There is natural background arsenic in soils, and water. Of course, human activity have also inadvertently and purposefully increased arsenic concentrations. But, animals too have increased arsenic concentrations. As an example, the shells of mollusks and crustaceans have a higher percentage of arsenic. Plants as well can concentrate arsenic and when they decay microbes can release that arsenic into the surrounding soil.**
** This information was taken from a study published on the National Library of Medicine's site: "Natural Background and Anthropogenic Arsenic Enrichment in Florida Soils, Surface Water, and Groundwater: A Review with a Discussion on Public Health Risk -- PMCID: PMC6210428

White Basmati from CA, Pakistan and India has the lowest arsenic. Brown rice is okay too. 19:05 - She says to rinse 1st, then cook 1 c rice in 6 c water. After cooking, dump the excess water and then cook further to the dryness preferred. Best to refrigerate before eating (from the earlier part of the video). Recommends to eat rice not more than 2 -3 times a week. Thank you for the info, Doc!

my husband is Nigerian and this is how we prepare rice. We never use short or pearl rice, prefer basmati then jasmin rice. ALWAYS Wash thoroughly in hot water til its not cloudy , then boil in more than enough water to make rice plump, then strain, and add the 1.5 :1 ratio of water the cook till just bearly done. Turn off heat and let it sit to steam. Perfect every time. Next day rice is perfect for fried rice!

How could it possibly be healthier? The nutrients have been removed so bugs don't want it. Bugs are smarter than billions of people around the world who eat refined carbs (rice/bread/pasta). If you do any fitness you quickly feel the difference eating natural whole carbs makes on your energy levels. You know how people complain of no energy because they haven't eaten? It's really no energy because they didn't eat complex, natural carbs.

Had lost weight during the pandemic (40+ lbs, exercise + portion control) and then when believed to be at my healthiest, boom… a heart attack. I used to read labels but was mostly focused on carbs and calories intake… a bit fuzzy about trans and sat fats, lover of bread and a sweet tooth. Baffled by how my moderate exercise routine is no longer producing the results it used to (metabolism?!). Too much to share and not enough time. I woke up today and immediately changed my dry fried egg routine to only egg whites (which I used to do before) and was happy to see that my ‘Seedtastict’ Aldi brand bread does have a fiber content that when x 4 is exactly the amount of carbs, and it does have the whole grain label. 🎉 Plz don’t stop what you’re doing👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼For the sake of those like myself. 👍🏼🤗

You say that "Today, white rice is sprayed with vitamin B1". However, isn't that only true of fortified rice? In other words, white rice CAN be sprayed or otherwise treated with vitamins, but it isn't by default, so most rice being consumed is NOT fortified. Is this incorrect? I would be very surprised to learn that rice can be fortified without that being disclosed on a label (even if the fortification is beneficial to health).

In the past 20yrs, mainstream people do not eat rice they eat bread but now more people from different ethnic group shifting to rice and rice price went up high.

I really liked this video. Unlike much/most of the info on YT channels you appear to know what you are talking about. But I didn't follow the "fat" segment. Why would fat storage deprive muscles from absorbing sugar? My understanding is that an exercisng muscle doesn't need insulin for sugar uptake. What do you mean by getting fat "clogged up"; this was really not clearl.

Is there anything we can eat for lunch and dinner every day that’s considered healthy with no consequences? I’ve been eating white rice everyday due to my heritage but later switched to brown rice every day because I thought it was healthier.
I honestly hate all forms of rice and if there’s something healthier than it that I can eat daily I’d certainly rather do that

Thank you for this informative video. I love rice, and I've really kind of deprived myself of it in my diet, so knowing now how to prepare and store it and what kind is best is very helpful. You said not to eat protein like meat with it, but how about fish? I like tuna and shredded ginger in soy sauce over my rice, and I'd love to be able to eat it knowing it's a healthy option.

Thank you for this very informative video. What is the best way to reheat the rice that you've chilled 24 hours? I don't use a microwave, so I prefer either stovetop or toaster oven to warm my leftovers, adding a little water and slowly warming the rice while stirring and separating grains, then covering with a lid to steam until hot. Is there a better, healthier method?
