One time i had to go into a patient's room as a student and you could smell like a nasty dead animal smell in the hall...it ended up being a guy in that room with rotting flesh all over his arm because he missed the vein when shooting up heroin and it gave way for a bacterial infection. It smelled so bad

We just discovered your channel; My wife is a nurse & totally related to your video & appreciated your accurate portrayal of how life often is for RNs! To me, you, my wife & all nurses are the unsung heroes of our world!
My suggestions is if you can, job shadow a nurse for a few days, that would be great exposure into what a nurse does, and if you want to get some work experience look into getting a Medical Assistant License or a Certified Nursing Assistant License, they are a little similar but MA has more training compared to getting a CNA license. There seems to be more jobs in the hospital for MA's compared to CNA's, just a fyi. Good luck if you go that route! I'm a CNA doing my pre-reqs for a nursing program.
The best way to decide if you want to be a nurse is to be a CNA first, for at least a couple of years. Being a CNA was great for me because it showed me just how much I absolutely do not want to be a nurse. Meanwhile, it showed my best friend that it truly is her calling. Being a nurse is just being a CNA with extra responsibilities and more urgent responsibilities, like administering medication or IVs and the millions of other tasks they have on top of the direct care responsibilities that CNAs have. This is especially true in nursing home settings where the staffing is typically critically low and everyone is doing the jobs of multiple people. So if you don't like being a CNA, do not be a nurse. And if you love it and feel like you could do it for 50+ hours a week for the rest of your life, then please do it! We need more great nurses!
@@JessicaMary0702 being a Nurse "...is awful..." only if you're burned out, never liked it in the first place, had a bad experience as or with a Nurse, or you're on the outside looking in. Nursing requires dedication, compassion, and a L💜VE of humanity. There are many different type Nursing careers besides hospital Nursing. One great thing about Nursing is, you can always find a job! 😍🙌😊💖
I love your attitude, you’re so positive but you understand how straining this job can be! You make me feel less stressed about going into nursing school next year 😭
Funny thing is that I'm Asian and I wanted to become a doctor but my parents opposed of that idea due to our financial situation later on supported me because it's really what I wanted.
I start nursing school in the fall and I'm excited and terrified at the same time. My parents and other family members work in the medical field so luckily I have some good background on how it's actually going to be and all the pros and cons. It's not always a glamorous job like how some can make it out to be and how mean patients and coworkers are often. I'm pretty much expecting that negative tuff anywhere I will work in the future even if it's not nursing as I have had experienced that already with some jobs that I have worked at, but always made the best out of it. I'm still excited.
I'm also a registered nurse and luckily I got the best duty schedule , I was assigned in out patient dept. As eye specialist in eye center my working hours is 8am to 5pm😇 #feelblessed
I've been trying my best to work my best in school, and I've always wanted to become a nurse. This video really motivates me, and thank you for all that you do. :)
You can also work in an outpatient clinic where the hours are closer to that of a typical 9-5! There's definitely plenty of options if 12 hour shifts and the possibility of being mandated aren't a good fit for you

So glad this came up my recommendation, doctors and nurses are heroes may god bless you all
I’m only in grade 10 but I’m looking into doing nursing. So I’m thinking of doing work experience for it to see if I’ll enjoy it :)
Being a nurse is awful. Job shadowing does not give the real experience at all.
@@claytemorgan1923 are you a student or something? Lol
Hats off to you Miki as ur in the front line we pray for u and for the staffs to have more strength to keep moving forward. Take care.
I love your attitude, you’re so positive but you understand how straining this job can be! You make me feel less stressed about going into nursing school next year 😭
Asian parents: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Me: *I-*
Asian Parents Again:
*Doctor? Lawyer?*
typical asian parents. yeaa doctor is everything~~~ lawyer~~ while there are more good professions, but yea
not everyone, dude. I am an Asian father.
I’m going to nursing school for undergrad and law school after 😂
Funny thing is that I'm Asian and I wanted to become a doctor but my parents opposed of that idea due to our financial situation later on supported me because it's really what I wanted.
@@merriellegatlin2714 same!
'お疲つかれ様さまでした!' is literally the first thing that came up my mind after the whole video.
@@mikirai 好好照顧自己! 我兩年後也要開工做護理師了!
Wow, you are literally a saint. I hope that you were able to end your shift at 3pm instead of 7....
Watching these nursing videos make me so excited and motivated to become a nurse ✨🥺
Graduating with my bsn in 3 months. So hyped to suffer and enjoy life at the same time :D LETS GOOOOOOOO
I'm also a registered nurse and luckily I got the best duty schedule , I was assigned in out patient dept. As eye specialist in eye center my working hours is 8am to 5pm😇 #feelblessed
Jonz Ferraren sweet that’s a great schedule!
Wow ur hard work and great heart ( thinking about the kids who in the hospital on Christmas) ... good example you are..
I am 23 and want to switch studies. Trying to figure out my dream job. Wish me luck and thank you for the help!

Me first Year Nursing student... I'm gonna be compassionate nd spread peace...
Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️
Question...how do you eat and handle kids with nausea at the same time? Doctors and nurses are literal hero's💚
I feel like I would be miserable If I didn’t know what day I would be called in at freaking 3 AM by surprise. Makes me doubt going into nursing 😭
same
I almost went into nursing but realized it wasn't for me after working as a CNA.
Nena Torres I left my investigator job for that reason.
Well you dnt need to work in hospital..you can be a school nurse prison nurse! The possibilities are endless! That's what I'm thinking of doing
You can also work in an outpatient clinic where the hours are closer to that of a typical 9-5! There's definitely plenty of options if 12 hour shifts and the possibility of being mandated aren't a good fit for you
16 hours !? I can’t even do a regular 8 hour shift 😭 I be ready to go as soon as I clock in.
Girl I've been watching your videos for a few days now, and I love them! I am in natural sciences at my university in Canada, and I have applied for transfer into nursing. Your videos are inspiring me more and more, so I really hope I get in! :)
Update lol
Her: *wakes up at 2 am as a nurse*
Me: *wakes up at midnight to work a fifth twelve hour shift, cause I'm broke, and COVID as a CNA* ah yes, some familiarity for when i become a nurse
Your and your bf's life really motivates me to work hard. Thank you.
