'Who are you?'

5th Question: Number 5 question is: Who are you?
Is that an important question? Or would you say, ‘Who am I’ - not who you are, who am I? And if I tell you who I am, what does it matter. It would be out of curiosity, wouldn’t it? It is like reading a menu at the window, you have to go into the restaurant and eat food. But merely standing outside and reading the menu won’t satisfy your hunger. So, to tell you who I am is really quite meaningless. First of all, I am nobody. Right? That’s all. It is as simple as that. I am nobody. But what is important is: who you are, what are you? When they ask who you are, in that question is implied you are somebody very great therefore I am going to imitate you: the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you brush your teeth, or whatever it is. (Laughter) I am going to imitate you, which is part of our pattern, you understand? There is the hero, or the man who is enlightened, or the guru, and you say, ‘I am going to copy everything you do’ - which becomes so absurdly silly - you understand? - childish to imitate somebody. And are we not the result of a lot of imitations? The religions have said - they don’t use the word ‘imitate’ - but give yourself over, surrender yourself, follow me, I am this, I am that, worship. Right? All this is what you are. In school you imitate. Please. Acquiring knowledge is a form of imitation and of course there is the fashion - short dress, long dress, long hair, short hair, beard, no beard - imitate, imitate, imitate. And also we imitate inwardly, so we all know that.
But to find out who you are, who you are, not who the speaker is, is far more important, and to find out who you are you have to enquire. You are the story of mankind. If you really see that it gives you tremendous vitality, energy, beauty, love because it is no longer a small entity struggling in the corner of the earth. You are part of this whole humanity. It has a tremendous responsibility, vitality, beauty, love. But most of us won’t see this, as most of us are concerned with ourselves, with our particular little problem, particular little sorrow and so on. And to step out of that narrow circle seems almost impossible because we are so conditioned, so programmed, like the computers, that we cannot learn something new. The computer can but we can’t. See the tragedy of it. The machine that we have created, the computer, can learn much faster, infinitely more than I can, than the brain can, and the brain which has invented that, that has become ultra intelligent machine. Right? Whereas our brain is sluggish, slow, dull because we have conformed, we have obeyed, we have followed, there is the guru, there is the priest, there is the ritual - you follow? And when you do revolt, as the revolutionaries and the terrorists do, it is still very superficial - changing the pattern of politics, of so-called society, society is merely the relationship between people, and we are talking of a revolution, not physical but the psychological revolution in which there is no, at the depth, conformity. You may put on trousers because you are in this country and in India it is different clothes, that is not conformity, that is nothing, childish. But inwardly, not a feeling of conformity. Conformity exists when there is comparison. For a mind to be totally free from comparison, that is to observe the whole history which is embedded in you.

Jiddu Krishnamurti was so ahead of his time with his advice, thoughts and opinions. Thank you for posting this video. I appreciate his teachings in allowing us to learn what it's like to be free from beliefs and conforming to society.
Not sure if he was ahead of his time but regardless of computers yes he was saying what we see today. But his teaching has been known from ancient times.
People have understood these ideas Krishnamurti speaks of from the ancient Greek philosophies. Anyone who would speak about these ideas today would still appear ahead of their time. This is because humanity is overwhelmingly trapped in a trance.
The true way of life to lead from j.krishnamurti sir from my perspective is that you don't need to worship any God you don't need to follow anybody, finding the satisfying answer for your own question by yourself, to have crystal clear about your thoughts is enough.

Because it is a result of growing up with comparison. Not that we are born with the idea that we must compare. This concept of comparison is taught to us in many ways. In our educational system, by our peers, be that our friends, relatives, even our parents do comparison. It is there in our work, in marriage, our status when we look what our neighbors possess. We are always exposed to comparison, which in turn gives rise to a feeling of being something that is not ourselves and perverting ourselves to be that -- the one with which is being compared. Comparison damages the person to conform with the way that - not as he is - but that which he is not! Thus conformity is a result of comparison that has been going on since us i.e. humans are born into a simulated hyper reality where one has to conform being that which he is being compared to.
This is my take on what K was trying to say.
Among the crowd of self pretentious INDIAN GURUS , we really have been lucky to have had K whose enormous wisdom would continue to enlighten mankind
Guru means the "Teacher" and there is a difference between a religious and a spiritual guru. Most of the gurus you are pointing out are religious gurus and the world knows that leaders of any religion are scamming you.
No conformity exist when you are completely free. Conformity ends when there is no comparison

Why didn't i find this video a few years ago? A few sentences changed my perspective in a little way of course the worry isn't gone completely but i feel free of a few stress that has been burdening my shoulder!

How can you not realize this precious flower and her nectar. This moment here and now is the only truth. It is the flower that the nectar of yourself has given to you. For the psyche is a field. A flower field and the field is here and now. Your crop is yourself. Your harvest is your world. The fruits of your labors are found in your love and the world is your love and your lover. Only the mature may realize this flower. One whiff of her fragrance and your gone. Dissolved into her nectar. And to dissolve into this nectar is to be eternally free. To arise from a corpse into an angel. To live here and now amongst the lotus field and yet look deep into oneself and see only this precious flower. No more meat and bone. No more walking corpse. To drink milk from this breast is not for the immature. You dont throw a toddler to a naked woman or he will become afraid. Dissolve yourself of yourself. Know that you cant know this sweet nectar. It is eternal. Only for those matured.

Your brain is not yours, it is part of the collective brain of humanity.
From the moment we are born our brain is being conditioned by everybody else's brain.
The environment is not separate from the individual that is an illusion perpetuated by society.
The word individual comes from the word indivisible which means cannot be separated from or undevided but our society has twisted that meaning.

A phrase of "Who are you". I knew this statement will leads to that "human as entities" of God, as a part of Him in mathematical concept, merging and summing. This actually a wrong conception IF the word God understood as a something or someone. Human can't caught it because He is more than what we could think. Even He is out of the limit of thinking itself. But we as human could reach "His region", if we may to use a word 'region' just for approached the understanding.
Actually human have their own IDentity as a life living who "being". So, human have their own emotion by self. Never make sense if men have same tendency to one woman only. For some, might be, but not all. And it will filtered by natural law of love. Could you realized, its so horrible if that happened. Psychological standard is their as each nature.Then we need law system as hte nature need its own law for the way of life in this world. If there is some anomaly, that's why human hands needed for. Same as, the nature by its ownself repair each others (as creatures). Didn't human is a part of nature?. But human have higher level from all of their stuff. That's why consciousness needed.
So, there is no "equal and same feel" to individuals "being". There are some levels. This like what we can't say, the fool as same as the clever one. Or your boss at your work just same as his employee then he must get same salary with all workers in its company. This why there is levels fo everything exist. There are some spiritual levels, and if you're gointg to spiritual journey, you must accepted its, as the reality itself.
