Shirley MacLaine Live at the Wilshire Theatre 1984

In the December 1984 issue of Orange Coast Magazine, the Theatre Calendar featured the following: "SHIRLEY MACLAINE - Celebration of the award-winning singer/dancer/actress/author, starring Shirley MacLaine with an ensemble of dancers and singers, continues its limited Los Angeles engagement at the Wilshire Theatre (8440 Wilshire Boulevard) through December 9, 1984.
Original music for SHIRLEY MACLAINE composed by Marvin Hamlish with lyrics by Christopher Adler and additional material by Larry Grossman and Buz Kohan. The show's musical director is Jack French and Alan Johnson staged and choreographed the production.
Show times are: Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m.; Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. Sunday matinees at 3:30 p.m.

She was 50 when she did this show! An age when most professional dancers have long-since turned to teaching, as years of the heavy physical work of dancing have taken their toll. Because of her versatility and self-discipline, she seems much younger.

I was there. I took my wife and parents to see this show. She was wonderful and I remember how entertaining this was 40 years later.

Diligence and an incredible amount of confidence and not being concerned what other people think or say. Shirley was a brave and excellent example of this. Regardless, if one likes or disliked her personality, mistakes, talents or whatever. She’s was, is an incredible human being.

This took a lot of work, a lot of practice, a lot of time and effort to put together a show like this. Shirley had a lot of energy. We don't see shows like this anymore. Look at all the people that filled this theatre to watch the incomparable Shirley Maclaine dance for at least 1.5 hours. Amazing! She was on 🔥

I was blessed to experience Shirley MacLaine onstage in Las Vegas, but also in Berlin, Germany. From my perspective she was an extraordinary artist and a valiant explorer of the spiritual realm. I am so grateful that I have encountered this video!
