    During The quest “In Hushed Whispers” there is a mage in the tavern named Linnea. She will recognize a human mage inquisitor though your inquisitor won’t recognize them. She’s not surprised by this and says that you were always the “perfect apprentice” while she barely passed her harrowing.

      It was really disappointing picking Cullen thinking that him having the fastest time meant he was best suited for the job, as is the case in other games with similar features, only to find out that choice not only denied me the entire subsequent chain, but even being able to find out anything had happened to my clan at all. Since I tend to think of Dalish elves as likely wanting to return home after their adventure is over, this was a really poor turn of events. I would have liked for it to be a fully fledged quest that the characters all properly interact with and respond to.

    The human Inquisitor's noble background helped me a lot in dealing with having party members. Usually my RPG characters go it alone for fear of endangering others. But I figured that my Inquisitor, like most Medieval nobility, would've been raised to leadership in war. Therefore he was used to the idea of losing people under his command. Very different than, say, my Dragonborn from Skyrim.
    Also helpful was some early dialogue I picked: "I say we charge. Whatever happens, happens now." I didn't learn the family motto until later and I was pleased that my choice went along with that. I also had a habit of picking the nicest possible dialogue choice until it was time to fight. Then the verbal knives would come out along with the sword. (I loved pulling the rug out from Corypheus, after three straight choices of buttering him up, once the flare went up.)
    Also helpful was that I was watching the Korean fantasy series "Kingdom" at the time. The principal character in that series, a Prince whose first war proves to be a war against the Undead, would make a great Trevelyan.

      Same here with my noble! I also do the same with my Qunari background, a mercenary used to working with an efficient, tight-knit group but new to being the leader of one which leads to a hurdle after reaching haven, and my Elven mage, they were being trained to be the next keeper of a clan so they know a lot about leadership and then finally get to put it to use as the inquisitor, an even bigger station than they were trained for.

    The Lavellan questline is a bit tricky but I find if you read all the letters and advisors carefully you'll be okay. If the letters and your advisors directly advocate against a course of action, don't do it. Cullen is only appropriate for the final mission, protect Clan Lavellan and Wycome. And you can use him to Protect Clan Lavellan in the beginning. Otherwise it's *only* Josephine and Leliana and it's fairly clear which to use, because either the letter writers or one of the advisors themselves will advocate directly *against* a course of action.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 6 лет назад +25

      And regardless of your actions in DA:O, Fereldan banns betray the elves by refusing to accept the King/Queen's request and the Dalish are still hiding in the forests of Ferelden. And there's no way to overturn the Bannorn's refusal because they actually have absolute power over their lands and even have the power to overthrow the King. So yeah, Elves king of got fucked out of their supposed reward. In a similar vein the Circle of Magi's reward also got a big "nope" by the Chantry and the reward given to the city elves went to shit because Denerim citizens began fighting with the elves and a small conflict erupted, leading to the possible death of the appointed representative of the elves.
      In contrast in Inquisition you get an actual followup in Trespasser where Varric confirms that Clan Lavellan are still living in Wycome and Kirkwall are providing them protection so that the other Free Marcher cities don't take advantage of Wycome and the Clan.

      @@chipmunck2903 It's never explicitly stated but Cousland presumably dies with their parents at the end of the Origin, as Fergus is the only Cousland left. Mahariel dies of the Blight (Merrill will mention this in DA2). Amell/Surana is the most vague but the events of the Origin definitely still happen since Jowan is in Redcliffe. So Amell/Surana is either arrested if they helped Jowan or dies during Broken Circle is they told on him. Aeducan (and Aeducan is always a dude if not chosen as the PC) is exiled to the Deep Roads and so presumably dies there with Duncan to rescue him. Brosca you can find, and starves to death in prison. Given that you find Soris in the dungeons of the estate in non City Elf playthroughs, it seems that Tabris dies in the assault on the castle (since Duncan is the one who gives the player decent equipment, presumably they weren't well armed enough and died).

    Regarding the pronouns used for the leader of Clan Lavellan - it's entirely possible that the Keeper is genderfluid, of course - but also possible that Lieutenant Rozellene Chambreterre knows nothing about Dalish social structures. The Lieutenant is probably human (therefore Andrastian) and clearly is military. The circumstances by which they met Clan Lavellan were rather violent, so I suspect the clan's warleader was involved. If the warleader was male that explains the Lieutenant's report to Cullen. They might not have recognized a mage as being someone who would hold a leadership role and may have mistakenly identified the Lavellan warleader as the de facto leader of the entire clan.

    • @yang6642
      @yang6642 4 года назад +2

      Warden - probably either a male human noble who romanced Morrigan or a female Dalish elf who romanced Alistair
      Hawke - probably either a female rogue who romanced Anders or a male mage who romanced Isabela
      Inquisitor - this is where it gets a little tricky, the game was designed for a human protagonist but their class is a bit hard, I’m willing to say either male warrior who romanced Cassandra or female rogue who romanced Cullen, you can bend the rules a bit to make it a female Dalish elf who romanced Solas though

    • @leone6888

      @@yang6642 Thank you for your response! Is there an acctuall statement from Bioware to that? I can understand that the story wants Morrigan to get that child, but the rest sound rather arbitrary.

    • @yang6642
      @yang6642 4 года назад +2

      Leila Wink Many paragraphs incoming, just so you’re aware lol
      BioWare haven’t stated anything about any of them but we can piece together each little detail by playing through each game, seeing which class makes the most sense, which romance seems to make the most sense etc.
      For Origins I do believe that the proper canon Warden is the male human noble who romanced Morrigan because of the connection to Arl Howe and Nathaniel Howe in Awakening, Kieran being a human regardless of your Wardens race and the whole Witch Hunt dlc makes the most sense if the Warden was a man who romanced Morrigan.
      For the female Dalish elf I thought that it would also work because you have the connection to the Eluvian from Witch Hunt, the romance with Alistair, hardening him, making him rule Fereldan with Anora and breaking up with him, whether it be by sparing Loghain or just putting him on the throne and watching him end the romance, I think it makes a great parallel to the novel ‘The Stolen Throne’ which tells the story of how Loghain met King Maric (Alistair’s father), how their friendship went and the drama that came along with it, near the end (at least I think it’s the end) Loghain actually hardens Maric by making him end his romance with Katriel, Maric’s elven lover, obviously it’s different because Katriel was a spy working for the Orlesian’s and Maric killed her and you know how Origins can go. It also mirrors the novel because in said novel Loghain is romantically involved with Rowan, who would later become Maric’s wife and King Cailan’s mother, Loghain actually breaks their romance off and tells her that she needs to become Maric’s queen for the good of Fereldan, which can mirror the female elf making Alistair marry Anora.
      For DA2 the female rogue who romanced Anders works because Anders is the one companion in that game who doesn’t romance another companion, he’s attracted to Hawke right off the bat, after sleeping with him for the first time and asking him to move in he asks “would you tell the knight commander that you love an apostate and will stand beside him?” This question only makes proper sense if Hawke isn’t a mage, I feel like the warrior Hawke is more inclined to side with the Templar’s whereas the mage Hawke is more willing to side with the mages while the rogue Hawke is just stuck in the middle, which sums up Hawke pretty damn well in DA2’s story. The song ‘Mage Pride’ can apparently be seen as Anders’ theme song and it is sung from both Anders and Hawke’s perspectives, the pronouns are apparently female so it’s has Anders questioning why he and other mages are denied many rights and female Hawke is telling him that she loves him either way and that he should feel no shame for being who he is.
      Male mage Hawke romancing Isabela can work because the brotherly relationship or rivalry with Carver is pretty good and Carver becomes a much better character if Hawke seeks out his approval and friendship and gives him to the Grey Wardens. Plus the male mage was the one shown the most in the trailers and Isabela’s romance is one of my favourites.
      As for DAI, I think male warrior Trevelyan romancing Cassandra works as canon because Cassandra, Cullen and Solas don’t romance anyone else and Cassandra has the most plot significance to Inquisition’s story out of all the companions (the elven stuff isn’t the main focus of the story, sorry Solas).
      Female rogue Trevalyan romancing Cullen also works because being the herald of Andraste seems to flow best as a woman imo because Andraste was also a woman and because of the matriarchal nature of the Chantry which the Inquisition is directly tied to.
      Female Dalish elf romancing Solas may also work if we’re gonna bend the rules a bit here because of Solas’ major connection to the story and the whole tragedy of it, personally I think Solas’ friendship with a human is better but that’s just me.

      @yang6642 4 года назад +1

      Leila Wink You are very much welcome! Obviously BioWare want us to make our own personal canon’s for the story but certain bits just make much more sense than others, these were just a few conclusions that I came to after playing through each game multiple times and doing additional little bits of research and I think each one makes sense.
      Oh I also I missed out another potential canon Warden for Origins: a male warrior Dwarf Noble, this origin gives you the biggest connection to Orzammar, it makes the final choice between who should rule Orzammar that much better and the dwarves are the ones who fight darkspawn the most so why not have one take on the archdemon?
      Have fun influencing your friends with any findings you make in future playthrough’s!
