Still. I don’t know cause I only drive in S mode. Probably get the same MPG driving in comfort mode but with the high flow catted downpipe, the exhaust system will drone and get annoying. That’s why I drive in S mode cause the higher rpms kills/stops the droning. You can always message IE and ask them based on whatever setup you plan to put in your car. Their customer service team is awesome!
i have a 6 speed manual, and dont want to have to upgrade the clutch. im on a budget and do you think the stage 1 is more worth it or spend the extra money on stage 2? also did you notice a big power difference when jumping from stage 1 to 2?
Stage 2 was huge difference cause it’s not just a tune, you need to also upgrade the cat to a high-flow cat. You can always message IE directly and ask for their thoughts. They are super good in responding to people.
It’s not required but you’re not getting get the most power gains outta the stage 2 tune (regular or crackle) if you don’t have a higher performance intercooler. However, the must-have in order to do a stage 2 tune is a high flow downpipe.
You can do a stage 2 if you have all the stuff I mentioned in the video. Intake, intercooler, downpipe. No. It connects to the mid pipe that has the oem 1st resonator. My magnaflow replaced where my 2nd resonator was at.
So I’m getting an Audi a4 2.0t this month and I want to upgrade so it can push 300 plus hp I watched all your other videos from step 1 do you still consider it a everyday drivable car and fast?
Yes. Still is a daily. My only gripe is the hi-flow downpipe. Because it deletes the resonator…there’s some drone inside the car when just cruising at lower rpms. Hurts my head sometimes and my wife hates it. Keep in mind, I’m almost 40 so I’m older and even small things gives me headaches. Lol. Driving at higher rpms, drone goes away. Other than that, it’s been super reliable. I know the next step would be to upgrade the turbo. That will definitely put you over 300hp. I’ve never done a turbo swap so I’m not sure how reliable it is. But my car with all my mods with a stage2 tune has been great.
I have a 2012 Audi A4 2.0T on a stage II 93 octane crackle tune, and I feel like im not getting all the power it offers and it has all the required parts. I've been kinda having some issues with the IE intake manifold, and I belive I have to tune that as well any information would be great.
Hey man I'm planning on running same exhaust setup with the same dp and cat. do you think its too droney and loud? If so, do u think it would sound good with 2 resonators on each side after the y pipe?
It’s droney for me because I drive a lot on low speeds at low rpms cause my wife and I take it everywhere. In higher rpms it’s not that droney. Best to just get it done and see if you like it. If not, you can always put a resonator in. I’m gonna take mine to a shop and see if they can put a custom short resonator where the first oem resonator use to be.
I’m about to go stage 2 on my b8.5 and I am currently running a standard blowoff vaulve. What performance difference did it make when switching to the BV+ and what made you change to it?
BOV purges excess boost and makes the loud wooosh. DV+ diverts the excess boost back into the system to help maintain boost between shifts so the turbo doesn't have to start from scratch in spooling up to build up boost again. Motor should be more responsive between shifts. I dont know how much of a big difference it is between both but I'll trust the nature of a DV+ functionality on paper to keep it on my car.
Yes. I did. I mentioned that in my intercooler video. I went with a DV+ diverter valve instead of a blow off valve. I wanted to recirculate unused boost instead of just venting it all out. Just better performance especially with a tune (IMO) and you can feel the difference when going WOT between the gears.
Is there anyway to find out if audi already has a tune. I bought 17 A4 with no cat and already with air intake but not sure if it has a tune? Any way to find out from IE?
You gotta take it to a shop to have them scan and read certain metrics. Cause there will be something that will show the ecu has been flashed. But if you have no cat and no check engine light, high probability the car has a tune to factor in that cat delete.
How does the IE tune handle flexfuel (E85)? I know the APR tune automatically switches back and forth depending on the type of fuel you put in. Nice ride btw, I like that steering wheel, I'm debating on which tune to go with on my 2014 B8.5
You plug the IE tune dongle to the car with the laptop and select the E85 stage 2 tune. Takes 5 mins to do. You can literally pause my video and see all the options during my tune process. The stage 2 tunes comes with a bunch of different options you can switch between. That’s why I said I’m saving the 93 octane stage2 crackle tune for another video. I have zero plans of running another octane even though I have access to them.
Don’t remember. You gotta go to IE website for the price. I think I paid $200 or more for the install? I don’t remember cause I had a 50k mile tune up done at the same time.
Just had a quick question. I just did the IE stage 2 on my 2013 A4 with flex fuel 2.0T (code CPMA). Used the ECS tuning 3” downpipe (‘cuse I’m cheap 😂). It was great until I put a different (non IE) intake on. It started throwing a P2177 (system lean off idle) code. Didn’t know if you or anyone else had this issue with an intake on the flex fuel engine?
@@TheFlexxGarage Put the stock air cleaner back on and it’s been fine. Everything I’ve read points to fuel injectors. Mine are probably border line and adding the intake just pushed it over the top.
Planning to do the same exhaust setup on my stage 2 A4. Would you recommend keeping a resonator still on to avoid some drone? (I currently have a High Flow Cat)
I’m planning to get an aftermarket resonator welded onto the high flow downpipe. The second resonator I will keep off my car. The 1st one is more important cause it sits right underneath the driver/passenger seats where I get the most drone.
I got 2014 a4 sline with full cat back non resonated exhaust and I’m wondering do I still need to buy a down pipe for stage 2 I got the iE intecooler and air intake
Tunes don’t void warranties….dealerships void warranties. It’s always up to the dealership if they want to cover you or not. Some are cool with tunes, some aren’t. If you wanna be 100% sure you’re covered, then don’t risk it. That’s just my thought but at the end of the day, it’s your car.
@@TheFlexxGarage that's completely false with Audi. A case has to be made on warranty work by the tech directly to Audi and they do a warranty test on the ECM which will detect if it has ever been flashed or tuned. They turned down an sq5 a warranty engine because they thought putting the stock file back on would trick them.
Wrong. 1 case doesn’t mean anything. Most dealers operate on their own and are empowered to grant coverage or not on modified cars. Some don’t care about tunes but some will care. I know many Audi techs that say they warranty Audi all the time as long as the tune is not the specific reason for causing issues on the car. Again, it’s up to the dealership to decide if they will warranty your car or not. And that’s with any brand, not just Audi. That’s why I said it’s better to check with the dealer than assume 100% it’s covered, or 100% it’s not covered. Every car owner is responsible for their own actions on their car. You can’t tell them it’s not covered and you can’t tell them it’s covered cause you’re not the dealership.
Can I just install the ie downpipe and just a tip in the end? will it be louder like just straight pipe? No muffler and no resonator? ie downpipe still has cat right?
You can for off-road purposes but for street usage, that’s straight up illegal. And as clearly explained in the video, the downpipe has a high-flow cat.
@@TheFlexxGarage oh. Right now I have stock exhaust, Resonator delete and muffler delete. I still have the first resonator. If I delele this resonator, will it be illegal? Sorry I'm really new in this..
I have an A4 2015 B8.5 like the one in the video, got it at 52k miles, started getting oil consumption about 1quart/1000 miles at around 58k, slowly it’s degraded to around 1quart/600 miles in the city and 1quart/400 miles on the highway. I have put it through lots of high rpm usage but nothing dangerous for the engine, internet suggests the piston rings wear down over time and let tiny amounts of oil burn in the gaps. I would make sure you know the car and ask about consumption issues before you buy one at a higher milage, it will save you an unbelievable amount.
@@supergilley04 it can be the piston rings but also check the pcv value I had that happen on my 2009 S4 and the pcv value was the issue so check that as well
Watch the video again. It’s a high-flow catted downpipe. Not a catless downpipe which is illegal for public roads. Not all down pipes have no cat. People keep throwing the term “downpipe” around the wrong way. Downpipe is an exhaust component. It can be catted or catless. Your stock car has a downpipe but it’s a catted downpipe.
No. I’m not going to risk reliability. Some people have done it and it’s fine but I’m not risking it. Plus I’m not planning on racing or anything so there’s no point. I’m good with my stage 2.
I’ve had my A4 for 1.5 years, put around 14k miles on it from buying it at 52k miles but I was wondering if you’ve ran into any of the reliability issues many B8-8.5 owners have, mainly in piston ring wear causing an increased oil burn rate. I’m burning around a quart per 600 miles, and every time I floor it even to around 5k rpm I smell burning oil, causing me to have to spend a lot of money between oil changes. I was contemplating the worth of upgrading the car if these issues continue, or if it would be better to invest in something more reliable. I would love to know if you’ve had any of these issues yourself!
What year is yours? I have a 2014 bought at 64k no issues with oil until around 75-80k and same thing, aroumd 600-750 miles it needs a quart. When I floor it thoigh there’s a lot of brown/darker smoke kind of like a diesel rolling coal.
i have a 2011 a5, in 2018 audi did a recall for that issue, i guess i was lucky if u were under 80k miles it was free , so in 2018 they did that job for me and that was when the transformed a5 2018 came out and got to drive that for a month free🤑
If you’re in WA you have to run 91 file. Or eventually down the line get a custom 92 tune. But there is also a 100 octane tune for b8 a4 that will need port meth injection to go from 92-100 octane.
Unfortunately yes cause the new downpipe has a straight pipe where the oem resonator was at. I say unfortunately because the car is louder and performs better because of less restriction in the exhaust but it definitely drones when I’m cruising at low speeds. If I’m ripping it up all the time, the sound is a non-issue. But i daily my A4 and the droning is too much for my wife so I plan on having a shop put a small resonator back in.
A tune is not a small intervention. It's changing the way the car runs and operates which requires alot of system tests during the tuning process. It's like doing brain surgery but for a car. The battery charger is a safety measure as a backup just in case the voltage in the battery drops during tuning. Every tune requires the car to have enough power when you are writing to the car's computer. If anything should happen while you are writing a tune and the power randomly drops, you're screwed and your car can be completely screwed up and costing you thousands to fix all because a battery charger wasn't used. Batteries randomly fail all the time. The power from the wall and a battery charger is less likely to fail. I would NOT take the risk of tuning a car running purely of just the car's battery.
I'm confused here sorry. Do you have OEM Catalytic converter or IE downpipe with high cat? I'm planning to go stage 2 but I want to make sure legal setup. I'm thinking IE 3" Catted Downpipe, Both resonators Delete, Muffler Delete and just a tip in the end. Will that be super loud? legal? OR IE 3" Catted Downpipe, 1 resonator, muffler delete and just a tip in the end?
Already clearly mentioned in video (in detail about my setup with the hi flow cat) Muffler deletes are illegal in most states. You have to do your own research for where you live.
Don’t know. Probably is the same or a tad worse than stock. It’s not like you lose so much mpg that you should be worried. I don’t pay attention to fuel consumption cause getting a stage 2 is about power, sound, and tons of fun driving the car. IMO…It’s not about saving fuel. Even if the fuel is the same…that’s not accurate cause when you have a stage 2 tune, you will floor the crap outta the car more often and drive in higher rpms to have more fun and that requires the car to drink more then regular amount of fuel.
@@TheFlexxGarage thanks bro Pls another question…I also have Audi a4 fwd 2015 s line model. Done some quiet mods because I follow your videos here. You need to check with IE. Once you buy a stage tune level…you have free access to switch between the different tunes within that stage level. I used my credits on a stage 2, so I can now switch anytime between the different tunes within the stage 2 level.
What? Get the tune or an A4? A4 is a great first car as long as you get a 2013-2016. Stay away from the 2008-2012. Too many issues that was fixed in the 2013-2016 version. And just like any purchase (especially if it has high mileage)…get a pre purchase inspection to make sure the car is in tiptop shape and not gonna break down and cost you money to replace parts/fix. My car is 2015 and has about 50k miles. Been perfect so far. Zero issues.
As a first car id stay away. Get something more simple to get your feet wet and learn. If you buy the wrong german car thats not got good service records, it could ruin your want to be a car enthusiast
Yes I think u can chuck an rs4 B8 grille on there. There cheap on EBay. U should do the fogs too at the same time. I’m currently thinking about doing myself.
It’s close depending on which years are being compared. If same year, should be neck and neck on a roll but from a dig, S4 will probably win cause torque is better off the line. (So I’ve been told)
@@TheFlexxGaragedamn that’s lame . A stage 3 should always win against a stock for stock s4. À stage 2 ok maybe I understand if it loose but not stage 3
@@TheFlexxGarage Based on weight and torque assuming all other things equal the k04 wins. Sadly in US you never got the DL501 on the 2l. In Europe we got the DL501 7speed out of b8.5 S and RS models on Black Edition models.
Don’t know. That’s the last thing on my mind. Not something I measure when I’m tuning a car for more power. Indirectly, I probably lost mpg because I’m enjoying the car a lot more and flooring the car a lot more and driving in higher revving RPMs.

It’s not required but you’re not getting get the most power gains outta the stage 2 tune (regular or crackle) if you don’t have a higher performance intercooler.
However, the must-have in order to do a stage 2 tune is a high flow downpipe.
@@TheFlexxGarage thank you. You're a legend.
are u using stock turbo ?
I will definitely like to tune my Audi A6 but need some help with the steps
Really nice build. Will the ie work with european models? How much the credits cost?
Love the build! When you tune the car can you go straight to stage 2 & also does the down pipe you got connect straight to the Magna flow?
You can do a stage 2 if you have all the stuff I mentioned in the video. Intake, intercooler, downpipe.
No. It connects to the mid pipe that has the oem 1st resonator. My magnaflow replaced where my 2nd resonator was at.
Do those paddle shifters work? Is that an S4 steering wheel? Is there a video on that? Your video was not too bad good work
There’s a whole video on it
Bro, have you ever tried from 0 to 100 km ? And is there a big difference between stock and stage 2 from 0 to 100.km
what grill is that i have that same car and am looking for a grill just like that
Details are in my intercooler video where I change the grille.
where did u get the steering wheel??? btw awesome build!
There’s a recent video on it on my RUclips channel.
@@TheFlexxGaragehey just did the same thing to my b8 did you ever find a good muffler or resonator to fix the drone with?
Will the stage 2 tune with components work with the manual 6 speed gearbox + clutch or will that need to be upgraded ?
It should work. I know people with stage 3 and have there stock 6 speed in there A4
I have a 2012 Audi A4 2.0T on a stage II 93 octane crackle tune, and I feel like im not getting all the power it offers and it has all the required parts. I've been kinda having some issues with the IE intake manifold, and I belive I have to tune that as well any information would be great.
Can I hear it
Hey man I'm planning on running same exhaust setup with the same dp and cat. do you think its too droney and loud?
Did you replace your old Blow off Valve with a different one? It sounds different. Also have you experienced any Turbo lag with a BOV
Yes. I did. I mentioned that in my intercooler video. I went with a DV+ diverter valve instead of a blow off valve. I wanted to recirculate unused boost instead of just venting it all out. Just better performance especially with a tune (IMO) and you can feel the difference when going WOT between the gears.
If you get a stage 2 crackle tune do you just get crackles in it or also performance too?
Huh? A stage 2 tune is performance regardless crackle or no crackle.
@@TheFlexxGarage to run e85 on the 2.0s what needs to be done to the fuel system.. I'd probably go with a methanol kit instead of corn🤔
No tunes for my b8.5 with flex yet :,(. From IE.
Dang. That’ stinks.
That's odd. I have a 2013 a4 2.0t quattro w/ flex an an ie stage 1 tune and it runs perfectly fine.
I have a stage 2 ie tune with flex fuel and it works on my 2014 b8.5 a4
How much was the labor for the high flow cat and downpipe installation? Great build by the way!
Don’t remember. You gotta go to IE website for the price. I think I paid $200 or more for the install? I don’t remember cause I had a 50k mile tune up done at the same time.
Please can you tell me where you got the fog light surrounds please they're sick
ECS tuning. I did a whole video on it already
Bro, i want that IE integrated.. I used audi a4 b8.. Can you help me..
In your comments I think you mentioned something about E85 for stage 2 but I dont see that on my list of available options. Am I missing something?
If you bought a stage 2 tune then it should be there. If not, you need to contact IE.
If you have a B8 E85 isn’t available from factory. 2009-2012. If you have b8.5 and don’t see the file option you should contact IE.
That’s interesting. I don’t know the answer but hopefully someone can chime in.
@@TheFlexxGarage okay, think I'm going with the same setup as u got in the video with a vibrant resonator in the front where the oem sits
I have down pipe and only middle rez box and its not bad at all
What steering wheel are you using
I got 2014 a4 sline with full cat back non resonated exhaust and I’m wondering do I still need to buy a down pipe for stage 2 I got the iE intecooler and air intake
Yes. The stage 2 requires an IE downpipe cause the tune works specifically with the IE high-flow cat that’s part of the downpipe.
I want to do a tune on my 2019 A5 but I still have 3 years left on the warranty and I think it would void it unfortunately
Can I do the same to my 2013? I’m an Infiniti guy but I retired it for a a4 but I miss the power
It can
I recently got a a4 like yours what are the list of stuff i need to go stage 2 ?
Look in the video description and go watch the videos. All the info is there.
Sorry I'm really new in this..
do you need a intercooler for stage 2? they say only downpipe
No. But if you want most outta the tune, you def need to upgrade the intake and intercooler.
What engine you have in the b8.5 ? And do you have issues like excessive oil consumption, timing chain stretch and carbon build up? Thanks
Nope. Most of that was fixed in 2013+
Mine is the turbo 4cyl
@@TheFlexxGarage thanks, I'm looking at buying a feb2013 2.0 TFSI Avant Quattro, what is you engine code, so I know what to look for please?
I have an A4 2015 B8.5 like the one in the video, got it at 52k miles, started getting oil consumption about 1quart/1000 miles at around 58k, slowly it’s degraded to around 1quart/600 miles in the city and 1quart/400 miles on the highway. I have put it through lots of high rpm usage but nothing dangerous for the engine, internet suggests the piston rings wear down over time and let tiny amounts of oil burn in the gaps. I would make sure you know the car and ask about consumption issues before you buy one at a higher milage, it will save you an unbelievable amount.
@@supergilley04 it can be the piston rings but also check the pcv value I had that happen on my 2009 S4 and the pcv value was the issue so check that as well
How do you plan on passing MA inspection with the downpipe?
Watch the video again. It’s a high-flow catted downpipe. Not a catless downpipe which is illegal for public roads.
Not all down pipes have no cat. People keep throwing the term “downpipe” around the wrong way. Downpipe is an exhaust component. It can be catted or catless. Your stock car has a downpipe but it’s a catted downpipe.
Are you going to do a big turbo? if not would like to see you do it, been following your build.
No. I’m not going to risk reliability. Some people have done it and it’s fine but I’m not risking it. Plus I’m not planning on racing or anything so there’s no point. I’m good with my stage 2.
@@TheFlexxGarage damn, have you raced anyone?
I’ve had my A4 for 1.5 years, put around 14k miles on it from buying it at 52k miles but I was wondering if you’ve ran into any of the reliability issues many B8-8.5 owners have, mainly in piston ring wear causing an increased oil burn rate. I’m burning around a quart per 600 miles, and every time I floor it even to around 5k rpm I smell burning oil, causing me to have to spend a lot of money between oil changes. I was contemplating the worth of upgrading the car if these issues continue, or if it would be better to invest in something more reliable. I would love to know if you’ve had any of these issues yourself!
do maintenance before mods. the piston ring job will be easily 4k+
2016 A4... no issues with oil consumption... the earlier models... 2009 to 2012 had the issues...I had a 2012 major oil consumption issues..
Do you any video with crackle tune on your A4?
Go watch the crackle tune video on my RUclips channel or my A4 video playlist.
Do you have to tune it for the Downpipe
Yes
do you need to tune the software if you install a downpipe?
Yah. That’s why it’s clearly tuned in the video.
Hey bro what keeps me holding back from stage 2 is that my gas stations around me are only 92oct, Will I mess up my car by running 92?
Not sure. You need to ask the team at IE. They are pretty quick to respond if you send them a message on their website.
@@TheFlexxGarage Ok will do, thanks bro, nice ride btw 👍
If you’re in WA you have to run 91 file. Or eventually down the line get a custom 92 tune. But there is also a 100 octane tune for b8 a4 that will need port meth injection to go from 92-100 octane.
Please what steering wheel are you using..any link for it. Thanks
Still being tested. Not available yet. Stay tuned
@@TheFlexxGarage alright bruv, fingers crossed 🤞 🙏🏿
I checked the website and it didn’t have any tube for a b7 2.0
This video is on my car which is a b8/8.5. I don’t know what stuff they carry for older Audi’s. Message them and ask??
hey flexx was the oem resonator deleted when you put the ie down pipe in?
Unfortunately yes cause the new downpipe has a straight pipe where the oem resonator was at. I say unfortunately because the car is louder and performs better because of less restriction in the exhaust but it definitely drones when I’m cruising at low speeds. If I’m ripping it up all the time, the sound is a non-issue. But i daily my A4 and the droning is too much for my wife so I plan on having a shop put a small resonator back in.
@@TheFlexxGarage ok gotcha thanks for the help!
But why use a battery charger if it is in very good condition, it requires so much charge (current) for this small intervention?
Already clearly mentioned in video (in detail about my setup with the hi flow cat)
Muffler deletes are illegal in most states. You have to do your own research for where you live.
Bruh I got a stage 2 ko4 turbo b8 with 360 hp
The stock k03 turbo can't make enough wind to make more than 300 lol
Lpve it! Doing it soon with my a4 6speed, Does your exhaust has test pipe or hfc?
I mentioned it in the video and showed it. It’s a high flow cat. Test pipes are illegal around here. I’m not touching that.
@@TheFlexxGarage where you located? I'm in Ontario
Are you running the GFB DV+ or the VTA?
It’s mentioned in my intercooler video.
Is there any change in pick up...??
Yes
Hi bro
Does the stage 2 tune affect high fuel consumption?
@@TheFlexxGarage thanks bro
Pls another question…I also have Audi a4 fwd 2015 s line model.
Done some quiet mods because I follow your videos here. My tune on the car is IE stage 2 93 octane with crackles.
My mods are
Awe tuning catback exhaust with quad tips
IE cold air intake
IE catted downpipe
IE muffler delete
Afe throttle spacer
Upgraded diverter valve with Gfb blow off valve
Apr ignition coils with new spark plugs
I’m still using the OEM stock cooler, yet to get upgraded intercooler. Will my engine be disturbed if I don’t change it on time.
Pls need your advice. Thanks
But how much are the “credits” as each tune costs 50 credits
You need to check with IE. Once you buy a stage tune level…you have free access to switch between the different tunes within that stage level. I used my credits on a stage 2, so I can now switch anytime between the different tunes within the stage 2 level.
0-100 km/h (62)mp/h ???
Do you have a turbo muffler still?
Yes
Will the sports cat still get it through emissions tests ?
It’s a 300cell cat. I Passed Massachusetts emissions last year and passed New Hampshire emissions this year.
@@TheFlexxGarage do you know anything about UK emissions and whether it would pass here too?
No clue. That might be a question for IE.
Is it worth it to get one as my first car i found a deal but dont know wether to get or not?
Does anybody know if that wire can be bought used? Dont feel like paying $180 for something ill probably use once, maybe twice.
The dongle is made to be shared with friends. It’s not tied to one vin number. Just need to load the app with credits in order to tune each car.
@The Flexx Garage thanks man. Love the channel, big help 👊🏿

Yes I think u can chuck an rs4 B8 grille on there. There cheap on EBay. U should do the fogs too at the same time. I’m currently thinking about doing myself.
Step 1: buy b9
Step 2: get an ecu stage 1 tune 👀
Yeh. And waste thousands of more dollars to get a stock b9 before mods. I’ll stick with my budget b8.5 build.
Nah bro B8.5 ftw
How much for all the updrades total?
I did a whole video on that already. It’s at the end of the A4 mods video playlist.
Did you do a turbo muffler delete?
Already did it in another video
Do people know Stage 3 on an A4 is faster than a stock S4?
It’s close depending on which years are being compared. If same year, should be neck and neck on a roll but from a dig, S4 will probably win cause torque is better off the line. (So I’ve been told)
@@TheFlexxGaragedamn that’s lame . A stage 3 should always win against a stock for stock s4. À stage 2 ok maybe I understand if it loose but not stage 3

Based on weight and torque assuming all other things equal the k04 wins. Sadly in US you never got the DL501 on the 2l. In Europe we got the DL501 7speed out of b8.5 S and RS models on Black Edition models.
When you going k04 bro.
No plans. I’m satisfied. I’ll leave that mod for the next lucky owner of my car when I sell it for one hell of a deal.
did your gas mileage increase or decrease
Don’t know. That’s the last thing on my mind. Not something I measure when I’m tuning a car for more power.
Indirectly, I probably lost mpg because I’m enjoying the car a lot more and flooring the car a lot more and driving in higher revving RPMs.
Is it 300whp or 300 to the crank
