really wish you would mention which model navara your referring to.
our navaras don't blow smoke (as its illegal to do so here). the no1 reason for blowing smoke is simply low quality fuel.
we used to have lots of smokey diesels, then they made it illegal and fuel companies changed the fuel they supplied, suddenly no more smokey diesels.
2nd most common reason is not resetting fuel data after replacing fuel filter, which is badly clogged up due to bad fuel.
worn SCV, injectors etc are also heavily effected by fuel quality.

Good day, recently i have a problem with my d40 idle which the fluctuation of the idle was noticeable esp on cold start. What i did is that i replace the air filter and clean the maf sensor and the idle is now fine. Nice video i learn a lot of things. Keep it up.

I have a peculiar "problem" with my Navara, in that whenever I'm pulling off from standstill in 2nd gear, it moves off gently at first, but when the engine reaches about 12-1500 RPM, a sudden rush of power happens although I kept the same accelerator pedal position. What can be causing that?
If you have a scanner, pls perform a data stream to gather target pressure and actual pressure on the common rail.
It may be due to the failure of fuel pressure sensor

Hi ABC Auto, I have a 2007, D40, (Spain version) with black smoke with hitting 3000+ rpm.
I replace the SCV, blank the EGR, cleaned the MAF, clean the injectors and still the same. I am not losing power or oil, but I have noticed my engine oil get black really fast and it's kind of thick (Castrol 15 /40 ) any other suggestion?

Will you be able to check the following since you have done most part of all.
01. Turbo functions (if the turbo works with vacuums solenoid)
02. Timing chain (secondary) why I’m saying is, in case if the top timing chain has stretched the injector pump advanced wherein rerun to burn unexpected or excessive fuel that has enter into the cylinder
03. With regards to the oil thickness, you may have to check the oil pump as well,
03.1 there are chances of oil contamination due to the bad oil pressure
03.2 engine under compressor
Does a bad MAF sensor display an engine light and how can I check if my one is working as the car runs when it is unplugged without displaying and engine light with it disconnected
Well, a faulty MAS sensor indicator in the scan results unlike check engine light. The best thing is, just take it off and spray some contact cleaner and put it back, that will minimize the black smoke and increase performance when the cylinder gets correct air to file ratio

I have Nissan navara D40, full power I am running on but when rmp exceeds 2000rpm, it gives out thick black smoke. what do you think is the problem?
Though is enough power, it starts up quickly but the black smoke still coming out.
I replace all my filters, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, oil filter and still I have black smoke coming from the engine.

How did you serviced them? Did you use the correct O-ring, copper base washers? If the still black smoke can you just unplug the air mass sensor and turbo vacuum hose and try

May navarra has black smoke and loss of power. No sunction.. no boost as i observe the hose it dose not react during acceleration.. i check the solenoid vale to actuator it has a small sunction. Now i plan to replace the solenoid valve
Have you check the vacuum suction from the direct vacuum hose? If you feel sufficient suction, yes then the ideal solution is to replace the solenoid
I am using Amsoil 15w 40 disel full Synthetic oil,also my EGR is blancked off.
Rudy Ragoobar glad your using the correct oil, then you need to take to a good workshop and show up for a better inspection, it may have to replace the piston rings for loosing the engine oil. But for the black smoke enemies you blank the EGR the carbon deposits make black smoke as well as please check whether your catholic converter. Surely it must have blocked
Hello Sir,If I remove the Honeycomb from the catalytic converter on my Navara D40 will the engine sound louder and also the exhaust? Is their any issues I will have if I remove the Honeycomb?
The only advantage you will have is stop the engine back pressure and gain more torque and horsepower and exhaust gases to exit their engines much faster and at higher levels. But produce more carbon monoxide

Hi ABC Auto Trendy, My name is nishantha wirasinha. my Nawara 2008 is having black smoke issue + engine oil gets black. mechanic recently removed the turbo unit and closed with a plate it reduced the level of smoke. However still the black some is more. Appreciate if you could advice (1) is it ok to run without the turbo unit (2) how could I stop the black smoke & black oil (3) I am happy if I can show it to you if possible? Apparently he has not blank the turbo as if the turbo blanked it would lose the power of the engine. He might have blank the EGR.
01. First Need to check whether your turbo turbo has excessive oil leak via the intercooler, if so yes the thick black smoke 💨
02. Check the injector pressure test, if the injectors flow rate and back leak more than the expected, it would produce the black smoke as its burning raw fuel
03. If the DPF, silencer clogged with carbon it would have black smoke
04. Also if the intake and EGR clogged with carbon there will be high chances of black smoke.
So if possible bring the vehicle over and we will check and let you know what needs to be done first.

What other areas are effected by blanking of the EGR.
Engine internal heating system, if you decided to blank-plate the EGR then you need to remap and remove the EGR and DPF function from the ECU.

My Navara D40 RHD engine oil level drops,I don't see any oil leaks and does not get any blue smoke,I inspected all around the turbo but it is dry,I get a lot of black smoke when driving off when putting the engine on load,could this be the problem.
The engine starts very good and give no signs of fault maybe a little less power when taking off from hills,please let me know what could be my issue,my millage is 2009K
Rudy Ragoobar good day! First of all may I know what’s the engine oil your using? If your not using the correct engine oil it’s obvious to vaporize the oil within the piston combustion process. (Since you don’t find physical oil leek on the engine bay or around that would be issue) black smoke caused due to the EGR block wherein the exhaust recirculating gets block this also another issue to lower your engine oil. There is a video which I’ve done on how to clean the RGR valve,

Rudy Ragoobar just check the brackets, it may the bolts are loosen, or the inside honeycomb is broken

Hi 2011 d40 black smoke only when take off but higher rpm 3000 or more no smoke
In most of the diesel engines that’s normal, but you can check the function of the turbo and injectors.
Specially if there is a larger flow of fuel in injectors with initial pressure.
@ABC Auto Trendy will be white smoke if is injectors or does that great black smoke aswell is really bad black smoke
There are a few reasons for black smoke and white smokes
Black smoke
01. Bad injectors
02. Bad turbo
02.1 turbo not functioning for a mechanical issue
02.2 turbo may not function because of bad vacuum solenoid
03.3 turbo may not function properly due to bad vacuum supply
04. Bad air cleaner filter
05. Bad or malfunction of air mass sensor
White/blue smoke
01. Turbo failure and internal oil leak
02. Valve seal leak from the cylinder head
03. EGR valve failure (excessive oxygen increase to intake)
02.1 if the intake valve oil seal it may mostly happen on a cold start
If the afr is unplug should it throw a check engine code?
