Sorry I had no choice in putting photos along side of video, if I didn't the upload would be blocked by youtube, the only way to get it on for you to enjoy
I just want to pass along my thanks to you for doing this. Inasmuch as certain people blocking what I consider to be free speech in favor of money I hope that they rot in hell! I mean what type of uneducated jackass would try and deprive people from seeing one of the best ever (Roger Waters) perform. Certainly I would be more than happy to see him if he came to Austin , Tx......but he does not come here so much. So I keep my eyes and ears on youtube in the hope I can see something great.
Thanks very much, HDPinkFloyd, for posting this. Saw this show/tour in Dallas TX in 2000. Was incredible. Stellar performances by the band. And the sound and mix is great. I have a band playing the Animals album at a local show in November, (on a much smaller scale!) and this clip is very insightful. Thanks again!
My favorite Floyd song...came out my senior year in HS.......it speaks to me of the cruelty of the corporate world.....I left with knives in my back.....started my own business....now over 20 years of success.....I play this song as a reminder of breaking away from those bastards......
You got that right brother. It might be why David Gilmore has left this song out of his live songs. Both David Gilmour and Roger Waters have utmost respect for Jon Carin. Jon is lights out on this one!
Agree that David wisely left this song to Roger. To me David’s rendition of Echoes on Live In Gdańsk (with Richard Wright, Jon Carin, Guy Pratt and some other marvellous musicians) is on par with this wonder, as well as Nick Mason’s version of A Saucerful of Secrets almost two decades later.
That's his name? I have not encountered him before. He's playing Dick Dale tuning, guitar upside down stringwise , but the body up the right way (as in Dick Dale's guitar "Beauty") but the neck on the wrong way (as in Dick Dale's guitar "The Beast") Clearly this man is one of those Uber Talents who sings flawlessly and just knows what every fret will give him whatever the setup with total confidence. And hence, people build him unorthadox guitars just to see what he'll do with them. Who am I kidding....he builds them himself right? I bet he does.
if you look closely Doyle is a lefty playing a righty guutar like off the rack, apparently he learned to play guitar like this... crazy.. i saw this shownon tour; his band is alway a trained kill squad of assasin musicians. fuck up on stage, Roger hands you a knife amd says you know what to do (hes taking 1st joint if your pinky, fuck uo again its your thumb!!!)
I read this song aloud in class one day and got an applause. I also got an A for it. My teacher Miss Young said it was VERY good! That was back in 1985.
Doyle is obviously playing the solo in the lines of Gilmour but he’s not trying to be him for a second and still creating the perfect vibe. Absolutely genius!
Upside down and backwards Doyle on red strat. Very few of us play this way. I do. Doyle gives me a run for my money. Great lead and he is Clapton's rhythm player not to shabby of a gig. I am greenwithenvydoyle
P s. Chris let me write this reply I am guitar Steve from Detroit upside down and backwards kinda like Doyle just not famous yet I was John fives bassist in 83 84 85
"Who was born in a house full of pain Who was trained not to spit in the fan Who was told what to do by the man Who was broken by trained personnel Who was fitted with collar and chain Who was given a pat on the back Who was breaking away from the pack Who was only a stranger at home Who was ground down in the end Who was found dead on the phone Who was dragged down by the stone."
The double track on this verse (the background vocal you can hear as he sings it) is the lip sync playback track on his 2017-18 US and Them tour, 16 years after this was recorded.
That's the best thing I've seen Roger do since Pros and Cons. Best band he's had - Roger himself on bass, not too splashy on the drums and *RED ALERT RED ALERT* fantastic guitar solos for once - Doyle Bramhall II makes an absolutey standout contribution.
I remember when this album came out I was 14 and listened to it on headphones at night, and was mesmerized and lost in the awesome music. It's still my favorite Pink Floyd album of all time.
I remember being 15 in the Christmas of 2010 and my uncle’s gift to me was the Animals CD. Just like you I was so immersed in the music and this song was my absolute favorite to dream to.
one of my favorite songs from Pink, and the best live performance a ever heard, Doyle Abraham II what a fucking good guitar man, just look at it while he do it
Jon Carin simply nailed it! Nailed IT! That is one very hard song to sing just right, and he did it. Perfectly. Man, props for that big time. Then we can get to the absolutely superb job Doyle and Snowy did on the guitars. Jeez, what an outstanding rendition of the song. You could not have asked for a better job. I was transfixed.
Amazing version of one of the best songs ever. Doyle plays incredibly well and Jon, what a talent! Vocals, Acoustic guitar and synth solo, everything is top notch!
Well... I don't really think this is a "version" of Dogs. Doyle is playing his parts following the original Gilmour's solos... Which is unfortunate, there's very little room for him to show what a hell of a player he is. I guess Waters learnt his lesson back in the day, when he hired Clapton to play on his tour -and you don't tell Clapton to reproduce Gilmour's solos! So, this time around, he hired Doyle to do just that. After all, he's a pro. As for Snowy, I'm sure he didn't mind playing just like he did with Gilmour and the Floyd, back in '77.
I found this clip tonight several hours ago and I can't stop playing it. This must be the song I listen to of all my favorites. Was a great concert in Dallas. Fantastic job. The lead guitars were amazing also.
My favourite Pink Floyd song of all time, so dark and mesmerizing ...I always though with Roger Waters shows and the rest of Pink Floyd shows you get the best of both worlds two almost completely different Pink Floyd shows. I have this DVD awesome stuff
My Favorite Double Lead of all time and I feel Doyle captures DG's feel beautifully in his solo's (hard for me to say that as DG is one of my absolute favorites) .
I must say that I cried when Roger left Pink Floyd, but after that most of his concerts were The Wall. Yet Pink Floyd continued on. Touring the world over and over. I saw them with Roger, starting Wish You Were Here. Went to all their live shows even after Roger left. The special affects kept getting better. I consider myself lucky to have been a fan of Pink Floyd since their Meddle album.
Doyle Abraham II should never left this band, he is such a great guitarrist. Get a Richie Kotzen feeling from him, with a little SRV, Hendrix, all that good stuff packed in one player. Just awesome.
Truly a really nice version, the studio version for me is the second after this one cuz has (or had? I talk spanish only, such a bad english xD) that magic from 77' and is the version that everyone surely listen first, is kinda special expierence, how usually people says "The first time will never be forget".
well I fell in love with Dogs then I discovered the Gotta be Crazy demo version xD about Waters and Gilmour I believe it's just dumb to say one it's better than Another. they both have such pure and peculiar talent in they're own particular away. plus they together build the classic Pink Floyd and should not be evaluated in this way. this is why Pink Floyd is so beautiful. it varies. It has mAterial for everyone and every feeling or necessity. so we should be thankful for it's diversity and accept the brilliance of both this members, a brilliance that's brilliant in they're unique way
Notice Andy Fairweather smile during the solo .. he smiles also at the same solo at the end. Pure ear ecstasy .. perfectly executed lead guitar harmony.
Doyle Bramhall Sr. was an excellent drummer - singer who played with Stevie Ray Vaughan in the very early days and also co- wrote many of SRV’s hits...Doyle jr. was also close to Stevie and as I see here learned how to play a Fender Strat in the SRV style..Doyle landed his first gig at 18 years old in 1984 playing with Jimmy Lee Vaughan in the Fabulous Thunderbirds and has been bending strings ever since....impressive
I bought my first Floyd album because I heard it on a TV show called WKRP in Cincinnati. They just played a few seconds of a song with dogs barking and said it was Pink Floyd. It was so different that what I was hearing on the radio at the time. I went to the local record store and saw a Pink Floyd album called "Animals" with a song called "Dogs". All I can say is that this lineup is fantastic. John Carin is amazing. The guitar lineup of Andy Fairweather Low, Snowy White, and Doyle Bramhall is otherworldly.

That schtick never sat well with me. It seemed like an obvious disrespectful jab at what the Floyd did-“everything in between the lyrics is filler, the audience is bored just waiting for these tedious musical bits to end,” right, Rog?-and a little disrespectful to what Jon was doing *literally right frakking then*. This show was best enjoyed on CD. Having liked that, when I subsequently bought the DVD, I found it highly offputting.

He sounds like he is missing the other three members and they sound like they are missing him. It's a tragedy that he was such a collasal dick head that he basically destroyed the band. Having said that High Hopes is basically as good as any 70s Floyd.
I've listened to this many times. It's one of my favorites. I took me many times over to realize Doyle was playing left handed. Thank You for sharing this video and many others!

Jon Carin: Sings David's parts when he plays with Roger

Jon Carin kills it here, one of my favorite versions of Dogs

He sounds just like the record
Meraviglioso Roger...😊😍😘🎶🎸🎶💘💓💋💯💯💯
In my opinion Animals is PF's best work. And the last one with all the member's real presence.
best lyrics , best gilmour , best floyd !!
Agreed.
what? The Wall was released after and all were there.
That's correct, but The Wall's almost completely created by Roger, and performed by many other musicians.
For me, Dark side of the moon is the best. It's a matter of opinions.
Dogs is a masterpiece. Jon Carin sang David’s party flawlessly. Good stuff. Doyle Brahmhall did an amazing job on guitar as well Loved this.

Yea, he is playing a right handed guitar upside down. Unbelievable!
Jon Carin doesn't get the credit he deserves.. He is definitely multi-talented!
Summer Geiser yes he does!!!!
I love Jon. And he does a fantastic job here!

Doyle Bramhall's playing is nothing short of amazing here. Perfect tone, insane control of the instrument.

John Carin remarcable. I remember his “state of the Nation”. He was already immense.
Rogers band did a great job on this concert. This was the first time I'd ever heard of Andy Fairweatherlow. Another excellent musician.
+Lee Ross Agree, the best Waters concert he has ever done
I was there, 2007, incredible concert, Roger pointed at us because we sang this like mad and our neighbours didn't, plus that we were at the fence.
Jon Carin is incredible. Brilliant guitarist, a keyboard genius and his voice is like honey. No wonder Roger wants him on tour.
The bass guitar at 6:27 ... goosebumps... literally the legend ..Roger water

It's a tragedy that he was such a collasal dick head that he basically destroyed the band.
Having said that High Hopes is basically as good as any 70s Floyd.
Loving the Jon Carin lead vocals. Very effective with this particular track.
I've listened to this many times. It's one of my favorites. I took me many times over to realize Doyle was playing left handed. Thank You for sharing this video and many others!
thanks, the best live version of Dogs, and I love the musicians he had
Jon Carin smashing this on vocals / guitar AND Synth! Brilliant job.
I saw Roger Waters in Melbourne 2 nights ago, John Carin master of synths.
Multi-instrumentalist.
