind the rear bumper
My bad the gt line has no exhaust its hidden behind the rear bumper my gt has a duel exhaust system
Bought mine recently. 2024 Gt2 package. Fun to drive!!
So you did what a lot of employees do. Buy it at below MSRP, wait for car prices to keep going up on a used car and sell it for profit. Too bad used car prices have started lowering for you but at least you got it of it while you could.
I would have kept it if I had stayed with the company. I'm just glad I didn't loose money.
Don't let this video scare you away from owning one.
im going on a year of having it and i have zero complaints i do miss having a bigger car but thats not the cars fault at all ive driven cross country twice in it and its been nothing but great
First world problems bruh..... the car is dirt cheap. Best bang for your buck. Next.
My used bmw begs to differ. If you don't know how to work on cars- it's the best bang for your buck
I love driving it but I'm a newbie at the manual transmission. I haven't had a stick since 2016 my ek civic b18c so I have to get to know my new transmission and the turbo etc 🙃
I have the exact same car and enjoying it 8 months in
I really wish they would have made a higher performance version of Forte GT w/ the Elantra N engine and upgraded wet dual clutch. It would have made a great sleeper.
I agree
I have Mercury insurance and my 22 GT manual is only $68 a month full coverage with a $50 deductible. But I’m 49 and have never had a ticket.
And insurance for those 2nd hand cars he mentioned he want are going to be even higher. Smh...youth these days.
Is the road noise bad on the Aussie model? I'm looking at the 2023 model but road noise is a concern for me, I drive a lot on our shit highways haha
Love my 22 Kia Stinger GT2. Kia just hitting it out of the park lately. But you should do what makes you happy!
They have definitely made some amazing improvements over the years
Meh. I like my Forte GT more than the Stinger.
I had a Veloster DCT. This transmission never gave me confidence it would last long, with ratcheting noises frequently occurring. Also shifted slower than Kia's own CVT when shifted manually with the base 2.0
My cousin is considering a 2023 Forte GT-Line around $25k before tax. How does that fare with GT or the regular Elantra SEL Convenience?
Sounds like there asking over MSRP. Basically the same car as the elantra
Oh wow you’re 20 ?
Got quoted $7,800cad a year for a used 2020 Forte GT as a 18 year old for insurance😭
Bought mine today in white. Had to shop at different dealers to get msrp...hate dealers
Put your $10k into a 4% APY 12 month cd and let the interest make your payments. Don't throw that much cash down on a depreciating liability
Banker here
You're haggling wrong.
I've had my 2023 Forte GT DCT for 2wks and love it! Same color as yours. 🥰
Definitely an awesome color!
I just bought mine yesterday lol
Is the 2022 DCT anybetter than 2019-2021 where there is throttle lag when you floor it and surging under full throttle and then rev hang after you let off the throttle?
Hey I was just wondering I’m a porter at Kia and was wondering how did you get the 300 equity and if I’d be allowed to receive it also
That was a benefit thru my particular employer
Getting one tomorrow, but they're overcharge me for it. 32k out the door, but then I searched out town and I seen it for 24k.. I really want a new car..but damn so hard to find the one
I definitely wouldn't buy over MSRP on one of these. You will never get it back.
@@PerformanceOnWheels I'm wait until December. To either get one or wait
If you're paying $32k for a Forte GT you might as well just shoot yourself for being stupid. Never ever pay over MSRP for any car. And when you talk to car sales ppl, don't be acting like you really want the car. Play hard to get, they'll come around.
I’d definitely only get one if you can get the deals , which Kia isn’t offering anymore . Good luck
Does a 2018 Forte with a manual transmission have hilltop assist?
Road noise? Didn't you test drive it?
OK, so my first take on this is you may have some entitlement issues, the car, on the other hand, not so much, and actually sounds like it's pretty decent. Not hating on you, just my honest take.
I'm all good. Much happier with my Ford Maverick over that
Thanks for making these reviews.
I’m lookin at a gt line to safe on insurance but has the gt2 pkg on it do they have the white lights in the head lights or the halogen
thats insane..... I pay 3k a year for 3 cars and a house. One of those vehicles is a 2015 Vette with full coverage.
He's not selling the vehicle because it's a bad car. He's selling it because he's too young and can't afford it. Fortes are decent cars.
I could afford it just fine. Didn't want to pay for a car I did not enjoy
Im thinking of getting a K5 with 180hp or this GT with manual with 201hp. K5 has AWD optional. Not sure which is worth it more though.
K5
@@PUMAOT why? It does look nicer but is it worth the extra few thousand?
@@carlangas991 Honestly if you're getting the K5, might as well go full on and get the GT with 290 hp. Unless you're going for it because of the style, anything lower than K5 GT, better get the Forte GT. But that's just my opinion, which basically boils down to, cheaper car with highest trim > more expensive car with lesser trim, even more so in this case that the K5 isnt too different from the Forte, luxury wise
K5 GT doesn't come in AWD.
Road noise? Thats your first complaint? On a sub $30k car? Make it make sense.

You ain't gonna find any of those cars you mentioned for $10k or less. He only want to spend $8k -$10k or less.
The problem is the piece behind the steering wheel….you!😂
🤣 that was pretty hilarious
Question: I’m considering getting this for my next car in December, but I don’t don’t know how to drive a manual. Do you NEED to use the paddles on the 7 speed Dual Clutch Automatic, or will the car shift on its own? Should I step down to the GT Line?
It will shift on its own without using paddles. You can use the paddles for fun if you would like. Up too you if you want too step down too the gt line. It was be a smoother riding suspension with much better gas mileage. However you will loose out on the 60 horse and more "fun" driving experience vs a commuter car
@@PerformanceOnWheels thanks for the insight!
Next ? GT3-RS ?
If you would be willing to give me one, absolutely!
If that car has the turbo engine and you drive it hard it's probably not going to last long turbo engines put so much pressure on the internal parts if they're driven aggressively they wear out sooner
Warranty is cut in half and yet it still has better warranty than anything out there with 3/36 5/60. Lol
I would assume the LX and GT Line models of the Kia Forte will be similar.
The manual is definitely better. Sounds like you just need to sell it because you can't afford it.

I’ll also add that I’m in Australia and we must get a different built (not sure if they come out the same factory)
