    I LOVE this paddle. I have the DBD, BDi, and Ruby. They're all phenomenal. The BDi is insanely fast at the kitchen line. But the Ruby is the best all around paddle I've played with. Incredible spin, great control, and solid power. Not as much pop as the DBD, but that's a plus for me because it has a more plush feel and resets, dinks, and drops are easier to dial in. I agree with what you said about it feeling firm on harder shots and plush on softer shots. It's hard to explain/understand until you play with it.

      100% thank you for the comment and the good vibes! I love comments like this that help others and prove that what I am saying translates to real life haha. Yeah for me the top 2 paddles from Six Zero right now are the BDi and the Ruby. Translation: Plush on soft shots, firm on hard shots means inconsistent play. It’s hard to adjust to the paddle during volleys and having tight control for how it feels on different shots. The paddle is hot garbage.

      Thank you for the positive vibes and the comment! Super helpful and great questions. I do think it's 100% worth the extra $20, BUT! if you haven't seen my review for the Mark Paddles they have their Pure Hybrid paddle that feels almost exactly like a Six Zero DBD and feels fairly relative with just less spin than the Ruby for $99... Judging by your comment wondering if you should spend the extra $20 you are definitely taking money into consideration here. • @stspickleball

  • @meredithpriestley7872
    @meredithpriestley7872 2 месяца назад +1

    I switched to the Ruby from the DBD 14mm. I loved the power and my ability to flick/roll of the DBD 14, but it was too poppy on dinks. Love the Ruby, however I can't swing through it fast enough to get the same roll/flick I did with the 14 mm DBD. Due to your review of the Volair Mach 2 I'm thinking it might be a good solution? I don't see the Ruby on your spreadsheet so can't really judge myself. Thank you!

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  2 месяца назад

      Yeah I took the ruby off the spreadsheet because I played with a friends Ruby and it wasn't nearly as powerful as the original one I had received so I need to update that. 14mm M2F is going to have relative pop if not likely more pop in comparison to the DBD 14mm so if you had a hard time controlling that I would be cautious there. I think if you are looking for more pop than the ruby and want it to be lighter in the hands (assuming the heaviness of the Ruby might be slowing that motion down for you) I would probably recommend the Spartus Apollo honestly. It's less poppy than the M2F 14mm and will be able to flick/roll well for you :)

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +1

      I haven’t and in testing it was very minor 50rpm over 2 months. I have been rotating paddles though so it is possible I haven’t put it through the wringer as much as you did. I’ll try and beat it up some more and report back soon. I’m really sorry to hear that 😩 that would be worse than spray on grit if that’s the case.

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад

      Also how are you testing your spin just mainly based on feel? I did notice the center of the face doesn’t feel quite as rough and figured the spin might be lower but it didn’t change much when I actually measured it. I’ll rip some drives and really lay into some drill sessions over the next couple weeks and see what happens 😊

  • @86309
    @86309 6 месяцев назад +2

    Spot on!! Great realistic review. Did you notice any drop after 2 weeks or more of hard play in the peel ply texture?

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +2

      Testing wise I show a negligible difference. Tiny bit of loss of spin but not much. It does however feel a touch smoother in the sweet spot thatn when I received it. I don't notice any spin loss though. So it may be a placebo effect going on with people who are complaining of the texture wearing down. Or people feel it and it feels a touch smoother so they just think it's going down when in reality it's playing about the same.

      Diadem 18k Power Pro? If that's what you are referring to the Power Pro only lacks in the soft game. The Original 18k (Standard) has a really solid soft game. The Power Pro actually has really good spin, top tier power, top tier pop, a smaller sweet spot, and is stiffer off the face so the soft game and resets are a bit harder with that one. I think the Ruby edges it out but again only marginally and mainly just in resets and dinking. Hey Kim! So what I can say is that Six Zero is known for the most durable cores in Pickleball. Dale at Six Zero has tested all of his paddles on a machine that literally slams the paddle into a ball over 5,000 (way more closer to 10,000) and in the same exact spot and harder than you would normally hit a pickleball and there is zero signs of delamination/core crushing to speak of. It is a polypropylene honeycomb core. I do agree a kevlar core could be interesting :)

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +1

      It has a better sweet spot, and more spin. I’d say on drives it feels honestly very similar. I kind of like the shape of the Forza a touch better personally I feel like it cuts through the air easier for drives and serves. But the Ruby has a better soft game and is better for resets due to the way Kevlar feels on softer shots. If you have any other specific questions just let me know!

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +1

      Also the Mark Pure and the new BALLR Heat are better options for the price than the Mach 1 Forza and also compete with the Ruby.

    • @hendrikdewit628
      @hendrikdewit628 6 месяцев назад +1

      I do have another question lmao. For the Mach 1 forza have you noticed any reduction in spin or loss of grittiness on the paddle face? I’ve read other comments about the ruby becoming smooth rather quickly

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +1

      Ruby does seem to be having a lot of feedback about that although the one I got seems pretty solid.. although I am a reviewer so I’m constantly rotating paddles. Bummer on the Ruby. The Mach 1 Forza I’ve used more than any other paddle and I’ve noticed zero loss of spin. Or extremely minimal. I’d say the same about the BALLR Heat too as it’s utilizing the same materials 😊

      I would say if you value spin and pop/power I would go with the mach 1 forza, and if you value something that just does everything incredibly well but doesn't excel at any one thing I would get the DBD. Personally I love a nice spinny paddle and they are really relative at the end of the day so I would personally recommend the mach 1 forza :)

The strange thing is that the Kryton does not appear on the Mark website if you go directly into the website. Good thing is I used a 10% discount code. It cost around $135. how does the ruby compare to the mach 2 forza? considering both...

    • @stspickleball
      @stspickleball  6 месяцев назад +1

      Great question as these two are doing really well right now. I would say the Ruby has more power with the Kevlar feeling firmer on more aggressive shots like drives and hard-hitting serves. The Mach 2 Forza is better at the soft game and has a more linear feel off the face where when you're hitting drives and all the way down to dinking it doesn't change feeling wise whereas the Ruby feels firm on aggressive shots and relatively soft on dinks and drops. The Mach 2 Forza definitely edges it out for control and just a touch in spin, but the Ruby wins in power. I would get a Mach 2 Forza if I wanted a linear paddle that is control oriented in design and if I wanted the #1 spinning paddle in the space, and I would get the Ruby if I want some new tech that allows aggressive shots on drives with the more plush feel on drops and dinks. Really can't go wrong with either. I would say likely more people are going to enjoy the Mach 2 Forza over the Ruby.

    • @stspickleball

      I think they both at the top of their respective categories. The DBi is the best edgeless paddle that does well all around and is high hand speed. The Ruby is the best general all around paddle but slower hand speed. So I would make my decision based on hand speed if I were you. Do you have tennis elbow? Slower hands? And want something that moves fast? Or something that’s a bit slower but has more stability and a better sweet spot? Those are the main differences here 😊 if you wanna discuss further let me know!
