Great video! Great analogies. Though I must say that I was a little disappointed that you didn't talk about black rice as that is what you have pictured.
Thanks for pointing that out. Sorry I forgot to include that! " The Forbidden" Black rice has more fiber, protein and iron than brown rice and much more antioxidants like anthocyanins and lutein and zeaanthin that are essential for eye health. However it still collects just as much arsenic as the other rice grains. I'll have to include that in a gluten free video. Thanks!

Dear doctor, I’ve just discovered your channel and immediately subscribed; you are God sent 🙏🏼. 62 and recently retired, heart-attack 2 years ago (blocked veins and it runs in the family, only a sister and I left alive 😢). Had lost weight during the pandemic (40+ lbs, exercise + portion control) and then when believed to be at my healthiest, boom… a heart attack. I used to read labels but was mostly focused on carbs and calories intake… a bit fuzzy about trans and sat fats, lover of bread and a sweet tooth. Baffled by how my moderate exercise routine is no longer producing the results it used to (metabolism?!). Too much to share and not enough time. I woke up today and immediately changed my dry fried egg routine to only egg whites (which I used to do before) and was happy to see that my ‘Seedtastict’ Aldi brand bread does have a fiber content that when x 4 is exactly the amount of carbs, and it does have the whole grain label. 🎉 Plz don’t stop what you’re doing👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼For the sake of those like myself. 👍🏼🤗
I think when you first parboil the brown rice and wash it out to reduce the starch then finalky cook it, is ok to consume. I do the same with white rice. Pre boil white rice wash to reduce starch then cook and freez it. Reheat when ready to eat
Absolutely love this video, but please cover wild, red, purple, amd black rice in another video. From what I understand, these varieties have quite a bit of nutrition, fibre, and much lower concentrations of arsenic. If I do rice at home, these are the ones I've been cooking with. They also taste wonderful.
Thank you for this very informative video. It takes away the guilty feeling when I have rice. I will use your guidance to prepare and all that, to make it better for me. I love videos like this one!

Acetic acid in vinegar elevates and enzyme called AMP Kinase to help activate glucose processing and decreases fat synthesis. You can also do this by walking after you eat carbs.
Here in the PHILIPPINES we also have the option of black and red rice organically grown. The PH actually imports a lot of rice from India, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Is there any scientific papers for this? When you eat carbo like rice, it will get converted to glucose in your body, so what does any extra glucose your body don't need gets converted to? Fats? Perhaps you should go debate Prof Bart Kay on nutrition.
Thanks for the informative video. I never ate rice as a child so I don't really like it that much but the information you presented gave me a better understanding of the pros and cons of eating either brown rice or white rice.
I started to soak the rice a while ago, even if it's time consuming, the taste is so much better that I didn't stop. I make sure to soak it at least 30 min. then dump the water. I prefer soaking 1 night. it's also useful to get rid of phytic acid in all grains and nuts.
New subscriber. Love your channel! Why no mention of Black, Purple, or Red rice? I've heard they're the healthiest forms and have started using black rice. I soak it with Himalayan pink salt, rinse 2 or 3 times, then cook in a 2:1 water ratio with more salt and spices. I inadvertently happened to refrigerate it beforehand. Pleased to learn of the benefits! Interesting suggestion about cooking rice with 6 cups of water. Curious to try but concerned about the outcome. Tried Keto/Carnivore but had side effects. Lost desired weight but now I maintain weight while adding some carbs still avoiding most starchy carbs. I enjoy black rice in small amounts with nutritional yeast and cayenne pepper. Can you cover dark rices in a future video? Thanks for the great content!

She is super hero on rice . She knows the secret and she shared it but not fully . There is a secret to cook the rice and nobody is talking about it . Why would I?
You say that "Today, white rice is sprayed with vitamin B1". However, isn't that only true of fortified rice? In other words, white rice CAN be sprayed or otherwise treated with vitamins, but it isn't by default, so most rice being consumed is NOT fortified. Is this incorrect? I would be very surprised to learn that rice can be fortified without that being disclosed on a label (even if the fortification is beneficial to health).
She says there are "40,000 varieties of rice" and shortly after that there are "90,000 species of rice" Can anyone (who actually knows) explain how there are more species than varieties?
Rice used to be very cheap in the Asian community, but the last 15yrs more people shift to rice, and rice price has jumped high because more population eating rice now. In the past 20yrs, mainstream people do not eat rice they eat bread but now more people from different ethnic group shifting to rice and rice price went up high.
I really liked this video. Unlike much/most of the info on YT channels you appear to know what you are talking about. But I didn't follow the "fat" segment. Why would fat storage deprive muscles from absorbing sugar? My understanding is that an exercisng muscle doesn't need insulin for sugar uptake. What do you mean by getting fat "clogged up"; this was really not clearl.
wow, you just taught me so much about rice! I've never been much of a rice eater and recently started eating more beans and well, what goes better with beans than rice? Your video was just what I needed to make the right choices. Thank you.
Oh wow! Super interesting! But did i miss what to do about gluten free pastas made of brown rice? & Does this mean avoid gluten free bread made of rice?
Great video. Initial weight loss on a Keto diet is due to water loss. I believe that plant based weight loss is fat. Regarding blood glucose spikes, individual spikes (
Is there anything we can eat for lunch and dinner every day that’s considered healthy with no consequences? I’ve been eating white rice everyday due to my heritage but later switched to brown rice every day because I thought it was healthier. I honestly hate all forms of rice and if there’s something healthier than it that I can eat daily I’d certainly rather do that
Eating a variety of whole grains is much better: quinoa, barley, Kumat, millet, barley, oat etc. this way you spread out toxins and get a variety of nutrients.
Thank you for this informative video. I love rice, and I've really kind of deprived myself of it in my diet, so knowing now how to prepare and store it and what kind is best is very helpful. You said not to eat protein like meat with it, but how about fish? I like tuna and shredded ginger in soy sauce over my rice, and I'd love to be able to eat it knowing it's a healthy option.
@Healthyimmunedoc oh, also, one more question. It may not have been this video, but you addressed purple sweet potatoes, I've never seen one, are they better than the regular sweet potatoes?
I am interested in watching this video but the constant 'mouse click' sound is TOO MUCH. In the segment "Which is Healthier..." which is less than two minutes long, there are TEN mouse clicks.
Thank you for this very informative video. What is the best way to reheat the rice that you've chilled 24 hours? I don't use a microwave, so I prefer either stovetop or toaster oven to warm my leftovers, adding a little water and slowly warming the rice while stirring and separating grains, then covering with a lid to steam until hot. Is there a better, healthier method?

Lost desired weight but now I maintain weight while adding some carbs still avoiding most starchy carbs. I enjoy black rice in small amounts with nutritional yeast and cayenne pepper. Can you cover dark rices in a future video? Thanks for the great content!
🔥🌾🔥*Dr. Liu, Thank you so much for this comprehensive health info video on Rice!* Really appreciate the level of detail and spectrum of scientific data. _Keep up the great work!_
That's a whole lot of information. I will watch again and take notes. Ty.
What great videos! I love how versed she is in her knowledge! 💗
Thank you for the encouragement.
Thank you thank you for the wonderful and thoughtful video ❤!!!
Thank you for the info. I am asian I eat a lot of rice in my live. This is very interesting and usefull knowledge.
Thank you. The information is valid for life. Get a grip people.
Glad it was helpful!
Every Video is an education! Thank you for your efforts!
Thank you for your kind words. ☺️
She says there are "40,000 varieties of rice" and shortly after that there are "90,000 species of rice"
Can anyone (who actually knows) explain how there are more species than varieties?
Amazing explanation thank you. So easy to understand and very informative
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the feedback.
Thanks. Very knowledgeable & explain very specific differences. Pretty much accurate from my doctor. 🙏👍😜❤️
Excellent presentation !
Thank you very much !
Awesome info ...Appreciate this video very much !11
Thank you for the video. It's so complicated and amusing but make sense. hahaha I was entertained.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sooo, what do you eat in aday? Could you give us three ideas for each meal
Great information, scary too😢, I will cook my rice as recommended by you, Thanks a lot!
Very simple and clean explanation about the whole issue! Bravo
Glad it was helpful!
Then i see a diet better than low carb, we ❤ carb
I really liked this video. Unlike much/most of the info on YT channels you appear to know what you are talking about. But I didn't follow the "fat" segment. Why would fat storage deprive muscles from absorbing sugar? My understanding is that an exercisng muscle doesn't need insulin for sugar uptake. What do you mean by getting fat "clogged up"; this was really not clearl.
I eat everything but don't eat too much 😋
Exactly!
"The difference between medicine, food and poison is the dose".
wow, you just taught me so much about rice! I've never been much of a rice eater and recently started eating more beans and well, what goes better with beans than rice? Your video was just what I needed to make the right choices. Thank you.
Thank you for the encouragement.
Thank you for the great information ❤
17:21 great info, it’s really not all that simple, appreciate your knowledge
Great video but, omg lose the clicking sound effect it's so distracting
By far greatest secret has been shared about rice but in my opinion not fully yet. More can be done other than refrigerate before serve
Oh wow! Super interesting! But did i miss what to do about gluten free pastas made of brown rice? & Does this mean avoid gluten free bread made of rice?
Thank you for breaking that down. So much helpful information!
Great video. Initial weight loss on a Keto diet is due to water loss. I believe that plant based weight loss is fat. Regarding blood glucose spikes, individual spikes (
Plant based equals fat loss 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@lr6477 In general yes, but in any overeating situation excess calories are converted to fat.
What is your take on Rice noodles, Brown Rice noodles, or sweet potato noodles? Also rice paper wraps. Thank you. You provide amazing information.
Thank you, thank you. Great info so well presented!!
I think you are missing greens, beans, nuts, seeds and some colorful roots. Plus some fruit for dessert. 😋
@@Healthyimmunedoc I'll happily throw broccoli and cabbage on it and follow it up with a kiwi and sprouted pumpkin seeds for dessert!
@Healthyimmunedoc oh, also, one more question. It may not have been this video, but you addressed purple sweet potatoes, I've never seen one, are they better than the regular sweet potatoes?
@@Chronicmom68 Yes because they are purple. That pigment is extra polyphenols.
What is the clicking noise from time to time??? Can you edit it out please
Unfortunately can’t edit out, but going forward I have removed them.
I am interested in watching this video but the constant 'mouse click' sound is TOO MUCH. In the segment "Which is Healthier..." which is less than two minutes long, there are TEN mouse clicks.
Wonderful video!!!!!
Awesome breakdown. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words. ☺️
I’m new to your channel, very interesting very informative! Thank you for sharing!
