To get a real dose of Marty Friedman's unique style, you two should check out "Valley of Eternity" from his solo album scenes. The entire album is a beautifully relaxing, musical masterpiece and most metal guitarists have never even heard it. The title is a perfect because of the images it paints with your imagination. Marty is such a soulful player and criminally underrated.

YES!! I really appreciate that you searched the internet for an original un mastered version. They are hard to find. All of us hardcore Megadeth fans from the 80s were absolutely livid with the remaster job they did in 2004. It’s universally panned by everyone. I bought it when it was released because my original copy had really low volume when I ripped it to my computer to make mp3s in the late 90s and I figured a remastered copy would sound better but I’ll never forget putting this one and the Peace Sells... But, Who’s Buying? discs into my car stereo and almost throwing them out the window. Anyway, Nick, you’re correct about the vocals on the remasters. Dave Mustaine did re-record some vocals or they used alternate takes from the original sessions because the original master disc from 1990 was either lost or damaged. It’s a long sordid story... also, Mustaine did more or less admit to sabotaging the remasters because Megadeth had been dropped by Capitol records and they still had some contractual obligations so it was kind of a big “F you” to them.
Great reaction as always. Had to wait to watch until I got home from work so it was everything I hoped. 🤘🏼

I 2nd that; I think Nick N Lex would not only be wowed by their music, but by the late-great Warrel Dane on vocals, and Jeff Loomis on guitar (and those who guested in the touring/recording line-ups). Van Williams, the drummer is HIGHLY underrated.
Also, I did not know that Loomis tried out for Megadeth after reading your comment; "And if it were not for Jeff, we possibly may not have ever had -- Marty". As I just found the story on the Wiki page for Jeff Loomis, apparently he was too young to join them, and then saw Cacophony and met Marty and told him about the audition for the next Megadeth line-up. Amazing.
      Blows my mind . . .
Marty Friedman and Jason Becker's band "Cacophony" and their debut ("Speed Metal Symphony" 1987) pre-dates Nevermore's debut album by 8 years, and Friedman's 1st solo album ("Dragon's Kiss) was released in 1988. Its hard to believe Marty is that much older than Loomis. Now Loomis is with Arch Enemy.
      - Nick would LOVE "Conquering Dystopia" from guitarists Loomis and Keith Merrow.

Another great reaction! I love that you two know Jason Becker’s work (Cacophony fans, anyone?). This solo ranks in the top 3 for me (behind David Gilmour in Time and Alex Lifeson in La Villa Strangiato). He really makes you feel it. Dave Mustiane had a great quote “David Gilmour can say more in 3 notes than Yngwie Malmstein can 150, but at least they’re both trying!”. Other great MegaDeth tracks to check out: Rust In Peace: Polaris (has one of the catchiest riffs in metal), Ashes In Your Mouth, The Disintegrators, My Last Words, New World Order, Good Morning Black Friday. Thanks for what you two do!

    When this album debuted . . .
Hardly anyone knew who Marty was, but I had discovered the 2 debut solo albums from Marty and his friend Jason Becker, and their 1st Band album "Cacophony" (as I was and still am, heavily into Technical Metal/Math Metal. I had also heard about Marty Friedman many years before and his band "Hawaii"). So I was ready to see/hear what Marty was going to contribute. Rust in Peace is one of those albums that inspired many to go in that technical direction.
For suggestions off this album; Polaris, Take No Prisoners . . . . and the Holy Grail; "Holy Wars". Another fave track, because how Mustaine sings/"talks" in a unique way; "Sweating Bullets" from Countdown to Extinction. That guitar solo, its gotta' be in my Top 10 guitar solos of all time.
Yet another 2 requests, not from the "Big 4" but the bands I moved onto who were progressing the Thrash genre (which I could name many), from the Bay Area Thrash scene; *Forbidden* - Parting of the Ways/Infinite, or Forbidden Evil. And from Germany, the Teutonic giants; *Kreator* - As the Sun Burns Red, or Betrayer. Both band tracks have astounding solos, and songs that were technical but still retains the aggressive Thrash song structure.
    \m/

If you dont mind getting a little more into harsh and underground territory, Sylosis, Revocation, Havok, Vektor, Voivod, Watchtower, Coroner, Annihilator, Anacrusis, Toxik, Mekong Delta. instrumentally all very great bands.

You guy's don't have to pause the songs at all, you know. Look at Andy & Alex, reviewers like your selves... they never pause any songs and very rarely get their video's taken down. And when they do, they post them on their Patreon channel, where you have the freedom to post any song or video without threat of being taken down and to where you can charge $1 to $5 a month for your subscribers and actually make money at what you love to do. You should also do some research on the bands you're going to review. Like Steely Dan... you did chose a couple of good songs, however, Steely Dan was very popular in the states and had several top 20 hits including :Reelin' in the Years, Do it Again, Rikki Don't Lose That Number..l to name a few. Steely Dan is really two guy's, Donald Fagen (vocals, keyboards) and the late Walter Becker. They hired studio musicians to record and tour. They were perfectionists. They have many more hits. Btw, Steely Dan is the name of a sex toy... look it up! Hi, my name is Jay. I lived through the 70's and went to many concerts of the bands you are now reviewing. I was one of the lucky few that got to see Rush, in concert, play a 4 hour show, because their opening band never showed up. One can certainly say that Dave has always had a penchant for putting his political views within his lyrics a lot of times. Which, in Metal during the 80's and early 90's, was pretty much non-existent. Lol, people just didn't bother to "catch" a lot of what the message was...it kinda blew past you.
