Easy Step by Step DIY video with simple detail to repair your Plastic Carburetor For FREE. Craftsman Push Lawn Mower with Briggs and Stratton Engine No Start. We also cover checking fire and what to look for when the coil isn't firing. Always check the choke on the plastic carburetors to make sure it is closed when engine is cold.
The plastic carbs that have a primer ball on the air cleaner operate a little different. If it doesn't push fuel from the bowl into the throat of the carburetor it is probably due to a warped air cleaner base not sealing to the carburetor face. This style primer usually has a hole in the center because it just pushes air into the carb bowl forcing fuel up though the main jet tube into the throat of the carb.
Another quick way to check for fire and compression at the same time is to spray some brake cleaner or carb cleaner into the throat of the carb and try to start. If it runs and dies it is a carburetor or fuel issue even possibly water in the fuel.

With the spark plug , I've seen many times the plug would fire outside the engine, but not under compression. When in doubt change. Another interesting and informative video Sir. 😊

Check for water, check fuel lines, pump (if it has one), filter and unscrew the fuel cap to check the breather in cap. Good luck!

I just found your channel. I was looking for help with my Craftsman LT2000. 18.5 HP mower. It's set up for 4 yrs or so. It wonk crank yet. I'm working on it. I've watched some of your videos. New battery. Drained and cleaned the rank. New plug.
It has spark and compression. But won't fire up even with starting fluid.

Hey I picked up a free Craigslist 190cc 1993 brig's and Stratton lawn mower. I checked for compression it was 55psi. I used spark tester and spark plug light came on when i zip tied open the clutch cable to stay open because the linkage cable is bent, so it's not the coil even though its rusty. I already cleaned the carburetor which had green mold inside the carb which I'm assuming it was not started in a long time and had old fuel. But it still won't start with a powerdrill and drill bit since it dont have the puller rope to start. So then I removed the carburetor and added small amount of fuel directly where the carburetor sits and it was shooting flames and some what chugging which was not doing before but it did not sound like it was running. So im confused was it running if it was shooting flames? Does it need a new carb, sparkplug or is timing misaligned?

Hey Tbone I got a question about this engine that you might be able to help with…I cleaned a carb on one engines with the plastic carb and push primer and I push the primer bulb and it won’t start after three pulls. Then push the primer a few more times and it starts right up and runs fine. Any ideas? Valve adjustment?

Most likely the air cleaner base is warped and not pushing fuel from the bowl into the carburetor throat. Use a flashlight looking into carb while pushing primer. Fuel should come into the throat of carburetor thru the small brass tube.

If it was a left outside in the rain or if the gas can used to refill the tank may have had water in it from condensation from poor storage could cause this problem.
