OMG. My mind is blow. What a valuable video, I had totally given up on 120.
Yeah and I totally get it, it’s still not without compromises but still nice to have in this price point
@@ReachFilms for me it was a feature, then after using it, it wasn’t a feature, now you have made it a feature again. I’m ok with the dynamic range compromise, it’s better than not having it at all. I really hope lots of fx30 users see this video.
@@markwiemelsthanks Mark! Yeah it’s why I made this video because it’s a little different than the 4k 120 on the fx30 and some who use both cameras thought it’s just garbage on the fx30 so hopefully this will help a lot of people!
@@ReachFilms Please provide me the steps to achieve it, since I'm new to the camera, please tell me how to achieve 4k 120 with 200
Thanks for this tip.
I will definitely use it if I manage to set the appropriate exposure at ISO 200.
You got it!
Going to search your channel, but would be great to get a cross-camera comparison doing this same test at 4k30 + 4k120 ISO 100,800,2500. Interested to see how much difference there is with as many Sony cameras as possible sharing the same lens with these settings.
This is great! But now that means in tougher situations like filming sports at night will make using 4K 120 impossible to use because I’ll have to crank up the iso back up to 2500 😂
Good to know for daytime filming tho 👍
You gonna need the FX3 for that kind of application but then you gonna have to carry a telescope of a lens xD
Such a good video! i was wondering whats going on! with all the noise...
Great info. You should be able to use Cine EI mode and get the same or similar results if you set your EI value lower than the base ISO then adjust your exposure in post to match how you lit and exposed in camera
@joshsattin had mentioned that to me as well, however that involves knowledge of more intricate post production techniques it’s not as simple as clicking a button. But yes if you know more then the average person about color grading I think you could achieve similar results in Cine EI
I'm new to photography. Could you please help me how to achieve those settings? are you saying, in the post production work, those noise can be eliminated or it will be eliminated with Cine EI mode and EI value lower than the base ISO, please provide me the steps to achieve it, I'm new, so please help.
Interesting. Other functions that result in a crop would do the same thing, such as active stabilization. Unstabilized images would have full oversampling, which reduces noise by averaging during the downresolution, but that would be reduced with active stabilization and consequently more noise would be present.
Yep pretty much
Great stuff! But it is not always possible to shoot at low isos based on the lighting conditions. In challenging lighting situations I tend to shoot it S-Cinetone to get less noise especially in 4K 24 and 30p.
absolutely! and I totally understand that, this video was made from the standpoint of people who are filming outdoors during the day and can absolutely shoot at iso 200 if they understand the tradeoffs
@@ReachFilms I completely understand that. I was just sharing my experience with the FX30. Still a great camera for outdoor shooting or with adequate lighting
thanks bro
To be able to record at night with the FX30, what would be the parameters that you would use in ISO?
Taking into account 24 fps and the slog 3
Thanks
I haven’t heard anyone mention this, but looking at spec sheets, it appears there is a difference in 4K 120fps formats and data rates that are available for each camera. The FX30 is capable of 120fps in the highest quality ALL-I format at 600M … the a6700 is only in XAVC S format up to 280M for 120fps. Not sure how significant that is to quality in real world applications.
You can’t film in the high bitrate on the a6700 because it’s impossible to do at 120fps with v90 sd cards you need cfexpress A cards
@@ReachFilms ah, that’s right, makes sense.
@@iyason6878 there is absolutely no way you did that in 4K 120 P sorry dude I’m all good for disagreements but when you say I’m spreading lies? Do that stuff and I’ll quickly ban you off here.
Great tip!! Thanks! 👍
Anytime! Thanks for watching
Sorry for stupid question, but I can get just 50 or 100 FPS at FX 30.
You can get 50 in PAL but not 100
100 I`ve got, but not the 120, but it seems to possible just in NTFS
Do you still shoot in slog3 or go right to S-cinetone when shooting in 120 fps? and if staying in slog 3 and iso 200 do you still expose do the right by adding more light to get that +1.7 ev? how do you expose that...
I still shoot at slog3.cine and yes I stick in that 1.3-1.7 area
very helpful. 👍
thank you !!
I am confused. Are you boosting the physical lighting to compensate for the low iso? If so, wouldn’t you still be better of shooting at 800 and dropping exposures in post?
You can do that too but that’s a lot more work, so it depends on your use case
This is great! Is this S&Q mode 120?
It is for either mode but technically I am using the S&Q mode for the example footage
Why doesn't the 4k 120 fps setting appear on my FX30? There is a maximum of 100 fps
Probably in pal change to ntsc
@@romehjamalromeh6334 Thank you for the answer.
I just got this camera I shot music videos in 120fps only im using the sigma 16mm 1.4 I’m alway in very low light situations. I can’t get 120 clean at all and shooting at ISO 200 isn’t a option I need the high iso I’m forced to only use 60fps any help?
If you have to film at 60p the only way is to try and stay at the second base iso of 2500
Buy more lights unfortunately
So fining the sweet spot according the lighting conditions is best. Go no higher ISO (for 4k 120fps) than 800, or you are really asking for the distortion?
Not asking for distortion but more noise. You can go to 2500 and get similar noise to 800 but I find in the crop mode 2500 looks significantly worse than 800
@@ReachFilms It's a crop sensor, so what is crop mode? And you get similar noise at 2500, but yet it looks worse. You are not very clear here. 2500 is not similar it is worse than 800 I think you are trying to say. In crop mode? As if you can turn it off?
@@rockrecordreport7136 cropping in on the sensor is different than the term crop sensor. When I say 2500 is worse it’s in terms of sharpness and dynamic range
You are forced into crop mode on the fx30 when filming in 4k120
@@rockrecordreport7136He’s talking about the 1.5x crop ON TOP of the APS-C 1.5x crop.
A 24mm lens is 36mm on the FX30. Shooting in 4k 120p adds an additional 1.5x crop bringing it to ~54mm.
why I do't have 120fps on my fx30?
Can someone help me >?
Go into S&Q mode
@@ReachFilms thanks 👍
No I've just checked in s&q settings both hd and 4 k there s 100fps 200fps no 120
Why are all RUclipsrs stupid when it comes to log profile?😂
I wish you used some real life situations I.e. different lighting conditions, moving objects. Not some bulls*it ass studio shot of a damn camera!!!
But we love those bulls*it shots!!
I wish you loved wearing a bra! Your tits are drooping my guy!
