Just got this camera with the g master fe 2.8/24-70 lens. I want to use this for my video podcast. When I take a video, any movement, including my hands, is extremely laggy and poor quality. Any suggestions?
I'm getting a weird colour tint especially with skin tones using PP11 which is the S-Cinetone profile. I don't get this when recording video on my A7RV using the same S-Cinetone profile. Any ideas or experience with this and what may be causing it?
I'm getting the a6700 next week and so far I haven't seen a video discussing the different video settings on that camera. I figured someone would have one on the FX30 and this video was just what I was looking for. A lot of what you went over here will apply to the a6700. Thanks!

The menu screens and functions on the control wheel were jumping around like there was a short or stuck button, so B&H had me send it back. I got to shoot a bit of 60 and 120P of insects in my garden and liked what I saw, so I'm excited about getting the replacement.
Great Video, helped me a lot at understanding what i could do with my camera. Plus i saw where to disable the timecode display and set mine to "counter" as yours 😅

I don’t have a video specifically on manual exposure, but how exposure works, along with multiple videos on how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO affect exposure. If you go to my channel and search “exposure”, you’ll see all those videos.
Btw, "low sharpening" is actually the more processed option. What people call sharpening is actually artefacts at edges as a result of the beyer filter. An unprocessed image will have color artefacts at edges, while "reducing" sharpening is done by increasing the amount of information borrowed from adjacent pixels. This results in more accurate color but reduced resolution.
upgrading FX30 with version 2.0 works with V60 UHS-II 128GB SD card: up to 130MB/s write speed and 250MB/s read speed Lexar SD 128GB 270MB/s 1800x Class 10 UHS-II V60? with these two sdxc version 2.0 does fx30 work?
If I have a Ninja V recorder (to capture RAW footage) then I would NOT want to proxy record on the FX30's smaller memory card (wouldn't be large enough anyway). How should I adjust the "recording media" settings in this scenario?
I haven’t used a Ninja V before, but from what I understand, doesn’t the camera just become a device that passes the video to the monitor at that point so that you are recoding from the Ninja and aren’t actually pressing record on the camera?
@@CamberFilmSchool I think so. The Ninja V is needed to capture the RAW that the FX30 can pass on (but not process and store within itself.) It's odd. I've got a 2 TB drive attached to the Ninja V for this, as RAW takes a lot of space. Thanks.
If you want the best straight out of camera look I wouldn’t use any picture profile. Unless it’s some kind of professional shoot, the standard profiles work great. Thats what I use for all my RUclips videos.
@jsparrowau it really depends on your experience/confidence with color grading LOG type footage. I’m shooting a film right now and using PP1 set to SLOG3. But that opens more variables with your experience shooting SLOG footage because a lot of variables come into play while shooting. How long til the wedding? I’d suggest practicing in similar settings with various picture options to see what you like most and get a feel for grading the footage too.
someone please help lol... I just bought the fx30 & it won't let me use AUTOFOCUS on Movie Mode. Anytime I try it says "Invalid with this lens. if the lens has an af/mf switch perform it that way" which I don't have the option on the lens - it was designed to be done digitally so something seems wrong seeing as my autofocus works just fine when I switch to manual mode... even my autofocus starts to work temporarily when I switch back to movie mode but switches back to MF on its own after time or if I go into the menus.
HS is the lowest quality. It’s a higher compressed file that’s also more difficult on computer systems to edit. XAVC-S is the next highest, and XAVC-S-I is the highest quality.
ive gotten mixed answers on this I heard from many that HS is the next best quality if you have m1's and higher for Macs Is is the highest but huge files and next was HS although compressed has a slightly better video quality then S @@CamberFilmSchool

that's exactly what happening to me, i have the version 3.0 im kinda confused because every single video im seeing showing exactly 60p,30p,24p,120p but only shows 23.9p, 29.9p, 59.9p, 119.8p
Why are you set to 100 ISO ? This camera has DUAL ISO and the base settings are iso800 and iso2500. Mine is at iso800 most of the time. 30 year Sports Cameraman.
100 ISO will have less noise. ISO 800 and 2500 settings have optimal dynamic range for the camera. That does not mean they have optimal noise. Dynamic range and noise are different things. What you should use depends on shooting conditions and the sort of lighting you have.
Please help me I am recording on my sd card and on my ninja v+ the SS card I get the picture plus audio but from the ninja card only video no audio my camera is the Sony FX30 I will really appreciate if you resolve my issue I’ve subscribed a while back to your channel and love your videos . How do I get out of Intelligent Auto mode? Many of my options are blurred out because of this.
When you select the video mode, it should bring up choices between auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual.
If I need to use auto iso when filming in slog, would it be wise to set my min and max as the dual base isos? and exposure meter set to +2?
I would greatly advise against using auto ISO. Especially when shooting SLOG.

V60 cards should work fine with most modes. There are some that’ll you need V90 though.
What mode should you be in for video?
The one that looks like a little film strip. After selecting that it’ll ask you which video mode you want to use.

If you want the best straight out of camera look I wouldn’t use any picture profile. Unless it’s some kind of professional shoot, the standard profiles work great. Thats what I use for all my RUclips videos.

Can I shoot shortfilm with these settings and edit it on a laptop with 4gb graphics card & 8gb ram?
It’ll probably take a long time. 8GB of ram isn’t going to do well with high bitrate 4K footage.
sir sony 18-105mm f4 is good lens with fx30 ?
It’s decent. But I’d prefer a lens with at least an aperture of f/2.8
I am curious why my FX30 is diplaying the ntsc recording rates at 4k as 59.94 / 29.97 / 23.98 / 119.88 when yours shows 60 / 30 / 24 / 120

I need to know more about what settings you're using. What kind of lens are you using?
Why don’t you use hs instead of s ? Isn’t hs the second highest quality

Doubt you can tell the difference between 24p, 30p and 60p.

Ok, I get what you’re saying now. That’s the actual rate that 24, 30, 60, and 120p should be. We typically just round up for easy talking.
