Used to live in Portugal back in 2000's as a kid. Every weekend certain restaurants would grill sardines and sing Fado while they are at it. Good times!
Sounds awesome
I was in Porto a few months ago, first time in Portugal. Cannot say enough good things about Portugal and the Portuguese. Can't wait to go back.
Exactly same
The buildings and streets in Porto, Portugal are so beautiful!
My favorite is the sandwich at Cafe Santiago. It feels like you are cutting a piece of cheesecake, haha!
The sauce is so attractive, your expression says it all, my mouth is watering just watching you eat it!
That cafe is really beautiful, but the coffee tastes like water, which is not what people expected, haha!
The painter who painted on the tiles in the train station must be Superman, he is so awesome!
It's really smart of you to eat fish and potatoes together, it should be delicious with the sauce!
This is the first time I have seen caramel pudding made like that. I believe the caramel on top must be very crispy and delicious!
I believe many people have put Porto on their list of places to visit after watching this episode. Thank you very much for sharing, well done! 👍😍👏
Thanks Gianni, its so nice there and youre right the sandwich does almost look like a piece of cake haha
@@LukeMartin You're welcome, but I mean it looks like cheesecake, haha!
If you want more meat dishes I would recommend this dishes: lampantana, chanfana, anho assado, posta mirandesa, feijoada transmontana, dobrada, tripas à moda do Porto, leitão da Bairrada, bochechas de porco bisaro, plumas de porco preto, bola de Lamego, iscas de fígado de cebolada, ensopado de borrego, molhanga, sopa de cachola, sopa da pedra, cordeiro mirandês
My great-grandfather's land. Portuguese cuisine is wonderful. How delicious grilled sardines are. In the tradition of Portuguese culture, sweets are incomparable!
Portugal is gorgeous! Those sandwiches looked awesome, they are packed as well and must have been so delicious. Aweseome tour Luke, Portugal would be on my bucket list if I ever get the time to travel.
Thanks Angie! It’s one of my favorite places to visit now for sure 🇵🇹
That 🚊 station, should be in a Museum!❤ Absolutely Beautiful!🤩
You have good taste!
Was about to sleep but then saw that you guys posted. Just had to watch it, the risk of snacking in bed be damned hahhaha
Haha thanks so much!
I have never seen such a special sandwich. Looks delicious. Thanks Luke.
Greetings from Redondo Beach 🇺🇸. I agree. This city has a lot of character . Beautiful PORTO. 🌷
Oh God, the first sandwich looks UNBELIEVABLE 😦
This is a great tour, and the food looks amazing!
Such a great video. The city is beautiful and the music was fabulous. The sandwiches look amazing and the seafood looks delicious. As for the crème brûlée, wow! Thank you for sharing
This video stand out among the rest, love the food and the scenery. The cable car and the bridge is spectacular 🎉
Thank you for the Above Average content you both create on these vlogs. They are getting better and better each time.
So excited to see what's next ❤
Thank you!!
Our pleasure!
Thanks friend Luke for the new episode. Don't forget to also taste the Port wine!! Amazing. ✌
I like when you say what your favorite food you ate for the day !!!!
Oh man…your sandwich orgy left me nostalgic of my country’s incredible food! By the way, some of the music sounded very Greek, bouzouki, instead of Portuguese guitar and fado. Anyway, it was a pleasure to watch your vlog.
Porto is one of my favourite cities, so beautiful and so much great food and drink on offer. Had a franceshina there myself and it filled me up for the whole day! Had a coffee at the Majestic too, amazing spot (but very busy and crowded). Next time do a port tasting session, you'll love it.
That's right my friend, portuguese gastronomy is the best of all the western gastronomies, and you just little sampled it because portuguese gastronomy is almost infinite!
Nice musical interlude, Daddy-0!
Glad to see you enjoy my country's food! 😁
Francesinha, very strong dish. I love it. I´m from Porto.
We were just in Lisbon and Porto the past 2 weeks! Could we have been there at the same time??
We had bifanhas in O Trevo, Bifanhas do Alfonso and Conga!
We went to the same places you went to - Majestic Cafe, Sao Bento train station, Teleforico above Douro River etc!
So good i love it thank you!!!!!
I'm glad you like it
Wow. My kind of food. Thanks for a great video.
Those sandwiches look so good, Luke, especially the Francesinha, and the seafood - all those got me hungry. And Porto is truly beautiful, with a great vibe! 😊
They are! Thanks so much for your comment!
I'm from Minho, rojões (first sandwich) are my favourite!!! We eat it all the time❤
Looks good yum!
I have been following you Luke for some years now. I'm never disappointed with any of your videos. Makes me want to travel myself. What tip would you give to someone who has no clue or never has traveled.
Thank you Martha
I just spent 20 minutes looking for a recipe for those potatoes 😆 I found one with two sauces - Rojo and Verde. I'll make it!
The boiled ones, that he had with the sardines? Those are simply boiled in water with some salt (real marine one with no chemical ad-ons). As for the "green sauce": olive oil, white wine vinegar, chopped parsley, chopped onions and some salt. If you want to use this sauce over some flame grilled pork belly strips, just add some smoked paprika powder to it.
I like the input from your girlfriend. A different take on the food review. How often do you guys disagree on the food? That would be an interesting video lol!
😂
Luke, if you ever do a Q&A video, this needs to be answered there 😜
Luke....the heart attack perfection.....did they not offered it with a fried egg on top??????
With a runny yellow????
Makes it even better 😊
Right! It was missing the egg and the french fries, they go along with the sauce so well. That is by far the best dish you can have when you are hangover.
Hi
Native portuguese here.
I usually eat about 3 to 4 bifanas at Congas.
The easier way to eat a francesinha is by cutting the corners in a triangular shape and keep doing that until all its eaten. And the sauce its a mix of several alcoholic products, not just beer, its takes mix's of port wine, beer and whiskey...
Santiago its only a famous turist place name, for me the best Francesinha is at Valongo in the Barril restaurant.
16:00 Funny thing there... turists usually have a tremendous laugh cause of the horse statue is so well done that even its gender is generously detailed LOL.
Regarding the Luiz I Bridge, unfortunately it was not Gustavo Eiffel who designed the bridge. It was Théophile Seyrig.
What an amazing video but you didn't eat creme brulee, you ate leite de creme. They are similar but different.
Heart attack sandwich! 🤣🤣🤣💯
Is Porto really beautiful? There are more gorgeous beaches, parks and gardens in Spain and Italy.
I just went there, and saw lots of old buildings in need of repair. There are vacant or abandoned apartments and buildings scattered around the city. Restaurants in Porto in tourist areas charge much higher prices than those restaurants where locals go.
Thank you LUKE.
You're welcome!
❤️❤️❤️
Love your video’s… wish you told us the price of the sandwiches!
Luke legendas em português por favor .😊
bring me on food holiday Mr Martin (and Mink)
Beautiful city! Does anyone in Porto eat vegetables?
Of course. Portuguese don’t eat this everyday, this is the typical local food, doesn’t mean we eat this everyday 😂 I don’t even remember the last time I ate a francesinha 😂
Was this in April 2024? I ask because everything looks so summery!
❤ Good VDO 😂รัก ลุค
🐢🙏😊
👍
Did mink ever get some of that brulè? 😅
I think a small bite at least haha 😂 oops
There are better francesinhas in Porto than the ones from Santiago. Also, how did you managed to miss one of the mandatory snacks of that city, that are the "cachorrinhos do Gazela"?
BTW it's not Green Wine, correct translation is Young Wine, cause in Portuguese "Verde" (Green) also mean not mature.
Hello, you have to eat Leitão à Bairrada, the best suckling pig in the world. Mealhada Zone.
Sounds delicious!
Hey Luke why you dont Go to south America? We have wonderful foods in Brazil, Argentina, Colômbia, peru ,Chile , Uruguay ,etc
Watch our videos from Colombia! Planning on Brazil soon
the musiv playing is greek greek buzuki!!!!!!!!!
🤪🤤❤
Luke…gotta ask…with all the walking you do, what kind of shoes do you wear?
New balance
All those sandwiches looked great but do the Portuguese know what "fries on the side" mean?
It means with rice, too, often
Magestic turns in a tourist trap
Porto is the best city to eat in Portugal
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh my, how big is the bread, how should I eat it? 😂
Wow, you’re not that awkward boy anymore
Yes, all the meats are not healthy, but it’s a culinary and cultural experience!
Famous rojão 😂
I saw a lot of videos with foreigners eating grilled sardines with skin and with bones ... please don't do that!! you have to take first the skin and don't eat the black belly; we grilled the sardines with tripes, so they don't be dried, but we don't eat that!
Afurada its not bad but you should go to Matosinhos for fish
Greek music for Porto?
Luke why do you use Greek music?
Come to india 🇮🇳
Yes we want to soon!
when are you going back to indonesia again bro
Soon bro!
👍🤗@@LukeMartin
Where is that girl he used to do videos with?
🤍🖤💜
Turned down the volume every time those annoying horns played. Otherwise great video!
Really? sorry maybe its unexpectedly too loud but I loved their music I've been listening to it on repeat
Love it ❤
@@LukeMartin maybe it’s just me.
They don't take the guts out of the sardines?
Hi Neil,
They would get dry.
On the other hand, the mackerel (I guess it’s how it’s called) is usually fried and in this case they’re removed.
If you like fish and visit here, try the turbot.
Take care,
José
You can't go have a francesinha with a full stomach xD.... Also missing an egg and some fries to dip on the sauce and there's much better francesinhas !
What you did with the sardines... oh my god!!! You first take the skin of, then you take the meat out of the bones!!
Leite creme =/ crème brûlée. Fodas.
Magestic cafe used to be great, today its a tourist trap.
My god.... That has to be the worst street jazz I've ever heard. I love jazz but that was just a racket. I had to mute my TV to watch the rest of the beautiful city in the video.
Id love to hear you play.
You know that a latte is an American Starbucks creation….. order real coffee in Europe not the fake versions.
...unfortunately I am not a fan of any Western dish. But they conflate them so well...
It's difficult to eat badly in Portugal but avoid the franceshina - vomit on a plate.
you had one coffee at Majestique.....how can you dis the whole place and vibe for that? You would need to go multiple times to really assess the quality. You are doing a disservice to the place. And, saying the train station tiles were painted by one man makes me want to know his NAME. tell us his name. Also it is Dooooouuuro...the river. C.mon man, you need to do better than this ffs. And, not all vino verdhe is sparkling. Why didn't you try port? The friggin fortified wine is name for the country.
Thank you daughter of the owner of Majestique 😂
The health benefits of so many great protein dishes ruined by sandwiching it in-between two pieces of carby bread….
Please take off your sunglasses… I wish to see the eyes of the one who is talking to me.
looks unhealthy
WTF is a Buana Sandwich and a Francesca Sandwich??
At least copy the real names right, please...
I can't stand when the make faces and moan and smack their lips while eating. Ruined the video.
Latte is not coffee that is product of younger generation for me coffe is black or espresso even capuccino but latte disgusting
❤❤❤
