@Sparky Channel. Thanks Bill for another great repair tutorial. I like how you check all parts of the ignition system to make sure it's not just one part that went bad. Thanks again. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Sparky,I have an old O'Keefe and Merritt wall oven that won't lite?? The pilot is on but the burner won't come on. Any advice on how to troubleshoot?? Thanks.
You use junction boxes every time you make connections between cables, and you don't have a switch or an outlet where you could make the connections in the back of the box. They prevent that cable connections are exposed. In the best case tools like a screwdriver are required to open them, so kids can't mess around with them easily. Exposed live parts are always a thread. There are also junction boxes available for outdoor use, they are protected againt the ingress of dust and water.
Can I test current draw from the igniter while it’s still connected in the oven? I’m assuming I should just turn off the gas? Can somebody tell me what happens without the heat shield if the gas ignites?
When I signed up for the military , they used the lottery system and my number was 323 ... I always equated it with Romans 3:23 ... That amp number reminded me of that ... Good vid besides that ... Lol ...
@@SparkyChannel but my stove top turns on and so does the broiler it's just bake igniter I have bought 2 different ones and both would not glow after connecting them. Do you know what could it be??

Question.. does this igniter supposed to continue to glow at full amperage. ? During the time the gas burners r ON.
Big fan I was wondering if you could make a video explaining the purpose of junction boxes and how to use them thank you

I put it on my list of videos to make.
Nice work!
Thanks Otis!
Does it matter which wire connects to the original wires?
The hot wire goes to the positive terminal.
Doesn’t matter at all.

Yes but make sure the gas is off!

Just what I needed 2.8 amp.
Excellent!
So what could it be if the igniter doesn't glow??
It could be the igniter, or it could be that the igniter isn't getting power.
