nursing students! if you can, try to get a job as a nurse's assistant or patient care technician - it really is eye opening and a lot more raw than compared to a student clinical setting :)
💯 agree! It’s very eye opening and prepares you for basic patient care. It is also a good way to introduce you to the different medical roles involved in patient care and can help you figure out which medical career is best for you.

Nice job, i teach nursing and I think you hit it on the head. One good point comes from the nursing oath which was changed from obey the physician to advocate for the patient. This pivot transformed the profession.
I’ve been watching you since my senior year of High School. I completed my first 2 years of pre requisites and took a 2 year break. I’ll be applying fall for the spring program. I want to say thank you, for all the times I felt discouraged and unsure if I should go back, you brought me back to my senses that this isn’t going to be easy and it’ll be far worth it.

I started watching you right when I got accepted into the program and it's crazy I'm finally at this point!! your videos seriously gave me such hope and excitement about nursing over the years, especially when I felt like I wanted to just give up! so thank you for that :)

I found some booklets in the Chapel that explain what are some of the thought that go through our minds after death. Maybe talk to your Hospital Chaplain.
I am in my third semester of nursing school and it is SO hard!! but I do love it! I think it is SOOOO important to job shadow or volunteer in care settings to see if it is for you. it is NOTHING like on TV and I am just starting to learn that now. I volunteered at local hospitals pre-covid and at long term care facilities. It exposed me to so much and that is where I really got to understand the field:)

Switched careers because I felt like I didn’t have a purpose of where I was. It’s so hard to pick what you want to do while you’re in highschool and actually do that! I earned a B.S. in environmental science and then realized just because I have a passion for recycling doesn’t mean I have to do an entire career in a field that related! About to apply to clinicals. I learned from one of my internships just how much I love spending time with people and caring for them. Thank you so much Alexis for this amazing content!!! I watch your videos while I process samples in lab! (A very tedious job). ❤️

As a nursing student and intern, I really don’t know where this came from. 1) nursing school is challenging for everyone in my class, we just have different strengths 2) a lot of the nurses I have had the opportunity to shadow at clinical/work are very sweet and nice people who genuinely care about patients and willing to teach me. This not to say that you won’t find a nurse that isn’t as friendly or professional as you hope, but I think that stereotype is quite odd.

This very informative! I’ve worked at a senior retirement home for some time now and even tho I went to school for early childhood and have worked in school setting , I’ve worked around senior citizens for awhile but not directly more on the food service side and sometimes I feel the healthcare field calling my name. There's so many different opportunities and different kinds of nursing. I haven't started my career in nursing yet as a nursing student but is it difficult to switch? Are you ever sort of locked-in once you get specialized?

All of these things are so true. I just recently did a similar video and I completely agree with your points!
Does it really matter getting an BSN? My school offers an associates program directly to RN but also offers an additional “RN to BSN” program. Does getting a BSN really make that much of a difference?
Thank you for this. It really eased my worries.

There's so many different opportunities and different kinds of nursing. I haven't started my career in nursing yet as a nursing student but is it difficult to switch? Are you ever sort of locked-in once you get specialized?
Some specialities are more difficult to get into than others but it’s normally not very difficult to switch specialties
@@TheNurseNook that's good to hear! Thanks! 😁

I’m a combat medic looking into nursing once my contract is over. How will the transition be? Ik nursing is a completely different game but do you think I might have a small “advantage” compared to others? I’m only asking because I’m nervous to start
