THis version of Fleetwood Mac is utterly amazing. A comet that had to burn out because it burned so bright. Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer....PEter Green ..held together by Mick and JOhn. This is what you want if you were stuck on a desert island and could only listen to one band ...one day these guys will get the proper recognition they totally deserve. I think most musicians of their era knew about them and respected them.
James Bond They absolutely made the underground at that time, similar to what Pink Floyd was doing in another part of England. And to quote BB King, in conversation with the man known as "God", Eric Clapton, "I'm sorry, but Peter Green is the best bluesman in England!!" What could Clapton do but laugh and agree? These guys will get their recognition soon enough, and do yourself a favor, listen to "A Fool No More" if you haven't already, work of a true bluesman.
This version of Fleetwood Mac has the greatest guitarist of all time in it, but songs are personal. One can love songs with sounds not even needing musicians. Why? Because lyrics and tones can evoke feelings which drive the emotional feel of a song, more than the skill set of a particular musician.
Some music from around that time ,that is great is dated, like yardbirds just as a example, Peter Green's Mac is something I can listen to even now and get chills , very sad he lost some much time
Holy crow!!! I have watched this video soo many times and I am still blown away almost to the point of tears. This my people is music at its VERY best! THIS is PG FLEETWOOD MAC. Nothing else needs to be said
Ahhh! I could watch Peter and Danny play all night, and be delighted to watch Danny bust a string like that! Gawd! I fell in love with this band 50 years ago! So glad to find these shows posted. Its nice to see them actually playing the songs.
A friend of mine showed me this version of Fleetwood Mac, not the Stevie Nicks era. Now I do enjoy the Stevie Nicks time but it comes nowhere near this, perfection.
Jeremy Spencer was a great guitarist and singer, but to me it's a bit annoying that he basically played the same Elmore James Riff on all songs he participated in. And he didn't play on the other songs. Would have been interesting to hear his slide playing on some of the Peter Green or Danny Kirwan songs.
Musicians can read a sheet of music and play it lots do ,poetic license and interpretation has some bearing? A few are successful and even less can combine it with feeling and playing from the heart Green God Can vocally and instrumental combined ,like no one else
Peter made them all do a stint. No doubt he knew how good they were. Great musicians, and Peter himself had a quality like Van Morrison, in addition to his guitar skills. Thank you Peter!!!!.
This was the raw edge blues incantation of Fleetwood Mac that would develop from these blues roots into the rock direction through the masterful guitar work of Peter Green & Danny Kirwan, but as always with music it's the great dynamic of a great band's hey-day.
Jeremy and Danny were bloody amazing. FleetwoodMac and All the good bands in those days were sucked into place by incredibleness and flower explosions of perfumed infiniteness.
one night at the Boston Tea Party J. Geils opened for Fleetwood. Mick came on with no shirt and 1/2 way had wrapped himeself with a roll of paper towels. He stoodup and fell forward into his drums.
Such a mature sound from young guys. Awesome nothing beats this. They were disciples of the Blues masters American Blacks who created this amazing style of music.
One of the best ever....un-fkn-real......guys were as good as anyone...any band.....I wish I could have seen them but I'm to young..I was born In 65.....I play this stuff for friends and they love it....all wonder why never hurd..... request some on radio stations....let's bring them back
legendary this band, fleetwood mac ......... but exactly with this line-up, legendary and never forgotten. that is real sound with passion. nothing better will follow.
While I appreciate Peter's talent, I can't agree. I can name an endless string of guitarists I'd say were "original" in the same context starting with Hendrix, Page, Santana, Fogerty, Kath, Zappa, . . . .
amazing... stories about that band. and- very nice to actually see 'em performing- never saw 'em in person. So...young... (they were) (and, no-one plays like peter green- ) ... thanks! to whomever shared this.
I loved the later Iteration of Fleetwood Mac after the advent of Buckingham and Nicks, but these guys were truly the essence of British Blues in the sixties. Thanks for the music Peter Green.
what other musician would insist another band member name the band after himself and allow two other guitarists to take the lead singing and playing. Rest in peace Peter, you really were something special.
All together now , and listen a train is coming, just around the corner just around the bend , i hear those blues again. No trains to heaven bee bop deluxe just in time , your time had come and now its time to say goodbye.
I so much agree with you krahsnif and I wish I had had the chance to see these guys play live, too. However, I was only 16, living in Denmark with my parents who didn't like the idea of me going to the UK. I bought their music and plaid it almost all the time but .... I still listen to their music with great pleasure though I'm now 66 :-))
The band was at its best when all three of them were there, backed up by John McVie and Mick Fleetwood - A band unsurpassed for their brilliance at that time. Those 'in the know' gave them all the recognition they so rightly deserved.
They do from me. Danny wrote "Child of Mine", and the title track on "Bare Trees", two of the best songs Fleetwood Mac ever did after Peter drifted off.
A good friend of mine played me the Trash Can album and lit my lifelong love of the blues. I saw this line-up a couple of times fifty-two years ago,(!) one time jamming with B B King. Jeremy Spencer must be one of the most overlooked blues guitarists of all time. Danny and Peter now no longer with us and the last I heard Jeremy was with a religious cult.
matt cheltenham - Yes.. watching a lot of great bands in this era.. a guitarist broke a string.. but this was real live bands kids today sadly no nothing about..
And as if that delicate soul of Blues was not enough ... their poise within the stagesetting is like a testament to its existence .. to me they circled the earth like those mythical medieval minstrels . timeless and seductive 🌹
After Peter left, The Fleetwood mac version with Danny Kerwin and Jeromy Spencer carried on the PG's Fleetwood Mac tradition of pure blues... Listen to the album Bare Trees.
Amazing playing! So glad I got to see this band, also a few times before Danny was drafted... Apparently this video was from Oslo, Norway in Nov 1969. Rattlesnake Shake was also played, but seems to have been cut from this copy.
A contemporary of Savoy Brown, mining a similar blues and boogie groove. World Keeps Turning sounds a like like the Simmonds/Chris Youldens style on the A Step Further album.
Danny breaks a string, looks at his Daddy, Peter Green and Peter looks back I got your back son and they both finish the song without anyone trying to upstage the other.
This is the REAL Fleetwood Mac!!❤
Except no substitutes. 😊
I've never been so grateful of a broken string in my life.
Me too, though Danny deserves the recognition he never got.
You’re grateful not to hear Danny Kirwan?! You clown

Peter,Jeremy and Danny best guitarist trio ever!
This is the Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac that I saw and loved. Least said about what followed the better.

@@mickdavis7781, Clapton was not God. He sucks at his guitar in comparison to Peter Green.

James Bond I’m 41 only barley found them and can’t understand why they aren’t known the way they should be. Damn they were amazing!”

Stevie Nicks compared with Peter Green is like comparing Charlie Drake with Pavarotti.

Danny Kerwins “Guitar Master Class”…..Danny would become so emotional that he would actually “Cry” while playing…..
One of the most talented and expressive guitarists that I have ever heard!
I saw the Mac three times in the 60's...best british blues band ever....Thanks for sharing T!
3 immensely talented guitarists. Spencer deserves more credit.

The finest & true rendition of Fleetwood Mac!! When Peter Green …Kirwan & Spencer left so did I from listening to Mac again!

Great Elmore James sound, all Jeremy Spencer. And then there's Peter Green, unmatched in talent and style
What a music! Still touch my heart after decades and decades of time. It makes me young again
The real Fleetwood Mac!
My high school auto teacher turned me on to the real Fleetwood Mac in 69 best teacher I ever had
After listening to this set I died and went to blues heaven.

Peter Green's voice is just superb
PG, BB King and Clapton never really got the kudos for their singing. All three are wonderfully soulful singers.
This is Jeremy singing
@@joebaxter6811 - Jeremy, Danny and Peter all take lead vocals at some point during the video.

This was blues and music the way god intended. PG Fleetwood Mac has no equal

Incredible testament to one of rock's most under appreciated bands.
They were outselling The Beatles in the late 60s.
Joe Baxter : They were out selling The Beatles and The Stones combined at that time. As they should have !!!!!!

the best blues band ever,
Peter Green the green god 🙏
