Zev is such a cool character. His interactions with Dorian would be most gregarious and risqué. And more laughter than most humans could handle. 😂🤣🤘🏼
I live for the idea of someday having a Dorian-Fenris-Zevran-party to take along on an adventure. Just imagine the awkwardness and sass in that party xD It would be amazing!

Theory: Zevran is like a cat and a possum. He's got nine lives and knows how to play dead.
So... The fact that they shoved Zevran's laugh into DAI utterly screwed me up while playing. EVERY TIME I HEARD IT I thought "Zev!" And then remembered "Oh yeah, he's not here. $&@(!?# game!"
I remember hearing it in the Hinterlands and swerving my camera around like some sort of hyper excited puppy.
Same sorta... I kept thinking, "Faendal is that you?" The voice actor, Jon Curry is rather prolific. As covered in the video, he's done some background voices as well as voice the American Male Inquisitor. He's also done work in Skyrim as Faendal and various characters in ESO along with Gideon Emery's (Fenris) voice. You can find Gideon singing in Vivec City and I'm sure Jon is singing somewhere in the MMO too. :)

I once put Zevran's approval meter as: Zevran doesn't really care what you do, as long as he can watch your arse while you do it.
Rogues in DAO literally have the talent to play dead lol I always recruit and befriend him but I like to think that if you kill him, he just plays dead and escapes after you leave.

Zevran is my all time favorite romance, I love him so much. I sometimes plan on romancing someone else but as soon as I wake him up after fighting him I just can't resist. I just love him as a character, he is so well written and funny and handsome. I could talk about my love for zevran all day ngl

Obviously, the glitches are technology's way of telling us all that Zevran always succeeds - even if you think you killed him. He's too lucky to not glitch back to life.
Also: Yay, a Zevran episode! I've been waiting forever for that! Just reading that letter for the Warden made me giggle like a stupidly in love school girl xD

Now I remember why I always chose to romance him instead of Allistair - (whom I chose my first playthrough). The other dozen times was Zev.

His romance with a female city elf is so tender. He has some unique dialogue based on her origin and they have a kinship based on their mutual abuse (especially sexual) at the hands of and to the benefit of humans
Romanced Zevran in DAO, then in DA2 romanced Anders. My Hawke then did it with Zevran, while ANDERS was in my party witnessing it, and got no loss of approval. That games was really really glitched.
I didn't even know it could have been an option but Fenris (who broke up with my Hawke) got defensive and I was like, "Babe, you broke up with him! You can't just get possessive when we're not a thing!"
In my playthrough, my Warden has an open relationship with Zevran (because my Warden didn't want or need Zevran to change for him) so Zevran hitting on Hawke and Isabela was in-character. Still wish Zevran could've done it with Hawke.
Zevran over here trying to catch 'em all with the heroes. Warden? Check. Hawke? Check. Inquisitior? Eyes on that booty!
I hated that the end of Origins stated that Zevran remained with the warden only to see no sign of him in the Awakening expansion.
Still my absolute favorite companion and romance in the series, he has so much depth beyond what he presents on the surface.
I especially love how he discusses being bisexual and his preferences with the warden regardless of the warden's gender, it feels very real and is a great acknowledgement of his bisexuality being an important part of who he is regardless of who he's dating; unlike the very Yikes way it was handled with Anders and Karl in DA2 and Gaider wanting female players to be able to read Anders as straight. Just a fantastic character all around, I miss him and really hope he makes an appearance in DA4
Edit: I made a slight error here: this was actually a decision made by Anders writer Jennifer Hepler that Gaider signed off on and defended, not his initial choice. Apparently Jennifer Hepler decided Anders wouldn't be comfortable mentioning it to a female Hawke because women statistically find bisexual men less attractive and Gaider agreed. Thus there being no evidence of Anders sexuality with a female Hawke. Still a disappointing decision regardless, I hope we can have bi and pansexual romances frankly discussing their sexuality again in future games.

I had actually prefer mHawke and Anders romance much better. It had felt much more natural romance build with more openness and flirty Anders towards mHawke for me. I love Anders who flirts with mHawke who had never considered romance with man instead of pushing him totally away from start like he did with fHawke. Anders had held more being equal partner in loving supporter with mHawke to me instead of unequal partner in his protective defender attitude that fHawke had received when she is equally powerful herself to him.
Gaider also confirmed that Bull and Dorian end up having a happier and healthier relationship than their relationship with the Inquisitor. He's more than happy to throw his fellow gay men away in order to do what he wants. Zevran I will admit is one of those. He wrote Zevran to be gay yet his writing feels like the opposite. The way Zevran is presented it feels like his bisexuality is more a choice cause of his upbringing rather than him actually being bi.
I sadly missed interacting with Zev on my first play through cause I killed him when he first attacked my warden. I was new to gaming and these types of games at the time so didn’t know he could have been a companion. Sad day!

Ah Zev! Had this plan to romance the dorky Alistair but zevran said he thought my warden was strong and beautiful... I have never successfully romanced anyone else regardless of the warden (they all work with him!)

It's such a shame that lots of World of Thedas background given to Zevran directly contradicts what Zevran says in the game. Instead of expanding on his past, they chose to retcon it, robbing it from it's tragic overtones :(

I love this man. He's my #1 romance option in Origins. I'm currently playing Origins modded on PC.
The problem I had with Zevran is that I accidentally got him in a relationship and when I told him no he got pissed and then betrayed me shortly after. Telling no him completely tanked his approval rating. I had a similar situation with Leliana, but it’s only happened once. She kept asking me to her tent and I told her no repeatedly and then all of a sudden sex scene.
Zevran was my original Warden's romance choice (though I'm not sure I successfully completed the romance, it's been too long), and watching this one made me really want to start a new file.
Zevran is too lucky a bastard to die. That's why he keeps coming back.
I always wondered why i never got that war table mission. Now I know, I married that boy so he was busy with my Warden. lol
First time playing as a dwarf commoner I had that exact thing happen with Zevran. No idea I was dating him until Morrigan got mad at me.
Zev is so good at infiltrading and lucky that even Bioware can't kill him!

I romanced Alistair my first playthrough, and on my second decided to romance Zev. I love my pervy assassin and will never look back.

theory: I think Zevran showing up even if he is supposed to be dead is completely intentional. They want him to stay around but they want people to keep wondering instead of using retcon to justify it.

I started to play da:o once again and romancing zevran once again as well, I always romance him fully and never truly slept with him until near the end to have a more emotional romance rather then a physical one, where we become friends first. I dont know why but this time I'm going to be more physical and I feel dirty lol. I always try to romance Alistair but I always get swooped by Zevran.( I also accidentally romance Morrigan??)
Ah! Tell me about it... I just did a play trying to romance Lelliana, and I ended up getting involved in a mess with Zev and Alistar too... I had to break up with Zev twice, it broke my heart to do it and it was not even worth it, the Lelliana story felt pretty meh!

The thing about the elf blooded folks is that some of them still have very elven features (with the face structure etc) so it's possible that, while lacking the pointed ears, that Rena maybe just looked a lot like her elven mother?

if you bring him in as a follower it is implied that your invoking the treaties and thus if your able to you were going to force him to take the joining but along the line of the story you see he would be better suited to serve the greater good from outside the wardens and thus at the end of the game he is not forced to join

I know how you can kill Zev outside of his intro and Talisen showing up.
Be a jerk to him till his approval bottoms out, he tells you he's leaving. With the right choices you can fight him and kill him when this happens. There's a similar option with Oghren. Haven't done it myself but I've seen it in a compilation of all the Murder-Knife kills I believe.
Zev is one of the best chars in all games!

I never played played DA:O and never interacted with Zevran during DA:II, but he showed up in the final battle against Meredith.

he will leave at a point after the first 2 allies are got if he really really hates you and i mean hates he has to of been given all of the gift items to make your char so disliked that he wont even speak to you in camp only got this to trigger once but he leaves when first going to talk about the landsmeet in redcliffe
I could be wrong but I thought there was dialogue in either origins or 2 that Zev knew of a poison to fake his death? I remember killing the first time I met him and he showed up in denerim once I got there and the ambush happened. I do recall also once that this didn’t happen under the same circumstances so idk if it’s a bug or got patched and I’m sure that saved game is long gone

Legit Zev's been my head-cannon romance for just about every Warden I've made. My favorite is going for either a larger than life City-Elf Rouge/Warrior (i.e. being charitable and doing everything as casually and proudly as possible) or a (Dalish/City-Elf?) Mage who is timid but appreciates Zeveran for his forwardness.
Not fond of playing female wardens unless I'm playing as a Dwarf warrior (any background) since I really, really love being a tougher-than-nails dwarf that ribs the frick out of everyone while pummeling all your enemies head on. Otherwise on occasion a human female mage (idkw but being a noble weirds me out lol). I just can never get behind romancing the others. Although I did made a super f'ed up World State where I...
1.) Romance Leliana
2.) Killed Marjolaine w/ Leliana
3.) Killed Leliana after poisoning the Urn
4.) Made Alistair and Anora rule
5.) Had Loghain have a child with Morrigan and kill the Archdemon
Legit felt like I made a DLC with that World State lol
But yeah. My general choice is a male city-elf rogue that I like to think brings the best out in everyone. Always friends with Morrigan/Alistair/Leliana/Shale/Wynne/ and Sten while being almost exclusively with Zevran. (Yes, I left Oghren out on purpose.)
I really tend to gravitate to brutally honest or just super lively companions in my games. Like I could only imagine having Zevran, Vivienne, and Dorian in my party-- it would be a complete and utter mess and I'd love every second of it lol

Zevran is such a conscienceless bastard. He is the only character in all of DA that I have never liked. Not saying he isn't well written though.
Tolerated Zevran my first playthrough of Origins.
He wasn't around for my second. It was nice.
I slit Zev's neck 80% of the time without waking him up in Origins. See yah!
