I just tried this and my hair looks amazing I love this thick voluminous layered cut!! whoever said you can't do a professional job should practice more because it looks better now than it ever has at a hair salon. More times than not I left the salon unhappy with the results but now I finally am happy with my hair cut thank you Elle :)

Love your tutorials, I have been using them to cut my own hair for the past year and a half. You are easy to follow and the results are great! I'm lucky to have forgiving hair that is thick and wavy.

I always love watching your videos! I am a hairstylist but work from home so I always cut my own hair and I use your technique on my own cut. I've never been happier with my haircuts. I am not daring enough to colour my hair like yours but I certainly want to. I adore your colour!

Hi! I'm a new subscriber and I already love your videos! I have yet to try this out on myself and am debating whether or not I should in case I screw it up lol. I just want to say thank you for the detailed description of how to achieve this cut. I have had this cut before and when I did, I felt SO beautiful. My hair is wavy/curly and it would always look great straight out of the shower. When I went back to the same stylist who gave me this cut a few years later, she did not give me the same result. I got exactly what you said - the blunt straight lines between the layers. It's literally been 2 years and since then I'm still trying to get your cut. Every single hairdresser I've gone to has followed that existing style that I hate. I finally gave up and chopped off the layers into a long bob. I don't get why it's so hard for hairdressers to do what I ask. I think if I use your key words like NOT blunt, soft lines, tapered I hope I can get it back. Or I could just show your video!!

I got a lot of damage about a year ago but luckily I have thick hair so it's not so bad. Your videos have helped me so much! I am going through a period where paying lots of money to go to a hairdresser isn't an option..I have to say thanks to your videos my hair is now healthy, long and blonde. I enjoy your videos so much, keep them coming!

I did this today. Was desperate in quarantine and pulled the trigger -- even though I was SO SCARED. I actually watched all three of your tutorials and it TOTALLY worked! AMAZING! Thank you for sharing this. I also watched your men's haircut and cut my husband's hair last night. I think that looks pretty good too! I think we will still go back to the pros when this is over, but this was so great until we all open again.

First I have to say that I absolutely love you! Today I’m trying to cut layers into my daughters’s thick hair, I’m having a little bit of difficult time figuring how I’m going to create layers since you basically can only really show how to trim your own existing cut.

I've always wanted to cut my own hair - successfully! and after following your tutorials, I am amazed at how good I have done it, even if I do say so myself. I desperately needed my haircut before the Covid lockdown, so I used this opportunity (nobody, would be able to see if it was a total disaster, right?) but I did such a surprisingly good job, that I was disappointed that there would be no one to notice! Such as life. I've just done my latest cut - successfully - and still watching your vids at the same time, I hasten to add!

Just tried this on my very long hair that is passed my waist, very thick, and natural curly. It turned out great! I used a combo of all hair trimming videos and I'm very pleased. I'll be doing this again.

Thank you so much for this video, I just tried it and it turned out great (even though I didn't have layers before and was really scared to do that), but I'm so happy now :) Thanks a lot!
