  • In March, 2024, WCIA reported, "Champaign County is experiencing a shortage of election judges, and the effects are starting to take shape." One of the effects of an election judge shortage can be the closing of polling places - an issue that the League does not take lightly.
The LWVCC will open its 2024-25 Keeping It Local series with a panel discussion about this timely issue.
League member Ann Prisland will moderate the panel that will include staff from the County Clerk’s office. They will share information about:
-requirements to be an election judge
    -duties and expectations
    -application process
-variety of ways one can serve as an election judge
    -training provided
-how high school students can serve as election judges
    -compensation election judges receive.
