So much for me to love about this recipe. Here in the US, people might be misled by reading; 2nd line up from the bottom... We interpret cloves as one of the sweet spices, a Christmas spice and such. "Garlic Cloves" is the intended ingredient I'm assuming, Ingredients for Filling 2 tablespon cooking oil 2 large onions chopped 3 large carrots diced 1 kg potatoes diced 2 - 3 cans Cream of Chicken 15 cloves 2 cinnamon sticks
Thank you. No it's not cloves of garlic but the spice cloves. You can omit them if you find it too strong but they actually give a nice spicy flavour together with the cinnamon.

I did a Hong kong style which also used the cream of chicken but I have to say, tak ummp. I am writing here tho, to say thank you for your SHORTCRUST recipe. I did a 1/4 version of it and it was sturdy and tastier than the dry orang putih version. It was flexible to work with altho you have to work fast cos it softens very fast n one has to send it back to the fridge to harder. I am definitely using this recipe as my go to shortcrust in future. I wonder if I can make it more tasty by adding cheese or brown sugar,,,
Thank you. I'm not sure what Prima Deli chicken Pie crust taste like but most probably they use flaky layered pastry. Mine is different, this is similar to shortcrust pastry.

Thank you. If you keep the pastry in the freezer, it can last at least a few weeks if not longer. You need to take out at least an hour from the freezer to thaw before using. It will be very hard due to the butter content.
Mr Shiokman, I followed the instructions but my dough kept shrinking very quickly even though I chilled it in the fridge overnight. Any remedies or do I need to do a new batch?
@Sherlyn Foo, it'll be a waste if you throw away the dough. Shrinkage is usually due to the dough not having enough time to rest or it's be overworked. Maybe you can try letting the dough rest longer after taking out from the fridge before rolling it.
@@ShiokmanEddie I finally figured out the problem! I halved your recipe ingredients, all except I forgot to cut down the eggs so there was just too much liquid in the dough. Haha silly me! I made the 2nd batch and it turned out perfectly. I even took out a portion of the chicken and added black pepper. Shiok! Thank you for this beautiful recipe!
I think this is a great idea--but why use cream of chicken soup to make the sauce? If you are gonna make these, make a nice cream sauce for your pies? I would just add some cream and some flour to the chicken and veggie mixture and some cheese or sour cream to make a nice sauce. Add nutmeg and salt and pepper and maybe a some green herbs.
May I share homemade chicken cream? Just like Parames said, I made the roux by melting butter and add multipurpose flour to thicken it. Then I add chicken stock water and a can of evaporated milk. Lastly add groud black pepper.

Yes you can but better to freeze it. The dough might get soft with the fillings if kept in the fridge. Thaw it before baking

You mean just covering the top with the pastry? Yes it can be done. I've also made it in a large pie dish with pastry top and bottom.

Nothing wrong, it will shrink a little after you roll and cut the dough flat.

I've got no idea. I used Campbell's Cream of Chicken in a can for this recipe.
Sadia Khan you can make a Roux which is basically the white sauce used in all chicken pies. I learnt this from well known chef in Liverpool, U.K.
