Just want to say THANK YOU!! I have spent many, many failed hours doing Internet searches trying to find out why, after the most recent Windows 10 update, I have lost connectivity and a view to the other computers and storage devices on my home network. It has been driving me crazy and wasted a lot of my time. Your short, simple video solved the problem. I tried each of your suggestions and solved the problem by checking the SMP box you show about three minutes into your video. Just THREE Minutes and my network is back in view and I can get to all my files. Again, thank you! This video is very much appreciated.

Hey Rick, you wrote exactly what I wanted to do but better(as English is not my motherhood language). This 4 minutes video explained all I was looking for for couple of nights trying to return visibility of my Qnap.
      Britec09 thank you very much

    I can't say how grateful I am.
As a normal private user and an absolutely no DATA SPECIALIST OR NERD THIS HAVE BEEN A REALLY BIG HELP FOR ME, I’m curious and want to learn, but it’s very often that it seems, you have to be a data specialist to learn or get help, many times I feel like clumsy dumb user, even that I try and want to.
I have spent hours, days and weeks just getting quick access to my NAS via my desktop, just the folder that shows my NAS server. No one has been able to help me, I have been on many forums, platforms and Facebook groups, without getting help, then I just found this video you made 5 years ago and now it works perfectly. My NAS is now directly accessible via my desktop, or under Network in the left menu. I've moved everything to my NAS via the direct way, it took no time, now I've cleared everything on my PC so there's room to use it again, thank you so much, you've been a huge help.

Thank you for the SMB tip. This had been a real headache with my PC I recently built.
My other computers were able to always access my Qnap shared folders without any problems.
    Thanks again 👍

Brillant... I have not been able to access my network drives since my upgrade from Win 7 to 10 - a considerable time...
I finally made time to "fix" the problem and wasted 6 hours last night mucking around and then I found your video this morning.
It was the SMB File Sharing Option...

Brian: You should super-set (change) the name of this video to attract users with "PEER SHARES FAIL-TO-APPEAR IN WINDOWS 10 NETWORK BROWSER." Because this problem isn't just a share-from-NAS problem (using SMB), but also a shared-from-Windows 7 etc problem. i.e., it's a problem in systems that never had a NAS, at all. Been there, done that.
Because I installed a NAS and still had "the problem" (which you solved!), I noticed your video.

This Solved the initial issue re unseen in Network and now works fine. BUT i have 2 pcs networked and it doesnt work for 2nd PC. There may be other underlying problems as i cannot access 2nd pc from 1st one even though the Icon is present under Network.
I have to say....this is one of the best descriptive and knowledgeable videos i have come across. Thank you

I have DROBO FS which is locked to SMBv1 and cannot be changed to V2 or V3 as it is a hardware limitation (apparently) ... I don't want to nor should I be forced to ditch perfectly good hardware for the sake of a button press or two.
This video solved my problem (security risks aside).
Nowhere else on the web have I come across such a simple solution... I have followed (to the letter) powershell commands, CMD and all sorts of tick boxes and non else have worked...
    Genuinely.. Thank you. :-)
EDIT - I have just read some other comments.. I think this might be the most mild mannered and polite bunch on RUclips. no trolling and no abuse.. smashing.. :-)

Hey, great video! I have several Windows 10 machines and one of them lost the ability to see the NAS. It never had a problem before. My guess is an update changed something unique to my Intel machine. I watched your video and decided to check the SMB settings you displayed via the control panel and they were turned off. Turned them back on, rebooted the machine and now I can see the NAS fine.
