So sorry for your loss. Hopefully, this will help you and the dogs. ❤ thanks so much for taking care of her dogs (now yours), they are a part of ger you can still physically cherish
@@hinaths I get that it’s a coping mechanism, but calling the dogs a literal piece of her to cherish is only inviting more severe heartbreak when the dogs eventually pass as well.
I watch Victoria Stilwell & she has a great way to end separation anxiety. I love how she does things in a way that is encouraging to the dogs & she uses nothing negative to train them.
Omg if only I found this video two weeks ago! My greyhound has been acting up exactly like this, so I went to an animal behaviorist. They put him on two kinds of meds straight away... I will be trying these methods shown- thank you so much for uploading this!!!
I can't speak to this edited video, but generally these things do not resolve separation anxiety. While giving treat puzzles to dogs is great in general, there are many dogs who will not eat from them when they are distressed, or will eat and then panic afterwards - which means the anxiety is not actually resolved. And by providing one, it messes up our evaluation of how long a dog actually is comfortable - because dogs can use puzzle toys for different amounts each time. Desensitization does not equal ignoring dogs for 15 minutes pre- and post-returning, it refers to exposing a dog to something that scares him (being left alone), but at a level that does not scare him and then very gradually building upon that to increase the amount of time a dog is comfortable alone. This takes many repetitions over time. It is true that it helps for people not to make a huge deal upon returning or leaving, but that is not the solution in and of itself. It's a challenging issue to deal with, but it gets more confusing with some dogs having more of a medical issue that a symptom is separation anxiety. There are also dogs who are more frustrated at being left alone, rather than having actual separation anxiety, and for these dogs increasing enrichment: puzzle toys, walks with sniffing, running off-leash, play, attention, etc. will help them. They are more bored/frustrated, and their owners leaving predict more frustration from being alone.
I think Agnes and her husband should do things differently. When you leave, tell them what you're going to do and say I'll be back and not just the command sit. When I/we leave, we have "whole conversations" with the dog and now after 10 years it is still going well to this day, occasionally there is a short bark but that is also over quickly. He has already experienced that his previous owner passed away and that fear comes out of the dog. Training training training, going away a little longer each time until he realizes that they are coming back to him. Every time we leave we use a sniffing blanket in which we have hidden all kinds of small tasty things, our dog is already ready when I put on my shoes and my coat because he knows he can do something fun
My dog has separation anxiety but the food distraction won't work because my dog could care less about treats. She won't eat them. Even her dinner, she'll leave it for hours until she wants it and only picks at her food anyway.
I switched to cooking my dogs food from scratch because he wouldnt touch dry kibble. He eats with no problem now, as well as freeze dried beef liver treats. His absolute favorite
I've tried this but my dog wouldn't care about anything but me. The frozen kings , the pig ears, the fluffy sniffing mats. As soon as I leave, he barks. I don't interact any time before or when I come back. Doesn't matter, he barks ....... 😅
Can anybody break this down farther for me? Are they giving the dog the food in the ball before they leave or when they come home? I am trying to keep my dog calm when I leave so I am unsure when I should give the food in the ball to my dog.
Is gastro upset with vomiting and diarrhea part of separation anxiety? Can’t figure out if my baby is suffering from SA or if the dog sitter is giving her stuff they shouldn’t
@@jakeg9038 no she didn't have any illness as far as I know. its still happening so I can only assume she has severe anxiety. she's okay after 3 days or so.
only helps if the separation is specifically because he's lonely this ain't being lonely, this is not knowing how to deal with not being lavished with attention 24/7
Will be trying this 🙏🏽 My sister passed and I’ve been taking care of her dogs, but their separation anxiety is so bad.
Hope you're all doing OK

Gotta give this a shot, just got a dog from a rehome situation and this poor girl is so codependent

This dog is sooooo cute❤😍
get well sôn Rico
Talk with him, talk with him , and hug him. Have you considered an anxiety jacket? Isn’t this much the same as anxiety to thunder storms?
Forget what I ask! Marvelous! Such a good dog!
In Australia we can them thunder shirts
WOW. This worked like a charm. Seriously, who knew ignoring your dog so he thinks you leaving and coming home is boring would work? Thank you!!

My dog is behaving like this, I will implement this
Any update?
My dog was transported for quite some hours we believe that's the reason for her anxiety 😢 tried everything 😭
What if I have separation anxiety

Wow! I really needed this! Thank you 😊 🙏
This is some good advice!
Our dogs know that the time to 'ask' to go along is when we put on our shoes.

Just adopted a pup that isnt food or treat motivated. I'm not sure what distraction to use before leaving.
My dog doesnt care about the treat toy. How do i get him to be interested?

Also dog may have issues with English speaking being from Poland.
he understood commands spoken in english so probably at least used to both languages
Dogs are polyglots
Please do this about cats.
One of the confusing mental health problems
Everybody knows you beat em before you leave. Then they are happy u left. That's how my dad raised me anyway...😢😢
Just get another dog for company.
Not always possible or a cure either. Some people don't want to take on another dog.

just "getting another dog" isnt that simple lol, its a huge deal its not just a simple quick thing you can just do whenever you want
Stay home. Don’t leave him alone. Simple as that.
