FILM SYNOPSIS♡
Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria's (Emily Watson) families have arranged their marriage. Though they like each other, Victor is nervous about the ceremony. While he's in a forest practicing his lines for the wedding, a tree branch becomes a hand that drags him to the land of the dead. It belongs to Emily, who was murdered after eloping with her love and wants to marry Victor. Victor must get back aboveground before Victoria marries the villainous Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant).

Fun fact: Blue roses stand for mystery and trying to obtain the impossible. In this case, Emily was trying to obtain the impossible by trying to marry the living, hence why she has blue roses.

15:04 -- he is *not* stringing her along. He means it. He is too late for Victoria, who is now married to someone else. So there's nothing left for him to return to in the land of the living. So he might as well stay and try to make Emily happy, after all that she's been through. And having given his word, he is honorably prepared to keep it- even if it means giving up an unexpected second chance to be with Victoria.

I think ( this is a theory ) Emily knew A LOT about Viktor because she is that butterfly viktor kept on seeing. A lot of people , and me , think this because at the end of the movie you see her evaporate into butterfly’s. The same ones that Viktor kept on seeing.
That's what I've always thought, too! In the original screenplay for the film she even tells him she'd been watching him in the woods!

I remember watching this movie when i was six, and in the part where the guy that unalived emily stabbed her with the sword i told my mom that she problably died that way, because we were alredy learning about how bones work (also almost having a broken rib at five years old) so a part of me was telling me that it wasnt normal that her ribs had the perfect space for a blade, also the only gash that is in the corset of her dress is there so i was telling all of that to my poor mother and she was reconsidering if she should let me whatch criminal detective shows with my grandmother.

Tim Burton shows through his film, Corpse Bride, that death does not have to be so scary. He paints life in many of his films, to be opaque and melancholic and describes the afterlife to be more peaceful by using colorful scenery.

The title of your video is what I say everytime I watch this movie. Johnny Depp was perfect for this as well as Helena Bonham Carter as Emily. If you want to see another movie with them, watch Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

I really Enjoy stop motion and claymation movies like this I don't think they get enough credit also I don't think we have enough of them I understand they take a ridiculous amount of time to make but the result at the end is well worth it in my opinion cause it is amazing. For one of Burton's more divisive movies - Ed Wood. Not one of my faves, certainly.
For an underrated, but not necessarily lesser known Burton - Mars Attacks! The cast alone is insane. Consider watching the original War of the Worlds movie first, as Mars Attacks! draws heavily from the classic.

They point to Emily's magical powers and her earlier life, and more information about her death and her parents (I only know that her father is English, and the mother is French and that her last name is Merrimack).
I think that if they had revealed all that (and especially everything about Emily's death), this would no longer be a film intended for children.

I remember watching this movie as a kid, and I loved every minute of it. I was never really a big fan of Victoria, to be honest. Victor and Victoria didn't have much chemistry or scenes together but the chemistry between Victor and Emily was great, and I think they were the better couple.
