Wizards and Warriors starts a new animated fantasy documentary lore video series on the world of Dragon Age. In the waning years of the Blessed Age, reptilian wings blanketed the sun. Dragons, thought to have been hunted to extinction centuries earlier, reappeared in the skies above the world of men and devastated the countryside of Orlais and Nevarra. Reading this as an epochal omen, Faustine II, Divine of the Chantry, declared a new age: the Dragon Age, which in her holy wisdom, she predicted would be a time of violence, upheaval, and dramatic change. Thus begins the period in which the titularly named Dragon Age games take place, yet this is not where the history of its world begins. In our first video we talked on the vibrant and tumultuous continent of Thedas, explored the immortal hubris of ancient Elvhenan, and the rise of the Blood Mages of Tevinter ( • Fall of Elvhenan - Ris... ), while the second episode described how these mages brought the Blight upon the world and how the First Blight started ( • How the Blights Starte... ). The third episode will talk about the religious and political response as prophetess Andraste and her husband Maferath declare war against the Tevinter Empire and lead an Exalted March against it, changing the Thedas forever ( • Rise of Andraste - Exa... ). Andraste's death made her a martyr, allowing her Chantry to take over the whole of Thedas ( • How the Chantry took o... ). The confluence of these events allowed the humans to continue growing in power and led by the Chantry they were able to conquer the elves, destroying their homeland - the Dales.

I personally (and this is just my opinion) feel like it has the depth of a twilight saga and is deep into the "lame" category when it comes to its story arc. A few people around here like it. But, I would there is limited production schedule for the producers of this channel and if you go back and look, the viewership on the mistborn / cosmere stuff just isn't worth the time when they could invest in something more people enjoy and is actually interesting. This is a great channel and I won't bail on it by any means, but to wait a whole week, excited about what WaW will put out next and it being ends up being Cosmere stuff is the equivalent to a secret decoder ring telling me to drink more Ovaltine.

Honestly I don't believe there's any reason to doubt the validity of what Solas says about them. He changed the fabric of the world to imprison them with the only one he speaks highly of being Mythal.
He has no reason to lie after his true identity becomes clear and even before that he (at best) omitted truths rather than lie outright. I don't think its a matter of perspective either. The Evanuris oppressed everyone else, made slaves of many and hoarded power which are evil, tyrannical acts akin to Tevinter.
Perhaps some of the Evanuris were not completely evil. They may have been morally grey like Solas but as I said, his extreme actions against them implies they were a force that had to be contained if not destroyed.

    • @ConnorLonergan

It's confirmed that the Evenuris enslaved elves, and we have records documenting slaying titans for lyrium and something else. Not to mention, they publicly proclaimed themselves to be gods. So I would say they are as evil as Solas says, or at least damn close to it.

But both sides wanted to fight so that's exactly what happened and it ended badly for both but... I think the elves got it worse. Being a leader means punishing your own people for stepping out of line and both the elves and humans failed in their responsibilities.
I also put particular blame on the elves for not helping during the blight as the darkspawn would have killed the elves too once they finished off the others. The failure of the elven leadership to see the existential threat the darkspawn posed is their greatest failing and its no wonder the other peoples of Thedas questioned the elves' honor afterwards.

Doing nothing while your neighbor got attack by a horde of evil creatures with a massive dragon is not only a dick move but a stupid one. With all the Elven wisdom of old their suppose to have, None of the elves ever think about what's going to happen if Orlais fall? Attacking the enemy capital is one thing, Sacking and plundering their founding father's tomb before take his stuff back home and displayed as a trophies? Well then... What goes around comes around.

They were looking out for their own self interest, same as humans. The whole continent used to be ruled by elves until humans invaded and enslaved them, so being reluctant to get involved in human issues is very reasonable.
It was the belligerent humans who couldn't leave well enough alone. They were the ones trying to force their religion on the elves and when turned away peacefully, came back with weapons and spreading vicious rumors. Is it any wonder the elves became isolationist? And during the Blight, which the humans are the root causes of, the elves were under no obligation to die defending someone else's land.
Because the elves put themselves first, the humans then murdered an unarmed elf woman simply for crossing a border... humans started this, not the elves. And all this conflict really accomplished was proving the elves to be right in not trusting humans. If anything, they should have established their kingdoms further away from the humans.
