While I am reluctant to give ANY good reviews to Segway, the take away was I love my purchase so I did as you did “just get it done”. I learned a lot about ME (AND the replacement).
Don't use loctite on axles or anything decorative. I had to mangle the decorative cover to remove it.
Leaving a couple lessons I've learned after successfully replacing this thing. It seems impossible at first, but you can do it. Taking off the tire requires at least 2 tire levers and a c clamp to break the tire bead seal as seen in the video, make sure your tire is deflated and use the levers to pop the tires out, it'll take a little elbow grease but it's doable. Putting on the tire is much more difficult. They never mention this in the video but you explicitly cannot use tire levers to put on the tire, it will break the bead seal and your new tires will be useless (learned this the hard way), you MUST push it in with your hands. To make this easier, get 4 zip ties (I used 14-inch cable ties from Home Depot), then evenly tie them around the tire as tight as possible. This makes pushing the tire onto the rim much more straightforward and ensures both sides are inside, once inside you just need to cut the zip ties. For most of you, it should now be as simple as inflating the tire to around 30-40 psi, and it will pop into place. If your luck is anything like mine, the bead won't sit no matter how much you inflate and pinch the thing. To fix this, I inflated it to 50 psi, reassembled the scooter, and rode it around town at about 25-30 mph. By the time I was finished, the bead seated itself into place, and I deflated it back down to the recommended 32 psi. This entire process can seem nightmarish, but once you get it done once, you'll have the experience to fly through it the next time you need to replace this thing. I believe in you.

I mean no offence. You buy a machine and expect to do nothing on it? Part of owning a machine is learning it, maintaining it and become more knowledgeable as a result. I don't know. Maybe for another 50 grand you can get your own mechanic?

@@peelypeelmeister6432the issue isn’t not having the effort to put into a scooter maintenance. I’ve changed all sorts of parts on cars and the point is, Segway didn’t engineer the tire on this scooter to be changed, when a tire is something that should be easily accessible and changeable.
DO NOT buy a Segway until this is fixed. I have spent 6 hours trying to replace one rear tire and still cannot get it on the rim (even after watching this video a handful of times). It could be as simple as removing the rim completely from the scooter, then you could take the rim and tire to any tire shop. But no, that is not an option.

My 21mm socket won't fit on the axle because you need a thin wall socket. my cable going to the rear motor isn't long enough to pull the wheel up on to the deck. I have to disconnect the cable in order to get enough room to work on the tire.

Its a whole pile of ass fuckery is what It really is. Its like gimmie a pile of cash for this awesome pile of trash. Just wait till our batteries fail in a couple of years LOL

Segway MUST offer a solid tire option on it's super scooters.. the replacements are horrible procedures and it does not solve the problem of a new puncture in the replacement tire which could happen literally in the same day

the decorative cover over the axle is near impossible to remove. what did they torque it to?

How much psi does the tire have to be?
I don't understand - if you have the C clamp there use it to put the tire back on the rim -instead of all that trying with your hands to push it on - Just use a bigger one and an open end wrench to give you leverage to turn it if you have issues.
1500$ down the drain. My rear tire popped. And i got to the decorative protector and it got stripped trying to remove it since it was stuck on. Now its impossible to remove. Segway didnt think it through. I have a perfectly good scooter i cant use now
I tried, tire lube, silicon grease, tire levers, still won't go on, I even put it in the oven for a few minutes to warm it up without damaging the gel and to make it more pliable. No luck
I used the clamp and zip 3zip ties and the lever.
Been at it trying to install the new 🛞…won’t budge…scratched the 💩 out of the rim…the rubber on the rear part of the deck is completely ripped to shreds thanks to the bolt…tried that 10min step the 💩 out of the 🛞 to get it to loosen up…not helpful…this guy makes it look easy…now I have a useless 🛴 thanks to the rear 🛞 puncture I’ve been with for a while…I should’ve just kept pumping the 🛞 every time I used it(annoying) but better than this nightmare replacement

Did this today, the only problem I had was the motor did not have enough wire to put it on top of the scooter
I've been stuck trying to put the new tire back on the rim for a while. Any tips? They make it look so easy.
I was finally able to do it by getting a pack of long zipties. I put the tire on the rim half way then "crushed" the tire and put zip ties all around to make it smaller then I used tools to get it on there.

Well Guys/Girls I figure out the best way to do this unfortunately you have to use a flathead screwdriver and it's going to chip rim paint no way around it really this was a pretty cool scooter and all but I definitely feel scammed I also manged to ruin more shit in the process of fixing it

This is so easy! I was expecting something more difficult. The hardest part is those tire levers but that’s what i already do on my Bicycle and its a challenge sometimes.
Installation on P65 is impossible 🙉
