that was just jaw dropping(ly simple) ... Starting to love Davinci Resolve more every day... What an extraordinary software!!! . Thank you for that tutorial. You saved me so much time
arigato. Just tried this in deepl from german to english but didnt work. any specific setting in deepl or do I need to use the pro version maybe? the program seems to be confused by the timestamps... not sure though.
I am not sure, but when I did it I used the free version. But it did not work for me too when I tried to translate everything at once. Did you try translating only a part of your text? There is a limit per month I think (pretty large) and I think a limit per each translation. But you can just cut up your text into smaller chunks.....OK.....I just translated 1580-character German text and got the message that they only translated 1500 words, but if I sign in and make a FREE account (I was not signed in) I can get 5000 per translation. I guess more if I pay for pro. Also, I found the time stamps were not a problem, but if there was a "B" in there (for bold text) it did not work. Hope you can get it to work.
Danke! I doesn´t work for me though - no matter how much I limit the amount of text. I used Chat GPT instead and it works fine. Accuracy is about the same I would say. Maybe deepl is a bit better. Anyhow, thanks.@@Presentation-Zen
@@Presentation-Zen This works pretty well in Chat GPT, also. The prompt I used was "Can you please help me translate this SRT file from [original language] to [target language]?" There were a couple of hiccups I noticed with a more lengthy clip, but the shorter ones went off without a hitch.
question: assuming these are actually closed captions...when I did this for English to Russian CCs, the video players I used both show "English"...is there a way to change that?
good breakdown. its a shame that you can't save text style presets at track level to swap out without the need of dialling in all the details every time.
Hi, How do you give your subtitle a name so that when you look for subs in your video player (VLC for example), it will show the languages available? When I add a subtitle track it just says English [1], English [2], where instead I want to have French as that is the subs I have created?

This is really useful, thanks Garr!
An absolutely brilliant tip. Many thanks for that

How did you solve it? When I do the translation and replace the da Vinci file it doesn't let me import it into the time line

my question too
Absolutely great Tip ! Thank you :)
Glad it was helpful!
Can I change a word that is misspelled across all the subtitles as you can with transcription?
Yes. Go back to your .srt file and simply do a "find and replace" in TextEdit (Mac) or NotePad (PC), then import your .srt file again into Resolve.
Спасибо тебе, добрый человек!
Thanks!!!
